Notice what she said in the lower image, “This better mean I’m innocent because this isn’t my color at all”.
She was just speaking about her chameleon color changes.

I got 75 Rich chests off the TP (Appreciate that this is roughly $75 USD)
Results:
1 Ticket
2 Pets
931 candy
56 Fireworks
Misc stat food (total value <1g on the TP)In case anyone needed some perspective.
You can’t buy “rich” coffers on the TP. Only the regular ones.
We’ve already established the regular coffer rate as being abysmal.

RNG? You mean Random Number generator? Sorry not up on the terminology. I am so tired of some programmers saying they have a fool proof random number routine. Random is a concept, once you write some code to emulate IT IS NOT RANDOM! All the code can do is occasionally produce a different result. Experts have tried to hammer this home for a very long time and gaming companies seem to think they know better, than the people that created the programming languages.
This, a thousand times this!
RNG in games is a myth. An algorithm programmed to emulate randomness. It is not true randomness.
Games should never rely on faulty programmed “Random” algorithms when it comes to real life money. This is not a gambling game. They don’t have a license to gamble electronically so they shouldn’t be doing online Lotto’s or Raffles like this.
Make the darned tickets buyable via gems, via candy, etc. Otherwise you’re just victimizing people who are obsessed with gambling or collecting.
~Lia
I refuse to play a Necro because my wife would disown me if I did.
She really hates necros and can’t stand looking at their minions.
~Lia
Your example falls kinda flat though. I can see the point you’re trying to make, but that would be like telling players who want to get a Jade Greatsword that they should just get a Priory Greatsword instead. “Hey, they’re both swords, they’re both green, and they both have crystals! They’re practically the same!”
Obviously, they’re not. They have vastly different aesthetics which may or may not suit what a player is trying to go for on their character.
We are agreed on the distasteful RNG approach for the weapon tickets, at least.
I can see how you think my post falls flat, however I was speaking specifically about the Dragon Bash. Wings have multiple ways to get them. Weapons skins do not. This I think is the biggest issue.
Make the tickets drop like the wings. Make the tickets purchase-able via candy. Make the tickets purchase-able via the gemstore directly.
Problem solved (sorta)
~Lia
Yes, but they are still wing skins
What I am trying to imply is that there are multiple ways to get things, even if they are not exactly the item you wish. Many people say the Candy wings look inferior to the Achievement wings. The point is, they are wings.
You sound like you are taking my post as being anti-player. Far from it. I am poking fun at both sides of the argument by showing how both sides are wrong.
I still think Anet is acting horribly like a money-grubbing company taking advantage of those who desire the skins they have advertised. While the wings have alternative ways of obtaining them, the weapon skins are still a lotto.
~Lia
No, Zenith, I suffer from a problem where I try and be as honest as possible.
~Lia
I can pretty much sum up the entire argument in the following post.
Player’s PoV:
Weapon skins are too hard to get!Anet’s PoV:
You can just loot the coffers or buy them from the TP.Player’s PoV:
It takes 100k candy to get the Holographic Wings!Anet’s PoV:
You can get a wing skin from Achievements, a random drop, or can buy candy from the TP, loot them from chests, or from Holographic mobs.Player’s PoV:
Anet is a bunch of money grubbing RNG huggers!Anet’s PoV:
We offer more than enough ways to get things in game. Plus you never have to spend any money, gems can be purchased via gold.
How did I do?
~Lia
God, dude/dudiette – it is just PART of available “drops” form chest, i know 90 % of ppl buying it for ticket, but still.. You can’t expect partial, RARE item to drop on every occasion… you shouldn’t feel cheated, they didn’t said "100 % dropchance lololo buy our boxes you’ll get ticket everytime " Man the kitten up and deal with fact it’s random. And i thought WoW got many whiners…
The Coffers that you buy for gems have been described as having a much higher drop rate than ones you get in game. Not much of a stretch to assume you’d get one ticket out of a pack of 25 boxes from the gemstore.
Sadly, this is not true.
~Lia
I said it during F&F and I will say it again-
The whole gemstore RNG system for getting skins is a poor way to do it. There are always people who are obsessed with getting everything and for those people this game is like a horrible gambling addiction.
There are people who honestly cannot stop spending their money in order to get what they want. Anet is basically “banking” (lol) on those people and in my humble opinion, taking advantage of them. It is a bad business practice, plain and simple.
Anyone else looking forward to Wildstar (and hoping they don’t do this stupid RNG gemstore shtick)?
~Lia
Looks like you are outnumbered.
When the F&F thing was going there was a mountain of posts complaining about a group instance at the end. They give us a pure solo instance (to satisfy the loners) and so few people have complained.
Methinks more people are outraged by group missions than solo. :/

Something I posted in another thread that seems to be valid here:
I got 2 Tickets out of $70 worth of keys.
The rest of the stuff I got were pretty much junk taking up my bank space. Not a single useful item or backpack skin.
If I spend real life money, I shouldn’t be playing the RNG with such horrible odds. It is akin to gambling. If you want to use the RNG to help get you guys money, then you should at least help the players a bit more by giving us “loaded keys”. Keys “enchanted” to give us a better chance at getting an item we want.
Enchanted Backpack key (Limits RNG to Backpack items)
Enchanted Kit key (Limits RNG to account bound things like kits or perm bank/merch items)
Enchanted Event key (Limits RNG to limited time items)
Things like that would still have an element of randomness, but still allow us to filter through the piles of junk that we don’t want for a chance at an item we do want. Heck, make those keys cost a bit more. That way I could have spent more gems on other things like Minis or limited skins. It would at least help go a long way to boost confidence in a system that is quickly showing its “money grubbing” roots.
I don’t mind supporting GW2. I just don’t want to feel like I’m getting robbed by a “one armed bandit” every time I do.

Yes, please place this in suggestions.
However I’m going to be a pessimist and state that it most likely won’t even be worked on because it would take a great deal of development time and at this point Anet is working with a skeleton crew and are focusing on a “set plan” they have in mind.
Here’s to hoping something like this might be implemented!
~Lia
My biggest gripe is that Orr is deserted and abandoned now on my server, Tarnished Coast. Events fail because there are a tiny handful of people there. Everything is contested. Events are left abandoned.
It is almost impossible to finish the zone on a new character right now, solo. If I get ganged by mobs and die, I have to start over at the beginning of the zone because there are no uncontested waypoints in the other half of the zone.
I think they need to work a bit on the scaling mechanic in Orr. They worked on scaling for huge groups, now they need to be able to scale Orr down to the handful of players we have there now. I don’t want the Orr Group Events to be soloable, but they should be able to be completed with a group of 5-10 players. (even if it would take longer)
~Lia
I’ve slid down a hill, taking falling damage in slight increments the entire way down, then get to the bottom and I end up sliding a few feet (I still have a quarter HP bar left at this point) and poof, Dead.
Something is definitely buggy with falling damage.
~Lia
I plan on trying the F&F end dungeon with my family (4 of us) and if we can’t do it we will ask someone in-guild. This is an MMO. I know most content can be soloed, but I don’t see any of you complaining that you can’t Solo Teq, Claw, or Shatterer! If you don’t want to PUG, then ask your guild. If you don’t have a guild then find one and make a few friends. The heart of an MMO is cooperation. Please remember that.
~Lia
I was so proud that my 14 year old son beat RCR in Rytlock Mode today. My husband and I couldn’t even do regular mode… Makes you feel real old. XD
~Lia
People need to remember that it is one chest per character per day. People with eleventybillion 80s can easily cycle through their roster and pretty much camp every event every time. I have three eighties and can pretty much do the same thing, if I wanted to.
On TC we already had pretty bad lag on dragon events. Now it is unbearable with guesting. I don’t have a problem with guests, I have a problem with people being able to overload servers that were already overfull to begin with.
Keep Guesting but change it twofold- No guesting on High pop or above servers unless they have someone on their friends list on that server.
~Lia
It’s far too easy to get one-shot from full health from the Krait in that event now. I think they need to tone down the “special skills” the Krait were given because as it stands, they are not “entertaining” to fight in the least bit. They are annoying.
~Lia
5 per banner you place. If you have the banner regen trait, you can get 20 people covered by setting banners around the area.
~Lia
If I recall, the best stat distribution to be even is-
Def- legs, feet, head, Back, 1 Ring,1 Earring (Knights)
Off- Chest, shoulder, hands, Neck, 1 Ring,1 Earring (Berserker)
Keeping a backup set in full Zerker is also a good idea.
~Lia
Simple solution is to not allow guesting on any server of High pop or above.
~Lia
As a Norn Ranger, I looked forward to my “Become the Leopard” skill. After I used it I was saddened by the actual effect. I lose my pet, my skills, and they are replaced with sadly under-powered and lackluster abilities.
I will have to place the “Become the Leopard” skill as simply a cosmetic skill used when roleplaying.
~Lia
I have three level 80s. Mesmer (1st 80), Warrior (2nd 80), and Ranger (3rd 80).
I always act the same no matter what class I play. Even though Mesmer is my favorite, I’m not snarky or arrogant. :P
Generalizations are usually very general.
~Lia
Peetee, now you know what Storm Bluff Isle had to deal with when we were in Tier 1. Now that I have moved to Tarnished Coast, I find it hilarious that we are currently beating my old server.
WvWvW is all about how much dedication and funds you want to put into it. Repair costs, upgrades, and siege weapons are all heavy investments. To top it all off, having a guild that heavily invests in WvW can make a big difference as well. Which makes sense because the game is called “Guild Wars 2” after all.
(Yes I know that is not the real reason why it is called GW2…)
On topic, where the heck is that document you read, Oaken? Did you save a copy of it?
~Lia
Considering you take a TP fee hit for each item you sell.
The TP charge price is 15% of the total sale rather than a flat fee per item. I can sell 3 iron ore for 30c total minus 15% or I can sell 1 iron ingot for 27c minus 15%. This charge amounts to 1 copper per sale regardless of whether I sell ore or an ingot. Iron is a bad example, though, because the profit margins here are so low anyway. Also, once many people are making ingots to sell because they crafted them for their dailies, the price of ingots will plummet and the price of ore will rise.
I’m not going to nitpick (too badly…), but the prices of ore/ingots always fluctuate. As the example I stated, ores were 8c each as of a few moments ago. It takes 3 to make one ingot. 8*3 is 24c, not 30c.
The rewards for the dalies (laurels) are simply more valuable than most realize. The system is new. Instead of complaining about it, give it some time.
Personally I’m going to save up for the cat tonic.
~Lia
Celtic Lady-
Odd. I was under the impression that selling 3 iron ore at 8c a piece was less profitable than selling one ingot at 24c. Considering you take a TP fee hit for each item you sell.
Silly me.
~Lia
Okay. I slogged through this entire thread and the only thing that comes to mind is that someone needs to call the Waaaaambulance.
A lot of the complaints here are simply silly. My wife, who has only done ONE daily previously just completed the daily for today. The only thing she had a problem with was the dodge-rolling part. After some coaxing and some help she did it.
Kill Variety- Easy. Kill everything in sight, including the ambient critters.
Healer- Done easy. We did it in Diessa Plateau. Tons of NPCs dead everywhere. O.o
Dodger- Wife had issues, but it was not that difficult. Just pat attention to mobs and dodge roll when their attack would hit. Easiest on Caster types.
Gatherer- Easy, tap every node.
Events- Another easy one.
The previous dalies- Combo field, for instance, was annoying but not impossible. Just need to pay attention to your weapon skills. Switch weapons if you have to. Also, this is GW2, a MMO, not GW1. It shouldn’t be that hard to find someone to group with.
Crafting- Oh please, if you can’t spend a few silver or bother to use a couple of mats that you have to make something then you really shouldn’t bother playing this game. Crafting in GW2 is not hard, time consuming, or expensive if you know what to do. Also- I actually make more money selling ingots than ores.
Underwater combat- OMG It is so hard to find water in this game. I can’t take a few minutes out of my busy schedule of sitting in Lions Arch to jump into the water and kill some mobs. -_-

If you look back under the Dev Tracker, they have mentioned that they were removing the keys. You can still use them for the exotics or the gathering tools.

Dragons are power, and the facets reflect the nature of the power that the human gods have harnessed. http://www.killtenrats.com/2009/09/02/guild-wars-2-interview/
The cryptic quote from the gods of tyria to the Asura is:
“An offering to those who seek”
“Beyond the mists beyond the dreams” (Sylvari or Pale Tree reference?)
“On distant shores of a land unwaking”
“Answers there lie in waiting”
The rest of the line Jeff Grubb said is:
“It is possible that the cryptic message refers to the Dragons – “a land unwaking” could be the risen kingdom of Orr, and answers to the origin of the dragons do lie there.”
So… Are these “Answers” already available to us or are they some sort of future content?
~Lia
BAH! I’m down a level and about an hour of play… Poo!
~Lia
Part of their communication problem that they have yet to address, we have to track down everything on social networking sites instead of the official site made for the game. A lot of game companies do this now and it annoys the hell out of me.
Well… Maybe they have robots who auto-tweet when the servers go down so it notifies the server monkeys that they need to feed the server hamsters?
~Lia
It is impossible for the dragons to be linked to the gods of Tyria in the way the OP suggests. The dragons are far older than the Tyrian gods. I have read that the Elder Dragons are on a cycle of consume-sleep-consume. Sort of like Draconic versions of the Reapers. They corrupt living beings to serve and consume the essences (magic) they desire in all forms. By bringing more races to Tyria and eventually their followers dabbling in magic, the gods had inadvertently brought about the next cycle of the dragons.
Interestingly enough, this website has brought about a theory that Sylvari are Tyria’s natural defense against the dragons. That would explain why they cannot be corrupted by the dragons.
On the subject of the gods of Tyria, I believe they are slowly being weakened. Zhaitan has corrupted the priests/priestesses in Orr and is using the power that flows through the shrines as a tasty snack. In the process, weakening the gods.
Perhaps the gods simply just don’t care. :P

Your husband and your wife? You player, you. (sorry couldn’t resist)
.
No, I’m not talking in third person. I have a wife (legally married) and a husband (“Common-law” marriage) :P
Back on topic-
The Princess Dolls are Mesmers, what class are the Ventari toys? I’m not looking forward to Necros…
~Lia
Ventari toys still spawn, along with skritt and now the Dolls. Each day the presents get harder and harder… I’m really not looking forward to the upcoming toys.
Hehe! I know, huh.
Related side note: Anyone else run in to the level 31 mobs in the level 13 zones? /splat But I couldn’t help laughing.
Happily, I have not experienced this bug yet. I am somewhat limited this weekend due to (hopefully) try and get my wife more hooked into the game. We have been running around as a group of three warriors and an elementalist and popping presents in the 25 and under zones. My wife just dinged 25 today.
So far my husband, wife, and son are having a blast running from present to present… As long as the boxes are not stingy and refuse to drop gifts. >.<
~Lia

~Lia
If you open the Mystery Present, you get a gift in your inventory.
If someone else opens it, you see the gifts/bags on the ground.
They last a decent amount of time. Enough for me to travel (10-15 seconds) to the location after it has been unwrapped by someone else.
I’m just irritated that the boxes themselves have so many bugs. Terrain glitches (if you can jump on to the box, most likely the gifts are under the terrain), empty boxes (it doesn’t spawn anything for anyone who did not open it), wrong mob levels, etc.
:(
~Lia
I know. My issue is that we tried all of the zones between 15 and 35. Most of the time there was no present or small bag on the ground after someone unwraps the gift.
~Lia
My family and I have been searching areas and opening the Mysterious presents that appear on the map. We decided to move away from Queensdale and discovered that in many areas we pop the presents and no lootable objects appear on the ground. Mobs will spawn, most of the time, but no gifts. It seems about 8/10 boxes (outside of Queensdale) do not spawn lootable gifts.
I know it’s not the issue where if presents spawn on a slope, the ground gift will spawn under the terrain. This one is a separate issue.
~Lia
worst update ever .. guild wars is not guild wars anymore … Did blizzard bought Anet or something?
When can we expect pandaland event please?
Oh come on! The only “One time event” things Blizzard ever did was just before an expansion and usually ran for a week. It never felt as important or as immersive as what Anet is doing in GW2.
I applaud how they are trying to make GW2 as “real” as possible. “One time events” is one way they can do it. Yes, it sucks when you can’t make it. Do I think Anet should have the start times staggered for each region? Of course. That would be the best and most fair way to do this. Staggering the events to 6pm PST for the US/AU region and 18:00 GMT for EU would allow the largest playerbase for each time participate. Doing it based on “most concurrent players” is not necessarily fair.
Thoughts?
~Lia
Actually he specifically said “Other one time events might have things in the game showing warnings or count-downs until they occur”. This means some events can and will happen and if you are not in the right place and the right time you are SOL.
~Lia
Instead of just calculating the rating from completing an event just on damage alone, I would enjoy if they would also award based on healing. If I am on my engineer I have the hardest time getting a gold medal unless I pop down all my AoE turrets and use a flamethrower. I would love if I could get credit by healing people or by helping downed players Rally.
It simply does not encourage people to help each other if all it rewards is AoE spammers.
~Lia
I used 250 Silk Bolts, 1 Gossamer Bolt, max tier Dust, and the Phelo stones. In that order and got the ingots. I don’t want to attempt that recipe again because it is quite draining on the pocket book.
At least I’m not crazy and someone else has had this happen.
~Lia
I just wish Orichalcum Ingots were worth the same as Gossamer… ((goes looking for a Gossamer node))
>.<
~Lia
So… I have regularly used the 250 Silk Scraps, 1 Gossamer Scrap, 5 Crystalline Dust, 10 Phelo Stones to make Gossamer Scraps. Today I decided to use Bolts of Silk and a Bolt of Gossamer instead… and what did I get?
I am one sad Tailor.
~Lia
I always use a Mystic Salvage Kit when I break down items. I believe the “Rare” classification is not fine crafting materials, but the next tier of materials. I have salvaged a blue jute item and ended up with a couple of wool scraps before. You never get fine crafting materials from salvage. Globs of ecto seem to have the same frequency to drop with the Mystic kit as runes do, so no, I don’t think those are the rare materials either.
Gossamer is painfully rare to find. It’s sad that the best way to get it is to use the Trading Post or to complete the Cursed Shore and beyond zones. Even then, I got 40 green onions instead of Gossamer. I was a very sad plant.
~Lia
I love using the staff, but I have to be so careful not to teleport under the ground with it. It seems to happen mostly when two terrain types meet.
~Lia
