They’re alright. Realistically, they provide insane amounts of regen/heal compared to other classes when in D/D with water dodge heal, but their damage is summed up to “meh”.
In staff, the combo fields are nice as well, but you still feel less useful than other classes.
My guard gives better buffs, and my war does tons more damage. Ele is certainly the jack of all trades currently.
Updated Elementalist, now only missing sclerite weapons. If anyone has a good idea for legs that cover but still show the boots I’m definitely looking for ideas. The T3 do that but I dont think match the outfit as much. I just wish I could change the turquoise colored gem in the stately legs
(edited by Legend.6941)
Keep in mind though, places like Arah definitely require more Toughness / Vitality depending on the situation. Although your dps may be a bit lower, exchanging some damage for survival can do the group a huge favor in the long run.
After looking at all the mixed armor combinations, the Stately/Shadow Light Armor Leggings for male has only 3 dye choices. The middle turquoise colored gem stays that color no matter what. If it isn’t too difficult, I’m definitely requesting to have a fourth dye slot option so that we can dye that gem a different color. It’d mean so much to my ele!
Thanks!
Message me in game and I’ll show you what I use currently that I’m working on. I’m sure there’s 10x better builds but this one does decent.
Thief does have nice burst at 80. I’ve just invested so much time on my ele I want it to be competitive.
Hey guys, I’ve been on vacation so I haven’t been able to experience the patch changes yet for my ele. Although a bit irked with the rtl changes, I was wondering:
For the usual 0/10/0/30/30 or the 0/0/20/20/30, has anyone successfully swapped mist form with armor earth and had a decent time? Or was there more to the nerf that I’m missing? I mean, it sucks and all but I figured it was still moldable albeit a bit more skill involved. It’s theorycraft at the moment so i was just curious
After about 8 hours of wv3, I’m coming down to agree that classes are more balanced than before. Not perfect, but a start. Maybe it’s just the op arrow carts bombarding my mind, who knows lol.
No buff to staff, crappy signet buffs, awesome.
When lions arch is a ghost town, and no one uses gw2lfg, then ill consider it dead. For now I’m going to enjoy the game rather than divulge in the philosophical concept of “is gw2 to be[dying]? Or not to be [dying]? That is the question.”
Instead of stating its dying, what do you suggest we or anet could do to fix it?
I have to get to the dragon wb spawns early now, otherwise I’m put in the dreaded.. Overflow.. If that doesn’t say the world is dying, I don’t know what does
I’m with you benj, my guard and war are flat out beast, but I have hope for ele.
Well guys, it’s the night before the dreaded/praised patch. Good luck ele’s!
What I’m hoping for: staff becomes more enjoyable with either some sort of crit increase or quickness in traits
We have a smaller guild on anvil rock, mostly pve related, and its slowly growing.
As a game ages, players tend to drift onto new games, become bored, etc. everything has a lifespan, but new content, expansions and other goodies can revamp a game. Personally I still play because I love the graphics and leveling professions, but everyone enjoys a game differently.
Now that much of the ’it’s new and shiny’ has drifted on, we’ll see more specific types of player bases emerge (pvp/pve dungeoners/levelers/etc). I’m not sure it’s dying so much as evolving.
There’s a pre-endgame economy?
True, and we agree. However, the vast majority of people arguing for nerfs of Eles ignore the above simple facts. Their contention, especially in PvP, is that Eles built for bunker
My problem with all the cries for OP Ele nerfing is that the majority argue the idea that full bunker eles are somehow also doing zerker damage. What it really boils down to is these children got beat by a bunker D/D Ele because they’re terrible players, and rather than improve, they’d rather ANet bring the Ele’s abilities so low that even in the hands of a player like daphoenix, the Ele can’t help but be a free kill.
This.
Run in circles casting fireball. Worked like a charm lol.
Always do your research to impress the girl, mate. Winging it nets her a headache and you empty handed.
Just curious, but what about a trait option for: 20% crit chance increase when using staff?
Unless you keep spells/skills different in pve vs pvp settings, balancing one will unbalance the other.
I personally enjoy underwater combat especially hotw
Gandalf. Without the beard anyways.
You need to bind your utilities/heal/elites for fastener casting for start. Pve or pvp?
You should be fine, doesn’t break any terms in CoC. Staff was always my favorite wep choice on my elementalist (my guard situationally uses staff as well) so we’ll see with patch release
Yep, I received an infraction for it. Rightly so, I should’ve been more clever and replaced ‘petition’ with ‘strongly suggest’. Our words can and will be used against us.
Anywho, lets change the subject to keep from deletion as well as getting the OP into pointless trouble:
My ele was awesome for pve in gw1 (triple meteor shower Nuke). Hopefully staff gets something this patch. My suggestion: quickness
Since when do they give a kitten? That’s right. They don’t.
You right, I know, but hey they surf the forums and our voices can still possibly be heard. Worth a try
It’s good mate. They even archived the petitions we had. Lol………proves they don’t want to listen to what the people want.
Yep, I received an infraction notice from anet as well on my account, so much for freedom of speech. We do/say these things because we care and want to enjoy this game. I never once gave the umadbroragequitwhinny speech, just that updates should not be implemented as they are.
To change the subject, I do hope they have something in store for the ele class that makes them enjoyable to play. Perhaps even a way to implement quickness for staff casting
Ya, we’ll have to watch what the changes do to the game. I think that bunkers will still be viable, but I think you’ll see some new counters to them. It’ll be interesting to see what the meta does.
J
You think they will be? I don’t.
Well, we know what class anet plays when they’re clocked out.
How ironic would it be to release a dagger skin and nerf ele d/d at same time.
What’s the point of having a light armored nuke class if you’re forced into a tanky %*#@$ slapper.
Oh wait, there isn’t.
its only 40 if you miss with it. travelling isn’t pve.
No, but to get out of a massive aoe damage attack @20 second cd is much more usable than having a 40 second cd because you “missed”.
And you also get zapped on the 40 second cd if for any reason you use rtl and are stunlocked and aren’t hitting anyone. That = fail.
I’m very disappointed. And I’m saying it as a person who plays on multiple toons, and ele as my secondary character (guard and war comes first).
Anet is hitting ele too hard with both range and timer for RTL. I can understand the range, but definitely not the timer. They’re granting ele with much less mobility now than almost all other classes. Last I checked they’re a light armor class that needs to be able to get out of bad situations because of their survivability to keep a balance. My war is going to faceroll ele’s now and then people are going to complain about zerkers being even more “OP”. It’s not OP. It’s classes being way off balanced. Keep nerfing and people will stop enjoying. Guild wars was originally all about different builds @endgame. Now it’s definitely not the case anymore.
Buff to balance.
did you hear? patch is buffing zerkers even more.
I’d be okay if they didn’t raise the timer to 40 seconds on ride the lightning =/

You’ve got to be joking. This is such a hard nerf for an already shallow choice of specs for one class. You want to fix ele? Leave it and buff others to compete.
Upcoming patch is going to kill my d/d fun in pve. Awesomesauce.
Thanks for the heads up, definitely clears up a few things.
- is great for the protection/buff when you know something big is coming
- is great knockback/interrupt. I throw in sigil of hydromancy as a failsafe for anything that gets through. When you use it not as something to damage but as a situational skill for:
1)Knocking back enemies when you need some breathing room
2)Interrupting major casts that could damage yourself and/or group
3)Separating targets that could gain buffs within a range (i.e. the twins in AC story that gain a buff being within a proximity of eachother, etc)
4)It also acts as a shield to projectiles. If you have a major projectile coming your way that could be the difference between staying up or downing on hit, pop it for your O4 $4!7 move.
The issue is just learning a few new mechanics since we were all used to the old methods. Once you get them down and have a group that works together, the rest is cake.
Hey guys, I’ve been looking into the Fractal Rewards and to be honest I’ve been a bit hazy on understanding the reward system.
Currently my toon is:
Fractal level 6
Personal Reward 4
I’m aware of the daily reward chests on the even level fractal levels, as well as the tiers of 0-9, 10-19, etc being available once daily.. but:
Let’s say I choose to do the fractal level 2 daily. Do I still get fractal relics from the daily chest/bosses as well as karma? Or just karma and no relics for completion of the bosses/chests/bonus?
Would making a jump in fractal level, as opposed to personal reward level, be a bad thing? I could probably join a group @ lv 10 and do that, but would the gap in personal reward be a bad thing? Or should I just level slowly by a per level fractal basis?
Essentially, I’m just trying to find the best option to farming relics in general. I have multiple 80 characters to do whatever method would work best.
Can there be a max 45 fps option? 30 for things like body movement or spell casting are noticeable to the eye, whereas loading entire areas at 60 is still slower than I’d prefer.
Yes it is a preference request, but I feel having a max 45 fps option would help with quite a few graphics cards that would fit quite well.
Just a hopeful thought
Um. Hit level 80 and go get your exotics with karma/tokens/gold. Congatz, max gear. Now, decide on your rune set for customization. Then, sigils for your weps. Sigils can create some intense combos that really help against certain situations. I haven’t run one dungeon where gear was the problem. It was the player’s skill that led to wipes.
Oh boy… where to begin..
What bosses were a challenge in gw1? When were the fights not moreso tap these buttons to kill x target? Even on my ele I was able to solo most bosses and farm destroyer cores like it was a piece of cake. You could take henchies that did most of the work for you and chats became “what, you can’t solo it with henchies? I’m an elitest jerk and I say you suck at gw.”
GW1 had the capture skills concept, as well as multiple expansions that built upon more spells/skills to each class. We haven’t even had a first expansion yet. We can compare vanilla gw to vanilla gw2 just before the first expansion is released to give a full comparison?
There was no concept of dodging in gw1, and I don’t remember seeing any jump puzzles because, well, you couldn’t jump. The amount of weapons you were stuck with per class choice were horrid. Not even a two handed sword in game. (Although I miss the zodiac sword skin like crazy, I still would play everyday and look at it wishing it would magically become a 2 hander). The story wasn’t challenging as well, but I will say the story was quite fun.
GW2 is an entirely different game based upon a story arc that is a world many years after gw1.
guardian renewed focus is incredibly important when using an AH gs build. It resets your virtues and is quite helpful as an 0hS41T button. I usually pop it after the intial wave of virtues to renew their passives and help keep the group up to max health for most of the fight.
While working on alts, I try to speed through the story quests (its great the first couple times to watch lol) and when you do the story missions sometimes WP’s will pop up on the map/minimap for the story zone. Out of habit, I’ll click on this to fast travel closer to the current quest objective (since everyone is used to doing this in dungeons).
Unfortunately, it pulls you out of the story mission entirely, and you have to repeat the entire thing. My suggestion is to either remove those WP’s in the story zone or to make them usable as they are in dungeons.
In a group you can easily hit 30k with 100b if traited/boosted from food. The only problem is, surviving after you get all of their aggro.
A ton of people are having this issue. Multiple posts have been already stated and the forum mods have said that they’re looking into it. Personally I find it a pretty extreme bug that needs to be countered as it’s also extending into other dungeons and world bosses. Its making endgame simply, well, not fun.
