High Ping problem

I’m under the suspicion that there’s more to the problem in their Frankfurt data centre than they’re letting on. Because when I run a traceroute that is the culprit in my connectivity issues.

Lag Spikes / Increased Ping After the Patch

Glad to see it’s not just me. Running Pingplotter while playing, the issue seems to be with that Frankfurt data centre that had problems a week ago.

I wish their error messages were a little more honest too.

Nothing is trivial when it comes to spawn code.

I nailed down what was causing this, it wasn’t just something with this specific spawn. The problem was related to the cage that the spawn goes in. There was a problem with the way we enable/disable the collision for the cage when the dude would get released at the end of the event. Ultimately this was preventing the area inside the cage from being ‘spawn-able’.

I’m sure this same bug was causing all sorts of other random failures across the game.

Anyways, the fix is slated for our next build unless we identify any issues with the fix between now and then and have to yank it out. I’m making zero promises here.

Well that told me. Sorry and thanks for looking into it.

Does anyone have a character (main, alt, whatever) inside the premises I can portal to, give me a message in game. (EU)

Won’t work if the collection you’re going for requires the event chest from the boss.

Does it really take 7 days to fix such a trivial bug?

Fan of Fire and longbow autoattack recharge your adrenaline as long as you’re hitting something with them. Autoattack charges it faster because the cast time of weapon skills is longer, so you want to be autoattacking as much as possible.

The initial burst can be followed up by autoattacks and Fan of Fire on cooldown. I also use longbow 5 then 3 on different SE charges (SE → LB 5 → SE when charged → LB 3) and just autoattack in between.

Throughout one whole Berserk rotation you should only use LB 3 and 5 once. Other than that, I’m not sure unless I saw a video of you doing your thing.

Legendary Armor and WvW [Merged]

Suppose they wanted to allow you to earn legendary armour in WvW.

Do they put it behind reward tracks? Then it’s just a test of time. Play WvW long enough, get legendary armour.

Do they make it require badges of honour? Then it will go those with the most kills – those that blob up and press 1. Run with the zerg, get legendary armour.

Do they tie it to server victory? PPT hard enough / stack server coverage well enough – get legendary armour?

I can see arguments for all of these options, or some combination of them, but none of them are very appealing. They reward the worst parts of WvW and are not skill-based.

what?
does pve raid involve any skill ?
Ok

Yes. A bad group is going to struggle, a lot. Skill definitely shows; not everyone can tank, heal, or DPS as effectively as others.

WvW progress can be made by blobbing and pressing 1. You won’t make any progress in raids if you did that.

Elite for Condi Ele

I want one, too. Rebound is boring and doesn’t help me roaming-wise when I can kill the majority of players without losing much health.

Give us a nice signet elite skill that works hand in hand with Written in Stone, and bring back Fire’s Embrace while you’re at it.

We don’t want some boring one either like Signet of Water or Air, but something along the lines of Plague Signet where we can send conditions back to our foes. Mesmers can do it. Necromancers can do it. Why can’t Elementalists? (funny how mesmers have a skill that can do it called Arcane Thievery and eles have a whole trait-line based on Arcane yet still can’t do it)

A mesmer would never take Arcane Thievery in high level PvE content. Compared to Necros, AT is a single target spread with a higher cooldown and limited to three conditions. It’s contingent on you taking condition damage solely to send it back to the target, whereas Necros are able to create high stacks of conditions on themselves, and claim conditions from allies, before sending them to the target, and then spreading them to all nearby enemies.

Necro does this far more efficiently than a mesmer and is perhaps the only class that can reliably transfer conditions. AT in comparison is just lacklustre and useless and is no substitute for Well of Recall.

Elementalists are built around burst damage with a few niche roles in healing. It seems you want Eles to be a jack of all trades, master of none class, when there are other classes primarily designed for condition damage. My question is why do you refuse to use the superior power builds available to you?

Connection error 7:11:3:191:101 [merged]

Okay, I may have alleviated some of my symptoms, though one of the NCSoft servers still seems suspicious.

I advice everyone with this error code (7:11:3:191:101), to download Pingplotter and check their connection with that.

Pretty simple to use: In Guild Wars itself, type /ip into chat, then type the IP it gives you into the “Enter target name or IP” bar in Pingplotter, and hit Enter. You’ll get a list of nodes that your connection “hops” across, starting with your home router at #1, then your IP address, your service provider’s network (which can be several nodes), then ANet’s and, finally, NCSoft’s.

If any of the red circles in the “latency” graph, to the right, are in the red, that’s where your problem is. Also, PL% is packet loss, or how much data isn’t reaching that particular node (resulting in lag and connectivity issues). If this is occurring at your router, node 1, then you need to open ports 80, 443 and 6112 in your router settings.

How to open ports. - Provides a list of routers for direct instructions.

What you want to do when you create port forwarding rules, is use the IP address assigned to your router. It might not be the same one you logged into your router with if your network settings specify a different address. To find it, open a command prompt, type “ipconfig /all”, without the parentheses, and look for IPv4 Address. That’s the one you want to use.

Been monitoring it through peak time for two hours now and no lag spikes, so it seems to have fixed my problems. I’m posting this in case it helps any one else. Might not, but worth a try.

Unplayable lag and a really weird fix

how can i find which one does this kitten to me?

By removing variables. For software, try a different computer, a clean install of Windows or a msconfig minimal boot (least effective). For hardware, try a direct connection to the internet or temporarily DMZ your computer. Everything else would fall outside of your control.

Pretty drastic methods for what is a server-side issue. Even then, why would you re-install Windows for issues that can be fixed in a few minutes? Even if you just run chkdsk, clear the local cache, and repair the game client. Check firewall settings, forward ports in router, and if the problem persists then download Pingplotter to see what the issue is.

I did all this and the issue is with NCSoft a few hops down the line. I made sure it was just GW2 by playing other MMOs and pinging various public domains that get a lot of traffic, like Google and Facebook. Problem only exists in GW2 so it’s nothing you can fix.

Just going to have to wait until NCSoft sort it out.

Did a tracert on my connection, since I’m also having this issue for the last few days. I’ve done everything I possibly can on my end, from ensuring ports are forwarded, firewall is generous with GW2, cleared the local cache, repaired the client, even defragged the GW2 system folder as a last resort.

Every connection node is fine until the 6th or 7th hop, which occurs late down the order of network connections, which means this is an issue ANet can’t resolve by themselves. It’s an issue with a tier 1 network that ANet connects with.

EDIT: Okay, further investigating, it turns out my problem is with a range of addresses my ISP owns. So only advice I can give people is to check with your service provider.

You know what, I don’t even know what day of the week it is so it’s entirely possible I salvaged a skinned backpiece. Been ages since I made FR I can’t even remember. Thanks. Glad to know it is 100% drop though.

Realised I needed to salvage the backpiece in order to get Upper Bound, only when I tried salvaging I received no Spirit of Finite Result. Just a measly 9 +1 infusions, a +5 and 500 Unbound Magic.

Is that supposed to happen? Did they lower the drop rate? Feel cheated out of all the effort needed to go into it and have to pay more than 30g just to craft what I’d already crafted (on top of everything else I still need to do).
