I have seen several places (though not officially? maybe i’m missing it)
that when you buy a gw2 expansion you get access to “all content”

does that mean that if i buy HoT i will get access to FUTURE expansions? or just previous ones.

if it’s just previous expansions / the core game that is the worst model… it’s like a microtransaction for a phone game, if you want it now pay up, if you can wait you’ll always get a better value. how silly.

i’d like to point out that religion and homosexuality are not opposites, there is a great documentary about it!

one of my ex girlfriends was christian and we were still very much lesbians.
i am not religious, but that doesn’t mean the discussion has to shift to hatred for religious peoples.

just because a community houses many homophobic people does not mean the whole community feels that way. and most of the phrases in the bible that directly point out that homosexuality is bad are either mistranslations or written by this one guy whose verses are all equally ridiculous and nonsensical. they feature a few lgbt characters out of their hundreds. they made one tweet. that is not being socially aggressive, and only slightly progressive! it’s a great thing, believe me!! but it isn’t ‘fighting’, it’s /representing/.

Nah I don’t mind if any company out there wants to actually represent themselves to stand with certain groups and their stance. Im not about arenanet tweet, but it really gathers some heavy responses from both sides who supports and not.

Why do they have to be so obnoxious? Why these people are like this? If you keep doing this, we are going to annoyed by this behaviour. And I UNDERSTAND, not all the LGBT people who do this, but why I’m seeing this a lot?

hm, it’s hard to really explain that. i get like that sometimes, i think we all do when we defend something we are passionate about. especially if the topic has something to do with our identities as human beings!

i think you see that behaviour a lot because people get stepped on a LOT in the lgbtq community. it’s not the right answer to reply with sass, but a lot of people use it as a poor defense mechanism i think rather than feel bad about themselves because someone tells them they are inherently wrong because they exist.

i hope that makes sense and didn’t come across as rude, i’m tryin’ to be as civil as possible especially after i made that hasty comment an hour ago. (that was me being defensive as well.)

Anet is singling out a portion of it’s gamers to represent…. Favoritism…. I am not saying they don’t have the right to do it, but it is very divisive.

i don’t think its too unusual to make a comment that at least over half the gaming community will align with! not to mention all of the wonderful and supportive allies who play games as well.

the most important part of what i was trying to point out is the fact that i put lifestyle in quotes.

i am sorry i said weed out, that was not the language i should have used. you are right! i hope this explanation makes more sense as to what i am trying to say:

why disagree with who i want to love, who i want to cherish, who i want to do sweet things for every day when it has nothing to do with you. i do not want to be in the same environment with someone who feels the need to disagree with who i love.

i find no problems with that. i find no problems with this one twitter post making people leave the game if that is what they wish to do.

if they are so appalled by seeing two people of the same gender love each other that they quit their game, i do not want to think about interacting with them.

the world is changing, the world is starting to accept people for whom they love, for what they look like… it’s still a long ways away, but i fail to see how that could possibly be a bad thing. for everyone to feel loved, represented.

what i meant by ‘shoving in face’ was that in a situation like this, when one tweet is made… cool. its one tweet. how many movies do you think premiered this last year about gay couples? what about straight couples? see the difference. my point is just that nobody is “shoving” anything in anyones face. people are excited to see themselves! excited to be recognized as more than a sweaty fanfiction of naruto characters. people are excited that they feel REAL.

for continuing to make me feel like a human who matters regardless of my orientation!!

It is not frustrating, it is inconvenient at best.
I also have a job (writing this from the office :P ), I leave home 7:50 am and get back 7:30 pm, anyway … I’m 100% sure that the auto build didn’t break your character so badly that you are not able to play it anymore, also if the build was perfect you would still level your character anyway, right? So what is the big problem anyway?

i have read the explanation. i am glad for you! i’m glad you have a job that you can check the gw2 forums from that’s really cool. i wish i had a job like that, sounds nice…

however, i disagree. first of all this is a subjective matter. i may be frustrated by something you are ‘inconvenienced’ with. that is ok. we are allowed to have differing opinions! however there is no reason to invalidate someone’s frustration with a poor mechanic by telling them it is objectively inconvenient! we are just speaking up about our minor frustration with the autobuild system. no one is threatening to break down the anet doors and take hostage!

it is healthy for the community to have discussions like this. it is healthy for the devs to see how we react to new features.

if the build was perfect, it’d be fine! i’d have fun playing my character the way that i built her. however, that is not the case! i remade a couple of my characters and had much more fun recreating them the way they were intended! this was fun, yes this game is SUPER FUN! and i love it. this doesn’t change that.

however, in my minimal free time i’d have had MORE fun, 20% less stress, and no need to type out this giant garble nobodys probably gonna read if this didn’t happen!

so i think it’s fine to express that here, in an open discussion on the game forums.
i hope that wasn’t super boring or rude or anything!

aftermarket prices shouldn’t be forced to inflate in any virtual econ !!

all of my issues with it are in the autobuild feature

the system itself is SWEET. it feels like more freedom to me, ironically haha.

Get a couple levels and do a few hero challenge and then unlock everything, I’m sure you don’t even need to be at level 80 to unlock 100% of the skills and traits, this “problem” is temporary and can be solved in a few hours of gameplay.

are you level 80? if so you should have access to all of them. it’s an ‘overwrite’ system rather than a ‘start over’ system.

I’m seeing that, and it’s kinda sad. I believe they said that the autobuild was supposed to be similar to what a character was running before, so I’m curious as to what some people had prior that ended up with terrible builds. And what the autobuild code took into consideration when making selections.

hmm, yea i wonder how the autobuildin decided. i think it had something to do with the traits you had assigned at the time, as well as your equipment.

I haven’t checked all my sub-80 toons yet, but the autobuild worked fine for my level 36 ele. She got given fire spec, and all the skills she was previously using were trained as well.

While it is unfortunate that it didn’t work out so well for others, the complaints about having to “grind” hero points are a bit too dramatic given you can get them just by logging in (tome of knowledge login rewards) if you truly believe the autobuild has made your character unplayable.

luckily in gw2, nothing is 100% unplayable, and you’re right you can indeed undo it.

however, it isn’t really fun to play on a character you don’t want to play! for however long. i don’t think it’s dramatic to say it’s at least a minor frustration.

i am honestly confused about the gw2 community jumping to the ‘dramarama!!!’ conclusion when people express their frustration! like i said before critique is extremely important for all types of media, mmos in particular. it’s extremely necessary for the community to speak up when something bothers them.

the overall changes that anet are working on are huge. your complaint is a small by-product, that is nothing more than a slight inconvenience.

the short answer to your problem is simply kitten n play. try it. maybe you’ll turn out to be a better player for this.

I am frustrated as well. The excuse seems to be that it doesn’t matter to level 80’s or to brand new players and that it’s a lot of work to fix. That is fine but I have a level 30 that it does matter to and that I now have to do a lot of work to fix. 60 hero points = eight or nine zones.

i am extremely frustrated about the attitude you have about players wanting to not get auto built. just because its “more than twice the work” is not really an excuse for making my characer extremely undesirable for me to play until i fix it. let alone the multiple lowbies i have. i feel that you should at least acknowledge the error in design and give players a refund item that refunds the traits. NONE of my four characters that were autobuilt have the spec/s i would want for them.

But if your already playing anyways, you earn though points back quick enough. leveling not hard and skill challages for places in the game, i am surprise that you have no points to put where you want, but maybe you got really unlucky, but it hard to say, since I am not you, I am just saying, it wont take long to fix also.

it won’t take terribly long to fix, however it was also very unnecessary. there should have been at least an option to not autobuild. it just feels demoralizing to have to play to GET the specs you want rather than logging in and having them be available to you at your level!!

i have four characters that are currently under 80, and believe me it seems like kind of an undertaking to fix em all.

Then yes, that sucks, but it barely will slow you down, to play a little to earn a few more levels and skill challages to earn what you want though.

somehow i have a feeling you were unaffected? it is sort of a ‘minor bump’ along the road, but if you had multiple characters under level 80 it hurts pretty bad to have to like… play to FIX your character if that makes sense? like you’re also leveling and explorin at the same time, but it just feels like a kick to the gut that wasn’t really necessary .

i like the new system, however it’s overshadowed by the fact that they autobuilt 50% of my characters into total nightmares when they coulda just given us a blank slate.

I came home to play guild wars only to open it and be really disappointed.

The auto-builds they give you feel almost entirely at random and being unable to reset them makes me not even want to play anymore. They ruined all of what I was trying to do with all of my characters JUST because I hadn’t reached max level?

this is making the game literally unplayable as i can not create new characters because i can’t finish the opening quests.

please help. it’s still happening. i tested it on two different networks.

i can’t complete any story quests on any of my characters. the rest of the game works fine, but it continually disconnects at various points throughout the cutscenes or fights of the story quests. i know that it’s not my internet, it works smoothly for other things. this makes the game way less COOL come on guys fix thisssss it’s been about a year people have been having problems with it!
