Gosh this popcorn is really good. I never really understood people who said they were done arguing, but continue to argue anyways. I think I counted “I’m done” at least 3 times. I haven’t done many of the mini-games yet, but the ones I’ve done, I’ve gotten silver on pretty easily. And as far as I can tell, many of them are there to help you get better at the masteries, like gliding. Isn’t it good to do things that help you get better at the skills you need to survive and achieve in a game? And they are just mini-games. In a game. I used to rage quit while doing jumping puzzles. Until I realized, they’re just jumping puzzles. I can die a million times, it’s just a game. Once I changed my attitude I got immediately better. Now I just laugh when I fall or die…. And waypoint… and try again.
Personally I always rez people when it’s safe to do so… and TBH, I’ve never had people just run past me or leave an even where I’ve been downed and not stop and rez me. I’m sure it happens though.
I’m loving it. No complaints here.

Wow. I know what you’re asking. Maybe my first sentence was not worth mentioning, but the second part I asked in order to >TRY TO HELP YOU<. Knowing which card/monitor setup/ and drivers will go a long way to helping you figure out your problem. Wanna try this again or should I just leave you to your own devices?
Have had zero issue with GW2 and Windows 10. Maybe try running a repair on your client? Maybe you’ve got some file corruption?

I run eyefinity with 3 monitors… Are you using an AMD or Nvidia card?
I understand wanting to progress, but am a little confused when people want to experience all the content of an MMO in a week. I find that a little strange. But to each their own I guess.
Out of curiousity. Is this something they’ve added with the Scribe and guild hall decorations? Or did they do something specifically for your friend?
we don’t know if it was done purposely or if it’s coincidence and we probably never will, you can decide for yourself, our guild already has
There is an NPC that you can get for your guild hall, he is a scribe and his name is Douglas Bird. Our friend that passed was named Doug, and our guild tag is [BIRD].
Coincidentally, there are also many famous Douglas Bird’s in the world so could he be named for one of them? sure… but in game, he’ll be ours <3
That’s amazing… I’m going to go with your belief.
.
I would consider myself a casual. I didn’t get to play that much this weekend, and did have one other person with me to play, and there were usually other people around to do the different events. I did die a few times, but I would expect that. I’m not in a rush to get through the content. And I don’t expect the elite spec to not take some sort of time to achieve. I’m not even sure I want or need to use Tempest. I >do< see the argument that initially they said people with map completion would unlock the elite right away… but I kind of like this option better. I had map completion on my ele, so I had 200 points to spend and unlocked half of the tempest elite. I’m an explorer, so the minute I unlocked even the first mastery for gliding I kind of used that to move around on the map and unlock the waypoints and see quite a bit of verdant brink. I don’t find it grindy myself, as I want to experience the content. The WvWers who want the elite spec can do that 100% through WvW, they don’t have to PVE. I dunno. I’m not a super hardcore player, I’ve learned my class fairly well though, I’m ok with dying in a hard battle, or a battle taking a long time. I like feeling like the fight took some sort of skill and determination. I’ve played for part of one day, and I’ve liked what I’ve experienced so far. The only real drawback for >me< is that I get lost in the levels, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out.
Those are just my thoughts. No buyers remorse here.
(And… I’m so casual I only had one character at 80 with map completion… And I’ve been playing since launch. I just got map completion this year. My second alt, a mesmer I used levelling tomes and some world completion and I have chronomancer unlocked and that was spending about 3 weeks levelling him, and not every day.)
Out of curiousity. Is this something they’ve added with the Scribe and guild hall decorations? Or did they do something specifically for your friend?

I’m more of a casual player, and while I don’t want the game to be soul-crushingly hard, I also want to enjoy the fights and feel like it’s taking a real effort and skill. Dying is ok as long as it’s my screw up.
So speaking as a “casual” who doesn’t really enjoy face-rolling through content, bring on the BWE2 difficulty. I like to feel like I’ve accomplished something, not just spammed the auto attack.
I’ve lost three family members to cancer. My mom is a breast cancer survivor, two uncles are prostate cancer survivors. It’s a terrible thing, and no one should ever have to go through it alone. I’m so very happy you were able to find comfort and friendship in the only game I keep coming back to to play. I hope your fight goes well. There’s nothing wrong with expressing gratitude for something that has brought some measure of joy to your life.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but: do the changes to liquid world experience as talked about in the blog, include leveling tomes for characters? Should I create new alts to use the level to 20 and level to 30 tomes I have in my inventory before HoT??
Edit ** Never mind. I looked on the wiki. liquid world experience is exactly that… But PVE doesn’t have this does it??
Where did they announce Halloween events were going to be added on the 23rd?
I’ll just point out that none of those benchmarks are for Directx 9 games. Newer games using 10 and higher will benefit from the newer hardware features in that card. It’s also entirely possible that newer hardware and driver combinations just aren’t optimized as well for Directx 9 games. So maybe an older driver will work better for GW2 (but not so much for brand new games). But those are only guesses on my part.
I honestly never have map chat up. I will sometimes chat with people that are right around me, and I’ve yet to experience a truly rude person. Closest I got was a “Go Away” in the Eternal Battlegrounds because I didn’t realize the people were in there dueling and messing around and I was attacking people. And even then, I ended up chatting with them for a bit before I wandered off.
Game crashes A LOT since balance patch.

I laughed out loud and snorted and got a weird look from my boss (luckily he’s a gamer and understood)… YOU RACIST.
Thanks Donari… Now that you say that I remember reading that explanation before. Still, you’d think they could implement a way to make the original person immune to kicking.
I find it silly that the person who is leading/formed the group can be kicked at all. That’s stupid.
I’d love to see more emotes.

If you’re running Windows 10 and an Nvidia card, you need to roll back to the Windows 8.1 driver as far as I know. That should fix your FPS. I’ve also read running GW2 in compatibility mode can fix audio issues.
If the roll back to the older driver fixes your problem with FPS, make sure you disable driver updates from Windows update otherwise it’ll just force the newer broken drivers on you.
Make sure you turn off automatic updates for drivers, or windows update will keep installing the newer drivers on you.
(Driver updates from windows updates are the only ones you can turn off… all other updates in Windows 10 happen no matter what.)
Let me know if you need instructions on where to turn them off.
I haven’t experienced any game difficulties since I installed Windows 10. AMD 7970 here. Haven’t noticed a scratching sound. Are you guys all using onboard audio? Digital headsets? Sound cards? It’ll probably help with the troubleshooting if you identify what you’re using for sound. I haven’t had to run the game in compatibility mode. Also, what are your sound settings in game?

Hey… Did you resolve this??
Halcyon, I know there’s an issue with Windows 10 forcing driver updates and I know it was pushing out an Nvidia update that caused havoc with people’s machines. So even though you downloaded the drivers right from Nvidia, it’s possible Windows 10 with their auto driver updating may have over wrote the drivers you manually installed. Just a thought.
I love JPs… and can’t wait for more!

Nope. Your TV is really just a big monitor. And 1080p (if you’re running at 1920×1080) is 1080p. The physical size doesn’t affect performance or demand on your system. Just the resolution. What did you have for a system before? I’m not an Nvidia guy, but I would think that you should be able to run both the game and YouTube with any stutters. Unless you’re getting some sort of lag due to YouTube sucking up bandwidth. Does it happen with every video you plan on YouTube? Is it consistent at any time of day? Did you run the exact same setup (screens and resolutions on both) before? And are you running them as extended desktops or Nvidia’s flavour of eyefinity? Are you running the latest video card drivers Nvidia recommends for your card (not the ones supplied by Microsoft)?
Edited to add this question: Do you have the onboard video enabled or disabled? Doesn’t matter if you’re using it… You should have it disabled if you aren’t.
(*I’m not assuming anything about your computer knowledge, so take no offense if something I’ve asked or said seems obvious… Just trying to help you troubleshoot.)

Which browser are you using might make a difference. As far as I know, your video card would be used for hardware acceleration for rendering the YouTube Video. And a bit of processor time as well. You’ve got a great specced rig, but GW2 is really processor heavy program, so having YouTube playing at the same time will affect performance.
Try dialing back the resolution of your second screen, or playing back the videos in a lower resolution and see if that makes a difference.

Just curious. Have you noticed any frame rate changes enabling ambient occlusion or SMAA?
110% love this idea. I’ve met quite a few good random people that I’ve played several evenings with and then I take a break for awhile and go back I can’t remember who I did what with… It’s like going on a date and not having a second one because you can’t remember their kitten name. My memory isn’t that great. Having notes would be excellent. If I can’t remember how I know a person, it’s kind of useless having them on my friends list.
I actually used to log in more frequently, as did my friends under the old dailies/monthly system. I understand you get rewards for just logging in (boring, to me at least). But having a shorter list gives me less choices to complete the dailies with, and doesn’t take me all around the world. Yes, the new system is simpler, but I can’t remember the last time I bothered. It’s just not fun for me.
LMAO. Where is she located?
I love all the buzzwords people slap around like “SJW” and “gamergate”. You know, it is possible for people to have formulated their own opinions and actually do believe in acceptance and diversity because they feel it is the moral and right thing for themselves and society as a whole. The very term “SJW” implies that a person is just jumping on a bandwagon and really doesn’t care about the subject matter, but only to increase people’s opinions of themselves. While there may indeed be people like this, I don’t think it applies to most people and is simply a way of trying to dismiss that people actually do care about treating other human beings with dignity, respect and equality. Whenever I read comments on threads like this on the internet, it’s always a small group of people decrying “SJWs” and how they’re ruining everything… And as for gaming companies “falling prey to SJWs”… no. They’re business people who see markets that they haven’t tapped yet. As much as I’d like to think it’s all for the noble reason of just wanting to be inclusive, it’s probably more about expanding sales and their target audience.

I didn’t know anything about the “auto-build” feature. From what I can remember the last time they redid traits they refunded all the points instead of “guessing”. But I could be wrong. I wonder what would have happened if all the trait points had been reset before they patched – ie: you had no points in any of the skills. Would they still have auto assigned them or would you have had all the points waiting for you to pick? I had full world completion so I was able to train everything (with points left over) and pick the lines and skills I wanted. That sucks for people who didn’t have enough points to unlock what they wanted.
Can’t wait to try this when I get home! SO EXCITED!
i don’t really get it… nothing against the lgbt community, have several friends who are, and legally i think they should have more rights, but why the need to put hot topic issues in a fantasy video game? In a game about unity and fighting dragons just seems like a good way to stirr up controversy and have more religion debates in trade chat and can see otherwise good people who just happen to have a religious belief getting banned just for having a discussion (even if in a polite/friendly manner)
why not put obama or hillary flyers up, or crosses or other religious symbols ingame too? Thought the whole point of a fantasy video game was to escape reality.
bunny trail but… why do voters even care about social issues atm when we are billions or trillions in debt atm in the usa. everything else seems kind of irrelevant in comparison to the giant problem that isn’t going away.
again (just to make it clear and i dont get banned for even posting this lol) i support the agenda, but I don’t get the need for it in a game. let the politicians and preachers fight in real life, ingame i just want to fight dragons and talk in trade chat without debates.
Being LGBTQ is not a political issue. It is a fact of life. And by your arguments, why have male and female genders in a fantasy game. Or relationships. Or different political factions. Remove any source of conflict between people or differences.
I like that this game has chosen to reflect all of the people who play it, not just some, in their NPCs. It’s inclusive.
You know there are LGBTQ in many many works of fantasy right? Game of Thrones is an immediate one that comes to mind. Even Orson Scott Card (staunch Mormon) chose to include a homosexual in one of his books.
Also… as a dude who happens to be gay, I have no agenda, other than to live my life and to be treated with the same respect all people should be treated with. We don’t hold meetings where we discuss strategy or have some secret plan to convert the world. I think you meant to say, you support equality for all people, not a gay “agenda”.
Please understand – I’m not attacking you, and I’m not angry… I’m just perplexed when I see these points being made. I don’t get it.

Folding Carbine into NCSoft could be good for the studio. WildStar probably had excess staff left over from launch and development that are no longer needed or who could be used elsewhere in the company. Cost cutting and a relaunch may help WildStar. Many games that were struggling found greater success once they converted from monthly to F2P. LoTR, DDO and STO are all examples that come to mind. But those were all franchises with incredible amounts of existing content to draw from. WildStar is a new universe and is probably fairly costly to develop new material for. I think HoT will do great things for GW2…. I’ve only followed some of the Beta stuff because I want to be surprised and be full of the same wonder I felt when GW2 launched.
Just my thoughts on it.
I’ve yet to have a negative experience with any of the random people I’ve tagged along with or had tag alone with me in the open world. Glad you had a great experience in a dungeon. Was it your first?
The previous system of dailies where we had a wide range of choices that put people all over the map was infinitely better. I usually don’t even bother doing the rather limited choices we have now. I really really don’t understand why they simplified it. I would think giving players wider choices for something like that is more in keeping with the “Play it your way” idea that ArenaNet wanted for the game.
I find this kind of silly. If you block someone you should never see them and they should never see you, at least as far as online status goes. I don’t even know why this is still an issue. Thankfully I don’t have anyone really blocked as I never have map chat on and I’ve managed to only meet and chat with nice people. Sorry you’re having to deal with idiots.
You mammals are all disgusting. We Sylvari are the only true pure beings. We are nature… You are destroyers of it.
<just kidding> <not kidding>Alternativley if you’re running Windows 7 and SMART reporting is turned on in your bios (you’ll have to go into the bios at boot to check this) your OS should warn you if there are disk errors. You can also go into the disk management tools built into windows 7 and see what health is being reported by the OS.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/disk-management-windows-7.htm
And yes, I can confirm that a bad SATA cable or one that has come slightly unseated may cause these errors too. And I think if you’ve managed to fill up your disk space on that drive (GW2 wouldn’t be able to update). So right click on the drive or partition and see how much free space you have left. You may need to do some cleaning. (Changing the size of the trash can on that drive can give you some free space)

Now I feel the need to spend another few maddening hours to complete it without a mesmer’s help. LOL
Which one is Not So Secret?
Aetherblade one.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Not_So_Secret
Yeah, there’s always that, I guess. It did push me over 2000AP.
I just hoped that after all the hours spent on it I would get something a bit more out of it. Some of those puzzles were really hard. I spent three hours on the Not So Secret puzzle yesterday. :o
I was a little disappointed there was no title as well, BUT, since I know how many people hate them and will never do them, I feel good that I was able to do them all.
I admire you if you were able to do the Not So Secret one in only three hours of trying. In total I’ve probably spent 9 hours on it and it is the only jumping puzzle I caved on and used the services of a mesmer that was there. I did most of it without help, but I just couldn’t get the last bit. I did however complete all the other ones (ok, so I didn’t get the bomb all the way to the end of Gryphon Rook Run, but I still got the AP. Just not the loot.).
Congrats on getting them all done though! Did you do the WvW ones as well?
