Nope, I just uninstalled instead. Last several content updates have been utter trash, and this patch shows how the inmates truly are running the asylum.
My only thought is that 99% of anet must be working on an expansion, and the C team is handling the running of the game.
Only about the continued PVP balance changes still being pushed into PVE.
Blurred frenzy was def a PVP change and had nothing to do with PVE. Want to see OP in PVE? See warrior damage even with a minor nerf.
Started playing Mesmer from the beginning when it was the least played class. Then the very small majority that play PVP in this game figured out how good it was and the massive bandwagon began. People cried and cried and anet responded.
Since then it has been nerf after nerf after nerf. Yeah it’s still better than playing ranger, but it won’t be too much longer before people won’t want a mes in their group. 2-3 more patches?
Another patch focused ENTIRELY ON PVP BALANCE that just decimates PVE builds. Nice anet, said you weren’t gonna do that anymore? Lies, all of it lies.
I find it odd that the clear winner for across the board strongest profession got buffed even more – Guardian.
It’s like Anet wants us all to play guardians, in every part of the game.
It’s another obvious PVP balance that also severely hinders PVE. Good game anet, good game…..
Minimum wage job. Gem-gold. Faster and more efficient. It’s summer, maybe someone will pay you to mow lawns, or work as a lifeguard at the pool.
Anet is doing their best to try and promote the weakest and least played part of GW2: sPVP.
My only guess is that some analysis shows that sPVP players spend the most money on gems. Seriously, that is the only logical conclusion to their actions.
It is a problem to have on profession do significantly more DPS than all the others when DPS is the only genre of profession (class) in an MMO.
Every profession should be capable of similar DPS output in at least 1 or 2 various builds. Right now many professions are nothing more than an anchor in PVE. Hey want challenging PVE in GW2? Take multiple rangers/necros in your group.
I heard it was coming in the expansion with ascended weapons and new legendary armor.
Sky pirates. What’s next, quaggan bounty hunter chronicles?
Torment, worst idea ever. Hey we’re going to try and balance a horribly unbalanced game with another condition (basically confusion, but worse).
More PVP based changes, a form of that game that maybe 1-2% consistently play (if that) and mainly to exploit for rewards. Awful.
Thief and or Mesmer. Easy as pie. stealth run bombs drop portal. Rinse repeat. Just make sure you can survive maybe 1 AOE when you run bombs (switching out of glass cannon armor helps).
Still broke. Way back when before they screwed this up 8-12k hits were the norm on it. Lowest I’d see was 6k. Now good luck getting about 3k.
Oh, but we’ll get more conditions, interrupt builds, and PVP/WVW changes in balance updates. Yay!
Want refund for twilight.
I would trade all of those (maybe minus signet of illusions) for a fixed zerker, or well fixed GS in general.
Ascended gear was for fractals. Since fractals have been pretty much abandoned by anet most people forget that, and/or are too new to know.
Then people cried, and anet implemented other ways to get fractal gear. Of course the last few pieces couldn’t be infused because they want to keep the cap on FOTM level for whatever reason.
Pretty much quit playing the game. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back. If they totally do a 180 on where the game is headed I’d gladly come back and play more.
I have no interest in waiting around an hour for an event in Orr and killing veteran spiders that apparently have venom and can attack me, but don’t drop venom? Takes the RPG out of mmorpg.
The only entity that can truly have a monopoly in this game is anet.
More “advanced” games have ways of fixing this. Leave a match while in progress? Can’t que up for 60, 90, 180, etc. minutes. Problem solved.
OP I feel ya. Should have stuck with the other MMOs and if not for my guildies I would have uninstalled months ago. Most of em feel like you, but have so much time invested in it they don’t want to leave.
It’s like one of those abusive relationships. They know the next living update content is going to be a giant let down, but they can’t help it anymore.
I like to use moa morph on random mobs when in dungeons for giggles and laughs. Other than that I’m not sure the use of it?
As evidenced by the zerker thread, Mesmer is way too powerful. Mesmer main AOE can hit 0-4 times (yes that’s right a whopping ZERO) and up to 400 damage. Nerf now please.
Precursor is the lowest cost of a legendary – even the 500g ones.
This game doesn’t even resemble the game I started playing in September. The only thing that is the same is that my favorite profession is still bugged.
Daily chests for world events are a joke. They barely cover the cost of WP. Probably shouldn’t even reward that well for standing in one place and hitting 1 for 30 seconds.
So basically what’s being said is “Hey guys we nerfed the damge into the ground so now sometimes it won’t hit at all, and when it does it hits for less. The only real bug is that it doesn’t display this horrible damage”
- Working as intended………
No we’re not noticing the 30-50% less damage when it does hit now. Clearly everyone playing Mesmer is wrong…..
I haven’t seen a reason yet why anyone should have faith in the “market” that is the GW2 “economy”. It’s a game and the owners will do with it what they please or see fit.
Exponentially increasing supply or taking it off the market almost entirely at a whim to support their ultimate goal: profit. When you accept that reality you’ll know anything could happen, at any time.
And no the price of dust went up because of massive nerfs to pretty much the entire supply throughout orr. Events just aren’t farmable anymore. So you can farm gold, but you can’t farm mats. I wonder what will happen when there’s a lot of gold but no mats? Hmm…… The only exploit I see is a too easy dungeon rewarding far above its difficulty.
Yeah dungeon crawls aren’t for everyone. On the other hand I’ll take dungeon crawl over 1 boss instance or auto-attack fest meta event any day. I understand many people playing GW2 don’t like a challenge, and maybe that’s the point of the game.
I guess when they talk about best MMOs they’re not taking into account the main storyline. User made content puts Neverwinter on there even with its glaring faults. Some of those stories have more thought and effort put into them than any of the living story content so far and it shows.
Dedication to improving? That line made me laugh. Broken skills almost a year later after launch. Where’s that mentioned in the article?
It should definitely be on that list and probably #1, but still that line about “dedication”. Funny.
IMHO in 2012/2013 there have been far better single player games than MMOs launched.
The only way they could start making toughness/vitality pertinent is adding events where it’s required or your team wipes. IE, if you don’t have xx amount of HPs/Toughness you will die to persistent effects. No way to avoid em.
I find the entire living story update each month is not even on par with user made content (for free) in some other MMOs.
Makes me think that a large portion of the staff is actually working on another project (expansion, new game, etc.).
Lol at lupi being the most difficult boss in a dungeon.
sPVP in this game is awful. Probably the worst PVP since people were playing against each other over modem. Custom arena glory exploits are laughable as get out and spectating and joining a match at the end with the winners? Boring cookie cutter bunker builds and broken skill/mechanics. What’s not to love?
It’s bad business imho. Poor taste tactics designed to dupe kids with their parent’s credit cards and a few extra dollars. The patch notes are worded in an awful and duplicitous way.
Yes, it was like this during all other holiday events. Just rinse, wash, repeat. They recycle the same format, add new RNG items, and watch the cash roll in.
How about some improvements, and/or originality?
GW2 sPVP format is a joke. It doesn’t kick people Akitteng, it has no penalties for leaving (longer que time, ban, etc.) and you can’t play with your friends. Absolutely, awful design that most pvp type games have moved past in the year 2013.
While not representative of most experiences, I grinded out the mini and actually made a few gold doing so.
A lazy fix to an artificial problem that ANET created. Both the saturation of the market with ecto, and the “shortage” of dust.
With the last update it becomes clear that they nerfed farming areas ahead of dragon bash and the high rate of drop of dragon coffers. Dust scarcity was a side effect.
I don’t like dust being tied to ecto and vice versa at all. Seems odd and out of place.
This thread is laughable. Mesmer as a profession has been nerfed into the ground.
I wonder how other professions would feel if one of their main (if not most) damaging AOEs was doing 1/3 (or less) of the damage it did a few months ago.
While other classes like warrior, thief, ranger, just got buffed…..
Sword is an amazing main weapon. I switch out GS( thank you bugs) and staff, but always have the sword/something slotted.
It is absolutely an offensive weapon. I prefer Sword/Focus for PVE because reflect just can’t be beaten for damage. That would be my main support combination.
New higher level areas. Orr is a mess and Frostgorge isn’t large enough (the 80 area). Also, few really want to go to Southsun. In conjunction, dynamic events that require more than minimum dodging skills and auto-attack. And, one shot invisible (culling) mobs does not make a difficult encounter. It makes it cheap.
FIX all of the bugged skills/abilities before rolling out nerfbat/buffing of professions.
Balance PVE professions. If we don’t have a trinity in this game (which we don’t) then each class must be capable of similar DPS output in at least one build.
Regular, changing, WVW maps. Remove it from world completion and rotate the maps on a semi-regular basis.
Perhaps you’ve heard of us? Post something even slightly challenging in game.
That’s like posting a video of who can tie their shoes the fastest.
A good way to think of it is, what do people want, and how is anet going to make it harder for them to get it? Once you’ve answered that question you know what to buy (for example T6 dust).
thief + mes on this fractal = win.
Phantasmal warden +reflect can take out an entire side of chanters and negate all of their damage while breaking the seal. Stack the chanters, drop a warden on the vet, melee down, reflect if necessary. Thief stealth/ mobility + port can make this part go fast.
You will rarely, if ever, see something like that happen in a PUG though. Most PUGs people think grabbing the hammer will give them a weird rash or something.
You don’t even need reflection for the adds, you just need to be able to use the dodge key and focus DPS. They key is coordination.
You’d have to try and get a group together with 0 reflection skills or AOE. I’m sure it’s possible but why not have 1 thief, guardian, mesmer, ele, etc.?
As a phantasm build with focus reflect it’s entirely possible to solo the adds while the whole party is off rezzing downed members, on the boss, etc.
I’m with you on any and all updates to fractals, but the devs have been completely silent on the matter. It’s obvious they want players to avoid and/or forget FOTM even exists in the game.
I’d even applaud a weapon ticket dropping so you can pick out a weapon usable by your profession. I’ve made new characters just to use some of the fractal weapons I’ve obtained. Fun having a level 1 thief running around with a fractal dagger.
Paid no more than 20g for any of the flame n frost dyes, felt bad paying that much. I’m sure tons of people are paying 100g+ to use the dyes….
I read the topic, don’t think he really needs any changes. Never had a problem with Mossman.
I just want more challenging content. Doesn’t have anything to do with hardcore vs casual. Even the games I play casually I like a challenge.
I don’t want this to be the dark souls of MMOs, but would like something beyond auto-attack akitten meta events (looking at you karka queen).
I don’t think any of these arguments really have anything to do with hardcore vs casual. I can play a game 1-2 hrs a week or less and still like to be challenged. Maybe change the title to “Catering to bad video game players is ruining Guild Wars 2?”
I sure hope they reintroduce them so the ones buying them up then trying to sell them for 120g+ take a huge hit. That would be hilarious.
At this point no one is buying the dyes to actually use them, that’s pretty clear which is a shame because having all of them (and more saved) they are some of the best dyes in game, if not the best.
Bring more reflect. Bring more guards for aegis. It’ll make your life easier. When playing Mesmer I hide behind my phantasms. Kind of like a human shield.
Bring a thief. Stacking reflection will make most fractals much easier.
