New Build blocks claiming of guild halls

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

LooLoo.1437

Me and my friend and 2 kind strangers entered the instance to claim the guild hall, and while we were killing the Maws, a new build was released. We thought nothing of it, however, by the time it came to claiming the guild hall, placing your hand on it did nothing.

So we just lost 30 minutes of our time trying to claim it and feel really down about it because we’re a very small guild and won’t have the opportunity to easily retry again.

Please help. ;.;

The guild is The Quaggans [QUAG], and this happened about 9 minutes ago while claiming The Gilded Hollow.

Magic Find - now completely useless?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

LooLoo.1437

Before the massive nerf to all things farmable, I had (and still have) a complete magic find set and completely redid my entire trait build so that I wouldn’t do crap for damage because magic find is crappy for everything besides magic find %.

So my magic find is around 137 without a magic find booster. I spent around 5-7 gold compiling everything, that includes the armor, jewels, weapon and the runes and sigils.

I did this under the assumption that farming like a normal person for an hour or two a day would be allowed and not discouraged. I made this decision after reading post after post on reddit and the forums about how Magic Find helps tremendously when trying to make money.

Now I’m only allowed to farm 10-20 minutes anywhere before my gear is useless. I don’t understand why farming is a bad thing and had to be nerfed, if it’s my decision to farm hours a day, then I should be allowed to. I don’t get why nerfing it for “botters” is considered a legit reason to make a complete build absolutely useless.

In every post I’ve made since the last patch, I’ve asked “What are we supposed to do now?” Only answers I’ve gotten were “Find something else to do”, “Stop whining” and “Spend real money for fake money.”

Karma is for Legendary Weapons. You will need a minimum of 1 million karma to get a Legendary Weapon.

I’m close to 4g at level 31.

And that’s after buying a set of good looking level 6o armour & weapons to transmute to appearance onto my level 25 gear.

I decided that since I’m buying gear on the TP rather than crafting it, I might as well sell the crafting materials that I have gathered so far. Even discounting the amount I invested to get to around 50 armour / weapon crafting I still sold enough to earn about 3g.

:edit:

“Buying low & selling high” is not abusing the TP.

It’s economics 101. It’s one of the most basic of the principles of earning money.

Ah you got me there, economics 101. It’s not abusing.

I would sit at the Trading post, calculating what material would offer the best profit (which would only be about 5-10% profit) and I would try to buy low and sell high.

It doesn’t work. Ever. Actually right now I have 500 sharp claws on the Trading post that I can’t take down because if I did I would literally lose money because people will NOT stop undercutting. It’s not just that one material, it’s every kitten thing on the trading post.

Has anyone here made 200 gold from the Trading Post in the past week? Or was it basically the first week after the trading post decided it would work when the prices were too erratic for anything to be priced correctly?

Pretty sure doing speed runs of anything is not abusing it. I remember a lot of dungeons and instances in GW1 that was done with speed runs and farming runs where you farm only certain mobs and leave.

That’s called being efficient not abusing. If someone did CoF in 17-20 minutes and did it multiple times a day, why is this abuse? Because they did it faster than what is intended?

If I were to farm ANYTHING I would want to farm the best way, highest reward for the lowest time spent. That does not mean there is NO time spent. I don’t know a single person that runs ANY dungeon in ANY game for “fun”. They do it for a reward, a pay off, something that gets them closer to their goals.

Arenanet said so themselves, there is little to no end game content. Why is it whenever people discover a way to make reaching your goal easier, it gets nerfed within a few days?

So you people are telling me that if I wanted my cultural armor, it’s justified that I should play this game non-stop for over a month to get it? Because that’s a reasonable amount of time to get 1 skin on 1 character?

Not only do these nerfs hurt hard core gamers, they hurt casual players too. I would farm a spot maybe once a day for an hour. Now I can’t even do that. What is the point of having magic find if you can’t get anymore drops after 20 minutes of farming? Just don’t farm? How are we supposed to get any drops anywhere then? Log off every 20 minutes? How is this a good freaking idea?

I just don’t understand why they keep doing this. Preserving a reason to keep people playing for a longer time? A lot of people are just not going to play anymore. That’s not a good exchange. Making things nearly impossible and take way too long is a bad idea.

Don’t say “Good riddance, you people were too whiny anyway.” These are excellent reasons for people to be upset. Before it was hard to obtain those goals now they just made it even worse.

“Aww boo hoo, you can’t get your virtual reward because you think Arena Net owes it to you.” Are you kidding me? No one spends 60 dollars on a game to be told that the company who made the game owes them nothing and to deal with it.

I knew they would nerf CoF the moment I learned it could take 16 minutes to make 26 silver. Fine, but nerfing ALL dungeons if you do them again in a day? Are you serious? How the hell is this justifiable? So we can’t farm dungeons, can’t farm monsters anywhere else, and can’t do dynamic events “too fast” then what are we left to do?

For those who complain that this game lacks of endgame content.

I don’t want something in a day, I want something I can get in let’s say.. not 200 hours worth of work?

I’ve tried every method imaginable to make money, and before nerf it was around 1 gold per hour. I thought that was bad, I am not even going to try to make money anymore until these systems are looked at again and repaired.

I try to complete the map but there are so many skill point bugs that I can’t even complete a zone without running into a bug so I just give up and sit in town or play an alt.

I had 15g by the time I hit lvl 80

Once I hit about 45-50 I only used armor from drops and storyline quests. I never bought a single piece of armor or anything from the AH.

I guess it’s easier for some people but not sure.

I never bought anything on the AH since it was down even when I was level 80. The highest amount of gold I ever had was 14g.

Yeah I’ve played every single day since early start. I should not have only 14gold for it.

People who have 100+ gold did it by abusing the Trading Post, buying low selling high. Not everyone can do this and the profits are so minimal since you can wait all day for the perfect opportunity to buy low and sell high but guess what, if you do not sell what you bought within the first hour you will be undercut and you will not make your money back for days.

This is not a good way to make money, I don’t care what anyone says. The economy is a pile of rotting corpses right now. 4 million people using the trading post, it will be near impossible to use this trick if everyone did it. That’s why there needs to be multiple avenues one may go down. Those avenues are now blocked off.

I do not like feeling that there is no reason to play this game anymore. Having a goal and trying to achieve it is the purpose, so I understand why legendaries are super hard to get, but getting something that literally just costs gold to get (not legendaries) should not take hundreds of hours to get, and that was BEFORE they nerfed absolutely everything in the game.

if your a gambling man….gamble a gold or 2 worth of items in the mystic forge get lucky profit…thats always fun if you got a gold or 2 to spare… other than that keep up farming and rocking the crafting

Gambling is not a good way to make profit. I am assuming 90% of people here have a REAL job, and would take having a REAL job over going to a casino and attempting to make a profit off losing money.

For instance. You make 4 rare 76+ weapons, plop them into the mystic forge, you have a 20% chance of getting an exotic.

So I did the calculations, it’s around 1 gold per set to make. So 20% of the time you should get an exotic, there will be times where you are on a win streak and times you’re on a lose streak. Statistically speaking, if you DO in fact get the exotic you can sell it for 2-3 gold in a couple of days.

So we will do a little test here. I do this trick 10 times, costing me 10 gold, and I should get around 2-3 exotics for it (average). I will make back 6-9 gold in 3 days. You may get lucky and no one will undercut you if you put your item up matching lowest seller, and it may sell sooner rather than later.

I have made 9 exotics doing this method, each time it took days to get my investment back and I actually was slowly losing money, despite the fact at the beginning I was having an amazing win streak.

Gambling using the mystic forge is a horrible idea if you’re trying to make money. The only reason you should be using the mystic forge is to try to get the legendary base item which is 5% chance off of combining 4 exotics and a 1% chance if you’re using rares.

10 dollars for 2 gold. So to make 120 gold I need to spend 600 dollars?

No, I don’t think ArenaNet is doing these things to force players to spend Real Money on Gems. The whole point of the Gem Store was to eliminate the use of RMT and to give players the option to spend real money to get optional things.

I do not believe Arena Net is that greedy. They sold over 4 million copies of Guild Wars 2, making these nerfs right now makes no sense if it was to align with the “Pay us more money for fun” route.

Dungeons Okay great, running CoF maybe 3-5 times a day, and sometimes TA because I like the TA armor and eventually would work towards the Gift for the Legendary weapon. No point in running any dungeon more than once a day now since the final reward after the first run is now 6 silver and it requires 1000 tokens for a full set of armor and 500 for the gift to which I reply: “Okay there is absolutely nothing left to do in this game to make money”.

My goal as it stands is completely and utterly unobtainable. Before I was given a window of 1 gold an hour (which by the way is not a lot since that would require 120 hours of farming or dungeons to get the full tier 3 armor). Who the hell wants to farm 120 hours to get a skin? Not me.

So my question to the players and to Arena Net is: What else is there left to do?

The answer: WvW. I do not like WvW, too much running, too little action, almost always zerg versus zerg which requires little to no skill, just who has more people with them. I am sure there are people who like this, but I certainly find it a HUGE waste of time and incredibly frustrating.

So, last possible resort to make money:

Level up alts? Sell every single item (besides cloth) to a vendor since alts aren’t farming an area, they’re moving through them so no diminishing returns.

I love how we were given plenty of ways to make money or obtain our goals once we hit level 80 and now the only thing you can do for your level 80 to make money is to not play your level 80.

How the hell does this make ANY sense?

Let’s not ignore the thousands of bugs with the zones and classes/skills/traits.

What’s the point anymore?

I want nothing more than to love this game but ArenaNet is consistently making it IMPOSSIBLE for me to do anymore. Playing it has now become not fun, but almost like a second job.

Leading to this result: most of items on the Trading Post sell for 1 copper more than vendor price. I don’t know why people are just so neglecting for them to ignore the fact they’re losing money, but yet it happens and it happens ALL the time. This in turn makes crafting a ginormous loss in money.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO LEVEL CRAFTING OTHER THAN LEVELS AND BEING MAXED OUT FOR A LEGENDARY WEAPON THAT YOU WILL PROBABLY NEVER GET

I have heard people in Lion’s Arch saying they make money off crafting dyes or jewelry. I have looked into both of these and neither give a profit but almost always is a loss or breaks even. It is NOT profit if you can sell the materials for said item for the same price or more than the item. Regardless of if the mats were farmed or not, it is not profit.

My suggestion to fix the undercutting into losses to actually bolster the economy: If you want there to be a 5% listing and a 10% selling fee, make it so you can not drop to vendor price but rather 15% above vendor price (at least on crafted items), so selling on Trading post does not cause such a loss and then most items are properly priced. This way careless or stupid people will still be able to break even as if they were selling to a vendor. I am assuming that Arena Net didn’t make the trading post so 99% of all drops could be npc’d for more money. It doesn’t make sense and it hurts the economy too much to be this way much longer.
Farming is now absolutely pointless. I would farm a group of monsters in Frostgorge Sound, and it was NOT trolls. And 90% of the time I was the only person there. I had a full set of magic find + 26% from raspberry bars and 50% from a magic find booster so I could get as much as I could in an hour (I don’t like farming more than an hour at a time as I feel this makes the game miserable and not worth playing). I go to my spot 2 days ago, after an hour I had received one Powerful Blood. 6 days ago, I would get 5-6 an hour WITHOUT the booster. And I knew that there were diminishing returns and I was informed that you should farm a bit and then leave or log out for a while. I did this, I would log into an alt for an hour and play her after 15 minutes of farming. Still nothing.

I gave up farming when I realized I could make more money by doing dungeons, since the diminishing returns is too high for farming for anything to be worth it.

I will start off stating that I am going to use my personal experiences and opinions in the following argument.

These things absolutely must be addressed or the drop in people wanting to play this game will drop within a few days to a few weeks.

I love everything Guild Wars. I am a huge fan of ArenaNet and as an aspiring game artist ArenaNet is the absolute dream job. That being said it kills me to make this post, I do not want to do this but it has to be done if ANYONE wants to play this game at 80 for any reason other than sitting in Lion’s Arch talking about Quaggans and Gold Sellers.

TLDR; This game has absolutely nothing to do anymore thanks to diminishing returns on literally every area in the game. Too many money sinks and now nothing to make money with.

My Goal Ever since I was a wee-sprout in the Grove I gandered at the Tier 3 Cultural Armor, I knew while everyone else was working for Legendaries at 80 and saving up for that, my goal would be to get T3 armor as it would be easier overall as I have little patience to farm for months at end for a rainbow stick.

This is where the problem begins. I need to make gold. I was given multiple options for this at the time that I hit 80, all of which are pointless now.

Use the Trading Post buy low sell high, or buy t5 mats and mystic forge them into t6 (this only worked for one mat as others were a loss in money) or take a huge gamble and try to make exotic weapons from rares in the mystic forge. I chose the exchange and put my mats onto the Trading Post to be sold, matching lowest seller because undercutting would reduce my profits and it’s kinda rude as hell to do. Within an hour I have been undercut so much that the current selling price dropped by over a silver. So now if I were to sell again I would lose not just profits, but I would be in the RED. This isn’t so much as ArenaNet’s fault but rather the fault of players who do not understand 1) math, 2) simple economics such as profit and loss, 3) want to sell fast so everyone and their mom just consistently undercuts everyone else.

Remake Ranger

in Suggestions

Posted by: LooLoo.1437

LooLoo.1437

My main is a ranger. I find there are some problems with the class, things that really bug me.

Most people believe that a ranger does more damage with a Great Sword than with a bow. Why is this? I could understand daggers, could understand bows, even a sword. But a GREAT SWORD? It’s just such a random weapon for a Ranger to have, and for it to be one of the best weapons to use it is just kind of irritating. I made a ranger to be a ranger not a warrior knock off.

Rangers are also kinda low for dps. If you go 100% dps glass cannon build, then you only even out with other classes that aren’t even trying to be glass cannon. This isn’t that big of an issue since not everyone can be the best dps, but it’s still kinda silly.

Why can’t we crit “Bosses” the ones with the little target symbols, like Dragons and some Dungeon Bosses? That decreases my damage significantly since precision, and crit bleed (condition damage) is what most rangers run (unless they want to be low damage and high survivability). So I do maybe 1/3 of my normal damage to these bosses.

Another thing, my pet gets in the way when I am trying to run ANYWHERE. If I put it on passive it pulls like 20 things and slows me down, even occasionally killing me.

Why does my pet stand so far in front of me? I would prefer it to be more to the left or right, and closer to my side. No other class has to deal with an ally unit running into stuff with the exception of Flesh Golem which seems to attack anything in sight anyway.

When I jump down something and it makes my pet run around for AGES, not just taking forever to get to me, but also pulling every single mob on the way. This can be really irritating, especially when the only “fix” is to swap it out right after landing. (Since there’s a cooldown on swapping this can be annoying.)

I decide to change my pet because there will be a different boss or situation to fight, I have to WAIT for the cool down to finish. This isn’t too bad unless you want to see what ability a pet has and you swap to it to check and then you have to wait 20 seconds if you want to pick a different one (out of combat). Really annoying.

People were abusing the abilities on the Red Moa and the Siamoth to get plasma so they put in the swap cool down out of combat to prevent people from abusing these abilities. So now everyone has to wait 20 seconds to swap out of combat, instead of just making those specific pets have a cool down that doesn’t reset after swapping. :|

Hello ArenaNet and other concerned individuals,

I have an idea that is simple. Make the currency you receive from completing bosses and a dungeon account bound. This way you can run the dungeon on different characters if you’d like and still be able to see something for it.

I don’t think it would be too hard to change and it would make people who rolled alts happier to play alts instead of feeling stuck playing one character.

I would like to hear everyone’s opinions on the matter.
