I’m not sure about this new scheme. I nearly fell off the airship platform when I first joined the mist. I nearly fell off looking for the siege weapons vendor and I did fall off the platform while using Burning Speed to assault the enemy’s Airship control point.

I nearly fell off after entering a -insert team color- square keep portal gate while using auto-run and finding that the exit only two steps from a sheer drop-off.

I nearly fell off after following a my floating island to a thick brown line on my mini-map which surely looked to be a bridge of some sort, which was obviously not when I adjusted in the nick of time.

I’ve nearly been killed by the automatic turrets sprawled across the entirety of the map. One shot takes 3/5 of my life and sometimes you get double targeted by the pair and it puts you into a downed state. The recharge time on the turret fire is so high that I cannot dodge them all if running straight to them without using my skills (on long cool-downs) that increase my area covered when moving.

I’ve been killed by the Champion Bell Ringer in one chain of his disabling bell ring attack. Using melee on him, I was unable to exit range before being downed. Only by anticipating his usage of the bell attack and backing out early can I survive one disabling bell ring attack.

I’ve been with a medium zerg assaulting a large keep main gate underneath an arch with the sky opening near the gate where no enemy was visible, but enemy attacks were constantly pelting our siege rams/cannons. Nobody could visibly target an enemy to counter, while getting blasted by somebody somewhere.

I’ve noticed the terrain in general is rocky and elevation fluctuates wildly in small spaces. I also know that 1/4 of my skills are very keen on being evenly positioned, altitude-wise, to strike a hit. For some reason being on a rock or being in a gully or being on a hill will cause these abilities to, frankly, just miss.

Everything in this new map (a great attempt at giving us something new to play with) is very much made to appeal to the eyes and not necessarily provide an amusing playground for players to fully enjoy.

Despite my thorough joy in online pvp and my desire for success here in this game, within 20 minutes of being there I experienced probably the most grief-to-player zone I’ve ever witnessed. Well… that dungeon in EQ with the skeletons with monsters literally everywhere and all able to solo kill a player and all able to be trained to the dungeon zone-in by anybody trying desperately to leave, the monsters killing all other players in their paths was the absolute worst thing I’ve had to experience in a MMORPG. Other than that, this is just apparently designed to kill you and frustrate you with environment features/PvE design.

I died about 5 times in PVP action and about 15 times in PVE.

The game is trying to kill me.

I told that Mesmer teacher that whole story and gave them your name. She looked in her computer database for your Mesmer Permit and she said you never passed your final exam.

In fact, she drug up a whole laundry list of criminal notifications on you. And on further inspection, we came to an agreement that somebody this lowly must surely be a thief.

I went to the court today, to explain my case to the court people. They had to recess three times because I kept crying and they couldn’t understand what I was trying to tell them.

Then some guy with a long torch for lighting the tall lamps on the wall came in and all I could see was some thief carrying my tortured broom and setting it on fire.

I was so distraught, I actually feinted.

I have a reoccurring nightmare about Thieves stealing all the Brooms in Tyria. It was almost as bad as fighting Zaitan end movie was.

PLEASE STOP STEALING ALL THE BROOMS THIEF!

Dude, this is an epidemic of biblical proportions. I talked to my friend from India, who also uses a broom to get around the borderlands. He said on his way from Quentin Lake a group of thieves jumped out and mugged him at gunpoint! They ganked his broom from him and all three of them rode off on it laughing!

And my neighbor, Mister kitten Smiley, was also a victim of this heinous robbing spree! He said to me on the telephone, while choking back his tears, that he and his girlfriend were enjoying a day of herb picking near Speldan and when they came back to their brooms to go home… GONE! All the brooms are gone!

This is a crime spree the likes Tyria has never seen before! Them thieves… they… they just jacking all the brooms, yo!

I parked my broom out infront of stonemist castle, chained it up on the broom rack and went inside. I said hi to the lord and made my way to the third floor to make use of the mystic forge. I desperately had to convert my jute cloth into wool during large-scale siege warfare and it just couldn’t wait.

I came back down and went to the broom rack and freaking thief stole my broom.

I guess i should post the traits. GL with balance, I hope you get it right. It really makes and breaks parts of the game

IE the aoe nerf in wvw which makes larger zergs simply always win.

this is the PvE/WvW berserker same traits as PvP

obviously much more damage based on itemization

This build is not an instant-win, but it is a pure damage build.

It cannot survive long in battles, cannot take many hits, and is certain to die.

But, it does do enough damage in a 1v1 scenario to actually have a chance to win an encounter with most classes. Something the PvP mist character cannot do with this same build. The damage is just too low.

In order to maintain a max damage build that is viable in PvE/WvW, it needs to have scaling in critical damage between 58%-108%. 58% being totally not-viable.

Its just that simple. So, when doing your scaling, please keep this in mind.

I play elementalist mostly, so I’d like to put in my two cents for this critical damage change.

I understand what you are trying to do, pretty much, which is make players opt for other traits instead of just going full on damage to be useful. Or, I think that is the goal here.

I just want to say that I currently use a ele build, traits, skills, items, etc, which all maximize my dps and utility that prolongs my survivability slightly so i can continue dishing out dps.

This build does not work in pvp mists and you’ll see in the pictures why it doesnt.

If the ‘downscaling’ for critical damage does not surpass the critical damage amount allowed in pvp, this build is dead.

I used to use this, but with 10 in earth for armor of earth.

Was better for surviving. And yeah, this guy ahead of me. 11k health and ur just dead.

At that point you gotta say to yourself, “do I want to do a lot of damage before I die, or do I want to live alittle longer doing less damage?”

D/D Signet Condi build: thoughts?

I was stacking condition/power for my daggers for awhile.
I think at the time 100 power was actually giving less return than 100 condition for the paper value of it.

However, you have to consider the fact that dagger/dagger isn’t really a survivability build with power/condition stacked. So unless you plan on attacking swiftly to disengage and reengage later, straight power was always better.

Infact some combos with just power stacking will eliminate a target in under 5 seconds and your on your way again.

Problem with ele is that our toughness/vitality scale poorly.

All our builds that can use them cant get enough of them to put us on toe-to-toe with some classes.

Meaning, if your pwning them, they obviously suck or aren’t built for what your doing to them.

To whit:

I’ve done some initial attacks on warriors where 5k barely moves their health bar. Meanwhile, as soon as they engage with me, 1/4-1/3 of my bar is gone. Combine with the idea that that you have a limited window to kite them before they’re just right ontop of you for the duration and you have a situation where ur trumped.

I’ve engaged necromancers and pulled off combos wherein I’m dealing 33k damage to them in the space of my healthbar which is 11.800 health. That’s almost a full 3 to 1 difference and it still wasn’t enough.

I’ve gotten lucky afew times with mesmers and actually downed them before I was downed. The problem with that is that they have more health and usually I die first.

The pro attack scenario for an elementalist is ideally not to be in first. IE: Your able to damage/CC while not targeted. It only takes afew seconds for an elementalist to make themselves a huge target.

Then there are the bonus features:

Ele can and will crit and kill 5 players instantly given the right combination/crits

Ele can and will outrun any players chasing them given the right combination/cooldowns

Ele can be support and tag team to high heaven and actually heal things

1> Like roaming around map where all combat is possible. Some of us just like player vs player combat.

2> Like getting chest of ascended loot from random keep lord.

3> Like … mmm… something else I’m sure…

And three dislikes:

1> Dislike 10 to 5 Aoe Nerf. Makes confronting a larger army impossible now.

2> Dislike fighting doors for loot. Sometimes though its better than PvE.

3> Dislike how you took my broom away. I mean, whats up with that.

And 1 thing Anet dislikes:

1> Players having fun.

Tags need to identify which commander is doing what.
Seeing as posting in map or other will spam you if your directing a large group.

Offensive, Defensive, Special Ops.

Probably need 5 colors if your going to make events requiring 5 groups.

I just attacked a champion keep guy for 5k a whip.

That’s 10k damage per second for anybody who doesn’t know whip.

On the other hand, though, a Veteran Archer on a wall we were attacking took me to 100 health in one skill.

I went to WvW to PvP a door for loot.

Took me less than 2 hours to get 20 champion loot bags by fighting a door.

Took me 2 hours to get enough to open 1 chest in scarlet cave for 2 yellow loots.

Takes me 1 hour to gather 2gp worth of junk.

I’m totally in for this PvP door event.

I was in WVW roaming around solo, saw a downed player ahead so I went to help. There were 5 red names around the ally trying to plant a flag. I was just in range, so I RTL there, Updraft, Burning Speed, EQ, Sandstorm, Churning Earth. They had used the House Invisible when I knocked them all around at the beginning and when they all became revealed, they were all dead.

The guy on the ground says OMG YESSS!!!!!

Look. When I started WvW, my server (Maguuma) was pretty distraut. Constantly complaining about not being able to overcome larger numbers of opponents. This being about 20-30 Magummi VS 40-60 Other Server combatants. It took me some time to convince them that all they needed to do was coordinate better and be smarter. Once you break the back of the larger zerg force, less and less of them will continue to log in to play. By the end of the week the zerg sizes will be evened for us and at that point we’ll just stomp them with our superior play.

I lead along with several other tactically sound commanders around Eternal Borderland. We used evasion techniques, to lure our enemies into positions where we could engage preemptively. We withdrew early to force chase into areas where a counter-attack was in our favor. We specifically made longer routes to coax the enemy into sieges so we could bulldoze them out front. We did SO many strategically brilliant things that for that month we weren’t just top of the WvW, we had put into our troops a sense that we were number one and we could beat a massive red blob three times our size by just being smarter and doing more to win.

Now you ‘programmers’ and ‘developers’, I use the term loosely, come in and change the dynamics of large scale group combat. You say no longer can a smaller army defeat a larger army. In ONE FELL SWOOP you destroy our servers ability to survive and win a WvW week.

By this I’m talking about 10 to 5 aoe nerfs. Where before 20 people fighting 60 people could still target enough enemies to challenge them to not just be a blob of people and force them to use cunning and tactics, now is just a force of 20 people being outnumbered and outright killed by 60 people.

Theres no two ways around it anymore. You destroyed large scale combat in WvW. Since the change, my server has NOT WON a SINGLE WEEK. Theres just nothing 20 people can do to stop a massive blob of opponents anymore. Its not that they are better, theres just too many of them now. Our 20 people cannot even do enough to 60 opponents to make a dent.

And all of this rests on you idiotic idea to limit the amount of impact one player can have. No longer can 5 of the best pvpers on our server combat 20 of the worst pvpers in the game. They might have a luck of the draw chance to beat them if those 20 players are level 2 and super brand mew.

Please, you have to reverse your numbnut idea. A smaller zerg needs a fighting chance against a larger zerg in order for WvW to have any kind of future. Reverse your AoE nerf. Bring back our ability to compete with 60 freaking people who just have to log in to win WvW.

Is Dumb.

Every single encounter in this game is based on doing damage to the boss, Not using your superior utility skills.

The one exception might be the frog boss in super fun land. There you have to leap from stone to stone before being able to throw a crystal into the frog’s mouth.

Every other boss I’ve seen, the boss needs to be defeated by jumping, standing, dodging here and this way and then dpsing the boss to death.

Theres no boss where using an AoE stun here, a group movement speed here, a snare or root here, a transform into moa there a portal here an invisible group here, or anything else Utility-wise is necessary.

Changing DPS rates to make boss encounters more ‘Fun’ and ‘Boost the use of Utility’… Well… That’s just a fool’s errand. Everything is based on DPSing the boss. Until you change all of that, your just wasting your time. And fluctuating market prices.
