Playing on Seafarer’s Rest
Ellen! Ellen! She’s our woman! Don’t vote Charr! Elect a Human!
The matchmaking is simply awful.
For example, I had to face a team where 3 DH and 2 reapers were stacked against us, while we had revenant and DD.
Now it should be obvious, the 3 DH on the enemy team can sustain each other very effectively, while the 2 reapers can put out more condi pressure than our team can cleanse.
And this was a problem with all my matches yesterday.
Why do you insist on stacking sustain + dps + condi on one team, while the other team (my team) gets a comp that can’t realistically put up a good fight? It’s not fair, and it simply NOT FUN, which means your matchmaking algorithm fails at what it’s supposed to do, both from an eSport and a video game perspective.
Could you please try to create mirror comps, so that the game is fair to both teams? and then maybe it’ll become fun to play, as well.
I just tried this fight a few minutes ago.
At the transition between the first and seconds phase, the vents that are supposed to get you in the air to deploy the glider didn’t work.
This happened twice.
When they finally did work, I got to the point where the rift spawned outside the platform, in mid-air, and I could no longer complete the mission.
This story instance is still bugged @ the Mordremoth fight.
I tried it 3 times today: the first two times, the vents that are supposed to help you get in the air to deploy the glider didn’t work (so I couldn’t make it to the second phase).
The third time, the vents finally worked, I got to the second phase, and after Mordremoth created the Forgal illusion the rift spawned in the empty space around the platform, and I couldn’t get to it.
Our guild did the PvP mission " PvP rank" from the “Hard weekly opportunities” category.
We had 10 PvP teams, we all joined the queue at around the same time.
We completed the mission successfully and the Guild Panel says " The guild has already received rewards".
However, only one or two guild teams received their personal rewards, and the others didn’t.
I can confirm that we were all in guild teams and joined the queue as guild teams.
EDIT: I have an update for this situation. Around an hour after running the mission, a few of us decided to start the mission again just to see what happens. We didn’t get the 16000 rank points required (obviously, since we were only one team), but we did get the personal rewards.

Hello,
I’d like to buy the expansion for a friend (I already bought it for myself).
On buy.guildwars2.com, should I enter my personal information including email address and then send the code for HoT to my friend?
Or is there an option on the store page to purchase for a friend?
Lastly, for those of you who’ve already done this, did everything work out OK? Was your friend able to redeem the code on their account without any problems?
Thanks for reading!
I found the following thread:

Hey All! I’m a server programmer here at ArenaNet and we are aware of this issue. We are currently working on a fix.
But … you should be able to get playing again by completely logging out of the game for 10 mins. This should reset things such that you can queue and play PvP again.
I can reset folks that have have this issue too and I will try to do that. I will watch the forums for more cases of this problem.
Also – remember to that you can tell Customer Support about this problem – they will contact me and I can investigate and fix.
Apologies for this problem – as I said it’s a known issue and we have a fix coming that will solve it.
Thanks!
Ray
I logged out for 15 minutes and logged back in. I was already in a queue, but I left that queue and then queued again. I’ll let you know if I get stuck again.
Same thing just happened to me. We are all (all players on both teams) stuck on the Battle of Champions Dusk map.
The game already ended a while ago.
Logging out and back in doesn’t fix it.
I have the same problem. I choose a finisher and when I switch from the Finishers tab to another it resets to the default finisher.
Please note: I hope I manage to create a funny thread to put a smile on your face, I’m not trying to insult anyone or start a flame war. So, let’s begin
No offense, but the Hero (our character, that is) has a very dangerous obsession. The evidence lies below, as fragments from his (or her) own diary:
I can’t believe I gained entrance to the Fractals of the Mist, a place filled with mysteries and powerful magic that I don’t understand… now I’m just going to collect little pieces of it and create from them a Fractal Capacitor that I’ll wear on my back!
If only there were rare, expensive, magical globs of ectoplasm in the world… oh, there are? Let me just get a stack and infuse the Fractal Capacitor with the magic contained within. I bet it’s completely safe, especially since I still don’t fully understand the lore behind the Fractals
Casually going about the Personal Story, learning that an Elder Dragon sees and knows everything his minions see and know. I bet this will never strike anyone as important information, huh?
Hey! I just got a karka shell. Since karka are minions of the Deep Sea Dragon, and I’m the Commander of the Pact that fights against the Elder Dragons, let me just wear it on my back and take it with me everywhere! How cool is that?
Wait! We’re fighting Mordremoth now? Okay, so I guess this is a seed from which one of his minions will grow. Let me just embark on a quest that will take me to remote locations all over Tyria, in an effort to make sure this little Mordrem grows big and strong. And I’ll feed him magical food made with Bloodstone dust, just to be sure.
What’s that Trahearne? We have cryptobotanists now? They dissect Mordrem to learn how they function, so that we may have a better chance at fighting them? That’s cool I guess… NO, I will NOT give them my little Mawdrey! She may be oozing magic from every pore to the point where the air itself blurs all around her, and looks like it’s trying to strangle me, buuut… I’m going to put her on my back and bring her to the super-important summit where Tyria’s leaders discuss how they should fight Mordremoth!
As you can see, the Hero simply cannot resist the temptation of taking any dangerous, powerful, magical thing he comes across and strapping it to his back, even when dragon minions are concerned!
I believe a rehab program is desperately needed.
If you play the Party Politics instance of The Dragon’s Reach Part 2, Countess Anise’s party will take place in the Wintersday-decorated Divinity’s Reach.

- Ranked Arena: Obviously not the right place.
Thank you for this.
Just had a ranked match where the guardian on my team ran a spirit weapons build, and admitted in /t he was testing it.
He spent 80% of the game in downed state and needed constant rezzes, did 0 DPS (his spirit weapons were getting stuck instead of moving and attacking enemies) and never gave stability when needed (probably didn’t have any). Ended up costing us the game.
I think the best place to test new builds is in hot join, you can find 5v5 matches there where people play to win, even if it might take a few joins / quits to find such a match.
I am getting this error every time I try logging into Guild Wars 2.
What is wrong with that?
I don’t see any rule or warning in the game that say he can not go far.
The only problem I can see is that you want him to play the game the way you want instead of how he want.
Of course, I don’t want to imply no player should ever be allowed to rush far at the start, but those who do, I would like it to be those able to win the 1v1 and force the other team to dedicate more players to their close (our far) so that mid becomes easier to control.
I’ve seen players who managed to pull this off, keeping far contested or decapped most of the game. They are a huge asset to their teams.
But what I was talking about was…
HOWEVER, i was talking about an even more specific situation, a situation where someone from your team stubbornly keeps going far, he doesn’t care whether your team already has 2 points or if his presence is needed elsewhere, he just wants to win that duel with the far holder and he loses everytime.
This is something you should never do regardless of whatever.
This is exactly the type of situation I’m talking about. If someone does this, he’s only hurting his own team.
I don’t understand some players in PvP.
Far too many times there’s a guy who insists on going far at the start of the game only to get himself killed. In the mean time, the rest of us get outnumbered at mid and start getting killed one by one.
We lose mid, what happens? Remember that guy who rushed far at the start only to die? Guess what he does… that’s right, he goes far again, and gets himself killed all over again, while the rest of us split to try and keep close and decap mid (since obviously the team that won mid can now assign 2 players to our close).
Why is it so difficult for some people to understand, that if you can’t decap far, you simply shouldn’t go far? Is it really too much to ask of these players to just help their team get mid?
The Glowing Crimson Mask is great for players who want to create a dark / evil theme for their characters.
But what about a blue version of the item? From what I’ve seen, it can’t be dyed, and the red color doesn’t fit if you want your character to have a light / angelic theme.
So is there any hope of seeing a Glowing Azure Mask in the Gem Store?
Since ANet didn’t reply to the threads in the Game Bugs forums, I’ll post here as well.
Did the meta, got the 0 AP achievement for 1st place under the WvW achievements tab.
No reward chest, no tickets
Restarting the game did not work.
Changing maps did not work.
Under the WvW achievements tab (not the tournament, but the regular WvW achievements), it shows a new achievement for 1st place and the icon for an open chest.
However, I did not receive any reward chest. Already tried relogging, going into WvW and back — nothing works.
Should I open a support ticket?
Starting today, I keep getting one of the following two errors whenever I select one of my characters and try to play:
Network error. The inability to connect to Guild Wars 2 may be caused by Internet routing issues or a server network failure.
If the problem persists, please visit our support website. (Code=5:11:3:159:101)
Or:
The game client lost its connection to the server. Please wait a few minutes before restarting the client and trying again. (Code=7:11:3:191:101)
If I restart the game about 10 times I am finally able to select one of my characters and play, however, I either get disconnected after a few minutes of play or when trying to cross / waypoint to another map.
At this point the game is practically unplayable.
EDIT: Game seems to be working now. I didn’t change any settings on my end, so I’m sure it was the server’s problem. I hope it won’t happen again, I really don’t want to go through this every day.

This has happened to me as well.
You can reset your character by dodging or by using an emote such as “/dance”.
I must confess, before this week, I had never stepped foot in Sorrow’s Embrace explorable mode.
I noticed there were a lot of groups for P1 and P3, and after a few attempts, I found groups who were willing to let me join them even though I didn’t have experience in this dungeon. It became immediately obvious that P1 and P3 are the speed run paths of SE; and truth be told, I’m looking forward to learning how to run them correctly, with all the stack spots etc.
P2 was another matter entirely. First of all, there were no groups to be found. I waited a few days before I found a group of two people, and I was actually worried we couldn’t get a full party; luckily it only took a few more minutes (perhaps we got lucky because it was Saturday, so more people were playing). It turned out we were a group of players new to P2, so we decided to move slowly and learn along the way.
And I have to say: it was one of the most fun experiences I’ve had in GW2 dungeons.
The dialogue between the Dredge is, of course, excellent (it may have to do with the fact that my country suffered under a Communist regime; for some players it might seem silly and over the top, but the irony of all those speeches on how the workers enjoy their lives, while they’re actually terrified of the regime, is quite painful).
The path itself, is more enjoyable than P1 or P3; I also found it a little bit more difficult (nobody to tell the group, “stack here” etc.) and it was clearly longer. Picking out the foremen one by one was fun, the fighting in rather small spaces had us on edge (mainly due to the adds, really ). Protecting the Dredge while he was on his way to pick up a “small” stone was quite intense, lots of mobs in that fight almost overwhelmed us, but it was great to see it through without wiping.
The Taskmaster fight had a nice mechanic, it took us a while to figure out where we’re supposed to lead him to break his shield (mainly because I got downed by one of those crushers, that was the “A-ha!” moment). We eventually positioned ourselves in a circle around the central crusher to make sure the Taskmaster was always getting crushed almost as soon as his shield was up. The rock gathering was a nice break from fighting (we made a joke that we were Starcraft drones and were waiting to hear “we require more minerals”), I really enjoy these moments in dungeons that remind you you’re not playing a mindless hack-and-slash (like the bombs in CoF P2, or the lasers in CoE).
The last fight was a bit annoying at first, since we decided to focus on one golem at a time and couldn’t understand what we were doing wrong. When we figured we should try to kill them more or less at the same time, we failed to do it (too much health left for the second golem). I had to ask for advice on my guild chat, and was told we should chill one of the golems if we can, or use other CC to keep him away when he has too little health, so that we can focus on the other one without worrying. At first, it seemed like we wouldn’t make it yet again, but then we just “clicked” as a group and we were able to finish them a few seconds apart. And it was that feeling that made the whole (long) fight awesome to experience.
So thank you webluki, Bimo, Arkela and Serpentsting for a great run!
And thank you ANet for the dungeon, I really enjoyed SE P2.
I’ve been hoping to do a successful Teq event ever since the update came up.
Every single day, I took part in one or two Teq events, and every single day, I’ve seen them fail.
Every night I was thrown onto overflows, hoping for the chance to get on my main server because, hey, they’ll probably make it (I don’t know if they ever did make it at the times when I was online), but of course that never happened.
I’ve called out AFKers on map chat (yes, I know it’s useless; since they’re AFK they wouldn’t see it anyway; it’s just how angry I was at the time), I’ve asked people to respawn if they’re dead and return to the battle.
I DPS’ed the dragon when the commanders were calling for more DPS, I went to defend turrets when their operators were calling for more players to defend.
I read the guides, I know how it’s supposed to work and what I have to do, and it’s all useless.
It didn’t even matter that I went on 4 events that were coordinated by guilds, and everyone was on TS (though, I must admit, two of these got to 75% and two got close to 50%).
Yesterday, my guildmates were telling me to get on Deso no matter what, however long it would take, because there it will surely succeed. Several of my guildmates had already defeated Teq thanks to Deso.
I spent 80 minutes in overflows. During these 80 minutes, I got the confirmation that I can enter Deso main 24 times. The first 23 times, I was thrown into another overflow, while the 24th time I got a network error message from the game.
After these 80 minutes, one of my guildmates told me he managed to get on deso main. I joined his party and after another 10 minutes I got in.
Then 20 minutes of waiting, but I got on TS, listening to the commanders on Deso, they were all very optimistic. I was looking forward to finally taking part in a coordinated effort that would succeed.
We failed, only having been able to bring Teq down to almost 50%.
At this point, it’s difficult to describe how I feel. It’s as if I’ve lost all hope of ever seeing this event succeed. I don’t even feel angry any more, because even the anger has been drained from me.
The thing is, I can’t afford to waste 2 hours every night just for an event to fail. I have a job, I need to support my family, game time is a limited resource for me. And wasting 2 hours a day for nothing is one of those things that makes me wonder just what it is I’m doing with my life.
I apologise for ending up writing down all of this on the forums, but there is absolutely nothing I can do any more, and just needed some fellow players to know how I feel.
Hope you’re all doing a lot better than I am.
In another topic, a player was highlighting how Scarlet’s invasions seem to lack a purpose and a strategy. This got me thinking… what exactly is she trying to achieve by opening portals in so many areas of Tyria, causing adventurers to rise up and stop the invasions?
I think there’s a very interesting motivation behind this, after reading the following passage from What Scarlet Saw :
The forces that push us this way or that can be redirected. They can be set against one another to the detriment of both, and now I know how.
From the story, it appears that Scarlet’s ultimate goal is to reshape the world by plunging it into chaos, and rebuild it after its destruction.
And to that end, we, the players, the adventurers of Tyria, have become the perfect tools. Think about it: all over the continent, Scarlet is causing opposing armies to engage in combat, no doubt causing death and destruction (obviously, due to the game’s design, we don’t actually get to see that reflected in map updates… yet). Maybe the scope of these invasions is not readily apparent when we’re busy trying to keep up with the zerg, but they’re massive. So many areas of the map, thrown entirely into battle. We are not preserving order, despite what we might think; instead, we have been turned into harbingers of chaos that serve Scarlet’s purpose just as much as the Molten Alliance and the Aetherblades.
All in all, I’m impressed by how her plan seems to be working out.
Thank you for the answers.
I guess the next patch means after the price hike, so I don’t have my hopes up any longer . A cost of 5 tickets is simply too much for one skin.
Does anyone know if the rapier skin will be available before or after Aug 6th?
From what I understand, prices on Aetherized weapons will increase to 5 tickets on that date.
That means that if I decided to go for a ticket, it wouldn’t make sense to hold on to it if the rapier skin is released after the price hike, and I should just spend it as soon as I get it (or, perhaps, it would mean not going for ticket in the first place).
If anyone could provide an answer, it would be greatly appreciated .
I was finally able to win a race today.
In the end, nobody let me win. I eventually won because:
I guess you can say, the reason I finally won was because, at the time, I was finally the best runner on the map (after coming in 2nd and 3rd more times than I would like to count).
But still, how I hate people who won time and time and time again …
It doesn’t hurt you in any way to give up your victory to someone who needs it for the title; you don’t have anything to gain by winning more than once.
Personally, after I finally won, I stopped racing, to give others a chance. I had already spent 5 hours of my Saturday doing nothing but race in the mini-game, and my nerves were stretched thin (at one point, I even lost my temper and called out a player on how selfish he was; I needed to take a break just to cool off after seeing him beat me several times to 1st place).
If you can give up your victory to someone who needs it, trust me, you will be appreciated as a person – and this is something I consider a far better reward than coming in 1st for the nth time.
Thank you for reading what I had to say. As a bonus, here are some screenshots from the top of the structure at the end of the race:
… so why don’t they simply read Caudecus’ mind?
It’s obvious they suspect him of conspiring against the queen (during CM story mode, Jennah claims she’s inviting him to be her guest in DR so that she can keep a closer eye on him; plus, depending on the player’s personal story, you discover that Caudecus is funding, and giving orders to, the bandits).
So why not simply read his mind to discovered what he’s been plotting?
Surely, if the queen and the leader of the Shining Blade were to reveal that they’ve been using their mesmer powers to discover evidence against him, it would have to be accepted.
The only downside I see is that it would be a cause of concern with the other ministers; they probably consider that if they are to work together with the queen, then she should respect them enough not to read their minds. But their concern could probably be mitigated be presenting Caudecus as a special case, since there was already reason to suspect him.
Hello,
I would like to see Destiny’s Edge become more involved in the story of the game.
One possible way for this to happen is to have the members of DE give out missions to the players.
For example:
I’d like to know what you all think of this, and how the idea could be improved / implemented.
Thank you for reading!
