Friendly bump!
http://is.gd/operationunion
Initial reactions:
Lots of questions, nice to see them knowing some of what all of us are still wondering. But only some. No mention of Malyck still, no mention of the fallout of the Pact losing its Marshal to the very threat he was practically born to fight (and I’m not talking about just among its scattered surviving members; the Pact as an organization was recognized and respected all across Tyria. Normally in a situation like this you’d at least think prominent leaders would say something, or might think about how the beating the Pact has suffered over the course of HoT might affect their own decisions in planning how to best protect their little corner of Tyria), no mention even of what state the Pale Tree is in, no mention of the impact that losing Eir would have in Hoelbrak (there are even still NPCs there who cheer on the prospect of her breaking that darn fang in the Great Lodge, for crying out loud) or of what happened to Garm or whether Eir’s blacksmith contact ever finished reforging Magdaer (that one goes aaaaaaaallll the way back to AC story mode at launch, guys), no mention of E or the question of their identity… I could go on but I’ve just noticed how long this list is already and I should stop.
Basically I’m disappointed that ANet seem to have set up a lot of mysteries and plot threads that don’t get resolved.
I need to stress at this point that to a significant degree I enjoyed HoT, and the issues I had with the story were in the minority to the things I felt they’d improved on from personal story and some of the living world releases (hell, just ask my guild how much I’ve been gushing about it over the past few months)…
…however, I’d really like to see a little less teasing of long-term plot threads where everyone gets hyped on speculation, only for it to never have any payoff because it’s not addressed at all subsequently. It’s frustrating.
I’m looking forward to LW starting up again, I’d just really appreciate more answers to some of the existing questions, please!

Friendly bump. To all the new players or those returning for the expansion, we’re still here if you need a welcoming group of people to play alongside. See y’all in Tyria.

Just accompanied a friend who was trying to complete this step and he got the same ‘cannot progress when talking to Ogden’ bug. We tried restarting the instance to see if it would fix it but it doesn’t help.
This was in the Echoes of the Past Arcana Obscura instance, not the Point of No Return one.
- Buddy has multiple level 80 characters but has been taking alts through LS Season 2 one at a time, separately.
- He was the instance owner and I was the only other group member.
- He didn’t switch episodes, he did them in order the first time through. However, he didn’t seem to get credit for completion the first time round, which is why we were trying to do it again.
- He has been able to complete the instance once before without problems.
When the quest step says “Talk to Ogden”, before the part where you touch the hourglass, buddy tried to talk to Ogden and the dialogue window immediately re-closes when he tries to open it. For the instance the window is visible, it also appears to be blank. He doesn’t get the option to click anything, and if he tries again all he gets is lore (which is from after you complete the lair instance, not before you go in).
Hopefully something in this thread will help you guys narrow the problem down in some way because we are a pair of sad charr kittehs right now.

There are two tests scheduled for Tuesday. One is at an EU friendly time (7pm to 9pm GMT) and the second is at an NA friendly time (12am to 2am GMT).
Ah thanks, an EU-resident guildmate told me the NA friendly time because that’s what was in her email so I didn’t know about the other one. She plays on US servers despite living in EU timezones though, so that might explain why she was given that time instead of the EU friendly one. Luckily it works for her (…though, being in the same boat, it doesn’t bode well for me if this was the reason).

EU players got invites too, though midnight-2AM on a work night doesn’t seem to be the ideal time for players in that timezone anyway.
Hopefully there will be some more EU-friendly times later.

Time for a boost.

I normally just lurk at these subforums because having not been a GW1 player I often feel like I’d have no idea what I’m talking about. But I had a thought that wouldn’t leave me alone so I’m just gonna throw it out there:
What if the “mysterious voice” is E?

I really want him to die. And I mean really. I never liked him. And I think it would be a good way for the NPC hate of sylvari to stop with the death of the leader of the pact. A hero dying would be great for the story. Everyone seems bullet proof at the moment. I mean only our mentors dying are the only really impactful deaths (well forgel and tybalt, the sylvari was way too happy and annoying. I was happy when she died.)
You can even kill of Zoldra/cathe or anyone from DE 2.0, just not Timi. I’ll miss scruffy.
How dare you speak against Sieran! She gave her life for Lion’s Arch and all of Tyria!
Funnily enough, I suspect leveling a Priory character the first time round had an impact on how tolerant I was of Trahearne. After running around with Sieran for a while, it was a welcome change to be partnered with someone altogether more down-to-earth, who I didn’t have to go chasing after to keep out of trouble. Sieran was supposed to be my necromancer’s mentor, but often it felt more like my necro was the one trying to babysit her. I did feel kinda bad for giving her such a hard time after Claw Island though.
I liked Trahearne enough that by the time I rolled a sylvari I was pleasantly surprised to see him pop up in the early stages of the personal story.
The end cutscene where he was exhausted, made it really obvious what direction the story could’ve taken, but I’m really glad you guys decided not to kill him.
Cleansing Orr symbolized cleansing the theme of constant death up until that point, and it was a really cool twist observant readers could appreciate.
Killing Trahearne would be turning back on that cool twist, and ruin something that was really cool in the personal story. Besides, some people actually like Trahearne… :X
^ what this person said.

Friendly bump. This easy-going and friendly guild is still offering a safe space for newbies and veterans alike, no minimum requirements, no pressure, no such thing as a question too stupid to ask in guild chat. Feel free to say hi if you see us out and about in the game!

I’ve said this before but with all the negativity gathering pace in this thread (as it inevitably would I suppose) I feel it’s worth repeating:
To be honest, I hope ANet don’t cave into the hate and kill Trahearne. They’ve clearly learned from Season 1 and any involvement of Trahearne from this point on would be an opportunity to make sure things are done better this time round.
I would rather they use the chance to improve the character than just write him off as a lost cause.

Someone hasn’t played The Secret World. :P
^ This. No other MMO comes close for me, and that’s where I typically go for story stuff, but this season has gotten me more interested in following events in GW2 and there’s been a huge improvement from how disenchanted I was after completing the personal story. I take it as a good sign.
http://is.gd/operationunion
To be honest, things have noticeably improved and ANet have learned from S1, so I’d look at any involvement of Trahearne in S2 as an opportunity to do things better this time round. I’d rather they do that than kill him off.

This was cruel and traumatic and I think I might need a hug.

No problem, and I’ve only seen it happen at blue. The overflow I was on didn’t notice menders or have healing issues at red or green, so it seemed to us that blue was the only boss where menders periodically patrolled.
(Edited previous post: I wrote western instead of eastern. Hurrr. They spawn at the eastern edge.)
http://is.gd/operationunion
(edited by Mafetix.9857)
Seen/heard of him spawning—
1. at the base of the waterfall in front of the ogres’ cave.
2. a little north of the Durmand Dig Site POI.
3. in the water a little to the east of The Gangplank POI.
4. on the rocks below Gate Hub Plaza Waypoint.
5. on the ground under Deverol Island POI.
http://is.gd/operationunion
Until we get confirmation either way, this is still doable in the meantime: we had spotters call out menders on our overflow and they were killed before they could heal the knight.
The run after that I just kept an eye on the spot towards the eastern edge of Lion’s Court where they spawn, and every time they popped I ran over there and distracted them alone. Once they agg on someone they won’t continue heading towards the boss and can be safely taken care of outside of healing range.
Hope this helps some.

Has anyone tried making a fresh overflow and seeing if it works the first time but not subsequent times?

I’m not with BT directly but my provider is one of the many who go through them, and this would go a long way to explaining my recent lag/DC issues.
It’s a little confusing because going on at the same time are incidents like this, which seem to affect everyone and not just us: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Everybody-lagging/ <- guildmates in the States have also been reporting similar issues to that thread, so I didn’t even realise BT might also be causing problems until I stumbled across this thread.
As for playing something else, I play other games as well and have had no issues with them, but I have friends in GW2 who don’t play any of the other MMOs I do. I’d like to be able to log in and spend time with them even if it’s just chatting, though staying connected and lag-free for long enough to contribute to a dungeon run would be great too.

Thanks for providing the rest of us curious minds with the answer to “What’s up there?” at least. :P
I got up to the base of the big pillar at the back made out of logs, but ran out of charges and kept looking up… I could see what looked like a platform at the top and the structure looked so climbable if only I had enough charges, so it did make me think there was supposed to be something up there. Kinda disappointed that there isn’t. Ah well.
