Other than players that use the ANET design, am I the only player that thinks attacking while stealth’d and staying stealth’d is stupid? GW2 is the only MMO where someone can attack from stealth, go back to stealth or stay in it due to kitten poor programing and exploits… do the dev’s even know this.. do they even play anymore?
Its the way anet appears to want stealth to work, my inference is they want to do something different to other games and stubbornly refuse to acknowledge that their version of stealth is arguably the worst in any online game on the market.
Couldnt disagree more, stealth in this game is not some stupid 60 second cooldown that makes you walk slower out of combat, you have to sacrifice resources to even use it, that 6 seconds of stealth can cost a thief all of his initiative, initiative that could have been used for attacking instead, if you dodge or block the backstab the thief just used all of his resources for nothing.
For other classes stealth is easier, just fire and forget cooldowns, but they still have to sacrifice a utility slot or burn cooldowns on combo fields.
(On an unrelated note how do you manage to die vs a trap thief, do you stand still and wait out the condi stacks???)
Only stealth attacks with #1, it seems more useful for hybrid builds than power builds.
1. roamers are almost always thieves which take 0 skill to get a kill with
2. roamers almost always try to gank people
3. roamers target people who want nothing to do with youbasically no one likes you because you’re annoying
Try playing a thief yourself, see how easy you get kills then
1. Just give us better rewards please, reward tracks? unique weapons? anything.
2. I’m fine with a megaserver as long as we get something like server alliances that allows us to keep server identity, otherwise its EotM and everybody is a stranger you will never see again. Maybe make those server alliances seasonal for re-balancing purposes.
3. The desert borderlands need to be made smaller, this is part of the reason people don’t go there, it has very good aesthetic design but towers are irrelevant because they can’t hit any keep.
4. If you aren’t going to give us more gold income, let us buy WvW only food and utility with badges of honor.
Well having a straight 50% less point score on night time will do the trick, since these points is gathered while others is not even in the game.
Whose night time?
Who cares? Night players don’t even deserve to contribute right? Just turn off all points when its night at SEA
I dont know if this has been said before but the reason people hate condi builds is because they are low risk, high reward. They can afford to to take defensive traits while sacrificing little damage, when power builds tale those they sacrifice a lot of their damage.
Also power builds have to sacrifice defensive stats for ferocity, (thiefs are also forced to run precision) while condi builds can use both toughness and vitality, condi duration is not necessary and even counterproductive when conditions are being cleansed.
All this means that condi players can afford to make many more mistakes than a power build all while doing similar damage.
TL:DR: Condi builds are much more forgiving than regular builds so bad players flock to them
There is a problem wvw has had ever since launch; it doesn’t have enough rewards built in, so most new players trying out the game mode don’t stay because it doesn’t feel rewarding enough, veteran players have to leave WvW and play PvE maps because WvW is not self sustainable, and playing competitively costs enough money that it is actually a gold sink.
So here’s my idea:
Defending:
Everytime you kill someone near an objective you own, you gain “Defender’s resolve”, it stacks and ends 2 minutes after you last kill someone, when it ends you get a reward based on the number of stacks you had when it ended. Only 1 stack per unique player can be active on you.
Attacking:
Everytime you kill someone near an enemy objective you gain “Raider’s fervor”, it stacks and it is consumed when you capture the objective, you get a reward based on the number of stacks and the type of objective, so for camps the stacks are capped at 10 and towers at 50, etc.
This encourages zergs to seek eachother, steal and contest caps, and disentivizes colluding and capping empty towers. it also rewards defenders, even if they dont succed in fending off a zerg they still get rewarded.
The rewards could be like pvp reward tracks (or gold), but I personally like the idea of champion bags that have a chance to drop weapons with unique wvw skins, maybe make the weapons sellable on the tp and offer an upgrade that you can buy with a lot of badges of honor, just a suggestion.
Knowingly (key word) interrupting a duel doesn’t prove anything, it doesn’t make you better, or cooler, and it doesn’t really help your server.
Thing is (speaking for myself at least) – being cool, better or helping the server isn’t why I do it. I simply find it entertaining to attack enemies. Under all circumstances. And I play the game for my own entertainment.
People duel for the same reasons, they like challenging duels where they can gain experience and improve from fights, losing an ordinary fight means you have to walk all the way back and you probably won’t find whoever beat you, going to OS means you won’t be able to continue what you were doing before you started dueling and other people won’t know you are dueling so they won’t join in.
In my server zergs are polite enough to ignore duels and we let people like OP die if they feel like interrupting people.
I am honestly done with this game, this game didn’t need a profession with aoe reveal on a 20 second cooldown, and a skill that single handedly makes engineer a better stealth profession than thief (with better team support), thief has no class identity anymore and nothing other professions can’t do better (SB 5 is barely better than all the mobility revenant and the other elites got and they aren’t penalized in survivability or damage as thief is).
I can not play this game anymore just to see other classes do more single target AND aoe damage than we can do with a backstab and with less thought and effort (DH traps, Revenant hammer 2 with 1200 range and with a 2 second cooldown).
This will probably be my last post because I am incredibly dissapointed with the state of the game and just playing it makes me mad, it was fun outplaying people with a high skill cap class but this is just masochism at this point and just being a thief is just a straight up disadvantage.
I absolutely love all the random reveals they have added into the game, stealth needed way more counterplay, I mean it wasn’t like standing on black powder fields and denying long lasting stealth by denying the hearthseeker combo was enough, and dont even get me started on Shadow refuge, who could be bothered to include knockbacks in their builds and high damage nukes? When I see a thief on the enemy team all I have to use is one skill to skillfully counterplay it. It really has added a new depth to stealth and game mechanics.
I mean it really wasn’t like mesmers, the one class in the game that had no counterplay in their stealth was the class who needed stealth the least. I can rest assured these game designers know what they are doing and can finally delete my thief with no worries that it will ever be useful again.
Bump, still not fixed
I also want to know this, maybe a mystic forge recipe?
Chill out guys
:)
Would you say reaper GS… has no chill?
