Collaborative Development Topic- Living World

I dislike the direction that the Living World is going in for several reasons.

Zerg content: Massive amounts of players spamming auto attacks in a laggy and boring environment is not a fun execution of ‘Living World’ to me. Examples of this would be Scarlet’s invasions, Queen’s Pavilion (not gauntlet), Mad King’s maze champions, new Tequatl (large amounts of players just show up and go afk, ruining it for everyone else).

Scarlet: She doesn’t seem very frightening as a villian and doesn’t seem to add anything to the current lore. I’d rather the LW draw and build upon in GW1 lore instead of go in a direction that involves scarlet uniting different enemies with no real motive.

Rewards: Queen’s Gauntlet had nice rewards but was overly nerfed in my opinion. Main pavilion area farming was alright. Scarlet invasions loot was nerfed too much and the Aetherblades gave a disproportionate amount of loot. The new TA path is quite long and I don’t think 2g is balanced, though many of the other dungeons have questionable amounts as well (SE p2 1g, HOTW p3 1g, etc, Arah p3 1.5g, etc.).

CC/Condi Spam: This is mainly directed towards aetherblades but some other mobs fall into this category (Mummies). I enjoy mitigating CC and Conditions (preferably through dodging) but some of the aetherblades for example are in my opinion over the top when it comes to CC/conds. I would like the attacks to be diversified a bit more; the cc/condition ones to be put on cooldown in between other well-telegraphed attacks.

-

The good: I thought Queen’s Gauntlet (excepting annoying camera and nerfed rewards), Molten Facility and AR weren’t all that bad. The new TA path is quite interesting also – but the unskippable ‘cutscenes’/dialogue are annoying, as is the overemphasis on NPC aggro (generators, oozes, electric floor room). I want content that has interesting mechanics/enemies that is preferably instanced to prevent zergs from occuring (they ruin all enjoyment of the game for me). The daily rewards for resealing the Bloody Prince are also good I think though the fight itself is quite boring (no real mechanic except standing on the candy corn puddle and spamming auto attack on prince…). I also like the champions in Mad King’s Labyrinth, they are quite cool in a small group; I would prefer it if they were in an instanced dungeon instead of a lag-fight with massive particle effects in 60 person zerg.

Care to elaborate on this sentence?

What’s next? “The fact that critical damage on items ever existed is a bug.” “The fact that magic find was ever on items was a blatant bug.” “The fact that you could weapon swap at all was blatantly a bug.”

What did I just read…

CDI- Character Progression- Vertical

in CDI

Lamir.6702

Vertical progression is fine with me. Ascended gear became a great disappointment because of how it was obtained. From now on I will discuss ascended weapons.

First you need laurels, a time-gated currency gathered by completing tasks with little innovation.

Second you need mats that can only be obtained in uninteresting ways, like mining, in low level areas. Prime example of this is soft wood logs.

I don’t mind the vision crystal requirements, though I would comment that it’s a shame that massive zergs trivialize Temple events.

Finally the ascended weapon boxes in fractals with fixed prefixes instead of fixed weapon types, which makes the chance of getting a usable ascended weapon astronomically low for PvE.

The fact that a level 10 toon chopping down a tree for 4 soft wood logs gains more progress towards an ascended weapon than the 60 dungeon tokens you get for completing a dungeon or the Pristine/Regular fractal relics you get at the end of jade maw made me kind of sad. I wish these end-game currencies had more value for BiS gear.

You’re thread was a regurgitation of many others and happens to have 3 twins on the main page. Excuse us for not taking your imaginary problem more serious when it AND SOLUTIONS have been stated countless times before. IE. You don’t like how others play: find a group who agrees with how you’d like to play. The answers will always be the same when the NON-ISSUE is ALWAYS the SAME. See how that works?

You may think it’s a non-issue, but when I’m constantly having groups fall apart or people attempting to hijack my own party because they can’t handle a player being more than a pixel apart from another, then that’s when it becomes one for me.

I agree. You’re a LFG terrorist, and should be dealt with as such.

Please ANET fix Detha

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lamir.6702

Lamir.6702

I’ve never had this problem with Detha when I didn’t skip stuff and just killed things – Kholer, the gravelings and the oozes.

Although to “fix” the self-imposed bug, pulling oozes to kill Detha while the players stay out of the way and let her die sometimes works.

This bug should certainly be fixed, but if you don’t want Detha to bug in AC path 2, DO THE kitten CONTENT.

“Self-imposed bug.” I like the way you think.

The bug only happens when you skip content. I’ve had an undeniable 100% success rate by killing stuff. So yes, it’s self-imposed.

All bugs I encounter only happen when I start up the game client and log into the game. Ergo, all bugs I encounter are self-imposed.

The first step for things not being offensive is stop being offended by things.

If you don’t like it, fine. But letting a fantasy setting get to your head that much means you probably need to work on controlling your emotions better.

So many misplaced commas…Thanks for sharing your point about criticism being listened to better if it’s done in a constructive way, but that was pretty hard to read.

Also, this really sounds like a dev crosspost from a thread a month ago. On further investigation that thread is now deleted? Wonder why.

Feedback/Questions: MegaServer

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lamir.6702

The megaserver is a “mega” disappointment for me. My problems:

- Orr is constantly open with no way to check when/where it’s actually closed so I can open it for dragonite (previously I could use up to guest on 2 servers and all the temples on different toons for a ton of dragonite). This is a major disappointment – why did you have to make orr on megaserver? The way it works now only one group of people opens the Orr temples with no way to check where or when (thanks to event API now being useless), and any other groups have now nowhere to guest to open the temples for dragonite because it’s all on megaserver.
- World boss timers, especially for karka queen and Tequatl, alienate players who can’t conveniently show up to their designated times. Furthermore, it used to be fun and fast to go on a train visiting all the world events in succession – like from Maw to Wurm to Behe to Jormag (etc.) utilizing guesting when they’re all up. Now you have to wait an arbitrary 15 minutes in between events – that’s a lot of downtime and very boring imo. I stopped doing multiple world events in succession altogether after this patch.
- I uncontested a dungeon, immediately went inside and completed a path, then my party got put inside ANOTHER megaserver shard which had the dungeon contested. That’s unacceptable to me.
- I can’t say whether leveling is better as you meet more people, but I will say this – leveling alone used to be easy and efficient as nobody was killing all the mobs before I was there or stealing/upscaling all the events.

Benefits? I’m not seeing any. The populated PvE servers like Deso or Gandara always had a large train doing world bosses, and if you wanted a small group ‘private-like’ server you could always guest to Vabbi, etc.

I’m sorry Anet, I know you spent time working on this feature to improve gameplay, but at this point my only recommendation for it is to completely remove it from the game.

Tower Favors Defensive Builds, Thanks!

I simply hate running full zerk, for me that is not fun at all. (Except for kill shotting noobs in WvW.)

I run a hybrid DPS/Tank staff ele build. In normal PvE content, my defensive skills/traits/stats would be considered a problem, sacrificing DPS for no reason. However in the tower, my build is awesome. I still do enough damage to kill everything, and I have enough heals, condition cleanses, stability, and invulnerability to survive.

You have my thanks, Anet! This is the first PvE combat in months that I have enjoyed.

Funny thing, my zerk ele has heals, condition cleanses, stability and invulnerability too.

Lamir.6702

The megaserver has a very negative impact on the dungeon CoE. This dungeon is in Mount Maelstrom, which happens to also be the map where two megaserver bosses are located (megadestroyer and Mark II Inquest Golem). As a result, I’ve constantly been uncontesting CoE, go in to do a path only to be thrown out in a different megaserver shard where the dungeon is contested from the very beginning. This is so incredibly unfair, unreasonable, and there’s nothing you can really do about it because guesting is pointless and you have no control over getting back to the map you actually uncontested the dungeon on. We need a solution for this please…posting because it’s happened daily for the past week and is a majorly unnecessary time sink.

Lamir.6702

Thank you Anthony for the professional response. Many people here are just confused by what Bill meant by the mere existence of the consumables being a “blatant bug,”, which didn’t make much sense to many (including me).

I’m curious, it didn’t seem like there was a severe performance issue when using embers in dungeons with a small group compared to large scale events like Tequatl. Is there actually a severe performance impact in both of these cases, or was this change targeted at reducing lag for the large scale events instead? I ask because the large scale events have relatively long timers in between spawns, so the nerf doesn’t really affect them as much as it does running consecutive dungeons, or so I would think.

Option to disable burning effects

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Particle effects make it very difficult to read enemies. Two of the very worst offenders are blue burning and red burning particle effects. Just disabling these two would drastically improve my ability to read enemy tells instead of having to decipher their body within all the fire.

Please, Anet, I implore you to consider adding an option to at least disable these two effects if nothing else.

This “tournament” is a joke, that’s why the teams just left. DnT organised, this crap to be more famous, because nobody cares about thier and the community records. You dont need skill to stand in the corner and use FGS or switch skills while running in stealth. The “competition”, or anything you call it, will be the random factor. I think the organizers of this tournament and the “speed clear” community, just wants more fame.

Dont blame the teams left, they just lost the fun factor, because there wont be any.

This tournament is just for this “speed clear” crew, boring kitten will flow from the streams!

But this is my opinion, have fun…

Yes, because clearly [Inc] pavilion farm records like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSYaMrpL4l0 takes so much skill as well. Your pro guild obviously just made that video to become more famous; nobody cares about your kitten records either obviously. Wait what?

I can’t stand guilds and I will explain why. I like to play at my own pace. Like in real life, I don’t really get along with others, so joining a guild for me just never works. I’ve dropped all the other mmo’s I was playing because of my inability to play well with others.

I’m not sure an MMO is exactly a good choice for you then….there’s lots of single player games out of there. One of the biggest features of an MMO is playing with, against or alongside other people.

Enough with the Name Calling

in The Origins of Madness

Posted by: Lamir.6702

Lamir.6702

Yeah people can die due to missing a dodge, getting hit by a red circle or something. However, I think everyone should take a bit of self-responsibility and at least read up on the new events on dulfy or reddit or on the forums here to familiarize themselves with what to do because other people are depending upon you to succeed (obviously this isn’t the case the first day when no info is available but it’s already been quite a while). I also think people should be responsible and use DPS specs instead of play how you want builds. I also think not bringing level 80’s with at least exotic gear is irresponsible unless you don’t have a level 80 yet. In short, while people might not be good at dodging or rotations or whatever they should at least have the responsibility to do basic preparation before the fight.

I don’t think name calling gets anyone anywhere. But I think that some criticisms towards people that are responsible for failing the world event are justified.
