[request] /resign option for raids

How the heck is 8 out of 10 players when almost everyone is dead before boss reaches 50%, or even all 10 calling for a wipe trolling?!

And yes, 30 seconds is a long time to have to wait unnecessarily after every failed attempt when you’re doing 30 attempts in a row (slippery slubling or practicing specific setups come to mind).

As for Arenanet having more important stuff to focus on, I am well aware of that and ofc I’m not expecting an immediate change with how resetting raid bosses works, but I’m pretty confident that developers can walk and chew gum at the same time, i.e. that they can do more than one thing at a time. A lack of a quick boss reset is defo not the biggest problem in the game, but it’s annoying for many people and a fix might very well be quite simple. Like Voori said, a fractal callvote would suffice, or even a simple /die command that would instakill you.

Pls give us a /resign option like we had in GW1 to make respawning in raids faster. Say, if 8 out of 10 people in the squad type /resign, the squad wipes and can immediately restart.

With weaker squads or in achievement runs, some kills can take many tries and having to wait for those last few people to die at the end of a failed attempt is a frustrating waste of time. I’ve also seen the last two people alive run around purposefully trying to stay alive, just to annoy everyone, even though the attempt was obviously a fail.

We need this.

Thank you.

Brief description of what you’re seeing
Two “types”, although the second one might be the same as the first, except in shorter intervals:

a.) Skills unusable, everything untethered and moving in their last known direction, followed by a sped-up recovery or, growing more and more common, a disconnect:

Video from September 8 (I think), 22:38 GMT+2: http://youtu.be/JZ0LoZGNT1g
Guild chat was unaffected. Dungeon opener was from Seafarer’s Rest, I think. My connection survived all those spikes, but I’ve been getting more and more DCs since then.

b.) everyone rubberbanding and teleporting around, to the point where I can’t tell where I’m standing or what I’m doing, skills may or may not work, followed by me ragequitting or an occasional DC.

Type a. clears up after a few spikes (or once you DC), but b. likes to stick around till the event/fight is finished. The latter is more common at Teq and in WvW. World boss events get both types (we had 30+ DC at the same time at Tequatl last week, causing us to fail a battery defence), but other instances are affected as well.

Does the lag only happen while you’re in a PvP map? Does it also occur in the PvP lobby? Other maps?
I don’t do sPvP. Happens in WvW (we had massive lag and mass DCs approx. 2 hours ago on Deso bl whenever we came close to an enemy zerg), bosses, Dry Top, dungeons… not in LA tho.

How long does the lag spike last? Does it ever clear up?
Spikes can be short, once only or several in a row, but I get spikes of up to a minute as well (see video above).

Of your last 5 GW2 play sessions, in how many of them did you experience lag?
All of them, mainly coz my sessions last for hours.

Are there specific times of day when do or you don’t experience lag?
No clue; I tend to lose track of time while playing, sry.

When do you remember first experiencing lag of this severity in GW2?
It started small about a month and a half to two months ago and been steadily growing worse ever since. I rarely lagged and practically never DCed prior to that.

Do you also experience lag playing other games? NCsoft games like Wildstar?
There are no other games.

Do you live in NA or EU?
EU

Are you playing on NA or EU servers?
EU

Was your account ORIGINALLY created on NA or EU?
EU

Whisper lag If I switch between guilds a few times in a row, representing them back and forth and doing searches in guild rosters, my outgoing whispers can start lagging afterwards and I’m sometimes not be able to open a new whisper. Bonus points: I am then no longer able to see the account names of the players around me in the report pop-up unless I relog.

Guild alliances with an option to share chat.

An option for large alliances to create a new map instance (two per day max, to prevent spammage) and keep it “reserved” for alliance members for 2 minutes max. Members should join the map via a button in the guild panel. Could impose a requirement of 50+ alliance members confirming in the guild panel that they wish to join the new map once it’s created, similar to the WvW queues. Such maps could auto-close after 1 hour.

An option for guild leaders to send a guild-wide alert – a single line of text – to all members, be they representing or not at the time (e.g. “guild missions starting in 5 min, pls join us on TS if you wish to take part”). The guild panel could give members the option to turn off such alerts for each guild individually.

Pretty sure time is still a major factor tho. I transferred from server A to server B, did hardly any WvW on A, completed most season achievements on B, continued to play on B, yet I’m still tied to A after being on B for over three weeks now.
I don’t blame anyone for it tho – I should have changed servers sooner instead of being a ninny and putting it off till it was too late.

Oh, about the language problem:

Perhaps you could introduce a few more chat types? Similar to saychat/mapchat, which are green/red and which can be switched off. Make /de for mapchat in German, /it for Italian, /fr French, /esp Spanish… maybe give them tiny icons if you’ve run out of colours.. something like that, I dunno, work it out. Whoever doesn’t understand a specific language could then block that chat type. It would cut down on the bratwurst/baguette insults and peeps who don’t speak English might find it convenient as well. You’d need to ask them whether this would suit them.

This ofc wouldn’t do diddly for the problems associated with organizing 150 players who don’t have a language in common and getting them ready for wurm or even Tequatl, but it’s something.

Non-English Languages, culture, map chat.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lannah.1283

It is considered a matter of courtesy to speak the language that everybody present can understand, be it English or something else, depending on the situation – in real life. If you and your friends can all speak Italian, for example, you will use Italian if even one Italian who cannot understand your native language is present, even when speaking with each other and even when the discussion does not involve the guest. Not doing so is rude. For the most part, that’s how it is on TeamSpeak as well. My German friends speak English when I’m on their channel, even when there are 10 of them and 1 of little me. In mapchat tho, you’ll see anything. You’re expected to use the official language in the home maps of a “regional” server (German, French, Spanish), whereas international servers are a free-for-all, though English is the de facto language of choice, simply because that’s what most people understand. Those who don’t, might have a bad time with this megaserver business. As for the insults… yeah. Anonymity can bring out the worst in people. Eventually, the bratwurst and baguette jokes will grow old.

The megaserver has made things worse/impossible for:
- native server communities and server pride
- world-boss communities (feedback from TxS, feedback from the Deso GW2 community)
- Guild missions for large guilds
- the roleplayers
- calls for WvW support in mapchat or advertizing WvW events in mapchat
- guild recruitment
- players with weaker computers (lagfests, FPS slideshows, disconnects, client crashes have made the game unplayable for some)

Most of the problems have to do with not being able to get everyone from your guild or alliance into the same instance (and on time for whatever you’re gathering for).

It’s cool if you’re a solo player with little interest in the community, a player unwilling to pay for a transfer to a higher-pop server, or if you’re just levelling up, roaming, and not really planning to take part in anything organized on a larger scale. I’m sure the game feels fresh then. Old-timers who have spent time and effort on building a community of some sorts, however, got stiffed.

And once the boss communities do have the consumable it becomes elitist too. No longer will it be the everyone is welcome

Exactly! “Get off the map, so the people who paid for this event can get in!”
Couple that with the megaserver %&!# where maps are full of randoms and you have a flaming ball of rage. Le customers will hate on randoms just for being there and some randoms will troll back coz that’s how they roll. Ah, the love! Now kiss.

Seems worse with more people around as well. I felt like I was just throwing my body at the priest earlier today. Run, leap, bodyslam (with your tiny Asura body), die, waypoint. Still, it’s doable, if you can get people to listen, just tedious. I don’t see people doing it very often once they have their traits unlocked tho.

Guild Alliances on Upcoming Patch

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lannah.1283

Lannah.1283

Mind, this megaserver business isn’t messing up only serious Teq/wurm attempts, but server communities as well. On each server, individuals have been working hard to build some server pride, a sense of joint effort around PvE events, improving ties between guilds, encouraging people to meet up on TeamSpeak, getting players to show up and try at all, teaching Teq tactics and so on. Good luck getting those groups into the same megaserver map. It was hard enough getting players to show up for attempts without having to taxi them to the “correct” map instance. Work with what you’ve got on the map? Lol, try coordinating people who all speak different languages and who know that they’ll likely never see you again. It’s like GW2 and 4chan mushed together. In French. And German. Some Italian. Czech. You get my point.

Another thing: guild missions for large guilds… smh. We did them today with 20ish people and we kept landing on different maps, then having to partytaxi each other around. Now do that with 100+ people. Now impose a time-limit, such as the one for bounty. Also, any guild member can start a mission in any megamap instance. Now mix in some new players, who don’t know where the missions are, how to get to your map, that they should let you know if they’re killing your bounty with some random people and not to touch the mission banners. funtimes for all, esp. guild leaders

edit- veering this post back on track: The megaserver is messy for guild “alliances” like TxS AND for general server communities AND for large guilds. At least keep a few instances of maps open at all times and number them, then let us pick which one to go to, like in GW1. Or something.

Guild Alliances on Upcoming Patch

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lannah.1283

Lannah.1283

My initial optimism and trust = fail. I don’t speak as an official representative of TxS, but as far as I can see, the cost of upgrading any of our guilds on any server to the required stage & then building individual consumables de facto rules out daily on-demand spawns for the foreseeable future.
So just do them on overflows at the automatic spawn times? We will try, but I can see in this thread that many players are clueless about how tedious and frustrating it can be to put together successful kills on overflows. Prep-time just went from 10mins to possibly an hour or more. You can be sure that the people who have killed the wurm 50 times already won’t want to camp on a map for an hour every day just so they can do a 15min event – not when they can fart in the general direction of a dungeon and get more loot in 15mins than from that bleepin wurm and Teq put together. Fail the boss event a few times on top of that and see how many people still show up on the fourth day.
Involve other guilds? We might, I don’t know and it’s not up to me, but that sounds like a lot of hassle for the organizers and has major grief/resentment potential. If the relaxed groove that we’ve got going on right now should be shattered by any inter-guild drama, then the reward might not be worth the trouble, which is why the organizers might be somewhat reluctant to jump on that option.

There are some mixed messages in this patch as well. I presume the changes are to encourage server communities to band together, sing kumbaya and attempt kills more often. On the other hand, they limit the groups that actually do kill those bosses. Players, go, do these events more often! No, wait, stop, you’re doing them too often! Players, go and kill these bosses! Wait, do not kill them every time, fail instead! You should succeed only once per week! Players, wait, why are you leaving? >:-E

What we can hope for now is for Anet to at least reduce the cost of starting the events and create a separate and cheaper/faster guild upgrade tier for this (not gonna happen, I know, I should stop trying already).
As for giving us a way to easily meet up on the same map… there is no hope for that anymore.

Bleh, more hoops to jump through some of us will do it, but we will resent it

We don’t have all the details yet. Things might not all turn out to be quite that tragic, but Agent is right to raise these concerns now and not after the patch. Still, I’m inclined to trust Anet to come up with something that will work for both TxS and the general community.

I can see why Anet would want to limit spawns to a few times per day (focal points for the casual player, gives gravity to the bosses, reduces money influx), but the announced change is too drastic. The megaserver is great for casuals on low pop servers (players on high-pop servers probably won’t notice any substantial differences), but it has to come with some separate solution for communities like TxS, TSS, and megaguilds. The devs know this and let’s hope that this thread clarifies what exactly is needed.

TxS won’t disband over this. We will adapt and move on, but these ridiculous spawn times and map issues will defo do some serious damage. It’s quite possible that we won’t be able to get an empty map (let’s not discuss why we need an empty-ish map for wurm, just accept the fact that we do need/want one), kills might not be guaranteed anymore and the outcome might no longer be worth the frustration/fails, causing people to just not bother anymore. Casual community attempts will be funneled into those few time-slots even before the megaserver hits Sparkfly/Bloodtide and let’s not forget that TxS is not the only group who does these events on a regular basis. Other groups will also be competing for empty maps. On the other side of the coin, we might not have enough people to do some runs at all, due to spawn time restrictions.
Paying for private instances with gems would be a very bad solution for us, imo, since you cannot collect a fee from 1000+ people and donations will only take you so far.
Spawning the bosses at will sounds decent, so long as the merit/influence cost is not prohibitive and only if we don’t have to wait a few months before we can do that (and watch our members drift away in the meantime). But again, pls give us an option to create a private instance (for free or for a nominal fee).

Somewhat off-topic: if anyone thinks that we should get off our elitist high horse and instead help the general server communities and whatnot… what makes you think we don’t already do that? We don’t shout it from the highest tower, but a heck of a lot of players joined TxS, figured out how to get kills efficiently and transferred that knowledge to their home servers. Not just the organizers, but everyone who shows up for their home community kills. TxS is a place to learn as well as to enjoy clean kills, so pls give us space where we can do that.

As for the TxS vs pug thing, that entire discussion is off-topic imo.

Josh Foreman on the Wurm: “We were making that specifically for the hard core groups that are all about the organization and figuring out the strategy and tactics.” (source)
Thank you, Anet. Now pls give us space to gather in and some decent spawn times so we can organize for that content.

The only reply I got from support was 4 sentences that are not even relevant to my complaint. I replied immediately, expecting more than a brush-off. That was 7 days ago.

The person who is harassing me has continued to do so since then and I could have updated my ticket again, but I see no point.

The thread I created on this forum and which can be found here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Do-you-ban-for-this-type-of-harassment was closed without an official reply.

Thus far, support has been decidedly unhelpful.

@Draygo: Indeed. I don’t expect my current guild to kick me tbh because I’ve done just that, showed them screenshots and others have backed me up, but player memories are short and there is no telling what that guy will come up with next.

@mercury: Ofc, I blocked both his accounts. He can see what guild I’m in when he clicks on my character. We’re both on Aurora Glade, so we run into each other at times.

Either way, my question stands: is this bannable (or: does Anet have the resources to investigate fully)?

I’m requesting clarification on whether or not ArenaNet views the following as (bannable) offences.

Short story: A guy has managed to convince 50+ players that I am the Devil and they now ignore me, he is falsely accusing me of harassment/stalking, he lied and got me kicked from one guild, he impersonated me and contacted others (lied to people while pretending to be me), he contacted my officers and he is still actively trying to get me kicked from my current guild, he is still shaming me to whomever will listen.

Long story:
A player I used to play with and chat with every day until we had a falling out in December has led a campaign against me and has been attacking me by:

- telling the officers of a guild we were both members of (and that I joined before he did) that I have been harassing/stalking him and that he has had to change servers and guilds 4 times in the past 6 months in order to get away from me and that I have been making false accusations about him;
- to support the lie that I have been accusing him of things, he created a character with a name nearly identical to the names that I use, whispered people and falsely accused himself of wrongdoing (people are too naive to check the account name of the person whispering them, so they believed that I really was whispering them and attacking him);
- as a result, I was kicked from that guild; the officers never contacted me prior to kicking me and afterwards they outright refused to speak with the people who know both me and this liar and who did dungeons with us both in the party in the last 6 months and who can confirm that he and I were friends till December, nor did the officers wish to see a screenshot I made this summer which shows him in my party, giving me his email and saying nice things about me via whisper, proving that we were indeed friendly;
- using his second account to whisper the officers of my current guild and telling them that I have been trying to sell guild invites in Lion’s Arch, which almost got me kicked from the guild;
- using his main account to contact my officers and reiterating the same lie, saying that I have been stalking him, that he has had to change guilds/servers and that I am the one harassing him, all the while using the fact that he managed to get me kicked from the previous guild as proof that his lies are truth;
- contacting players we both know and telling them that I have been badmouthing them behind their back, until they believed it and started to shun me.

I’m usually not a whiny person, but I do hate wondering what accusations will be flung at me next, always wondering whether I’m going to be kicked from my guild & I resent the fact that he is being allowed to do this.

Does Anet keep whisper logs that are months old? A lot of what he has done has been via TeamSpeak, but whispers should show the real picture as well. Is this guy’s behavior bannable or do you only ban for direct insults? Imo this is much more malicious than name-calling. I don’t know, perhaps it is too complicated to check and compare old logs. I don’t want to sound bitter or sarcastic, I simply don’t know.

I submitted a support ticket on 20 January 2013 (request #280231). On Jan 25, I updated it and got a “currently under review” reply. 6 days later (on Jan 31) I updated again and included a screenshot. No reply since (in 4 days). I still see the guy in LA every day, dancing around me. Should I just stop trying? If what he has done / is still doing is not considered an offence, I will stop updating my support ticket.
