Don’t forget to spam your action key lads.
Perhaps the suggestion was presented in such a way that it wasn’t deemed constructive.
The culling issue is exacerbated when fighting against thieves as they have a lot of stealth skills. I’d say this is just as important as any skill imbalance.
Many scholars have tried to decipher the ancient language of Belfagor Diabolos but none have succeeded. It remains one of the great unsolved mysteries of our time.

You’ve got to manually contact support. At least that’s what I was told. I’m waiting for them to get back to me. So silly that it’s like this.
Doubt it. I’ve been routing traffic through one myself until they get around to disabling my email authentication thing (lol)
Seriously, I can’t find it anywhere. I enabled this a few days ago because I was fed up with the client telling me that I should put it on.
It’s doing my head in. Where can I disable?!
wouldn’t be so bad if they culled/asset load correctly
Corpse dancing, jumping and other humilation tactics -- When are they acceptable?

Someone made a very good comment – to stop all this whining one simple solution do not have NA and eu servers. Anet should of made all servers international. Then there would be no excuses.
Yes! And we should all speak english because America speaks english. But wait! Shouldn’t we call it american then? That would make so many problems, like, disappear and stuff!
Just ban anyone who doesn’t speak Esperanto.
Oh, but Esperanto is more EU than international. How about we be fair for everyone and… disable chat all together? Just rely on party pings and those nice kitty images on the map.
We could always communicate through the medium of dance though. Also, I wouldn’t call it Eurocentric because it’s based on germanic/romance languages that are spoken throughout the Americas, including the USA (Spanish and English). You’re right about it not being international though, but frankly Koreans are operating on a higher plain of existence and do not require communication so it’s not important.
In any case I think it’s unfair to blame RUIN for these balance problems. The game has been designed in such a way that population differences are inevitable, be that because players are at different physical locations, or because fairweather quit or join depending on the tide of battle.

Just ban anyone who doesn’t speak Esperanto and host them in Bermuda.

And yes half of siberia is uninhabited
It stands to reason that the other half is inhabited. Given that Siberia is 8 times as large as Europe that means you’ve got 4 Europes playing against just 1 Europe in the morning time period. No wonder you guys do well in the mornings.
I like your suggestion Jamaz
The man does have a point there.
Dear Shiver-Kodashi players,
Having just logged into WvW I was dismayed to discover that my faction already has every single control point. Frankly this level of absolute failure is unacceptable. Some of us actually join WvW not to dance with Quaggans but for PvP. In future please ensure that you do not lose so hard.
Much Appreciated,
Kong
If you are expecting pvp at 4.30am on a working day then you may be playing in the wrong time zone.
Can’t you recruit some Americans for us to kill? I’d settle for Canadians.

Well, I have my own fan site and fan videos on youtube. I am often greeted in game by people I don’t know with phrases like “OMG it’s MajorKong!” “MajorKong, please teach me to be like you” and “MajorKong, you look like a 1970s New York pimp”.
AFAIK it’s NCSoft that handle bans not ArenaNet. Some of the hackers we played against a few weeks ago still haven’t been banned.

Any server out there with an active wvw base without crazy queue times?
in WvW
Posted by: MajorKong.8095
Desolations queue times aren’t too bad. I rarely have to wait longer than 20mins during UK prime time (excluding Eternal Battlegrounds).
I think wherever you go you’ll find that queue times vary so much on a week by week basis depending on whether your server is winning or not. So it might be best to slog it out wherever you are now.
Glad to hear it. Culling/reporting is the number 1 issue right now, at least for myself and the majority of my WvW guild.
Matt, do you plan to increase the limit that’s currently in place for asset loading? What about allowing us to set our own custom limit or rule set?
Thanks,
Kong
We’ve had this happen several times to us. It’s typically an exploiter under the world shooting it from below. Usually we have to lose the keep and retake it to have the alter fixed, although we did manage to fix it this one time by having everyone spam the action key (yeh, I’ve no idea how that worked, but it did).
Most necromancers we face give us free rallies with all those pets. Engineers can take out siege from long distance with grenade spam.
1. Nope. I mean if I wanted to cheat I’d go to a third party and get 10 times as much for the same price (duh).
2. Microtransactions are the spawn of Satan. Generally I don’t want to support that model regardless of how I feel about a game.
3. Invisible Armies. Server-Client reporting/culling needs improving as does client side asset loading.
At this point I wouldn’t mind waiting a few minutes at a loading screen while everyones armour/weapon/dye information is actually download in advance and put into local storage on my machine. They’ve still got to worry about movement, spells, players updating themselves, and new players of course, but at least this way one would assume the reporting/culling issues would be alleviated somewhat. A solution is needed because this is end game for a lot of us and it’s diminishing the experience.
I don’t like it in WvW.
Probably the ONLY change I’d recommend making is this… if you’re defeated, fade to black. Take away their eyes. You shouldn’t be able to be a “dead spy” lying around in a keep watching what’s going on. When defeated, fade to black in WvW only. You can’t see if somone’s coming to rez you, you can’t spy.
I like this, but I prefer “fade to map” as someone else has suggested.
Good idea. We sometimes try to fear/knock back spies away from us before killing them but that’s pretty impractical and rather silly. I’d much rather have your idea implemented.
Because the graphics in DAoC sucked. Do I really need to explain why better graphics cause problems?
Yes, but the limiting factor right now is most certainly a networking issue. There’e also a limit on the number of characters “loaded” at any given time though but that’s something else.
Carnival games, renowned for their integrity and moral conduct. Wait, no.
It’s possible to whisper enemies anyway by right clicking them and selecting report. It will display the players unique ID then and you don’t have to confirm the report.
You can drop them on the ground and let someone else pick them up if you want to trade/donate it.
This. Buying gems can be useful as a hedge against gold inflation, but not really a useful form of making profit. I’ve bought a small number of gems as I’ve been levelling, and while I could now sell them back for a “profit”, I’m not likely to do so unless I actually have a use for the gold I would get. Until that time, the gold I have tied up in gems is somewhat “inflation proofed”.
It’s also worth remembering that you’ll lose a lot if you trade into gems and them immediately trade back. I think it was something like 28% (IIRC)
@OP I’d keep a close eye on mystic coins during the Halloween event and around the start of November. My hunch is that they’ll fall a fair amount at around that time but come back up in value towards the end of November. Take that with a pinch of salt though, like all trading advice ever.
There’s always going to be more than enough chests so lets just ignore them and look at it for what it is. Which from where I am sitting is a system where players pay £/$/€ for a chance of receiving an item. A chance that isn’t even specified. It’s the worst form of microtransaction really.
I mean if black lion keys had the same legal status as scratch cards they’d actually be illegal in some countries for not providing details on the odds. It all seems very immoral tbh. What I think ArenaNet should do → http://www.walottery.com/Games/Scratch/Scratch.aspx?id=1172
This is something I’d really like to see too and it’s certainly a fair point to bring up. It’s worth noting however that the current system does have some advantages:
1) Cross server flame wars are confined to the forums.
2) It’s harder to give away allied positions (although still possible of course)
Droknar’s Forgehammer looks very awesome.
It’s silly that it’s not like that. Some of our commanders have bought multiple commander books which feels unnecessary.
There are some things that frustrate me and I just wonder if more experienced players feel this way .
I feel like when i go in there anything I do does not feel like an accomplishment as most things you do such as buying seige equipment and spending the time to erect it or upgrade your keep can and is taken so quickly .I wonder if other players would feel happier if once you upgraded one of your servers structures it stays upgraded and is obviously more valued ,to be defended and to be attacked until the match is reset at the weekly or whatever is decided to be the reset and rematch .?
At least when you purchase upgrades for your structures you can see your contribution every time you enter the zone until reset .
I know passionate players that have spend time and lots of gold striving to fight for there server only to come in the next day and it was all for nothing .At least if your tower was taken with all your upgrades in place organising and focusing on retaking it would be much more satisfying knowing all your previous hard work is still intact.
Just a thought to give players a feeling of accomplishment even if it is only for a week .
We do not get much feedback from devs so unless any of the above is implemented we will never know what they thought .
Yeah, it wouldn’t have to be anything complicated either. Perhaps the quarter master could shout out the names of the top contributors.
I was putting the trebs down, you can take them out with ballista just gotta have the “sweet spot” rather then just plop down a ballista at the CP and go to town.
Actually that’s impossible if the trebs are placed in a certain spot a little further back than usual. Don’t get any ideas
There shouldn’t be seperate NA and EU servers IMO. It would make WvW matches more meaningful. And lets face it, Tab Target games don’t terribly suffer from latency issues. Most people in EU would only see an increase of maybe 50 latency. The only people that would be hurt by it are Aussie guilds, but that increase shouldn’t be too much either.
It would no doubt be larger than 50ms for all but those living in Porthcurno, Cornwall. There are also more European players so the presumption that the servers would be in NA is misguided.
I only request that any Americans moving to European servers refrain from writing period like this. Period.
I think he’s suggesting that things which might look as exploits to some are simply tricks they don’t know, or havent noticed aspects of when set into motion
Ah, I thought the “terrain exploit” being talked about was players glitching into keeps not that trebuchet location up at garrison. Placing a trebuchet there is completely legit in my opinion, although perhaps it’s something ArenaNet will need to balance. That said, anyone bypassing fortifications is clearly cheating (excluding hiding mesmers and similar).
Lin, we still have major presence on BGs. Chaos never sleeps
2 other guys, especially from Desolation, stop crying about mesmers, terrain exploits etc. ThUn are skilled enough to organize such tricks. If you cant do the same, then search problem in yourself.
This is insane reasoning. Are you seriously suggesting we should exploit because some members on the others team do?
We just had a battle so large that the server crashed.
I’d love to have ranks that are based on completing WvW objectives. In fact I’d be fine with removing the level icon next to our name and replacing it with a “WvW rank” (provided it doesn’t boost combat effectiveness i.e. make you stronger)
Also, more titles, and more tiers of titles!
I don’t think this is a solution to queue times.
Why not?
Sure, well I have a few contentions with the system. Apologies for not bothering to bring them up before.
1. Queue times will still exist it’s just that they’ve been redistributed. A real fix would reduce or eliminate the average queue length.
2. Free movement between servers is an issue when it comes to WvW population differences and queues, however I postulate that majority of these differences are actually caused by local “fair-weather players” who quit when we’re losing or join when we’re winning and not from immigrants.
3. Time spent in WvW or objectives completed could be a better measure than time spent on a server. Someone who’s swapped recently and played WvW has no doubt contributed more than a PvE player whose been on the server since release but under your system he would be punished more. Correct me if I’ve misunderstood, but this seems counter to your philosophy that those who contribute most should be rewarded with high priority in the queue.
4. It’s not nice to tell people they’re less worthy than someone else, even if it is true. A complete block on WvW for a short period is much less personal.
5. There are some details missing that could potentially ruin this system. How long does someone need to have been on a server before the priority caps? Will new players be punished?
Nothing personal meant here. Just trying to be critical.
Cheers,
Kong

Alternatively, let everyone have free transfers as often as they like, but restrict WvW access for 72 hours (or until the end of the cycle, whatever).
I don’t think this is a solution to queue times.
22. Might move onto greener pasture if things don’t shape up soon so perhaps there’s some truth to this idea of younger players leaving more.
PvE – I have my world completion star, which was fun to get, however now that I’ve completed all the zones doing it again does not hold any appeal, especially since it was only challenging in terms of time spent player rather than player skill. Other than zone completion I’m left with dungeons, and frankly they’re not at all challenging or interesting enough to have my attention (subjective opinion, sorry).
sPvP – 8v8 is either glory farmers or those testing game mechanics. 5v5 is much better but it’s still pretty boring really. Right now if I want my competitive fix I’ll load up DotA2, Starcraft, or various FPS games, because I don’t feel GW2 or any other contemporary MMO offers competitive experience like that. To be honest I liked the PvP in GW1 more and I really wished they stuck closer to that.
WvW – The only reason I still play really, but there’s so many bugs and issues that could do with fixing. Here’s my whine post about it : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/WvW-My-Praise-Criticism-and-Recommendations/first

some interesting points, thanks. I know what you mean about sitting on a ballista at a supply camp and not getting rewarded (at least in terms of karma, gold, and fun for the person guarding).
