The reality is people do not miss dungeons at all, they miss the easy gold. Plain and simple, if you liked dungeons you will always be able to find like minded people and still run them. There are guilds that are devoted to this, they are still there to run.
As to why were they were abandoned it was because ANET tried several times to improve them. You say, why don’t they just revamp them. Well they did (AC), people started to run them less. You say, why don’t they make new ones with better mechanics. Well they did (TA:Aether), people don’t run them at all. So why should ANET spend time and money (development resources) on a part of the game that people don’t run. People are complaining not because of lack of dungeons but because the easy gold is no longer there, that is the hard truth. Now if you want that gold it is hard and it takes time to learn, people don’t want to put in the effort.
Plain and Simple.
That’s not really true. The only change they did to AC was nerfing some damage output and fixing an issue with those burrow things in that boss/event (can’t remember the name) as well as with the lovers boss. Aside that, they didn’t change any of the glaring issues. TA is the same thing. They added a new dungeon that just sucked. It looked awesome, and if it worked right it would be an amazing dungeon. But theres too much griefing, adds take too long to die and they hit too hard. And, of course, one of the biggest issues (that is game wide) is the rewards.
So, you can’t just say that they tried and people didn’t like it. Their efforts were kitten, and dungeons weren’t fun and still aren’t fun. Instead of apologizing to the community and PROPERLY revamping them, they just abandon the content altogether without even properly acknowledging it to the community. They have not once in the years that this game has been out released a statement concerning dungeons.
kitten, there isn’t even a dungeon team anymore.
So please, don’t make excuses for them.
(edited by Many Pesky Monk.3140)
That doesn’t excuse them from abandoning dungeons altogether. I understand if that is where they want all of their focus to be on (fractals/raids) but to completely disregard a HUGE chunk of PvE content for literally no good reason is…alarming.
Serious question. I just can’t seem to wrap my head around it. How is it that a company completely abandons such a huge chunk of it’s PvE content?
I’ve never seen another MMO do this before. Instead of reworking/fixing dungeons, they nerf it and just leave it broken, forcing players to do other things like fractals and raids.
Has Anet given a reason why they forever abandoned dungeons, or will they ever go back and fix them?

OP: they were preparing the expansion the past year, so that’s why we didn’t have a lot of updates. ‘Abandoned’ is a very strong word and isn’t true. It’s true for the dungeons, which is strange and sad, but we know that since about 2 years…
That makes sense, thanks!
Also, did they give a reason why dungeons were abandoned?
They haven’t actually acknowledged that dungeons are abandoned. I think they want to leave the door open to returning to dungeons at some point but have no plans to at this time—that’s my guess, anyway.
Hopefully they do. That’s a lot of content to just abandon. So much opportunity down the drain..well..for the moment anyway.
I sure hope the expansion makes up for all of that though.

Did I really just read a thread that said pve is abandoned lol? X3
Dungeons have been abandoned.
Fractals haven’t gotten any updates since I’ve last played, like 8 months ago.
DE’s throughout the world have also been abandoned, haven’t gotten any fixes on any of the existing ones that need a fix either. The only new thing/s are those 2 zones that got added, as far as I know anyway. But do tell if I’m wrong here.
You are right on dungoen, but we know that for the last 2 years.
Fractal : So what? Does everything need an upgrade each 2months or they are abandonned? It take time to code those thing. In 2 months they gonna get a major updage, nothing to whine about here.
Just 2 weeks ago they fixed Ogre Wars.
Can you at least wait for the expansion. It’s right there. Who the kitten whine about lacking update 2 months before an expansion. Should Anet take a break of the expansion to give some new upgate?
Not adding anything at all for 8 months is not good, especially for a game with limited challenging PvE content as is.
Also, I think you need to take off those Anet bedsheets for a second. What was my purpose for creating this thread? I wanted to see, if with the expansion, they would be addressing the issues that I’ve mentioned. So I don’t get where you’re seeing me complain about the lack of kitten.
Take a chill pill, breh.

Ehh when I was around that wasn’t the case. It seems like people just got tired of complaining because their complaints weren’t being heard. Same as when people complained endlessly about dungeons and their glaring issues. The issues weren’t fixed, but the community was ignored so people stopped voicing them.
There is almost zero issue where the community all have the same response.
Pretty sure everyone agreed dungeons were broken.
Also sure that everyone agreed that most of the PvE content in general has been abandoned (until the xpac now anyway).
In any case, I didn’t make the post to discuss what the community did or didn’t agree on, just wanted to see if there was more being done to bring about a better and more challenging PvE experience. Got my answer, thanks!

- Dungeons are probably abandoned. They’ve even started calling fractals “fractal dungeons” so that when they say “dungeon” in the future they can say, “Yeah, we meant fractal dungeons.”
- Fractals are being overhauled. Now it’s one fractal per run, so that fractals can have a lower time commitment per run—probably a good idea, given the next point. They’re also changing the reward structure, adding new rewards to them, and letting fractals lead you to a legendary backpiece.
- Raids are being introduced. We don’t know much about them at this time except that they’re 10-person parties, will have three bosses in the first released “wing,” and that they’re going to use the Mastery system (like gliding during boss fights). Colin said they want to promote the use of control and support, not just damage, for raids. Also, raids will offer legendary armor sets.
Whether that addresses any of your concerns, I don’t know! But I’m hopeful for raids and the new fractals stuff, at least. I just hope they don’t abandon them for the next shiny idea and keep releasing new fractals and new raids after launch.
Yeah that pretty much addresses most of my concerns. I don’t understand why they would abandon dungeons, though. That’s a lot of PvE content right there for players.
And I do hope that they make new and challenging DEs not just in the expansion area, but throughout the world. Was hoping there would be updates to existing DEs, but maybe in due time.
I think they have motivation to keep improving the core Tyria zones, because they’re implementing a map reward system intended to keep level 80 players returning to those maps over time. Hopefully that means they’re going to work to make sure those zones stay fun and exciting.
They’re also apparently using the dynamic event system in raids to prevent linearity and have a good variety of activities in them beyond just fighting bosses—I hope that works out well, better than explorable dungeons. Hopefully the years between release and now have taught ArenaNet how better to design PvE content.
As you can tell, I’m hopeful! Cautiously hopeful, but still.
I sure hope they have learned their lessons then, if they get it right..exciting times ahead of us haha.

I wasn’t being intentionally vague, I was just certain that people already knew about the issues surrounding PvE, didn’t think I had to elaborate much =P
Well you seem to think that your opinion is the same as everybody else. For exemple, a lot of people think that Fractal is good the way it is now. They just wanted a bit of revamp on the rewards and new maps.
Some people like how the world bosses work now. With Fractals and Raids being too hard for them, they love to casually fight big bosses. It’s not like there is a big community pressure on Anet to work on World Bosses right now.
Ehh when I was around that wasn’t the case. It seems like people just got tired of complaining because their complaints weren’t being heard. Hey guys. I’ve returned after a long hiatus, but I see that the glaring issues that have plagued the PvE scene since release are still around. Also seems like PvE in general has been abandoned.

Like, are they going to fix the glaring issues in dungeons? More support for Fractals and Dynamic Events? Can you be more vague?
- Dungeon. 99% sure they completely abandoned that. Their focus for PvE is now Fractal and Raids.
- What do your mean by support for fractals? They will expand them, change how it work a little and rework the rewards. Support for fractals??? I have no idea what you mean.
- Dynamic Events. What is wrong with them? Rework some of the world bosses to be a bit harder?
- Sad that they have abandoned dungeons.
- They haven’t received any updates since the last time I played..which was like 8 months ago.
- They haven’t added any new DE’s that are permanent or worth a kitten . And problems that have existed since release on some DE’s (Shatterer) still exist.
I wasn’t being intentionally vague, I was just certain that people already knew about the issues surrounding PvE, didn’t think I had to elaborate much =P

Thanks for the replies guys, I’ll take a look at a few videos on youtube but you’re all right. Would be best to just wait a bit for more info. Which, by the way, do any of you know when the next info dump will be?
DevilLordLaser
I’m a PvE’er. I do solo, group content, and dungeons. Right now my main is a Necro (don’t laugh at me). I run a few builds on my Necro depending on what I’m doing. Even though I’m not as useful as other classes in dungeons, I try lol. But anyway, that’s my aim. All around PvE content.
It could, but I highly doubt they would completely redesign the class this late in the game. Aside tweaks to numbers and such. Maybe I should rephrase my question.
As of right now, how would you say the Revenant holds up against the other Soldier professions?
So, I want to level a Soldier profession. It’s a toss up between Guardian or waiting for the Revenant. I’m not an altaholic, so I only like committing to two classes max. The thought of doing map completion more than twice just makes me >.<.
To those that have played the beta (or stress test), do you think the Revenant is worth the wait or should I go ahead and level a Guardian?
Hey all. As the title says, I’ve been gone from the game for a long time. Last time I REALLY played was 2012 Xmas events. I don’t remember at all builds or armor sets for Necromancers and how it all works.
Need a little help catching up to the new and refreshing my mind of the old. What gear/weapon sets should I go for? How do gems/infusions/sigils and all that jazz work? What would be the best PvE build for both solo and group/dungeon play? Best wep setups for said build. Also, is switching builds convenient or do I have to manually do it every time?

ANet have obviously never played MMO’s like WoW where acquiring legendary weapons actually have you out doing a raid and a legendary quest line instead of simply grinding 24/7 oh and having DR in the game just immediately makes me think they want us to just bot and afk and the other obvious motive getting us into the gem store.
If you want to craft a Legendary weapon you have to play every aspect of the game. WvW, dungeons, events …
In WoW all you have to do is RAID … nothing else
So first think about what you post
WoW example is really bad …
Everyone who thinks Legendary weapons are about grind are unpatient players who wants their Legendaries in 3 months. Legendary weapons are supposed to be long term goal (1+ year) IF YOU GRIND FOR IT, ITS ONLY YOUR CHOICE !!! Not anets
Who would you blame for working 2 jobs a day just because you are unpatient to wait few more months to buy a car and you want it now? YOURSELF.
DR is there to prevet grinding
They want you to enjoy game and simply play whats fun for you, but when you still want to grind because your are unwilling to wait few more months till you craft your Legendendary, its only your choice and you cant blame anyone but yourself … So please, act like an adult and take responsibility for your actions.
Ehhh…that’s actually not true. That you have to only raid to get the legendaries in WoW. Yes, before in vanilla and BC getting some of the legendaries just required raiding. Now though, you have to do some crafting and it has become a guild effort where every guildie needs to pitch in. Blizz atleast is learning and adapting, making it more challenging.
The actual playing of the game in GW2, dungeons, wvw, exploration etc. Is not hard and it takes like…a week. Then comes the massive grind, grinding for karma…grinding gold and the rest of the mats. It’s a big grindfest, doesn’t even have a storyline behind it which would make it more bearable or fun.
You know, it’s not only Anet that’s the problem. It’s also the players that accept this. In any other MMO, buying a legendary is a BIG no no. Legendaries are legendary for a reason. They are supposed to be hard to get, and be a personal gain for the player. Have time and effort and an emotional value if you will. Will give you a sense of accomplishment because you got something that’s really hard to get. First off, the way you can get them now (farming your kitten off/lots of gold) is stupid. It should have been a series of very hard personal quests in a way. By each passing quest you get an upgrade and so forth until you get the legendary (of course there will be expensive items that you will need). Make it a fun/challenging process not just a grindfest. But that’s just my opinion.
What’s a fact is that being able to sell legendary items makes it lose value in the sense that you won’t feel so accomplished in obtaining it the “hard” way. It’s just going to become another wep skin on the TP. It’s stupid. Where’s the fun if you’re not being challenged anymore? Dungeons aren’t hard, personal quests/dynamic events arent hard. There’s no challenge. This was one of the very few things that were “challenging” in the game, and now some kid with a fat wallet can have it. The skins are ugly to me (minus the greatswords) so I prob wouldn’t have gotten them, but it’s just the way Anet is handling things….it’s really making this a kittenty game.
I also can’t believe that players are fine with this. It really boggles my mind that people are cool with just buying everything. Where’s the fun in just buying everything? What happened to working for your gear and items and achievements? Like I said before, it’s not even about the items it’s the concept. That line of thinking and philosophy is going to ruin the game. But whatever, I’ll probably just get flamed by the fanbois.
(edited by Many Pesky Monk.3140)
Wheres that blog post they said would be posted? It’s been quite a few hours since those tweets from Martin.
Or, you know, you could find another game?
Well, I for one came here because GW2 did -not- have a silly ‘endgame’ that made all other content either obsolete or worthless as soon as your character reached maximum level.
The question is rather why don’t -you- play another game if you want that sort of content. It’s not that not pretty much every other MMO has a gear progression race, no? This game was advertised as being different, which is why I bought it. “Endgame” is a cuss word for me, you know? Is it too much asked for that the product I bought doesn’t do a bait and switch on me now and becomes just like every other MMO?
I was playing another game, I said that more so because every GW2 fanboi loves screaming that to players that don’t agree with their methods. Annoying when someone tells ya that, huh? Also, companys do those shifts you mentioned because the current philosophy just doesn’t keep players playing long term. Why would Anet want people to just leave and only come back when theres new kitten? No they want players playing all the time, just like any other gaming company. A gear treadmill is a way, albeit cheap, to keep players playing the game. And like I mentioned, can actually be fun if done right. That’s all.
I came to GW2 to get away from the gear treadmill. (Thanks WOW and SWTOR for burning me out!) This is terrible news for me, I thought Arena net “got it” about the gear treadmill thing…
Yeah they did “get it”. They learned that just playing the game for “fun” isn’t enough to keep people playing. There needs to be an incentive for players to run dungeons, events and to keep doing things. I assume they saw a drop in their active player list and decided to roll with this. It’s something that works. Just how it is. As long as they keep it away from PvP I only see a great benefit.
I’ll wait to see what it actually is before I hit the panic button. Hopefully it’s just a misunderstanding or poorly explained concept and not real power creep. If it is I guess we’ll just have to protest it vehemently and hope to get Anet to return to it’s original vision.
Or, you know, you could find another game?
I think this is a fantastic idea and if they back down from this, it will end badly. This game needs some kind of long term character progression goals. There are none. You can get the best items in a matter of days, finish all the current “endgame” in a matter of days as well. Then you have nothing to do, nothing to aim for. Although gear treadmills are kind of a cheap way of keeping people playing, they work. And if done right, it doesn’t feel like a chore or a grind, it can be fun. We’ll have to see how challenging and fun the new dungeon is. I’m very excited though.
Besides, this is for PvE only. If they added a gear treadmill to PvP…then you can QQ about it.

@ epicsmooth
You pve to get tokens to get skins.
You craft to get skins/gear
You PvP to get the cool looking pvp armors and for titles, rank etc (which are not implemented yet)
Pretty sure I mentioned this.
I have and do playTF2, did not know that it wasn’t F2P before. Must’ve been a while back. And yes, the crates and BLC are the same thing. BUT, what you can get in a crate you can also just buy. You’re not heavily reliant on crates for a chance at a rare, you can just go and buy it separately or buy a set of gear for your guy.
And being an MMO makes a BIG difference. MMO’s are all about progression, challenge, and getting rewarded after overcoming obstacles. Constantly playing/farming for whatever it is you want. FPS games you just play for kitten and gigs. That’s like comparing CoD to this game or WoW. kitten
(edited by Many Pesky Monk.3140)
@ Twilight Zone guy
It’s not about the skins per say, it’s about how they’re handling this. About the cash shop and it’s dirty ways. About having to gamble for a skin, potentially having to toss 100 bucks to get one or two. And how not everyone would be able to get them. This is just a holiday event, imagine anything else. An mmo with TF2’s cash shop is a very bad and scary thing. It would put any player off, except for these kitten riding fanboys.
Before anyone says “oh they’re skins, they’re optional gtfo”, the whole point of this game is getting skins/cosmetics. Once you’re 80 that’s what keeps most people going, the shinnies. Saying that people won’t or shouldn’t want them is honestly very stupid.
Just a kitten argument that fanboys spew out.
@ epicsmooth
Skins or cosmetics is the main point of this game. Make it difficult and stressful to obtain said items, people will complain. Holiday events are meant to be fun, we have enough gold sinks and craftables that take an insane amount of resources. So go ahead and be a blind fanboy, keep thinking the way they handle things is in the players best interest.
Btw, TF2 is a completely different game with a completely different aim. It is F2P, and a fun/goofy fps. Where you can get most of the good crap through long hours of playing anyway. I never heard of people crying about the cash shop there anyway since you knew what you were buying. This is an MMO. Different beasts.
Btw, 19 pages worth of complaints sound like a minority to you? People in my server are also up in arms. I’ve never seen a thread this hot before on the GW2 forums.
(edited by Many Pesky Monk.3140)
I am 100% confident that most, if not all, of you will forget about your “boycott” when the next event rolls around. Just like every other srsbsnz video game boycott, ever.
Swtor, aion, warhammer, TSW would like to have a word with you. History from past mmo’s show that when customers get displeased with a NEW mmo that they haven’t invested years worth of time in, they will drop that game like a bad habit no questions asked. I think Anet screwed the pooch on this one. I for one, am going back to WoW.
I remember when cash shops were first announced people got very worried. I now see why. The chest keys drop rate is something that has bothered me. 50 chests yet 2-4 keys from 1-80. Seemed fishy, guess I was right.
(edited by Many Pesky Monk.3140)
servers are FULL because they have the slots taken up by player accounts. its that simple. if a server is say, 1000 at cap, you have 1000 people making that server their home server. it doesnt mean its FULL it means its filled out its quota. it could still say its full yet only have 100 people active.
Wrong! Servers are listed as full/high/medium based on the active players not accounts created there. That’s why a server can be full on peak hours and drop to high during low activity times.
Actually, I believe you’re wrong. There was a discussion on that on these forums a while back and it was proven that the only reason they say high or full all the time, is because of the amount of players that have made it their home server not player activity. The server could be empty as kitten but it would still say high or full. But whatever.
(edited by Many Pesky Monk.3140)
kitten dude, word for word I agree with everything you said. It’s exactly how I feel.
A silly question perhaps, but do you think these weapon skins will stick around after Halloween?
I’m 100% sure they will stick around after Halloween. As a Necro, I’m pumped for this. I foresee some awesome possibilities =D.
I have no care for RP or multi fashion runway shows, but I do support the idea because I understand where you who are the RPers and costume fanatics come from. (I do like cosmetics myself hence my major debate on allowing cross-armor cosmetic trasmutes). I hope the idea gets implemented.
Well it’s not so much about being an RPer. It’s just that once you transmute an armor skin, the previous is destroyed. So you better not be planning on changing from your cultural armor since it costs 100+ gold. Or changing from dungeon armor ever since it costs a good amount of tokens/dungeon runs. You would have to re farm that up if you want the skins again. But yeah, I hope it gets implemented too. Would be so awesome ^.^
Yeah, i think they went for this system as opposed of one similar to LOTRO’s wardrobe in the hopes to boost microtransactions. But I’d say having buyable tabs for cosmetic overlays like in lotro could be more lucrative and liked by the player base, because it’s a permanent improvement that can be be bought ad infinitum, and gives a sense of horizontal progression as you diversify your looks. It’s a win/win imo.
Another option would be a way to automatically swap gear, like equipment tabs. So you’re not only swapping looks, but you’re swapping your gear for different situations. You can even make it look like the archetype you’re building with those stats, by using the current transmutation system. You could unlock those tabs with skill points, which would give you increased flexibility as you level past 80, more horizontal progression to you char. That would work very well with saved builds. I’ll have to make a separate post about this suggestion someday.
I would love the auto swap. But because of the transmutation stones, which are micro transactions, I doubt that would happen. But a locker like thing for different sets would be awesome, even if you needed the stones to swap. Would be super awesome. I mean the “endgame” of this game is collecting armor sets/skins, I find it odd that they didn’t include a wardrobe of sorts.
Make an Armor Collector NPC, a Weapon Collector NPC and a Costume Collector NPC in race towns that will save all the styles your account has unlocked. Something similar to the Rewards NPC from HoM. Talking to these NPCs will let you chose what ever skins you like to transmute. Also, they can save space by transmuting all in one click not piece by piece. The prices for the skins will be either free if the transmuting stones are still usable, or it may cost gems / golds / stones depending on what pleyer wants to use for it
I think this is a great idea.
The PvE/PvP split was the most amazing and innovative thing I’ve ever seen in an MMO. It boggles my mind that this game lacks this feature, which is supposed to be better than it’s predecessor. I really really really hope it will be added in the near future. It will be an immense fix to one of the many problems this game has. Time will tell I suppose. But, nonetheless, I approve of this! Bring back the split kitten
its a crap boring game. too hard or too easy, almost never balanced, repair cost too much. maps too big and cost of traveling too high. dont tell me to quit,i play rarely anyway. i was waited for gw2 for years. now i just wait for soul&blade
Completely agree with everything you said, I mean I loved the game when I was leveling up. But now…not so much. I haven’t logged on in quite a bit. I waited for this game since it was announced, I feel like I got kicked in the sack. Oh well. I sure do hope that they fix/address all these problems though. So much potential this game has.
Scouts tell you why you are killing x and collect x. Is that lore good enough for you? These quests will eventually do the same thing. Or do you hate reading NPC text?
Here are some alternatives.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Personal_storyline
It’s very limited and not lore at all, just a reason as to why centaurs are attacking and why we need to collect/kill x. They are also extremely easy to do, takes like 5 mins max to complete a heart. I’m talking about REAL quests/missions. Look at runescapes questing system. That’s what I’m talking about.
Personal storyline ends, I said these quests would be like side quests and would compliment the main story in a way. The “side quests” will be difficult, challenging, fun and rewarding. They can also be out right goofy at times.
Dungeons…no
Dynamic events are just big scale zergs most of the time. As of right now, after a while they get tedious and are done just to farm karma.
I think we have something like this. It sounds familiar.
Oh yeah…
Well thanks for telling me that you didn’t read my post at all.
Hearts are just kill x and collect x for the most part. I said real quests/missions where theres an in depth story, it’s difficult, challenging, fun and rewarding. It would compliment DEs, personal story and hearts. Something extra to do either solo or with a group. It would be the side quests of the GW2 universe. Please, read my post before posting that.

I think it would’ve been a good idea for them to implement extra skills for like staffs, rifles, swords etc. Like, the same way you can swap skills on your 6-10 bars, you should have been able to do the same for your weapon abilities so it doesn’t get stale and so it can add variety.
No one thinks this would be a good addition to this game?
Now, don’t get your jimmies rustled when I say quests. Don’t think quests like…kill x amount of this, collect x amount of that etc. We already have that in a sense, the Hearts. When I say quests (or missions), I mean quests that are actually quests. Something along the lines of the ones in Runescape where there’s actually an in depth story, where it’s difficult, challenging, engaging, fun, and rewarding. Quests that can take either minutes, hours or even days to complete. They can unlock/reward special crafting recipes. Special armor/weapon sets, vanity items, mini pets. Maybe some new puzzles, and much more.
After you finish the personal story, there’s only DEs, PvP and dungeons to do. There’s no more story like things to do. This would be an extra thing to do and would encourage exploration as well. It could be added alongside our personal story. Like, our personal story can be our “main” objective and the quests can be something on the side you can do alongside DEs. GWs side quests in a way. Hell, maybe make it that you have to obtain some items from certain DE bosses. Or that you have to beat a certain DE chain to unlock the “quest/mission giver”. Make it unique.
They should be added regularly, like in RS. I’m not saying to completely copy what they have, but look at their model and improve on it. Make it fit into the GW2 universe. In my opinion, RS has the best questing system in any mmo. It’s just fun to do and complete. Since this game is all about fun, I thought it can be a good idea.
What do you guys think? Would also be nice to see what a mod thinks ^.^
Edit: I’m not too familiar with the lore of this game, but you can use some of the lore to add to the quests/missions. Make them relevant to the world in a way, and some can be just pure fun and goofy.

I made like two threads about this and not one single comment…makes me feel sad. But well, atleast this thread is getting recognition! It should be like the pvp armor locker that is in this game already. Just make it for the pve armors and weapons.
The point of the “endgame” in this game is cosmetics. Would only make sense that you can collect them, would give people something else to do. Collect sets even if they won’t use them. Players play longer, we have something else to do and no stress about having to farm up the same armor set. Win win imo.
I agree with the OP. Most MMO’s like WoW mask their grind with certain tasks. This game has a massive amount of in your face grind, it’s not even funny. Grind the hell out of dungeons for tokens for gear, grind out karma for legendaries and other gear, etc etc. And the best part is, they are not rewarding! Because of diminishing returns, you get kitten karma. For dungeons, when it starts working properly, it will be fine. But..DR on events…seriously? Dungeons don’t drop anything noteworthy either. There’s also all the gold sinks in the game, it’s ridiculous. The social aspect of the game is also kitten. OP is right, you don’t make friends in this game. It plays like a single player game in an online universe rather than an mmo. Mmos useto be reknown because of their social aspect…that doesn’t exist in this game.
I’ve quit the game for now. Until they fix all their issues I won’t be logging in. Borderlands 2 is a thing though XD.
But a suggestion I have is this…create an armor locker for your pve armor skins like what we have available for your pvp armor skins. The whole point of grinding out all this karma, gold, and tokens is for the armor skins. You better kitten well plan on keeping that certain skin forever, because when you want to look different, your current skin gets destroyed. So, why not have an armor skin locker where you can save all the sets your find? That way, you can switch skins whenever you like. Assuming you have the item to do so.

So wait a minute, you only get tokens at the end of the dungeon? So what if you have to leave, or if you get kicked or replaced for whatever reason. You don’t get rewarded any tokens at all? What type of kitten is that?
That has to be, the worst dungeon reward design I have ever seen in any video game. I think I’ll be buying MoP and wait until this game gets everything sorted out before playing again. Too many flaws for me, I feel like I’m still testing this game. It’s a shame because I fell in love while leveling.
Leaderboard type system and achievements for dungeons.

I was reading about the WoW’s challenge modes and how it will have guild/server leaderboards. I think something SIMILAR (for those that will bash me about incorporating a WoW feature) should be implemented. The only thing left to really do after you obtain all the skins/gear you want from dungeons is PvP. One way to keep people running dungeons, is to add some kind of competition to the table.
I think this would be a great way for dungeons to stay fun and interesting. Players should also be rewarded a little better. Like achievements for completing runs a certain way or defeating bosses in a certain way as well.
For example, not dieing on a certain encounter or not completely wiping on any of the bosses. Dodging out of a certain bosses ability (not getting hit the entire encounter), finding something hidden/cool etc. Add maybe a little gold/item reward. These are little things and ways that would keep players running the dungeons, more for fun out of anything else and for the challenge of getting the achievements.
Doing things just “for fun” doesn’t exist in rpg’s, let alone mmorpgs. The fun that comes from playing an rpg, mmo or otherwise, comes from character progression, challenging content, and rewards/gear/loot/gold etc. Running long and difficult dungeons, just to reach the end and not get properly rewarded is extremely discouraging. 9/10 times, most players would not run the dungeon again knowing they wouldn’t get rewarded for their hard work. This isn’t mario kart.
Oddly enough, this game makes it so easy for people to cooperate that its the first (of many) mmos where I have not met and made a solid group of online friends in… it seems like the removal for the need of proper greeting and such makes the process much much harder.
This exactly.
Dude…did you not read a thing I said? Yes, you do get together with other people and do events, it’s part of the game. But you don’t HAVE to group up, like join a party and just do things together. Because you don’t have to and it really isn’t required at all, people avoid it and just go about their business.
It seems like you are saying you want the game to force you to group up. I think a lot of people wouldn’t like that. If you really need a game to FORCE you to be social then that is your own fault…learn how to talk to people on your own without being forced to do it.
I have grouped with my guild to do large world events sometimes, have made friends in dungeons, and have talked to people in map chat while leveling. It obviously isn’t a fault in the game if some people are having a social experience and some aren’t.
Well then you’re misunderstanding. You shouldn’t be forced to be social, you should be ENCOURAGED to be social. In this game, you are not. And stop with the insults dude, I posted this to have a discussion with others and quite frankly you’re pissing me off implying that I’m anti social and don’t know how to interact with others. Talking on map chat does not = socializing. That’s not what I mean. I’m talking about a community of players. You keep misunderstanding what I’m saying. People know each other and make friends by grouping up out in the world doing quests or in this case “events”. Helping each other out. By making everything automatic, it has eliminated that. No need to actually group up, because the game does it for you. No need to actually interact, because the game rewards you for reviving and helping others. People do these things out of their benefit, not because they actually want to group up. It’s an isolated experience.
