I know it will never go through, I personally wouldnt mind this being global but i know alot of pve/wvwers are going to flip their tables if it would be implented

quickness needs to stop affecting revive speed atleast in pvp, this would be a rather simple and quick fix to bunker mesmers. Without completly destroying the build but still making atleast everyone else around the mesmer killable.

Reviving in this game is already way too fast, even without quickness.

Why do all the skills in a whatever weapon you are on about, have to be solely one sided (as in only range skills, or close range skills)

Sure I can see why GS skills can be quite problematic for a player that wants to focus on one thing only

But for me GS versatility as a weapon is in fact the reason why I love it so much, the auto attack is weak in damage yes, but that’s only on paper. In actual use, for example in PvP envoirment it is one of the strongest auto attacks in the whole game. Not because of numbers but because of its functionality.

GS is a great versatile weapon, that with you can change your playstyle on the fly. GS is probably the only weapon on mesmer which I think is 100% fine in design.

That being said as pointed out already we have our cleave weapon in sword already.

Betterhappy, that is because there are more “enemies nearby”, go re do that test with just one target, not on the 3 golems, you will see your mirror blade bouncing between the phantasm and the target or any clone that is already nearby prior to casting the skill.

I was under the impression you were talking about 1 v1 situation and tossing it in from range, in which scenario everything I say holds, and the clone from GS 2 is technically summoned “after the skill” still, having targets apart on max range makes it seem like it comes between the first bounce but testing it with point blank range makes it quite clear it has already picked its bounce targets before the clone is summoned.

The clone pops up on first damage I believe, which already makes the skill unable to bounce off it, you can create a DE clone prior to casting gs2 with nothing else nearby the target, and it will bounce off that clone

GS2 does always prioritize players atm, and it does indeed bounce off phantasms atm.

it wont bounce off the clone generated on the target because the clone is summoned after the skill ends, but it does bounce off any phantasm/clone already next to the target prior to casting the skill. If no players are nearby.

Again, please remove the continious block before it is too late.
I saw it coming…. Some people now complain that it is too strong in Combo with déjà-vu; And yes, they are right.
Now they are talking about reducing the time of the block(sensless). Please, before you change the Name of the skill and/or change something about déjà-vu, just revert it to single block. To have 1,25 sec block or block 1 Attack, won’t make the real difference.

As said in my Previous post. Déjà-vu is there to make up for the weak block.
Chronomancer just don’t need a continious block.

People won’t understand or hate me. But it is a matter of being skilled, to be able to deal with 1 attack block. You don’t need to block everything randomly.
Plus, somewhere i don’t want the Chronomancer to be so easy to play.

Every skill in the entire game can’t be there specifically for PvP and only PvP…especially when raids are a thing now. There is nothing wrong with a couple seconds of continuous block at a time now. There are multiple classes that have continuous blocks…I don’t see all this forum crying about those.

Chronomancer is not a real bunker, won’t be and will never be. Continious Block for which Mode?
You could Block 2 attacks in a row. It was enough.
I didn’t get any problem in WvW nor in PvE
If you plan to rush in middle of the crowd and to shine, you failed as Mesmer and as Chronomancer.
It has Not his place there.

It is more a question of being skilled or having some cheesy block.
You people forget that Tides of time is the real block and that Echo of Memory is the phantasm summon.

I just have to throw an opinion on this because people seem to be utterly ignorant on so many things.

Echo of memory needs to stay as a continuous block for the shield to have any use outside of the “new weapon yay hype”.

Why? To understand that you need to think about the mesmer as a whole. First of all pve, its lack of a damage phantasm makes this one obvious. It will NOT be used in pve outside of its defense capabilities, which right now is the block. Even right now I have a hard time seeing anyone justifying taking the shield in 2-3 months for pve content, our main source of damage being phantasm should make it obvious.

Okay now that pve is out of the way lets get back to pvp/wvw which is why I wanted to post this to begin with.

Once again, what does shield provide right now? An slow moving aoe stun, and on demand quickness. Okay those are pretty useful, if only tides of time wasn’t on such a high cooldown.

And once people realize tides of time stuns you. And that they can literally walk 2 feet sideways to dodge the skill.

That leaves us with a atm useless phantasm, ( which I hope gets some love BTW), and the continious block. That people seem to say is " op".

So overall due to its lack of damage phantasm (once again). Shield is a defensive weapon. Allrighty, what’s our other defensive weapon? That’s right torch. Unlike stealth the block has a huge tell and dosnt provide the mesmer with a disengage and a reposition, and unlike the torch shield block actually has some counterplay in it, for example not actually attacking the block prevents the mesmer from using it again, sure in team fights its easy to run into a aoes but that’s why deja vu is there right?

Unlike the torch once a mesmer activates the block he’s in straight out defense mode, unable to quickly revert into offense which is the usual “qq” on these forums anyways.

So unless you all want to hype over, a useless 2x single block and tides of time for a month, only to realize that in the end torch is still once again the “go to offhand” and we have yet another offhand weapon that barely anyone uses outside of messing around with “look at me I’m not running aa popular build”, I suggest we let echo of memory stay as it is for now and see how things turn out for a while first.

Also to the person I quoted, it honestly only looks like the continuous block is attacking your “image” of mesmer as a class and nothing else. You seem so confident on knowing what mesmer is “supposed to be doing” or else they are a “bad mesmer”, can we stop this shoehorning into a specific role that you alone seem to think mesmer is supposed to be doing. Variety anyone?

I’ve played with and against the shield on all betas, and there is no “skillfully using” a dual single block, against people who actually know how to play. Unlike the sword block (not many people use offhand sword for the block anyways, go figure?) It can’t be effectively cancelled for a secondary effect, that would from example, oh yeah prevent you from getting hit by a multiple hit skills that will melt through mesmer durability in seconds, I ended up not pressing echo of memory almost ever when it was a single block.

Because it left me open for bursts more then anything else.

Overall unless icaptain gets a major overhaul, this skill absolutely needs to stay as a continuous block, for the weapon to find any use.

Atm, its providing us with a “different way to play mesmer” which is exactly what this class needs more then anything.

Kinda silly engis are saying detection pulse is fine because they don’t need it against thief’s, however I’m quite certain it will be used to assist teammates in spvp and wvw by shutting down enemy thief’s/mesmers from stealth access.

The range and CD on the skill are indeed too big and too low. I’m happy for some stable reveal abilities. But 900 and 20 seconds? Not to mention the double use. It can be literally used to completely shut down thief’s and mesmer’s from stealth access if rotated properly.

I would somehow understand it if it had a 40 second cooldown.

Aoe reveal is fine, its needed in the game against certain builds. But this skill will over perform greatly right now.

Why does everyone want all games to play like mobas nowdays, there are already a few really good mobas out there on the market that people can play and enjoy.

Why are you here, demanding guild wars an mmo to play like that too? you want max 5 skills with such massive tells that you can l2p in moments, first of all that design wouldnt even work with the number of classes in this game, mobas rely on the high amount of heroes for balance.

I personally enjoy the amount of kitten that is going on in gw2 pvp, the amount of focus it takes to notice all the little things. This is why I play the game. I agree that it is hard for a new viewer to watch gw2 and enjoy it. But thats the way I personally enjoy it, and despite what the general belief is there are multiple of players in this game who can and are good enough to keep up with “all this random spam”, it just takes a little more then a moba mentality to get to that point.

Can we just let gw2 be an mmorpg and stop demanding for such ridiculous things, sure gw2 will probably never have the viewer esports base of the top esport games, but if that is the only reason you play a game then go play those top games with massive viewer amounts.

I honestly miss the gaming days before moba esports became such a big thing, people actually enjoyed games more and spent more time learning it then worrying if its popular enough or if it can make them popular enough as gamers.

More important things we should focus on is the pvp balance with the current game design.

Could we please have a mute for SoI? :)

Putting dialog sound in sound options to zero mutes all the annoying skill speeches, however I cant remember right now if this also muted npcs and living story interactions. I do not think it muted the latter but cant say for sure.

Lost Time and Danger Time synergise disgustingly well with the GS. If you aren’t using the GS I’d personally not go for those. Seize the Moment would give you on-demand Quickness (very, very handy for stomps and resses) and Improved Alacrity is just generally good.

On the other hand, you mention your reason for not taking Illusionary Reversion being because you have Deceptive Evasion. Have you considered using Illusionary Reversion + Chronophantasma and ditching DE instead? Chronophantasma to my mind isn’t primarily a Phant DPS trait, it’s a Shatter trait; and if you also go Illusions for Persistence of Memory (not to mention Illusionist’s Celerity) you can basically churn out Phantasms like they’re Clones.

The other benefit of Phantasma, seeing as you’re using Mental Defence, is you don’t lose Defender’s effect the moment you Shatter.

While I agree those traits arent that useful without the GS, but with his stats spread (in wvw setup) the fury from dueling+danger time, hes actually sitting at 100% crit which might make lost time worth it with those weapons.

The autoattacks are pretty terrible for that though. Scepter is too slow and staying in melee range with the sword doesnt seem to be what he had in mind at all.

While the cooldown reduction from fencers finesse is good, since this build has literally 0% stealth I have a hard time believing its going to survive at all. Condi clear is allright but not having blinding dissipation makes me feel like the plan of “one up” fights is just going to end up with him dead on the floor.

it might work with suprise attacks if no one sees it coming, which is unlikely.

Im not sure the sustain is enough is what Im trying to say, It might be better idea to drop the deceptive evasion for mantra stacks after all and go for healing mantra also. alltho running 2 mantras is generally bad idea since the build isnt exactly swimming in skills to cover the charge with.

it could work but you are going to need a group to hide behind most of the time, even then once you get hardfocused you are going to be in trouble quickly.

Might also have some slight issues with catching people, but for zerg fights this could work fine as a sort of a backline build, but then danger time will cease to function as good so theres a slight contridiction there.

I really think you should drop the scepter/sword combo for GS, or even possibly for staff.

Possibly also swap fencers finesse for BD, for extra sustain.

Also I am not sure if you have enough vitality to make wurm runes worth it, I believe even scholar would do a better job at what you are trying to do there.

Where does it say specis have to specificly add new stuff to the class mechanic? Im guessing you are on about steal here?

DD looks really good, Dodge leap finisher. lots of the skills look really useful too.

Im not too bothered about not gettin a new version of steal or so.

Effects on dodge isn’t new to thief nor is being able to dodge more than 2 times in a row….

As of now, thief is the only class that has to spec to get a “new” mechanic. Other classes pick Elite spec and they get the new mechanic w/o having to select a trait for it.

You could say that, it says mechanic tho not specificly class mechanic. Or that the mechanic has to be new to the game.

Sure there are alot of dodge abilities already, but a leap finisher, a long range dash. Should and is a “new mechanic”.

You could also argue being able to finish a downstate person with a skill is a new mechanic too.

It really depends on how you look at it. I dont get the negativity, this speci seems to have alot of good stuff in it.

All of these are pretty specific gimmicks/tricks that require a specific build and even then are only situational, and even at that point spamming all your skills for a small “burst” effect like that is not really recommended as a mesmer in any situation. Beside maybe double mass invis and so on sometimes. But that’s how the skill is supposed to function.

While I do think mesmer has overran thief in a lot of places and needs some toning down in the correct places, this video gives hardly anything to the real problems.

And we haven’t seen thief speci yet so….

Neat tricks, but that’s all they really are. At max i can see these being used in pve.

Not to mention a lot of cooldowns are used to attain them.

Don’t really get how this is a “Mesmer is taking thief’s place” problem.

About Gravity Well and its design

I feel like a reasonable middle ground would be to make the gravity well pull on activation once, then the rest of the skill works as currently designed. CD of the skill could be adjusted accordingly after that.

I know it doesn’t follow the overall well design, but I feel like such things can be bent if its for balance. It would work kinda like the heal well.

almost the same build I play on my mes, I just seem to prefer having the GS instead of the sword focus for situations when i dont want to be in the middle of the fight 24/7

Ive seen a huge improvement in the matchup making really. Class diversity is generally way better.
Honestly its just the lack of the season right now, also the new system has to start somewhere, this is a system where its impossible for it to work perfectly from the go.

I dont understand why people are complaining like its the games fault for making them lose games, is the matchmaking supposed to make you win? because thats what I feel like everyone is crying about. Everything is always the teams fault right, and everyone is always better then the people they are losing with obviously.

The matchmaking cant do miracles.

Couldn’t it be for example be something like “200 healing power per illusion up”? not sure about the number, that would be something you could adjust still but I’m sure you get the point.

Shattered Concentration is the biggest/only/main reason Mesmer is being picked over other zerk builds for high level spvp more commonly.
