Don’t forget stuff like this, I wonder if we’ll ever see the city-based activities that “were in the game” during 2010 and “will be there at launch”.

It feels like a bunch of broken promises and the whole “one step forward, two steps back” deal with Anet as of late. (and by “as of late” I mean the last 5 months)

My “give anet some time” meter is running really kitten low now.

I’m seriously considering The Elder Scrolls…

That or just heading over to Eq2 and f2p.

Don’t get me wrong, I really have a soft spot for this game, my friends keep me coming back, I love the lore and the game itself really is beautiful.

But there’s only so much looks can do for you.

I really want them to fix the issues, because I really want to stay, but I can’t stand 6 more months of the same bugs.

Ill tell you why we’re mad…

Because I’m getting a stupid quaggan backpack and a kitten flying broom, plus a bunch of shiny useless crap instead of fixing actual bugs and balancing in the game.

(AND I know that Anet is split into different teams for things, like there’s a group that works for pvp, there’s dungeon designers and so on, but it just doesn’t look good when your game is basically broken and you keep pumping out shiny things as if that’s what’s going to keep you interested.)

However, I’ll speak as a Fractal frequenter…

It still sucks, completely. Balancing is terrible, there’s bugs everywhere. I believe it’s kitten kittening sad that in order to play through the higher fractals the only way to get through them was through exploits…

I’m done with Fractals. I’m done, they’re not worth it anymore. Much like how I feel about this game. And it’s sad, because at release I really enjoyed the game, and I enjoy the people I play with. Made some good friends so far, and i feel like they’re the only thing keeping me here.

Oh, and stop giving out precursors and multiple exotics to the few people who actually made it to the end of the event!

It would be nice to have the option to participate in the one-time events through out the day.

It already happens in the overflows. Have each server run the event at a different time?

And make it so that you can only get the items one time…

There problem solved. Run the event for 24 hours at different times through out different servers/overflows.

You’re really starting to lose me, if this kitten isn’t fixed by christmas I’m going to go back to minecraft.

It is ridiculous the amount of people that are getting shafted because of this one-time event idea.

It really doesn’t seem like Arena Net is ready for events like these to happen.

Not only are the servers destroyed when everyone is trying to log in at the same time, but the event itself was ridiculously buggy/broken from the get go.

To add insult to injury… the last couple one-time events that were released weren’t even that “one-timey”. The entire event could have repeated itself without being game breaking. Sure.. it messes with the story just a little, so it’s not as “immersive” as it was originally intended…

But the immersive-ness is already COMPLTELY ruined for me by lag, bugs and disconnections.

Stop doing the one time events…

And stop trying to pump out events so quickly.

Focus on the game and fixing all the issues it’s having right now. I don’t mind waiting a few extra months for a well executed event. You’re trying to pump out all these shiny-pretty fun things to us…

Just stop and focus on the game, please, it has enough things to be fixed as it is.

I feel like things are a little better, but at the same time I’m a tad bit sad that those people who managed to get it the first time around don’t get that distinction now.

I feel relief, regardless. I was pretty fumie when I thought that none of us would have had a chance at it because of the lack of announcement.

Why would you want to re-roll a character because you die once?
Im not quite sure if we are talking about the same achievement here. But the “Lifetime Survivor” achievement under the “Hero” tab just resets your current exp to 0 when you die. It does not matter how often you die. Upon death, your current exp goes to 0 and you start from scratch, but in no way does it prevent you from completing the achievement.

The only confusing part could be, that the progress bar shows the furthest achieved exp, not the current exp, so it may appear, that after a death, the exp does not count towards the achievement, but it does and will be visible, once you get past the furthest exp.

That’s the one I’m talking about.
So you know this for sure? It’s not like in guild wars one where it was done if you died?

We also just noticed that they took a whole lot of our achievement points…

So now my fiance (along with a good few friends of mine and I), who has been looking forward to this since the first day of launch, is stuck on his main, who is his favorite, and has his favorite name, has tonnes of karma saved up and a nice full set of awesome armor… and he was on his way to game completion, doing all of his achievements diligently , except for lifetime survivor..

Now, we were all under the impression that this was one of those things that was going to stay broken for a while because it’s been broken for so long and our guild figured it would be announced when it was fixed. So dying wasn’t much of an issue at all.

Turns out it was fixed on this patch, and nothing was said. So a lot of us can’t get it now.

He’s considering re-rolling it simply to get it now.

I don’t know.

I’m kind of pissed nothing was said. And would actually really like it if they rolled the achievement back… but that’s just me.

It would be nice for us to get a heads up on things like achievements being fixed or removed or anything like that. Especially ones like Lifetime Survivor…

EDIT: Seems like things aren’t as they seem.

Every time you die, it resets to 0. You need something like 250,000 exp points to finish it off. You can get that at any time, even after 80 since they don’t cap your exp gain.

They list your previous best attempt as the number above the bar. That’s not where your at, but the furthest you’ve gotten toward your goal.

I was expecting a gallery of everyones work along with the winners announced by now.

Still nothing about it.

I think they should put up a builing site there so it looks like people are building a new statue. and then when christmas caomes and a new special event there will be some way to recreate the statue. that would be awesome.

This is an AWESOME idea!

After the disaster everyone comes together to rebuild it, and just every week or every two weeks you see a progression.

Then by Christmas the statue is brand new, and ready for the celebrations!

I’m hoping they keep it that way. I prefer this over a once a day chest..

It’s gone and completely ruined.

It would be cool to see another Lion statue take it’s place. One that looks the same, but with slight differences. Maybe the mane looks a bit darker, or the position is slightly altered.

Unless, of course, this is all the cause of funky-magic candy corn that was mixed in with something else and caused the entire world to hallucinate. Hallucinogenic candy corn… hmph. Possible.

Dear Anet team,

I wanted to apologize for being kind of snooty and angry at you guys and gals about the event timing.

I thought it was going to be a one time even thing where no one would be able to participate. I was especially upset because I thought I would not be able to do this with my fiance since he has to work.

I realize now that its something that we can all watch it on youtube, and the actual fun part of the event is available to all of us regardless of timezone and location.

I don’t know why I had it in my head that you guys were going to rip off thousands of players… ): I’m sorry though.

You guys are better than that, and I should have realized that. After all, you’re the guys who made the game.

Again, I’m sorry for being angry. Even if you don’t respond, I hope you read this. I mean it all wholeheartedly. <3

The mail thing is a bad idea.

I’m not likely to answer a stranger who accuses me of being a bot. I’m just going to read it , say “wtf” and ignore it.

Also, half the time I’m playing my mail is overflowing. I’ll miss it, most likely.

Bot spotting is incredibily easy. The follow a very strict pattern and do it for hours. Humans cannot do that.

Their movements just /look/ funny.

I think the best bet is educating the public about botting and what to look for.

As well as the dangers of buying gold or matts, and how the act of doing so could lead to identity theft, trojans.. and even the hacking of your account for the purpose of botting.

Except for Anet is an American company. Why would they display times for a country that they aren’t in?

I think the whole thing on either side is kind of silly (read my previous post to this) but I feel like it is common courtesy.

Also, GMT is used universally.

Your argument would stand ground if Anet was an american company who’s sole focus was the US, and people from the outside were using US servers.

However, it’s not, so it would be courteous of them to offer GMT.

At the same time, it’s a simple as learning a time conversion.

But it’s the idea of one guy in the office typing in GMT vs. thousands learning conversions.

Yeah, I am a pretty frequent forum poster and I didn’t mean to spam the topic. Normally I am the edit champ revising posts 3 times after I submit them, but for some reason the forum is really slow for me to edit.

It’s late and I’m overly excited about this topic for no reason. Honestly I’m not against them posting it in GMT… I am against people claiming it is difficult to figure out time zones when it isn’t. And besides, no one really had a definite time, all we knew in the US was that it would be “sometime in the evening PST”, they actually came out and said “after midnight GMT” which is actually more of a bone than they threw US players.

About the time, it’s more a convenience for the users than anything else. Anet broke a norm and it’s causing a bit of confusion. People could go out oftheir way and learn how to do conversions, or Anet could simply announce things GMT as well.

It’s a no brainer or either side. :P Don’t worry about being grumpy and get some sleep.

The fact of the matter is that either side could make the initiative to go out of their way to do a little change.

It’s just that if Anet does it, they’d be doing thousands of players a quick favor, whereas if they don’t, those thousands are going to have to (individualy) go out of their way to figure out conversions, which isn’t a pain in the kitten but it’s an extra step they have to take.

No one likes extra steps.

For example, I hate going into my bag to equip my mater-meeter, I kinda wish we had an extra slot somewhere in the UI for food or holiday equips like those, but we don’t so I have to go that extra step.

At the end of the day, I’m complaining about an extra click I have to do to get something… kind of ridiculous, isn’t it?

But it is what it is.

Look maybe I am biased, but I used to work with international clients every day, and every day I had to do conversions to ensure I was timely to phone meetings and such. It is not hard.

I understand maybe doing it for one day, and they were nice enough to not do it on the 31st (when a lot of us will be out doing stuff, most likely)

But a LOT of us have work and school, along with other things to do on our day to day… and what about the people on the other side of the world that are going to be sleeping?

This needs to be addressed by a dev, I don’t want details on the event, I don’t want to know exactly what’s going to happen, I just want clarification on the times… is it going to be an ongoing thing on the 28th or are they’re really going to pull that “one-time only” crap.

Because if it’s going to be an on going thing (once every 3 hours or what ever they decide) then it’s fine… we don’t need exact times, we just need to know when it starts and when it ends.

But if they’re going to the one time thing we deserve to know exactly when it’s going to happen… :/

So when are we going to hear about the winners, or at least an update on what’s going on with this?

Will it be announced or are we going to get contacted privately about it?
