Just a reminder to everyone, WildStar is an Nsoft game (same as GW2), also many of the devs are from Vanilla WOW. Which is why you got the “WOW Look” with the “GW2 Combat Style.” Just bringing that up incase it was confusing anyone or people thought they were simply ripping the two off. GW2 is still a special place in my heart always as will GW. I may wonder off to other new shiny MMOs from time to time but I will always come back to GW2 as they release new things like Guild Battle or 4v4,3v3,2v2 no capture points and more. PVP has always been epic in GW2 and GW. Builds are always so fun to make and tinker with, and I know all my fellow Warr sad about Zerker changes but we all knew it was unbalanced as heck haha. But yeah back to main Topic, WildStar is not adding anything THAT knew but bringing back things people missed from vanilla WOW such as 40 man raids and an actual arena system that MMOs have been ignoring for some odd reason and that everyone in the WOW community (pvp) will not leave until other MMOs follow, and that is of course straight up PVP fights no gimics or control points. THey are nice dont get rid of them but need normal pvp.

Okay so in the interest of actually trying to apply the information you guys have given me. IF I had money (i dont gonna do fractols till i am 150g then start TP). This is my attempt at an investment.

If I had 10 gold or 100,000 copper, and bought beets at 4c each currently I would buy 100 stacks of 250. Beets have trended up to 30ish over twice, and with new cooking patch up and coming it is not crazy to think it will spike again, however even at ‘normal’ or ‘average’ price they are around 15-25c. So at the minimum I could sell at 15 copper and triple my money, or lets say i sell at 16c to help with trading fees. So that would turn 10g to 30g, for about 10 mins of work. (buying the mats storing then reselling plus checking TP every now and then when I sell stuff to look at price). Now I am not going to do this which is why i am revealing it. I want feed back if this would actually be a good investment or not if I WAS investing other than obvious bank space taken up.

Yeah but those are much rarer than the scraps even. I think when you buy a black lion chest its like lottery, decent chance at a scrap and then SUPER rare chance for some goodies. But yeah it is a scratch off, dont think you can buy 100 and be GUARANTEED to get what you need.

Sure the basis of RPing is in the story and the world events that come up all the time are nice for “Going out on adventures” and such but in the end having 100s-1000s emotes is nice add to it. As well as (and i am not suggesting this be added just saying) player housing, guild halls to hang out, more town clothes (much much much more, I want and I dont even RP). SWG had an amazing RP group just because the game evolved around communities so much, town meetings voting for city mayor (of play built cities were all the best vendors were.). I think that even though I didn’t even really RP hardly at all I still loved all the features it added to the game. idk just my thoughts.

Hey Armunn, please excuse the trolls, there’s frequent arguments here about going max dps here. Let me help catch you up:

1. -Going tanky in this game is not very rewarding, because bosses have attacks that hit so hard they can’t be eaten, even by a tank. You have to dodge/block/blind for survival. This leads to point #2…

1. -The optimal way to run pve content is with all high dps characters, especially the warriors. In GW2 the best defense is a good offense. That said, you don’t have to be the most optimal build to clear content, it just will be slower and arguably less reliable.

So back to the original question: Sw+Sh is a solid PVP/WVW option, but sword is not a strong pve dps weapon. Axe is really the king there. I would recommend picking up an axe, a mix of zerker and toughness gear, and practice your dps and avoiding damage, phasing in more zerk gear as you improve.

If you were dead set on being tanky, you might consider something like toughness/healing/condi damage gear, and focus on generating high bleed stacks with sword while being super tanky. You could take something like shout healing or banner healing with that. Just note that condi damage isn’t very desirable because multiple people using condi stacks pooly.

That kinda sums it up best why people will troll you over this type of build. 35k health or 10k health you are gonna be one hitted by a lot of stuff still. Thats why despite being tanky as F you will still go down as fast as a glasscannon ele if you do not dodge and such. ALSO no matter what way you look at it Axe is better than sword (PVP PVE WvW) which will also add to the trollness towards your sword shield build. Thirdly, and I am not trying to talk you out of the build I made you.. but… ANET put a ton of work into the combat system to get RID of the trinity (DPS,HEAL,Tank). So although there are some small ways to heal others and some ways to tank things here and there, there is no real option to be a ‘TANK’.

Keep in mind you would be BEST off using condition build with sword shield and having S/S off hand if your looking for DPS. This is more of the Tanky Meatshield though so you are getting more health with it. Course all aspect in this game require more dodging and timing than anything to stay alive. This is a really strong build though for just being tough to take down, try not to use your heal let the regan keep you up (use block when health getting low and regan take you back up to full health, also this has an auto shake off (remove conditions) as well as a regan when conditions put on you. Swap weapons often to use all abilities and you will gain a 20s might when going from sword shield to GS. Your crit chance is VERY low on this (which is not what people normally do) but you have good flat dmg and kitten ton of health (i suggest using adrenaline on you sword shield for extra DPS rather than getting fury with GS). This is a fun and unique build though.

It was not a huge mistake, i threw the primevil heavy armor on my warrior to level in style. During your quest you will get many transmutation stuff (make sure you don’t waste lvl 80 ones) also make sure you do map completion. I get new armor every 5-10 levels and transmute them to new armor.

Yeah as you said it is a central hub and IS being rebuilt. Dunno if layout will remain same though. In good news the pro show off gear in tightly crowed airship. SO go there if you’d like. Or is this the push for us to start using trinity as a new hub? haha jk no one goes to that kittenhole.

Lets see, kitten soulbound zerker gear for my warrior and two sets for memser, all soul-bound and worth kitten, all my money invested in penny mats, I am worth maybe 50G after I sold all my MATS at face value if I REALLY needed something.

That’s why they need to be buffed.

I concur, Warriors need a buff not a nerf.

It is so much fun though, it is like penny stocks, I feel the excitement and the thrill of potential returns, especially since I said something about the mithril market and it rose made so much money (maybe bailed to early but still.) I love going all in on stuff, especially when its rock bottom prices.

When you consider opportunity costs that is a very poor investment (and we don’t know if mithril will ever reach 60c again anytime soon)

You were better off investing in Scarlet’s Rifle earlier this week when it was 100G and now over 200G (and can reach to +400G by the end of this event)

The only way you can make a profit off of speculating commodities is to have a 2nd account and accumulate volume through TP storage.

I have seen hoards of RPers on my server. I see it in explorable zones, I see it in ALL cities, we have guilds that trek around RPing with 50+ people at a time.

Maybe it is just my server then. Or maybe my own tunnel vision, that I have not once seen somebody RP on Henge Of Denvari. I hang out in cities in my down time run all around map for the completion and pug many groups for dungeons.

So a couple of “unofficial servers” are RPing and that why I see none on Henge Of Denvari? And I find it hard to believe there is a big group of RPers. and yes SWG was best game of all time for ANYTHING not just RP. RIP SWG

I do not think the game is full of anymore noobs than any other game, I just think that the game is full of Zergs, and lets be honest, you’ve had the TV on watching a show well you mindlessly followed the swarm around throwing down some aoe dmg here or there. I’m guilty. Play dumb when the game is easy, doesn’t require me to think or do anything but follow and attack. I think in dungeons people normally up their game (or try).

I would speculate that at the rate ANet is going, being tied down with China Release and living story (which is NOT going away), they are going to do this big feature patch then add some events here and there, maybe one dungeon and MANY bug fixes, and let that coast them through the year, with of course the living story. I think it will about a year before we see actual expansion with new zones and races. Sorry to say. In good news these patch updates that have been talked about are exciting!

I expected the kind of things for the really large feature-build Colin mentioned in his comment – things you can not properly deliver by LW season 2. Things like new zones, races or dungeons would perfectly fit in season 2 and can be delivered by telling a story.

People keep throwing new races out there. A new race is not coming anytime soon. For the same reason they will never let you have a “race Change” ability from GEM STORE. The entire “Character Story (I know over 50% people don’t give a kitten about them)” is based on race, so by changing race you’d “miss out on the whole story (again I would not care but this is the ANET argument)”. So a race would be a HUGE undergoing and would be released with AT LEAST 3 zones I would guess (Town, 1-15 starting zone, 15-30ish leveling zone all races have) but maybe and hopefully a 4th zone that is a new end game zone with dungeon. This will probably be in an expansion somewhere down the road. Not in a feature update I can promise you that.

Just to beat a dead horse into the ground here…. Mithril has never really been worth much because it is the most over collected item and yet very underused. This is why I am speculating that it WILL go up, because I think that ANET will attempt to fix this problem as they did with iron (Previously most worthless ore). Mithril is in all the end game zones, however many people stop mining it after 1 or 2 stacks of 250. Again similar to iron. I am not saying this will be soon but I am saying I think it will go up a lot in the next year. I think ANY mat will have its up and downs through out the year, but because Mithril is so broken right now I think it will get the needed attention of ANET and have the big possibility of a large increase in price. Or just stay sucky who knows, this is pure speculation on its lowest forum I call Gambling. Ha ha

Wish I had a minus 1 for this guy, who obviously didn’t play GW1. I say this is a brilliant idea with just a COUPLE of my own thoughts on it. Getting money well AFK would be nice but it would also be OP. I say this is purely off kindness of your heart so no earning anything well in ‘hero afk’ mode. I am sorry but it would just be abused, (example if I am gonna farm a DUNGEON with guildies we will rotate a system only using heros so we are running it 24/7), . Second I think it should only be between Guildmates. Thirdly since we are not earning money we should not lose any either, meaning if armor is dmg no fees to player when they log back on.

Thanks for tips guys, Alliance Bags, Silver Ore both seem like good ideas, I think I am just behind the curve with them. I will attempt to grab a little profit where I can as patch day nears.

I think porting to friends would be fun upgrade for us (out of combat obviously). I think guild porting to guild officers should of been a thing for awhile, much better to meet up for events such as guild puzzles, although again this is extremely lazy because they are all near WP.

Not really play 2 win that is little overkill. Resurrection confusing but honestly I think it hardly gets used all that often other than AFTER boss fight for lazy kitten who laid there well I finish boss off. Access to Bank and TP, you basically have the TP to sell where ever you go do not get lazy on me, bank, oh well honestly this game is really friendly to not needing to go to bank often at all. (deposit collectibles, salvage, sell high priced items to TP) . I Personally think you may be over reacting to this, despite it is a very very very very small slight advantage quality of life upgrade that SHOULD generate millions for ANET and give us more game upgrades. Yeah, I remember seeing more people “RP” from time to time any other MMO like star wars Galaxies. I wonder if GW2 will ever have an RP server. I do not mind them if they are not in my way, its only in large events I would be angry if I see someone RPing on the side of a lane in Marionette

Elitiest bubble? sounds like you and your wife CO-OPed the game, join a guild (i know crazy but it is GUILD wars). Mine helps out anyone running story mode dungeons and also with any problems they run into as well as helping out with fun events like guild puzzles etc.

I do not RP, so it never crossed my mind until I saw someone mention it in a forum. How would anyone RP in this game? ZERO ALMOST no emotes and the same goes for town clothes let alone any social events. Unless you count mini games which I do not. So I am just curious is there any real RP community in GW2? I like emotes just to be goofy same with town clothes but how frustrated must you all be?

okay so you have pretty much talked me out of mithril ore, it SEEMS to me the best way to play market is with high priced skins, (buying a 100 gold skin that in a few weeks jumps to 500 gold). I sadly do not YET have that kinda capitol. So for me I am wanting to invest in lots of things and then on the side with my alt I am stock piling for one big flip that will put me into ‘the game’ of TP. I think at this point though we should almost start a new thread called “Speculation” to discuss possible buy ins. Although I kind of like the hidden speculation conversations buried within this thread. Knowledge = Power

I will add a disclaimer that the best Warrior I ever found who posted about builds (no single build almost everything depending on fight) said that sword is only used for jumping around avoiding or passing mobs and mainhand axe will always be better under current state of weapons . Shield is pretty much same thing too, which is annoying to all the people that just love the look of Sword Shield.

I always have a steady stream of gold on hand. What I do:

1, buy limited run non account bound items (ex Karka minis)
2, keep everything I farms selling it only when it spikes for some reason, so if I need to craft anything I always have the mats
3, basic kits for all salvaging except Rares, which I use mystics
4, sell exotics above 2g, salvage ones below with the odd BL kit I have laying around
5, as many world bosses as I can every day
6, chains like melandru, with zergs, which scale up lots of mobs, much more opportunity for wealth than boss chests themselves.

I rarely do dungeons, never do fractals, WvW once in a while when I am running low on badges.

For me, 6 is probably the most important if you aren’t doing heavy trading. More kills, more loot.

My methods may not be the best, but I have crafted 4 legendaries (sold one) and only dungeon tokens would hold me back from making another at any time.

I have world completion 3 times and 10 level 80’s over about 4500 hours.

While waiting for Tequatl, I usually run a boss chain in Sparkfly to keep my drops-per-minute up

If you are running with a Zerg, do research to learn how to get the highest possible kill count. Sometimes Blackgate Zerg is too big and it’s easier to get kills on a mid sized server like Crystal Desert.
