As of right now I’m at a 1.5. As I am NOT level 80 so it doesn’t affect me. I could see how people would be at a 3 though.

No the frustrating part is that TRIAL Accounts, who are most definitely NOT 80, somehow got precursors. Really ANet!?

soo its lazy to play with a low lv??, even if you already have a character lv 80, (some people have 2 or more).

You’re reading words that aren’t there. I never said lazy, I said they hadn’t done it. If you chose to do it with a low level instead of a 80, well, that’s your choice. You made your bed, now sleep in it. Every other event in the world (dragons come immediately to mind) give scaled loot, why would you expect this one not to?

Wombat, read the forums. There are several examples of Trial accounts getting precursors.

I know a lot of people are feeling indignant at the moment. There are a lot of people who slogged through the event in its entirety, only to watch other people on their server get the precursor that they wanted.

The thing is, Anet didn’t tie any of us down in a chair and force us to play through the whole event. Each one of us who did the thing chose, out of our own free will, to finish the event chain and go through the thing. We can blame everything from advertisements of the Lost Shore events to bad luck to whatever, but in the end, we were the one who did the whole thing through. If nothing else, the process – if you think about it – was fairly remarkable. It did tell a fairly reasonable story, after all.

Yes. But there are just as many people who logged on RIGHT as the event ended. Or people who couldn’t make the event at all. Or people whose overflows got glitched and got nothing at all. What about them?

Yes, but to everyone else, they’re all the “other guys.” That is just how RNG works, and if nothing else, it’s a testament to the power of social psychology. Furthermore, we had no way of knowing what was going to be in those chests. They could’ve been all greens and blues and whites for all we knew. Shouldn’t we be at least a little grateful that we got stuff out of it at all?

I think it’s very easy for us to be pointing fingers. But we can just as easily take a step back, take a deep breath, and go outside or do something else. The event’s done. It wasn’t perfect, but you did it. What has happened happened. Are you seriously going to let someone else’s good fortunes be a roadblock for your own happiness?

Think about what motivates you to play, or what motivates you to participate. I think we have a tendency to awfulize too much.

They didn’t force us to play, you are correct. But what they DID do was give some people precursors and not others. That is inexcusable. Those are worth SO MUCH money. What makes the next person to me any more rightful to have it than me? I know it’s a random chance and such, but really? There shouldn’t be precursors in there if they’re not giving them to everybody. My loot was complete garbage, and some people got upwards of 300 gold for doing the exact same thing as me.

Who else wants a little squad of Karka Hatchlings or a Young Karka helping their Ranger out in combat? Hm? I know there are minis but that’s not the same… Pet Karka for Rangers would be sweet! They showed they can add new pets, because they added a new Drake yesterday, however they should also put some Karka in there too. We can tame all sorts of vicious monsters, why shouldn’t we be able to tame a Karka?

I TOTALLY agree! I am SO disappointed! I was playing on my 21 Engineer (I don’t have much time to play) and I got worthless level 39 items that I couldn’t even equip because there was a Greatsword and Light Armor boots! So now not only can I not use them, I can’t trade them for anything I CAN use. Severely disappointing…

I love the stats on the Ancient Karka Shell. HOWEVER, it annoys me slightly because it doesn’t have an appearance. I think it should be a “Back” item, and be a physical shell that you put on your back and wear proudly, as a way to say: “Yeah. I was there. I helped take down the Ancient Karka. Deal with it”. I love the item, but I am sort of disappointed that it has no appearance.

I completely agree. I assume they are working on something to make Ranger worthwhile for people except Bots, however I think they should at least tell us that they are.

The Ranger is completely ruined. I used to be great with nearly every weapon combo. Sword/Dagger, Axe/Torch, Greatsword, Longbow, Shortbow, etc. Now I literally cannot do anything with it. If you don’t think the Ranger is ruined, than go play a little game I like to call “Find an equal amount of complaint threads as there are in the Ranger forum on any Profession forum except Ranger”

This rampant inflation can only be solved by us. Less people want the Gems, so the price will continue to increase. Simple Economics. Now, us as players can reverse this. What we have to do is start using ALL of our Coin to buy Gems. Because Demand increases the price will steadily drop. And the supply of Gems will significantly increase in addition. If we want these Gem prices to go down, them buy Gems. It’s the only way.

I was making my Asura Warrior, and I really like the Cap Helm, however, the ears don’t show, is there any way to make the ears show through?

I’m considering quitting the game altogether, whatever respect I had for ANet was lost due to this whole fiasco. Once I get my Engie and my Guardian (which I switched to because the Ranger has been nerfed to hell and back) to 30, I will leave. Only reason on sticking around is so it doesn’t feel like my $60 was Tokyo wasted.

WTF are you talking about? Ranger sucks? I’ve played Thief first, then Mesmer , but I’ve rolled a Ranger 3 days ago, and that’s what I’ve been looking for. I love this insane ammount of damage from my crit/bleed build at PvP, and I love to take 5+ mobs at the same time at PvE (I wasn’t able to do it with my mesm or thief) so don’t tell me how bad Ranger is. And yes, i use SB most of the time with Axe/WH.

My advice – ranger is not for all of you. If you don’t like it of don’t know how to use it, roll another class Peace

I don’t think you understand. All of us are people who have PREVIOUSLY played Ranger and LOVED IT. It’s not that it’s “not for all of us” it’s more that “ANet screwed us all over”

^ @targren and others: Pets aren’t that useless. You need to choose good pets. My devourers do great for dungeons with their ranged and condition danage an evasion burrows. Wolves do great on the last game zones and in many situations including champs. Their knock downs and cripples are great and they are fast and have long range lunges.

I don’t know why people are so negative and hateful. With an eye on the pet swap and calling in and out of battle my pets don’t die if I don’t want them to and helps alot.

Pvp is a bit challenging tho. Devourer in pvp I’d say, they’ll have two of us shooting at them with condition damage at least.

Learn to pick and use ur pets well. All I can say is if you have that much trouble and complaints then u simply don’t fit the gw2 ranger style game play. It takes a lot of thinking control and strategy to be effective. Don’t expect ur pet to be invincible. If you were ur pets pet u wouldn’t last very long either in the frontline. Warriors go down in dungeons in one hit too. Everyone does. Stop expecting the impossible

That said, if you can be constructive of course there are things on the pet system that can be improved. But with th cards were dealt we can still be extremely effective. I guess players just don’t put the effort to think and work with the class.

You don’t know why we’re hateful? Go to any other Profession subforum and find this many complaint topics. Literally every topic in Ranger is complaining, and for good reason. Our class is broken. Deal with it. Pets suck. Our damage sucks. Everything that we can do, another class can do better.

Well that’s all fine and dandy then, huh? Our pets CANNOT attack anything that isn’t perfectly still. I don’t want to use a ranged pet. Every pet should be viable. And it doesn’t help that they have practically no health. Listen, I don’t know how long you’d been around here, but there once was a time when Ranger’s didn’t suck. I used to think like OP, but with each consecutive nerf I took it, and now I’m done. No more Ranger for me. I would be fine with lower damage skills because our pets do damage, but unfortunately our pets, and pretty much everything about Raner, is utterly and horrendously broken.

I agree with you. While I respect ANet as a company and I feel they makena lot of positive changes, these nerfs are just outrageous, and they haven’t even said what they intend to do! I might just stop playing GW2 altogether until ANet realizes that in order to keep customers happy, they should address the issues that the customers are concerned about.

Well, throughout the course of the Nerfings I got increasingly dissatisfied with my Ranger. After the last patch, I was done. So I made a Guardian, because I liked the concept and it really appeals to me, it’s a mix of a support, damage, and it is very survivable. I also made an Engineer, which was the class I originally planned to play pre-BWE3. I enjoy both very much, but I do hope that ANet comes to their senses and un-nerfs the Ranger.

The auto-attack has to be manually aimed. It doesn’t follow the target. Also, I can’t hit anything that is moving or while I’m moving. It says “miss” about half the time even if we’re both stationary. Is the Flamethrower supposed to be this bad or are these glitches?
I really want to like the Flamethrower, but I realized like none of my attacks were hitting and if I or my foe took a step it missed as well.

I suggest you try my build. I don’t mean to be kitteny but that’s pretty much what I built mine for. The Pistol/Shield is great for survivability, because the Shield offers really great Defensive abilities, and the Pistol has good condition damage. The Turret is good for all-round capabilities. For added survivability the Rocket Boots are a good escape mechanism. If it comes down to the worst, then go to the Flamethrower, and turn into a Glass Cannon. It makes you squishy without the Shield, but you deal quite the damage. Because of this I only use this for last-resort situations, or when attacking an undefended Gate in PvP, where nothing but pure damage is necessary.

The problem is, I think ANet thinks it’s FIXING stuff. But if you’ve upset every Ranger-player out there, then it should be pretty apparent that you’re not ANet. Tales of Tyria brought this up last week. ANet addresses the bugs that get the most attention first, and because Ranger is a rather small population, and gets smaller with every subsequent update, they don’t pay as much attention too it.

I swapped to a Guardian/Engineer, I play both. I used to love Ranger, but literally everything about it is so lackluster now. The pets are broken. All the weapons suck, the Utility skills that are supposed to work in conjunction with our weapons and pets are now useless because our weapons and pets suck. I want to play Ranger, but I want to enjoy the game as well. I don’t want to force myself to play Ranger, and lose all sense of fun that I once has with the class. After playing a Ranger to 21 and thinking that I did normal damage, it astonishes me how fast other classes can take mobs down.

You don’t necessarily need to be entirely Toughness to not be Glass Cannon. I’ve found that a Pistol/Shield gives you excellent survivability.

The Pets are actually very useful and make up for the damage that the Ranger lacks. Unfortunately the AI sucks and they’re broken as hell, so the Ranger is essentially useless right now.

I named my Murellow Achilles. It’s actually very fitting.

I totally agree with OP, I played Ranger all throughout the BWE’s and Stress Tests, and I really liked it. I tried all of the weapons and liked all of them. My affinity for the Ranger diminished as time passed. After Headstart, I was grounded for like a month, but once I got my Laptop back I took my Ranger up to 21, but then ditched it in favor of a Guardian and an Engineer. The Pet is great while it’s effective, however that rarely happens. They do significant damage, but are lacking in health and utility. As stated above, they refuse to attack anything that isn’t a Mob. Oh, you wanted a large part of your damage to attack that gate? kitten shame. The pets need a buff. The weapons all have very good skills, but they just don’t do any damage. If there was a moderate damage increase across the board of Ranger weapons, it would be great. Of course if the Pets were fixed then the damage increase would be a little bit less. I admire the Ranger a lot, and I really want to like to play it, but with the Ranger in its current state, it’s kind of hard.

By “Skin” do you guys just mean an item that you are going to use a Transmutation Stone on? Or is it just that, a skin?

While going through the Traits for my PvP build, I noticed one of them was a “drink Elixr B while at 75% health” and I have two questions. Am I required to have Elixr B equipped as a Utility Skill for this to do anything? And if yes, does it activate the cooldown for Elixr B?
