They made the map alot larger..I always thought they were gonna run out of space come the 3/4th expansions then I remembered they can just….add more map lol.
Also there is a strange new waypoint in LA that gives you 4 green chests that you can’t open……not sure if this is a bug or not. Anyone know what this is????
Honestly GW2 is not THAT unstructured :p nonetheless….He is just like how I used to be. I used to NEED structure and hand holding in games otherwise I would quickly lose interest or think myself to death, thinking everything I do was the wrong move. But then I played Black Desert Online…..Yeah, if you think this game lacks structure, it doesn’t hold a candle to BDO.
As GW2 is a very simple sandbox mmo designed to appeal to as many people as possible, BDO is an extraordinarily complex sandbox mmo designed to appeal to a smaller niche. So yeah….That game was literally 25 times more confusing and frustrating, at least at first.
Out of frustration I began to wonder WHY I needed structure in games, what was the core reason. And the conclusion I personally came to was that I have been conditioned to “follow the quest arrow” over a decade of playing awful, easy, and braindead mmos/rpgs. Just think about it, games hold your hand and tell you exactly what to do so much nowadays it’s not even funny, its like developers assume you are actually 4 years old and they make the game basically play itself.
Ever since I made this revelation last year, I made it my goal to get good at navigating and enjoying unstructured/sandbox games. I have been actively trying to de-condition myself from following quest arrows like a drone, depending on the game to tell me exactly how I should play, and gain some freewill/authority back. I wanted to learn how to function and think for myself in an open world game for once.
After over a year of retraining myself, I have been having more fun than ever before in games that lack structure. Even though I still overall enjoy (and probably still prefer) GOOD games with structure. I have a new found appreciation for unstructured/sandbox games like Gw2, Bdo, and Warframe. However, I see hand-holdy games in a totally different light. I don’t think I can go back to themepark mmos like Tera, or modern console RPGs like Mass Effect/FFXIII, because Jesus Christ do these games drag you by the collar.
I’m not playing a condi spec. Ever.
Condi is the most boring kitten ever in this game, I literally hate every condi build I tried and they are always like 7 times more expensive to gear. Plus isn’t condi getting nerfed anyways?? Why would I play into a meta that they are already trying to nerf to the ground. Scepter is boring, Staff is literally kinda trash, and you are the second slowest class in the game.
I hate how some weapons are power and some are condi because sometimes I really just like the aesthetic. I would love to use torch on necro but too bad it’s condi and locked into scourge. Thank god GS is power otherwise I would have never played this boring class If gravedigger/AA animation was a little bit faster it would be perfect.
Guess I will be maiming another class for PoF because I am not playing a condi/support spec. The same situation with Revenant. I love power rev but they getting a condi spec too, which I understand they need a range conid option, but I wouldn’t be caught dead playing it. Power is more fun and engaging in PvE, WvW, and PvP.

Just because you die to something, doesn’t mean its OP. You WILL occasionally die to every build in this game, ever. Sometimes your fate is sealed, sometimes you get outplayed, sometimes it really is just BS. Accept it. You are not supposed to literally beat every class 100% of the time, that is just a probabilistic impossibility. People need to learn to take losses and not cry for nerfs every time you actually die to class you don’t like or THINK is easy, therefore they deserve to be trash tier.
Now understand what Hammer actually does in wvw. It’s simple. Hammer rev is a ZERG spec, it is SUPPOSED to shine in the fog of chaos and madness. This weapon is meant to help shred apart poor zerg groups through sheer, but consistent spike damage. It is ranged weapon with VERY slow, and VERY telegraphed animations, and to make up for this, it has a long range with high potential damage that cannot be as easily mitigated. In a game where literally everyone is spamming all sorts of mitigation and reflects, it is critical that at least one class has access to simple, but heavy POWER aoe that cannot be easily mitigated to help break stalemates and attrition. Having a couple dedicated backline hammer revs in your party will put a signifigant toll on enemy zergs.
If your front line if full of zerkerlords (not surprised if it is bc all people do is spam glass builds anyway) Then a couple of power revs will quickly shatter your formation. I cannot tell you how many times I walked onto the battlefield and single handedly changed the flow of the battle into our favor because the enemy zerg either lost the plot or had no little sustain or tanks to counter my additional damage.
The only thing I really agree with is making CoR a priority to render in because it is a frequent/high damage source that cannot be easily mitigated, its probably something people should see. But anything else? No, are you kidding me?? Revenant has already been nerfed to the ground so hard its not even funny. Hammer has ALREADY been nerfed and people STILL want more nerfs, because god forbid you die from an already slow, clunky, ranged weapon in this game. Unbelievable.
If you die from a hammer rev in 1v1…..just git gud. Seriously. This should rarely happen….because no one plays rev to roam/1v1 with hammer to begin with, this is not what this weapon is for.
1) to roflsmash peoples faces with hammer from 3 miles away in wvw.
2) you didn’t want to be literally the slowest class in the game (guardian)
3)you wanted to use a hammer that actually had cool animations.
other than that, nothing. The class has poor build diversity, poor weapon diversity, no utility diversity, meh damage, almost literally no condi cleanse, the worse shield, no aegis, an annoying energy mechanic, and 1 playstyle: Herald.
I would just lay guardian if they weren’t so kittening slow. Their new elite looks way cooler than shooting arrows into a portal and summoning more AI drones. If I wanted to summon stupid AI drones yo fight for me I would just play necro or ranger but even those classes are trying to move away from that gimmicky bs.
Il take anything that lets me stop playing kittening glint.
I appreciate the new hair and faces, but thats a lot of dreadlocks tho…….like, a LOT.
Honestly, unless they remove about 50-75% of the waypoints in this game, I can’t take mounts seriously. Why would you EVER need them besides to get pass some cheesy mechanic that will be in the new zones? (Hint: you won’t)
Will HoT be available to free players after new expansion?
Stop using toughness. If you must have it then the sweet spot is around 1200-1500 (depending on how much damage u are willing to sacrifice). Any more than that and you may as well be a kittening walking christmas tree for the mobs, and you will likely start doing noticeably less damage.
Its stupid I know. You want more tanky gear for your glassy character, so you get toughness. Makes sense right? But the more armor you have, the more aggro you draw. thus causing you get kittened by mobs 24/7, which may ironically result in you dying more often. Mobs will not aggro the person with the most armor, until he dies.
So because of this, literally no one runs toughness builds unless raiding or WvW.
You want the least amount of armor as possible to draw the least amount of attention, so mobs/bosses will hopefully never aggro you.
Logic.
Anyways….
I personally use some toughness for my Revenant build. The armor compliments the crazy sustain glint+jalis has, which helps me solo, survive, or tank small scale group events that I don’t mind tanking for randoms. In larger scale events with a lot of players, there are usually mulitple people with far more armor than me so I never draw aggro. I also use it for WvW as well. Toughness has plenty of usefulness.
And I just generally don’t like squishy characters. Many people run pure zerk gear becaus…“meta”…which results in many of these people hugging the ground if they happen to catch a stray fireball. You are not on an enrage timer, you don’t NEED to stack that much dps, so whats the rush? Its quite silly to be honest.
Toughness/vitality/healing power can be a huge QoL difference if used properly, I know it saved my ass plenty of times, while the zerklord dude next to me totally died. Unless you are doing some serious fractal or raid farming, you don’t ever need to be that glassy. Most combat in this game is about attrition, not massive dps checks, so you should build (more or less) for that, especially if you play solo a lot. You can sacrifice a little damage to make space for other useful stats. Just don’t get carried away stacking other supportive stats of course….
Right now I main a necro and a thief and been wanting a plate armor class to main but so far they all are just……bad.
Warrior- generic buff bot. nothing really fun or interesting about this class. WAY too many weapons to pick from (doesn’t matter, the only one thats good is the GS anyways…)
Revenant- Was pretty good….until it turned into an EXTREME buff bot 4.0 (glint). Doesn’t have ANY weapons to choose from (WTF Anet, really??) Class in general just feels weak, underwhelming, and unfinished.
And now I’m at guardian, haven’t played it to 80 yet so I’m asking now before I waste investing time into it.
1) Is this class another kittening buff bot?
2) Is longbow/dragon hunter actually practical (is it good)?
3) Is there a way to move faster WITHOUT kittening travel runes??
3) Just in general how is the class right now, is it in a solid spot (pve, wvw, pvp,)?
Don’t play a kittening thief if you are this afraid of close combat, as this class is inherently a close range fighter and it’s kit is built around getting up close and personal, you will just be hindering yourself severely trying to play a thief primarily at range.
Play Ranger or Mesmer. Ranger for a more true range experience and Mesmer if you want something spicier (and more difficult). These are your best choices as they have far superior ranged options and their kits actually benefit more from ranged play.

I’m glad more people are interested in GW2 (and rightfully so. It is one of, if not THE most fairest and well put together MMOs in the genre, and thats the only reason I play it, because I’m not being kitteng miked for 5 dollars every 4 minutes)
But I don’t think There will ever be official Japanese language support especially this deep into release, unless there is a sudden, unnaturally huge demand for it. Perhaps there is a language mod exists you can look into.
I have a new level80 engineer from the max level jump ticket and I have no clue how to even play it LOL! there are so many kits and turrets and s**kittens ridiculous, i have no idea how to use any of the tools it or what situation they are best in. Can someone give me a good build for doing general OWPvE (HoT) content pls so i’m not totally incompetent at least for the time being? thanks!
1: what race you pick. some starter zones are barren because no one plays those races
2: megaserver. ur probably on a dead channel.
3: it is literally the middle of the night on a Tuesday in the US and early morning in the EU, no one is even awake at this time.
GW2 is not even that good of a game its just that everything else is pure TRASH.
Tera:
Great game….until the lolita-hunters in Korea ruined it and they stupified the game so much that a toddler can be great at it.
Dragonnest:
Nexon.
Vindictus:
Nexon.
kitten anything from Aeria Games. Period.
WoW:
Game came out like 3 thousand years ago.
Archeage:
lol
Skyforge:
Russian scam…because of course it is.
ESO:
played it at launch. Boring and buggy. No interest in ever returning. I don’t even like Elder Scrolls that much anyways.
Blade and Soul:
4 years too late. It WAS one of the most innovative mmos at the time and I couldn’t wait to play it, Don’t care anymore, lost all interest as time passed. Besides, (legacy)TERA is a far superior game than BnS imo (and still is), once I started playing TERA in 2012, there was no hope for this game.
Black Desert:
Had so much fun….for 3 weeks. But has the second worse management of a MMO I have ever seen in my life, only rivaled by the likes of Archeage or Aeria games. RNGRNGRNGRNGRNG Jesus F-ING Christ. There is LITERALLY no point to do anything in this game besides “Because I want to”. This game’s community actually makes me want to suicide. The game went straight P2W in literally less than 5 months. I Chargeback. kitten it. Aint nobody got time for that.
FFXIV:
Quite possibly the most boring game I have played in my life, EVER. Subbed to it over 4 times in an attempt to see what people enjoyed about the game, could not stomach it each time, couldn’t even get 1 character to level 60. Waste of money.
Wildstar:
Great game….that no one ever ever EVER asked for. So it has no playerbase. Simple as that.
There are many more games but these are the important ones that people care about. Everything else is either just a WoW Clone or a foreign scam…or both.
Even though I don’t like how simple and easy everything in GW2 is, it is still a solid game with a NORMAL cash-shop that makes sense, and have fairly consistent / reliable western developers. So I play it. If the Korean developer/playerbase didn’t destroy TERA I would still be playing that game to this day. Case closed.

L2P. Seriously. I keep seeing people bring up dying from 20+ mobs and I have a really simple and basic solution passed down from generation to generation of veteran MMO gamers. You ready? k here we go im gonna tell u the secret prepare your kittens k here it is U rdy k here we go k:
How about not aggroing 20+ mordrem and 5 elite snipers at the same time to begin with. You are not meant to survive 5+ elite mobs. Ever. If you actually attempt to walk towards 5 elite mobs and expect to not get completely wrecked then you lack the most basic, fundamental survival skills and natural selection will take its course on your poor character.
I have never aggroed this amount of mobs by accident or just by casually walking through HoT. Ever. If you see a couple of elite mobs in your way:
A: Dodge. Walk by. Stealth. Use 1 CC break. (yeah…you can do this. Its not a joke.)
B: Walk AROUND them O.o
C: Find another path.
Some people over exaggerate the difficulty of this content so much here its not even funny. Doing anything solo (That is ABLE or intended to be done solo) is 100% possible. Basic navigation is 300% possible. The only thing that may an issue with HoT is how group dependent the a lot of open world content is. I can understand that. But any complaint that has to do with the difficulty of the content in this game is a L2P issue. Point blank. Personally my only issue with HoT is that they didn’t add enough new maps and the kittening contested waypoints…
Yeah I was also thinking maybe I shouldn’t come up with ANOTHER transform skill as an example. But normal necro has death shroud and Reaper has reaper shroud so I had to come up with at least one potential transform skill for the spec lol. So I came up with a more sacrificial type of skill. You won’t get a new skill bar like shroud or Lich, you just get a cool transform skin (kinda like Druid) While benefiting from the buffs. Maybe they can take one of the crappy elites (like Plague…) and update it to be much more useful or cool like this.
I can’t believe they idn’t have torch as one of the default weapons though. The moment I equipped one on another class I instantly thought it should have been on necro too.
Seriously why is Torch not a weapon for Necro??? This is such a perfect weapon for the class. The fire/glowing effects on the torches are spot on and it goes perfectly with the Necro theme. It would give the class a much more ghostly appearance. I can imagine myself wielding an Axe/torch for days! I would love to see this as the next elite spec or class upgrade. So here is what I came up with just messing around with ideas in the hopes that maybe some devs can get inspired from this!
Elite Specialization name: Witchcraft, or something that references phantoms and demonic…..things. Unlocks the ability to offhand (or dual wield) torches. The specialization will focus mainly on illusions (Unique from mesmer of course) and burning conditions.
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Weapons:
Torch/Torch- Seriously, this would be so effin boss! You get 5 new torch abilities for main and off hand that are enhanced by the Witchcraft trait skills.
or
x/Torch with new utilities- you get 2 off hand torch abilities and 4 new Utility skills that emphasizes corruption, illusions, and burning. Also enhanced by the Witchcraft trait skills.
Examples of the specialization
Example one:
Utility (Nyctophobia) or (Lights out): : The target is Blinded and inflicted with “Darkness”.
Darkness:
(PVP) Target’s screen will go dark and will become disoriented (Your movement keys get screwed up). Fire damage is increased by 33%.
(PVE ) Mobs won’t attack and will run frightfully in random directions. Fire damage is increased by 33%.
Duration: 3s
Number of targets:1
CD: 35s
Example 2:
Torch skill (Gates of Hell) or (Cremation): Summon a giant torch from the underworld in the target area that cripples foes and applies a powerful burning condition.
Duration 6s
Applies 5 Burns (xxx damage) lasting 15 seconds.
Radius 600
CD: 40s
Example 3:
Trait skill ( Go towards the light): Targets below the health threshold will take 15% more damage from burning conditions. If Target is killed by burn on last hit will, you restore life force.
Threshold: 25%
life force restored: 10%
Example 4:
Elite skill (I’m A Monster!) As a last resort, you enter a phantom like form, a truly horrifying entity. You lose movement speed, but gain some health and take significantly less damage. If you are downed while in this form, you inflict PTSD on up to 5 targets. If the transformation expires and you are not downed, you gain a protection for 10 seconds and 50% of your health is restored. This skill CANNOT be canceled when activated.
Duration: 10s
Movement speed -50%
Flat health gained while skill is active: Equivalent to +50% of your vitality.
Incoming damage mitigated: 50%
Damage dealt: -33%
protection: You take 9% less damage for 10s.
CD: 220s
Condition applied to foes when you are downed:
“PTSD”-Chain (root) nearby foes near your corpse and they take increased damage from allies.
applies 1 root
Damage taken: +20%
Number of targets 5
Duration: 5 seconds
Radius: 600
The idea of this ability is to support the idea of a Tank Necro by turning you into something that seemingly just won’t die. This is a team-based ultimate ability that grants you massive protections at the cost of most of your ability to fight, and punishes enemies that dare to kill you in this form. This will be especially effective in group PVP or PVE content. In PVE it will probably be mainly used for tanking large damage and for the health regen at the end.
In PVP it will be mostly used as a support ability on your deathbed in a group fight (with the PTSD condition) As this is the last thing you can do for your team before you potentially die. This skill idea is pretty complicated on paper. Its not perfect but you should get the general idea here lol.
These skills, weapons and abilities will only be available when you slot the Witchcraft specialization tree. Reaper and Witchcraft cannot be used at the same time because they are both Elite specs and can only fit on the bottom row (assuming this is how elite specs and future class upgrades will even work).
Now of course I didn’t think about class balance when coming up with these examples (especially with the elite skill which probably sounds REALLY op lol). These are just some of my little creative examples of what the theme and concept would actually look like. A devastating specialization designed around fire and confusion! You are mid-range condition based glass cannon with many utilities and/or skills that keep your enemy confused and way from you while ruthlessly burning him down.
So what do you think? Would you like to see a variation of a “Torch Necro” one day? Would you like to see something else? tbh I just wanted to offhand a freakin Torch on my Necro and it inspired this class Idea :p
