By Ogdens hammer what savings!
Cons
o Waaaaay to much color saturation – is this a new art direction?
o Lost Raptor logging out while dismounted with no way to get it back – Turned in bug rpt
o seems a little buggy
o Needs a “copy” option to create demo toon from one of your existing toons
Pros
o nice layout
o seems like a lot of fun stuff to do
o It’s huge
o new monsters are a good challenge
o like the bounty concept but it’d be nice to be able to solo them
Overall I like it so far. Worth the thirty bucks I spent on pre-order
(edited by MFoy.3284)
Well, while I’d love a “Stow Mount” function I’m thinking something will be like that in the game. Not a deal breaker.
Also, remember we got several additional maps via Living Story that are part of the HoT expansion. They did a lot to take the sting outta HoT which I hated. At least that’s the way I see it.
As to rather HoT and/or PoF is a true expansion or not is a kinda silly waste o time argument that says more about the forums than the game.
As for myself, for thirty bucks I’m willing to trust Mo and the team to do us right. Pre-Ordered it already.
Guild Wars 2: Not %$#^&ing Cantha
Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt
Yes, your example demonstrates what I’m having a problem with. We are seeing the same thing. I’m willing to admit it’s kinda subjective in nature. However, when I’m used to seeing something like this everywhere else in the game I thought it had to be a bug of some sort. My error apparently.
I find Draconis Mons unlikable to the point I’ll not be spending time there. Here’s hoping we can see a return to more the more pleasing visuals in the future.
“compared to other maps, this map uses some more extreme color grading settings.” So, uh… you’re saying it’s a feature not a bug?
From a customer standpoint it’s almost unplayable. I find this to be a very disturbing response in light of future maps and of course the XPac.
I keep looking to see if this problem has been addressed in this series of patches and … nope. Draconis Mons is still looking bad (see above example). Let me add: Draconis Mons is the only map I’m seeing the problem on. This leads me to believe it’s the map not my GTX 760.
I’m concerned this will effect all future maps including the expansion.
Here’s an example of the game as I see in all the other maps along with my settings
Uh… well after 4+ years and 2,814 postings from players asking for Cantha back in the game Anet has decided to… Bring back Elona!
Next thing you know they’ll use a Trenchcoat for our medium Legendary Armor. Oh, wait…
Uh some advice please: Running a GTX 760 with 381.65 drivers. Is this honestly what the new map is suppose to look like? None of the other maps look like this. Is this the Shadow Bug or a different one?
Episode 5 feedback -
Pros
o at least it’s something new finally
Cons
o Color is way over saturated and blocky – worst map ever
o Hate running dodging and stealthing to get to a POI only to find it’s on another level
o Story final battle was kinda tedious not fun… again.
o Oakhearts Reach looks fun except I’d need 13 mastery points and I’ve only got five
o Not enough waypoints; Lava Tubes seem designed to take you off course
o Out of about a dozen friends logged on not one is playing the map
So on a scale of one to ten I’d give it a C-

I’m with Flesh Wound. It’s pretty disgusting as it is. Very uncool joke.
Topics like this always make me think “Well, they could always hire someone to play the game for them…”
Basing the last battle on Death Spamming just gave me a headache… I’d figured out the gimmick to remove the break bar and got him down to 30% health when a Vet Jade shows up. Next time I died I bailed on it. Sheesh.
Anet, please be aware when it stops being fun… I stop doing it out of protest and tell the other players to do the same. End boss battles seem to have this problem most often.
Just so you’re aware, they fixed some of the problems with the final boss encounter. You now have more time to dispel his attack, his knockbacks are less frequent, and the jade bow no longer spawns (been replaced with a carnival npc).
Yup, thank you Rose I knew they already had to “fix” this one and I played it after that. I was into it for about an hour, had used 3 or 4 repair kits, I got him down to 30% and a Vet. Jade Armor shows up. Within seconds of entering the room I immediately went into a downed state. Oddly, I didn’t see the fun in that after 4 or 5 tries.

Risen Chicken: So tender the meat just falls off the bone
I’m very pleasantry surprised and pleased to see this addressed in such a timely professional manner. Looks like we have a Fun Team on the job now.
Absolutely brilliant solution. Much applause to you and your gang
Thank you very much Mike.
Ya know… I’m impressed. Ember Bay is a great place to just run around in as you slowly figure out what you’re actually doing might be more than just heart quests. The achievements are … achievable as a solo player.
Yes, it kinda has the feel of a GW1 and GW2 mashup but mostly ‘cuz it’s the same kinda fun so far
Mad Props as always to the Art Dept.
Agreed. It’s the humans that kill ya…
However, with the use of bots one could create a Test Harness that would run prior to dropping the patch and just after. I’d form the bots into groups that say run 10000’s of TP transactions, Gather, Craft, Run Events, etc. Then continue to refine the bots after humans find new ways to break the code. Of course, you’d build a bot maker to add new units as needed. In time, you’d have a legion of bots that’d run for say an hour and I suspect uncover a significant percent of problems before the humans found them.
Of course, it has the added advantage of being low cost and under in-house control.
Or you could just let us keep on being the Test Harness…
Having some major experience with this kinda stuff I’d have to give Anet high marks for handling it with highly professional chops. Also, I’d give special shout out to the dozens of support folks who had to work the problem. Much applause to you all!
To the players who are QQing like a big dog… let’s put this into perspective
And saying “We/I did this to get your (company’s) attention” is reprehensible. Hurting a person to send a message is inhumane and wrong.
Couldn’t agree more Gaile. Blaming the victim is a sad and all to common response in our society. Let’s all take a step back and let Anet deal with it without the witch hunt.
I’m not above saying Please…
Call me when a Cantha true expansion drops.
’Till then… We out. <drops mike>

OK, after playing with “Right-Click to Attack/Interact” disabled for a few days I’ve noticed it’s a lot better than it was. Thanks Khisanth big time!
I’ll add that based on my studying this that it’s really really touchy about whats in the Center of your FoV. If you turn to glance at something else you’ll re target like a Big Dog.
Do you have have “Right-Click to Attack/Interact” disabled?
Nope, just checked and it was enabled. Disabled it.
Thanks for the tip! Hope it helps
Yes, this has been happening to me as well. It’s definitely gone way way up since the last patch. For example, I’m targeting on a Champ Spider at Mel in the last stage… then without any movement it jumps to a random Veteran Spider Hatching. Then I have to tab several times to get back to the Champ Spider.
Could someone from Anet please acknowledge that this is a known issue?
Best of Luck to all of us…
(Knocks on Wood)
Thanks big time for the reply John. Yeah, I guess I could see that as a reason and I got what I wanted out of the thread: To be heard.
Other workarounds include:
o Take the gold you’ve already traded for and it resets the timer for a bit
o Sort your bags so you can sell off the good stuff first – Click on loot bag (left side @ TP) and click twice on price column to sort
o Close and reopen the TP window – Again you’ll get a short reset
I think the reason this is been happening to me more lately is the rise in medium armor prices due to the leather prices. Being a bird in the hand kinda guy I always go for the sale over salvage.
Thank you again, very kind of you
(edited by MFoy.3284)
Let me put this problem into a little more context. Specifically:
o I’m talking about emptying out two 20 slot backpacks with 36 available slots (See attached)
o I’m seeing this annoying message 4 – 5 times when I empty out
o As a human I doubt I can “Click too fast…” compared to ’Bot traders
o I’m seeing it rather I use the TP directly or call it up while playing
o I think this error message is set on a hair trigger with much too low a threshold
o Yes, I know I can salvage gear but choose not to
o I appreciate the guesses as to why this is even in the game but… they’re just guesses until Anet responds
As I said before the net effect is to create another PlayWall to my having fun in the game. I submit that is not “Working as intended.”
(edited by MFoy.3284)
Look, I’m not a ‘Bot or a TP Baron, etc. I’m just a player who wants to empty my loot and get back to having a good time in the game.. However, I keep getting this stoopid message about placing “Too many Sell Orders…” (See attached)
I know it’s been in the game for awhile. I’ve tried living with it, found workarounds, etc. But who ever thought this was a good idea is waaaay off the mark. I encounter it several times just trying to dump my stuff from two loot bags. Very poor design. Again.
I’d like to hear from Anet regarding what problem this is supposed to solve ‘cuz as it stands it’s just another wall in the game to prevent fun.
Regarding HoT:
Best
Gliding is way fun. It should be implemented across game maps. I don’t want to hear how hard this is. If it was easy we’d ask the janitor to do it.
Worst
The Meta. I find the constant lock step in serving the mighty Meta to be totally immersion breaking. From map wide announcements to timed events it turns the game into a project management job. I play to get away from project management.
Masteries. They start kinda fun then become a total mystery grind. Right now I’m putting exp into stuff I don’t know if I even care about it. Adding in mastery points to further wall off content, etc is obviously to soak up players time.
Adventures. There is nothing adventuresome about a bunch on low grade mini-games. My expectation was for a random quest/dungeon generator that would provide us with unlimited adventures and fun.
Flashing Yellow Bar. God I hate that thing. Especially when I’m in Cursed Shore and I don’t care about them enough to go get the points to make it stop. It’s turned into the Guild Wars version of Clippy.
In all, the whole HoT release has been a wet firecracker for me. Not at all what I was expecting. To make matters worse it gets boring really really fast. What happened to the fun factor?
(edited by MFoy.3284)
I was also shocked and very disappointed with these “Adventures.” By calling them “Adventures” I had foolishly thought they’d be something along random quests or procedurally generated dungeons not these kitten mini games.
Once again, allowing Marketing manage our expectations has turned something many of us were looking forward to into a total clusterkitten. If you knew they were just a bunch of mini games why didn’t you just say so?
Once again, I feel bad for the Devs who received bad design direction rather than praise earned for their hard work.
As for me… I feel cheated. Again.
Remember… Cantha by Christmas!
What I don’t get is ArenaNet has a no-brainer with both Cantha and Elona as evidenced by the size and duration of this and other threads. Yet, resources are devoted to ShovelWare like this current Mordrem “Event.”
Whoever is making these awful decisions needs to learn to read the handwriting on the wall.
Maybe we should all chip in and buy them a pair of glasses.
Events should be fun.
All of these suggestions are great and I’d agree that if even half of them were implemented it would have been a huge improvement over the ShovelWare we got.
Somebody at ArenaNet needs to take a good hard look at the big picture and ask “Is this gonna be fun?”
The sad thing is: I’ll bet everybody on this project did exactly what was asked of them.
(edited by MFoy.3284)
Way way too much “go-here-do-that-then-maybe-this-too” stuff. That just kills it for me. I don’t care about Mordrem or their kitten “Blooms.” Then, I gotta pay to get the real drops?!?
No thanks.
What’s really killing me is all the time wasted to come up with new game mechanics when you coulda shoulda released an updated Cantha and made a lot of us happy.
Thanks a lot.
Way way too much “go-here-do-that-then-maybe-this-too” stuff. Even setting aside the lack of drops all the running around is non-sense and really breaks the immersion of playing. That’s why I’ve got 113 Bandit Skeleton Keys with no real desire to even visit SilverWastes. An old fashioned Dungeon Crawl or defending an area within a zone would be a lot better.
Gotta be honest here: I thought it was gonna be more fun…
I’ve been playing it and having a lot of fun! So far, it feels like lots of new stuff to see and do.
The best advice I give new players is: “Just play the game and have fun.”
Honestly, every problem you’ll encounter will be solved. From Loot to Vistas to Builds…
No need to hurry through it. Just play the game and have fun.
Now now…Let’s not Bicker and Argue over who killed who… This is a Happy Occasion!
As a vet who paid full price for both the base game and pre ordered HoT I gotta say this isn’t hurting me at all much less being a Slap in the Face. In fact, it sounds like a smart, well considered move in the long term.
MO asked us to help the new players. Sure! Not a problem MO.
@Drow – Your account isn’t on your phone. Your phone is just a receiver for a One Time code text message. Let’s see… what is on there? Geez, it’s not even from a phone number. Sender looks like XXX-XXX. Dang, I wanted to call MO and say hi.
The message says “Your ArenaNet code is: XXXXXXX.” and that’s it. No ties to GW2 accounts or even a game for that matter. If someone did try to access my account from another IP address it will send a new One Time code to my phone. Making the bad guys go “Curses… Foiled again!” and Not get account access.
I hope that helps. It really is very clever…

Instant Classic
I voluntarily took the plunge a couple of days ago and… Works Great! Set up is super simple: Select “My Account” from the Forum page, type in phone number and the next time you log in to GW2 you get a pass code text message sent to your phone. Type that in next time you log on and you’re done. To be clear: This is a one time deal unless you change IP’s.
Absolutely brilliant. Much applause to all!
MO have one on me.
NO CAPES! Do you remember Thunderhead? Nice man… good with children…
As someone who mains a Ranger I just gotta say all three skills are great just the way they are. It’s learning how to make use of all three skills together that seems to throw players off.
Oh, and I have Auto Attack enabled and use skill #2 as my Dodge. As others have already said it takes a little practice to get into the groove but at this point I’d be a little annoyed if they did change anything.
After a little learning curve it works better than “as intended.” The three skills work really really well together.

Frankly, it always makes me happy to see this kind of inclusion in The Game. It’s great that Arena Net chooses to demonstrate repeatedly that Tyria is a big place with room for everyone.
Everyone.
Hey Jon! As a Lvl 80 PvE Longbow Ranger I think it’s not as bad like some have told you. I use Sword/Torch in slot 2 and switch as I need to. Yeah, some stuff I use was nerfed and some buffed. Net effect: I didn’t feel hammered into the ground and I now have a couple of builds that are fun to play. Well done!
I thought you folks did a super job on changing scaling when I visit a low level area. I feel more continuity moving from area to area when running solo.
Take your time. Like you said little tweaks are called for. Oh and for the record I’m another player that would rather see you folks buff the monsters than hammer the players.
HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

Okay, Okay lets all just take a deep breath and step back from the ledge for a minute. Yes, I pre-ordered Guild Wars 2 for 60 bucks when it first came out. I’ve gotten over 4,300 hours of fun out of it. I also pre-ordered HoT at 50 bucks.
I got full value for the original game and I’m will to bet 50 bucks that Arena Net will follow through this time as well.
And I did get a new slot… It’s called Beta. That might end up having, as yet, undisclosed value in the future…
Let me include a graphic that should help give the whole rant kill-eat-dead-burnt-bodies folks a context to consider:

But we wants it. We wants the preciousss…
I’ve seen it happen once and a while. I’m pretty sure it’s not a bug, it’s database query lag. Think about it… The game has to query up all the nodes in your area, then query what ones you’ve already harvested to know whats available… Then sub-set that into the mini-map view. I’m sure that’s a very simple view of the overhead involved but I’ll bet something like that is what’s going on.
Considering how many DB hits they have to make for each player I’m surprised that it works at all.
Ya know… I could maybe go for a Black Tee with the Guild Wars 2 logo too. Great idea OP… Gold star and extra points.
…and Lucente – Love the kitty
