The differences between English and Russian
Introduction: Russian is part of the Slavonic branch of the Indo-European language family. It is closely related to other Slav languages such as Polish, Czech and Serbo-Croatian. Russian is spoken as a mother tongue by about 150 million people in Russia and the former republics of the USSR.
English and Russian are very different in many important aspects. In particular the grammar systems show significant variations. English has a fairly fixed word order. Meaning is expressed through the addition of words (for example auxiliaries) and movement of words within limited boundaries. Russian, on the other hand, conveys meaning largely through changes in the composition of words (e.g., by inflections or the addition of prefixes and suffixes). Its word order is very fluid. Because of these differences Russians often find learning English a serious challenge.
Alphabet: Russian is written using the Cyrillic alphabet, some of whose letters are similar to letters in the Latin alphabet used by English. Russian learners of English may experience initial problems writing in English. These problems should decline as, following the fall of the Iron Curtain, Russians become more exposed to English in their everyday lives.
Phonology: Due to differences in the phonological systems, it is relatively difficult for Russians to acquire native-speaker-like standards of pronunciation and intonation. Russian consists of 5 vowel sounds, with no differentation between short and long vowels. This contrasts with English which has 12 vowel sounds (5 long, 7 short), plus 8 diphthongs. Possibly the most significant vowel difficulty for Russians is the sound in her / cur. This sound seems to cause especial difficulties in words beginning with /w/, such as were / work / worth. Other vowel problems include the failure to discriminate between the sounds in sat / set or sit / seat.
Russian has a similar number of consonants to English, but their sounds do not fully overlap. The /?/ and /ð/ sounds do not exist in Russian, so words such as thin, then and clothes are predictably difficult. As with many other learners of English, the /w/ and /v/ sounds are troublesome, west being pronounced vest, for example, or vice versa. The ng sound at the end of words like sing or thinking is difficult for Russian learners to produce accurately. Such words often end up as sin or thinkin.
Russian has variable stress patterns, as English. However Russian learners may give undue prominence to words that English native speakers would swallow; for example as and has in the following sentences: He’s as strong as an ox / She has 3 brothers. Russian learners may ask questions with falling instead of rising intonation, which does not sound polite to English native speakers.
Grammar – Verb/Tense: Russian and English convey meaning through the verb systems in different ways. The Russian system is based in the concept of aspect: actions are either completed or not completed. This is shown by appending affixes to the verb stem. There are few auxiliary verbs. This contrasts with English which has progressive and perfect tense forms, and avoids the need for affixation or inflection by the extensive use of auxiliaries.
These differences result in problems in many areas. For example beginning learners often omit the auxiliary in questions or negatives: How you do that? / I no have it. The present simple is commonly used where the progressive form or perfect is needed: She has a bath now / How long are you in Germany?. In comparison with Russian the modal verb system in English is very complex. Mistakes such as Must you to work on Friday? / I will not can come, etc. are common among beginners. The lack of a copula in Russian leads to errors such as She good teacher.
Grammar – Other: Russian has no articles. This causes significant problems because the whole concept of article use is alien to Russian learners of English, and the English article system itself is extremely complex. All Russian nouns are one of three genders. This results in problems such as: Have you seen my book? I put her on the table.
Miscellaneous: Russian is a largely phonetic language. This means that a word’s pronunciation can be predicted from its spelling and its spelling from its pronunciation. This is certainly not the case in English, and usually causes Russian learners serious difficulty and frustration.
There are aspects of the Russian language which, if directly transferred into English conversation, may sound abrupt or impolite to English native speakers: Would you like to play tennis tomorrow? – No, I wouldn’t or Tell me where is the railway station, please. or Can you play the piano? – Yes, of course.

Russian language is the most widely spoken among Slavic languages. You should certainly learn it – there are about 300 million total speakers of Russian in the world.
Russian became one of the languages of world communication – a global language – as early as in the twentieth century. Today, there are less than ten global languages in the world. This means that the Russian language – just like English, French or German – is used for communication by a very large number of people around the globe. In addition, Russian is one of the official UN languages. Out of approximately 300 million people in the world who know Russian, 160 million people consider it to be their native language. The Russian language is ranked the fifth most prevalent language in the world.

What the hell are you afraid of? I have a huge guild full of helpful people and I don’t get yelled at. O_O. No heroes, thank you.
Because of problems with the language (writing through translator), I can not create a squad of players! In the old game, I can easily play with Heroes and Mercenaries.
In the old game, the characters and the presence of mercenaries, not hurt you to create groups of players. From what fright ArenaNET, agreed that there are a hindrance?
In the caves, after a hard enough level to go there only to them. It just needed units of the players. In the dynamic and other events, they are not a hindrance.
If I have Heroes and Mercenaries, this does not mean that I run past the player who needs help. I’ll help him.
But this is half the battle.
Very often, the enemies in PVE, have groups or many. It is a problem for the solo.

Ok…I’m going to put the record on again. Level scaling makes gaining levels in general irrelevant. Why have levels at all if you engage in level scaling? It makes no difference if you are level 1 or 80 if, when you enter differing regions, your character automatically becomes the level corresponding to that region. There is no sense of your power level when scaling is used. if you are level 50 then you are level 50 period….regardless of what area of the world you are visiting. The whole concept is utterly laughable to think your level changes not because you have gained experience, but rather you have stepped across some imaginary boundary between geographical regions. The whole concept of level scaling is completely absurd and has no logical use in a game.
I agree with you. Now accounts for a long-awaited, when the character becomes the same level as the territory. This greatly hinders the game!
It would be good if the enemy level reduced to the level of your character.
(edited by Lara Kroft Rus.3954)
I noticed that even if the cursor pointed enemy, often the first attack of the bow is to the side. A sword, he has an air mixing. Fix please!
I recently saw the Charr, which the player has put to sleep …. under a leaf of grass.
I hate the Charr, for what they destroyed in the first game Askolon, meadows, rivers and forests, which I loved. But, I was terrified of sleeping like a tramp Charr!
Game developers themselves, where sleep, at home or on the street?
You are wrong, read, writes ArenaNET, Ranger – it’s not a scout, he is a warrior with light armor class!
Ranger is an adventurer, and wears medium. Ranger’s are scouts, and anyone that says differently, regardless of who they are, is silly and doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
Interesting fact. Scouts are usually soldiers with lighter armor, which is what I think you actually meant.
You idiots ArenyNET employees called?!
In the game there are no doctors and tanks – ArenaNET make everyone equal! If you do not watch out, the blog ArenyNET – that’s your problem.
And the armies of the world, the Rangers called U.S. Marines or Russian airborne troops. And not spies!
A ranger is a person that generally knows the terrain and wildlife As per fantasy based lore ( IE: DnD and many follow companies)
You are obviously not from america by the way you type in bad English and grammar.
And the armies of the world, the Rangers called U.S. Marines or Russian airborne troops. And not spies!
This statement is so wrong I couldn’t stop laughing
US Marine Corp the worlds Rangers this is laughable, by historical sense ( rangers were scouts ) therefore a FO ( or Forward Observer ) or Pathfinder ( army ) would be the Rangers of modern times. Also being part of the 82nd Airborne 1/504 Devil in Baggy Pants, and doing the royal Dragon Jump ( which in tells the worlds best paratrooper teams from around the world ) And Russia never being a part of that tells me that Russia is far from elite when it comes to paratroopers. Not to Mention the only Military group that has the Tag Rangers on it is the United States ARMY Rangers.
To the OP
Arena Net listens to it’s player more so than any other company out there, just because they may not implement your idea or suggestion doesn’t mean they don’t listen
Friend, go to the library and read a book on the subject. Rangers.
First, they appeared in England. their task is not intelligence, and the first to arrive at the scene and fight with the enemy.
I did not want to hurt your Marines, but if they are fighting the last, sorry, I did not know it. In the Russian Army, paratroopers goes before and no one in front of them will not start. As was the custom, the British Ranger (read above), when they were created.
Of airborne troops of Russia, it is in vain you say!!!!
(edited by Lara Kroft Rus.3954)
I’m not sure what any of that meant, but no. I did not say idiot, I said silly and didn’t know what they were talking about. I played a Ranger in GW1 and I play a Ranger in GW2. Rangers are scouts and if someone, even from ANet, claimed they were warriors in light armor, they were silly and didn’t know what they were talking about. Even if they were the lead developer in charge of designing the class. I play the class, they’re not warriors in light armor or otherwise. They’re scouts.
Not sure what any of this has to do with longbows, of course, just trying to help set you straight.
Earlier, may have been spies. The new all made ??equal. Now, any class can attack and not to act as bait. The latter, in GW-1 I just hated!
And if you take the story is not the game, and real life. That the Rangers, this unit is not intelligence. Rangers – is landing. Rangers are fighting until the main forces on the way. Trick arrows, it is contrary to Rangers from a real army.

The skills are fine , but for wv3 the weapons could do with a trait buff to put them on a par with other classes.
sPvP and Pve are fine, but a +6%-10% damage trait vs Wv3 PCs would IMO even out the field, and help them fulfill the Scout role better. You are wrong, read, writes ArenaNET, Ranger – it’s not a scout, he is a warrior with light armor class!

No, make Mercenaries and Heroes, as in the old. Yesterday came to the city, and there the speakers are turned, the battle of 10 against me alone.
My suggestion:
In the instanced world it would be fun if there could be some events where enemies would attack your house or if many players got houses in the same area as in a village the event would scale.
I object! I have enough battles, I come to the hotel in the city to have a rest from them. and you want to and my house was attacked, when it will be built!
Once ArenaNET, build a house, you’ll find in Tyria, shoot a bow. And I will make of thee a scarecrow to frighten the centaurs, from my house.
I agree with you. Only differently:
Attack 4 – Point Blank Shot
Attack 5 – Bombardment of the selected area, fire arrows, burning enemies (not limp)
(edited by Lara Kroft Rus.3954)
Please, do as the old game when see who collects squad. And make invitations, as it was in GW-1. Very hard to find a party.
Dear ArenaNET you in the new game you have decided to gather all the nations on the same server.
Do you take into account that people are different levels of language training and that they are not always able to understand each other?
Please insert translator in chat games to allow players to communicate.
Even the facebook, have a translator!
You are asked to translate even the Italians game in their language. I seriously wonder if the problem in Italy with a second language, but in Russia it is and serious.
ArenaNET, your employees and promised to solve the problem at the beginning of the year, but he did not!
Why do players have to delete characters to play with new ones?
It is now we are in Tyria, but when the continuation of the game is done, will have to re-create the characters! Why not give them to save?
Please increase the number of cells characters!
Please tell me why only 5 cells to create characters?
Given the number of professions and races, there must be at least 10.
Say, not enough room for houses? So can follow any responses to make, in a closed world. But he was not robbed in the absence of the owner and do not capture.
And you cann’t imagine how ArenaNET, lost customers, not making the Russian localization! This is their commercial failure!
A translator, chat games, you can? And then we have to reprint the text in translate.gugle.
Yes, English is simple, but the author (Fjandi.2516) forgot one thing that other languages, may be arranged life more difficult than English. That they are not so easy to translate from English.
Russian is one of the most difficult languages, in the world. To make an accurate translation in Russian must be a professional expert linguist. ArenaNET offers do players who do not have professional training!
Believe me, even Google, translates from English into Russian so that sometimes I do not understand the translation.
One English word that can be translated in several ways Russian words. Ie you need to know which of the Russian words you must choose. Depends on it, you get the correct order or receive an offer, which will have a different meaning.

I fully agree with Alcarin 0,9024, so as I have such a problem Ms in the game.
I also have a number of suggestions:
1) Make a 4 -5 weapon bar. Two combinations of weapons in combat is not enough.
2) To make the game Mercenaries and Heroes, as it was in the old game.
Developers lied, saying in blogs that balance allows you to play solo. In GW -1, I could safely play solo, walking with a group of mercenaries and heroes. In GW-2, I’m the one to fight against eight! And they thought it was OK?
Player characters, where the dynamic, but in other places maps desert.
3) To automatically search for the order, as in the old game.
4) Please make a round compass, as in the old game. We’ll see where his own, and where the enemy is. And you can by drawing on it, lines and circles, give commands and tips to members of the detachment.
(edited by Lara Kroft Rus.3954)
You have to ask, joint missions, as it was in the old game.
Personal history, and called on the story that it is not repeated.
It’s like in real life, you cann’t repeat already-designed.
I agree with your point, not with your englihs
Sorry, I’m writing a Google search translator.
I’m pretty sure that instead of bots in the block will get exactly the players that are playing fair, just do not have time in the game to respond to these windows. And who is like me, just do not know the language, can not translate the question.
FFor me, it was very nice to find a hotel in the city, of which no one has figured it out. And what a pleasure to see my ranger sleeps on the bed, after all the fighting and adventure.
And I will be very scary evil, if someone takes! So give me your own home!
(edited by Lara Kroft Rus.3954)
In PVE, in jumping puzzles, played only on the first two cards, then it is just sick of it! Spoiled nerves and poor sleep – that’s the reward for these puzzles! Better if it is a dynamic and Hearts were given, where the real game!
Please make a round compass, as in the old game. We’ll see where his own, and where the enemy is. And you can by drawing on it, lines and circles, give commands and tips to members of the detachment.
(edited by Lara Kroft Rus.3954)
Why the author decided that the players will respond to these questions? I’m confident that they will not spend time on it. These windows will only hinder players themselves

And is the old game that it was not right, what someone managed differently? There have been three management options:
1) buttons
2) Mouse
3) button with the mouse.
Every game, as it is convenient and each had their own style. And it’s not who was not hurt.
It is now that all herded into one frame, then some players (that used to play on the buttons) have an advantage over other players, by the others, the buttons play worse.
.
Not all have so much time to devote to the game, and I think these people should have the opportunity to better understand, as has been translated into Spanish, French and German, why not Italian?
I do not think that there are few Italians who play so why not do it?
In Russian
Is english that hard to learn? English is the most commonly used language for a reason: it’s easy to learn (plus is a beautiful language). I know quite a lot of ppl who learnt english by playing online games. You guys can do the same.
A Russian and Italian is a hundred times more beautiful!!
Learn Russian and you’re not going to praise so English!

No way! Learn to play!
Know how to play – to teach us do not!
I hasten to please all of you, chatting Cyrillic !
Russian words in Latin letters in the global chat that’s for sure spam. For English speaking of course. If a in global Cyrillic chat. Do not read if you do not know the Cyrillic alphabet.
means the information is not for you
Ignore. Simple things guys!“don’t read if the information is not for you”….that’s such a weak argument…
If your information is not intended for the people on the map…why write in the map-chat? put your message in a whisper or discuss it in guild-chat.
When you type in map-chat you address everyone on the map and should therefore use a language everyone understands, which happens to be english.
to the OP: NO, I’m against introducing the cyrillic alphabet on international servers because it would further encourage language-barriers.
I’m sorry if anyone hurt, the phrase “in the Cyrillic alphabet, writing is not for you,” the authors had in mind that because of problems with a second language, it is easier to communicate in Russian.
Thanks Cyrillic alphabet, it is easier to find a knowledgeable Russian, we do not have the Latin alphabet- we Cyrillic

Are not you afraid that it would be the opposite?
You can press run, only four sides, and I’m in GW-1 mouse – even zigzags. You even guess in what direction escape.
But seriously, you have the European Union, language teaching is that students can speak freely on inostannyh languages. And we have 5% of the players can boast of, the other, or low or no knowledge of a second language.
I’m sorry if anyone hurt, the phrase “in the Cyrillic alphabet, writing is not for you,” the authors had in mind that because of problems with a second language, it is easier to communicate in Russian.
Thanks Cyrillic alphabet, it is easier to find a knowledgeable Russian, we do not have the Latin alphabet- we Cyrillic.
Since the game is not the Cyrillic alphabet, the players write the Latin alphabet. Believe me, we distinguish between the Russian words written by the manner of the English, not as easy as you. This poses challenges to all who played in GW!
(edited by Lara Kroft Rus.3954)
Need not only Cyrillic, but Google translator chat, so that everyone could read and write in their native language!
Because Google Translator is famed for it’s ability to accurately translate stuff into coherent sentences.
No, wait…
Please make Cyrillic in this forum, I have to Oglaf, write in Russian))) He knows quality translator, not what I do.
I’m not Italian, I’m Russian. But I have the same problem in the game that you have. I do not know how Google translates in Italian, but it translates into Russian so that that they wanted jobs in a heart, it is often just not possible.
In Russia, the problem with a second language is much sharper than you have in Italy. If the game is not translated into Russian, it did not sell – not buy.
Sorry for the English, I write a program interpreter. How could you know you are about worlds that on other servers. they you can get. making the settings before you log in your character.
In the old game, free to change worlds, but why it is not done now, and I do not understand.
