I’m looking for a small to mid sized guild with a good community that’s active to help me get back into the game. I played GW2 heavily for the first 4-5 months dropping off shortly after the Wintersday Festival. I was a part of an all-friends guild back then but the majority of them have all stopped playing entirely. I still occasionally play for a couple weeks at a time, but playing alone in this game can get rough at points.

I have a lvl 80 Guardian and a lvl 50 Necro. Ideally I’d like to find a guild that would be willing to help run dungeons and is focused more on PvE side of GW2.

It seems most people here grossly underestimate the Human and Norn races.

Humans for actually having conquered most of the Charr for ages before being beat back (it still proves that they can stand up to char in an all out war). Lets not forget that the Krytan people having problems of their own did not allow for ALL humans to be united against the Charr offensive did not help either. Humans are a perfect blend between the Asurans (very easily adaptable to technology) and Char (cunning and brawn when needed).

Norn. What is there to say, incredible individual fighters. They aren’t in this discussion because you’d be hard pressed to find them organized for a war offensive, but if united they would be a juggernaut.

Before anyone brings them up, tree people don’t get a seat at the table.

I agree with you about the Humans and Norn, but while they would be able to put up a fight I don’t think they would last. Humans are far more the under-dog now then they were when they first conquered the Charr, with most of their nations being destroyed (Orr and Ascalon).

It seems the general consensus is that it would end as a slug fest between the Charr and the Asura. Which I would have to agree with.

(BTW: I lolled when I read your Sylvari comment )

This is the link to a thread I made a while ago. It’s something new I been fiddling with; a “Glass-Cannon”-esque kind of build for good damage while still maintaining a bit of survivability.

Asura: Total War

The main issue I have with these analysis is that although failrly accurate, they fail to incorporate WHY the Asura would want to wage war?

They’ve already got a fair number of the other races working for them. They’ve got no desire for military conquest, only scientific discovery. In the end, the Asura got everything they want and need through peaceful means. Why would they wage war just to destroy some distant nation with cat-people that can also be convinced to help them peacefully? All they need to do is hand out some minor trinkets. Whatever damage the Charr may cause with that is irrelevant because it’s highly unlikely to ever affect the Asura themselves.

Well, the point when I made this thread wasn’t to say why, we the Asura, would go to war but what would happen when we did. The thought process is already beyond the point of “Why” and the war has already begun. The thread is to talk strategy and military might in a kind of “Deadliest Warrior” for GW2.

But I wondered “What if they unified under one banner and formed a larger more cohesive group?” and that led to “What if they then decided to declare war on the others races?”

If you’ve played the infintiy ball story arc:
You'd know that based on analysis of alternative future timelines, in 3 out of 5 of the timelines, the dragons won. In 2 out of the 5 timelines the Asuran player character formed a meta krewe to rival the inquest, invented steam golem technology and conquered all of tyria (Some of which can be seen leaking out of temporal rifts in metrica and lornar's pass)

Wow, I never played that story line (I did the VAL-A one) but was never really planning on making another asuran character. This has totally blown my mind lol.

What weapons are you using? Because if you’re using one-handed weapons, it might be interesting to drop 5 points out of Valor or Honor for Right-Hand Strength.

Also, is Carrion (that’s Condition Damage, right?) the right option? I’m generally not in favor of condition builds, since we only apply one, and I have a bias in favor of critical chance.
As last Utility, it might be nice to have something that frequently grants boons, so you get more damage out of it.

The weapons I’m using are sword/torch and GS, Right-Hand Strength is a good choice. That hadn’t occurred to me. The 5 in Valor were fairly through away points for the vigor but the 15% dmg for one-handed would definitely welcomed. As for Carrion, I don’t know if it is the right choice or not, but it seemed to fit the bill. This is something new that I’ve created and it does need more polishing for sure, if you have any recommendations on which to use feel free to suggest it.

MajorShock.4023

So I’ve just been sitting around thinking about the Asuran race as a whole. Overall I feel that the Asura are a rather haughty race. They’ve been known to be cruel and unforgiving towards foreign races/species as well as towards each other. They operate almost like a collection of city-states with each krewe and college doing what they deem important at the time with no real overall authority deciding what should be done. I know the Asurans have their Council, but its authority seems severely limited (that or they simply don’t care). But I wondered “What if they unified under one banner and formed a larger more cohesive group?” and that led to “What if they then decided to declare war on the others races?”

So I ask you this if the Asura created a military force would any race be able to stop them? Or would the Asuran War Machine steam roll over all of Tyria. Taking out Elder Dragons and alliances, in a 1 on 1 war was to erupt who would be victorious?

New Concept Build For Gaurdian

I’ve been contemplating a new build design for my guardian as of late to give my Guardian some extra “Umpf” while fighting with my friends. Diving heavily into the Radiance and Virtues trait lines I think I’ve found something that might prove viable. I would also like to note that this isn’t really a solo build, I’ve sacrificed a good amount of Toughness and Vitality for greater damage output. (Also sorry in advance if I’m just figuring out something that has already been found, I suppose this will just be my take on it).

The Traits:
10- Power: Fiery Wrath (minor)
30- Radiance: Signet Mastery (minor), and Searing Flame (major), Right-Hand Strength (master)
5- Valor
25- Virtues: Vengeful (minor), and Absolute Resolve (major)

The Weapons: I’ve been using with this is a Sword/Torch and GS combo. With Shaman/ Carrion stats. I also been trying this with a Scepter/Focus and Sword/Torch for some ranged damage.

The Armor: I’m currently using Carrion armor with Runes of the Flame Legion on them. Knight’s and Valkyrie armor has been recommended here as well, also I think Runes of the Forge may be a good substitute here as well.

Utility Skills: Signet of Resolve (6), “Save Your Selves!” (7), Contemplation of Purity (8), and Signet of Judgement (9). Elite Skill: Renewed Focus.

The theory is this: while partying with friends/guild/or whoever in a condition heavy environment we would use “Save Your Selves” to draw conditions from our party members; then once we have the conditions on us we’d use Contemplation of Purity to then turn those conditions into boons. With our 25 points into Virtues we gain more damage for each boon on us. And with our torches/burning skills our points into Radiance give us more condition damage, coupled with the traits I’ve chosen to deal further damage to enemies suffering from burning and other conditions. Skill 9 I feel is up to the player’s tastes (along with the Elite skill). I’ve chose the Signet of Judgement for a little extra Toughness.

This is my first go at creating my own build and trying to share it with others. If I’ve left out any important information please let me know. Also I’m looking for some more Guardians to help me try out this build. So any help/info would be greatly appreciated! Also please let me know what you think, any suggestions or revisions are welcomed!

-Edited: Removed 5 points from Honor and put them into Radiance to gain Right-Hand Strength. Added Flame Legion runes as a good option for armor. Lots of trait changes: Added Signet Mastery and Searing Flames in Radiance; added Absolute Resolve in Virtues. Switch Elite Skill to Renewed Focus. Switched Shelter for Signet of Resolve for more synergy with Signet Mastery. Changed to Runes of the Flame Legion; added more armor varieties for build compatibility.

I agree with this. There should be a store you walk in to and pay a couple silver for a hair cut. Any other cosmetic things like sex change, skin color, body size, etc. should be from the gem store.

Not quite sure I would go as far as sex changes and the body stuff. Not that its a bad idea, I’m looking at it from more of a lore/fitting in to the environment type of thing. But hair and maybe even make-up, earrings, piercings, etc. to be available at an in game shop would awesome though

Great thread, well written and thought out. I definitely find my Guardian less fun to play with my greatsword now (which I used as my primary all the way to lvl 80 and to be honest was my favorite weapon available to the Guardian). I really loved the class too but it might be time to switch to a new one. The most disappointing thing to me now though is this: if Anet is just going to be throwing around random patches to break our class, with no recompense on our behalf, what the hell is the point?

Hi, I was wondering if someone would be able to tell me where I can find a new back slot item for my character (lvl 80). I’m not looking for the Guild Armorsmith Backpacks either. Which Karma Vendor, if any, can I get a lvl 80 back slot item from? Or is the Guild Armorsmith the only way to get them? I tried the wiki as well but it wasn’t much help.

I like waypoint fees, It keeps people from having insane amounts of gold all the time, all though another form of transportation like mounts would be nice. I like waypoints as-is

yeah that’s great and all, but what about the people with no money (like me). People already have insane amounts of gold I might add, and prices for things like cultural armors, mats, runes, and various other things are already astronomical, I think al little tax break on Waypoint fees would be much appreciated.

A Few Suggestions For Anet

in Suggestions

Posted by: MajorShock.4023

MajorShock.4023

This is just a small list of things I’d like to see implemented into the game sometime in the future. I’ve coasted through the first couple of pages in the “Suggestions” thread, and have collected a couple of ideas that I haven’t seen anyone talk about yet. Please read and feel free to comment, whether you agree with me or not I’d love to hear some opinions.

  • First off I would kill to get AoE looting into this game. When I get swarmed by mobs and pull off some sweet moves to kill 10+ enemies at a time I would love to be able to just hit “F” once and grab all my loot and be able to move on. Click “F” 10 times in a row is a bit… tedious.
  • Could we remove Armor Repair from WvWvW. Please I have a hard enough time making money in game as is, but even when I want to roam in WvW for a little PvP if I die I still have to fix my armor afterwards.
  • Dueling. (I do realize that ALOT of people have mentioned this) But I have to agree. I know Anet has a philosophy of Cooperation in GW2 and that they want the players to work together and act as a team when playing. That said, I feel it might have done a little too good of a job at that. People will always be competitive and sometime SPvP isn’t enough, I don’t think it would be a game breaker to allow the player to be able to duel 1v1 with random people in the world or even friendly competition among friends.
  • Guild Halls. Ok, so not sure about this one here. I’ve heard rumors that Anet is planning on implementing them at a later date but I’ve seen no credible proof of that. Maybe some one here has some info on that. Loved the Halls back in GW1 think it would be cool to carry the over to the next gen.
  • Finally and most important, in my opinion, is Player to Player trading. Please put this in game, I realize that the Trading Post is supposed to be the end-all-be-all solution to trading, but what happens when it crashes and goes down for days at a time? You get stuck with no way of getting materials or armor or weapons that you want. I suppose you could always just send random people money in the mail and hope to god that you get what you asked for in return, but unlikely. I thought the trading system in GW1 worked fine, why can’t we have Mail, the Trading Post, and a Player to Player Trading system? I don’t know why but it irks me so much to be standing right next to my bud and want to give him a piece of gear that I found but have to go and Mail it to him instead of just giving it to him right then and there. I know this last post here sounds a bit kitteny and I’m sorry for that, but I think this would make the game a better place if this could get implemented.

Well that’s it from me for now, perhaps if I get anymore ideas I’ll come back and edit my list. Thanks for reading and go play some GW2!

Defend Fort Trinity (lvl 70) Personal Story Bug.

MajorShock.4023

I’ve been stuck on this story quest for some time now. I submitted a bug report in game about a week ago, but nothing seems to have come to it. So I’ll write about it here and maybe one of you can help or perhaps a dev might stumble upon this and will be able to help.

So I go to start the quest and the first objective is to report to Trahearne. I walk up to him and he’s chatting with a couple of Pact members about the Asuran gates not functioning, I talk to him, complete the objective… then nothing happens. No enemies arrive, no additional dialogue, no new objectives.

Has anyone else experienced this problem, if so were you able to find a work around, or is this just my rotten luck. If anyone is able to help I would be grateful, I’ve postponed entering Orr so I can go through it while following my story line but I’m getting kind of bummed out this is still broken for me. Thanks in advanced for reading.
