Thanks a lot for that!
Hi guys
I’ve looked on Google and just can’t get a definitive answer for my Q. This Krytan Region Track, to complete it do you simply do PvP matches? The ‘Krytan’ in the name is throwing me, it makes me think there’s something particular I need to do, like on a particular map or something.
Thanks!
Personally, I hope tags remain in PvE.
When you see a tagged player you know they’re experienced, and know what they’re doing. For players who don’t know events like the back of their hand, tagged players become beacons. Quite often in MMOs, GW2 being no exception, newer players are shunned from certain events creating a rather elitist experience. Tagged players can show newer players what to do, imparting knowledge and help, thus helping newer players become not so new.
I was genuinely surprised at the amount of effort these commanders put in to helping me personally. Tequatl was the first major event I took part in, and I really had no idea what was happening. A commander, in the middle of organising his area, spent several minutes messaging me with help.
I’m currently exploring the map and aiming for 100% completion – I’m blogging about it too, a double whammy of enjoyment for me.
It’s really fun. And my opinion on the megaserver – for exploration at least – is that it’s made exploring a whole lot more fun.
Other than that, WvW and PvP is amazing. I’ve just found bigger games in the PvP browser, with up to 10v10, which is a lot more fun. I go for The Courtyard map, which is just pure killing nothing else, and it’s fantastic.
I never understood why people say WvW isn’t PvP; do you guys know what PvP stands for? It stands for Player versus Player, which is basically when real people fight against each other, as opposed to real people fighting against computer controlled bad guys.
You can PvE in WvW, like, simply walk around gathering, but this isn’t the point of the mode.
I love WvW, and I’ve spent a lot of time playing it. You can run to the blog as somebody suggested above, or you can form your own small gang, or even go solo behind enemy lines. There’s lots to do.
Should PvE elements be added to the mode which can effect the outcome of a battle? My opinion is no, leave it be,
I can vouch for Desolation doing him on a regular basis. I normally jump on the 18:00 and 20:00 times. The only time I’ve seen it fail is in overflow.
And I agree, Tequatl is awesome. For somebody who is new to the game, it’s a good way to make some gold without it feeling repetitive.
So far I’ve spent my karma on mangos and other cooking ingredients lol
I did buy some rings, but I tend to get better gear drops than what I can buy with karma.
I’ll tell you what I do – I don’t make the most but I also don’t spend much time on it either.
I simply do Tequatl when I’m afking, usually when I’m watching TV/movies. I’ll turn the laptop on an hour before it begins to get on the map, and keep my eye on it. Tequatl only lasts for about 15 minutes, and if you get on the main server you’ll likely succeed. Tend to get a 1-2 gold each time I do it, with the odd chance to do more with good drops.
Also, I don’t know whether you enjoy WvW, but I find it a good way to earn gold too.
I’ve been playing for a little over 2 months, and have amassed about 100 gold. I spent about 80 gold converting to gems for a nice skin, and then some decent level 80 gear. It really isn’t difficult earning gold in this game.
I can vouch for leveling via WvW. What an exhilarating way to do it!
Suggestion: grab a friend, preferably someone a little more hardy, and go level up together. He can be your human shield, and you can hurl your magical bolts of destruction on thy enemy.
Hi pal, I’m fairly new to the game and haven’t played on other servers, but Desolation is active – if you’re looking for EU that is.
PvP in the Mists is always busy, and there isn’t usually any wait times. WvW always seems to have something going on, with a commander leading a bunch of brigands to battle.
The server seems generally busy all over, including PvE.
I can certainly advocate the advice on ignoring the XK AP groups – I joined one also not knowing what that message meant, and was greeted with a right load of abuse before being kicked.
I’d recommend joining a guild and doing dungeons with your guildies.
Listen to DreamyAbaddon, he’s a dude to newbies.
I only played Tera briefly (the little kid-like things in short skirts freaked me out), but I also play Rift. GW2 is quite different from these types of MMOs, and as stated you don’t simply pick up quests and move from one to the other.
I’ve been simply exploring the maps, trying to get 100% completion, and finding stuff to do on the way. Gathering, exploring, doing Vistas and those hearts etc, they’re levelling me up pretty quickly.
I also highly recommend looking at the PvP available. It’s really risk free, so you can literally hop in, get your skill bumped up to 80, and you can go wild. I enjoy both the solo PvP arena, and the WorldvWorldvWorld.
This may help you as it helps me; look at the “Daily” achievements, and see what you need to do to get it. They seem to change every day, although some achievements remain constant. completing your Daily and you’re awarded with stuff. This may help.
I’ve resolved the issue now but figured I would report it in case others with a similar issue need help.
I installed GW2 on my PC straight from the Heroic issue DVD. After installing it downloaded an update, job done. The game would regularly crash on my PC, and send an error report off. It happened quite frequently, perhaps every 10-20 minutes, and seemed to get worse in Lions Arch around heavily populated areas.
I installed the game on my laptop as a straight download; no DVD included. The game ran fine on my laptop, no crashes whatsoever.
I decided to uninstall GW2 from my PC, and reinstall as a straight download, no DVD involved. Since this the game has ran perfectly, with no crashes whatsoever.
I’ve only been playing for about a day and I’ve almost hit 1 gold I started at the weekend too, which is my quietest time in game as I spend time with my son. I’m off work this week so I expect to smash GW2 like a tramp on a bag of chips.
For those who are new and don’t have much gold; it’s like this in most MMOs I’ve played, so don’t worry. As you progress the gold will roll in. I also play Rift and my mind boggled at seeing items sell for hundreds, sometimes thousands, of Platinum, with quests only cashing in for a few silver. After a while though money is just thrown at you, and with some careful market trading you’ll be up there in no time.
