i did use the cliche Staff + Scepter/Torch combo for this build for a while in fact I’ve Been using it before the big 3 GM trait specialization Changes to the game

0/6/2/0/6 or 0/6/0/2/6 (torment shatter)

However now i use the Sword/Torch + Scepter/Pistol for a more expertise finesse.
not to mention with the pistol i can Proc that extra 5-8 stacks of confusion on interrupt more frequently.

Its a lot harder and a bit trickier to successfully pull off compared to the Staff + Scepter/torch, but the payout is very worth it.

So i made a really funny LoL condi build that actually seems pretty viable for WvW roaming.

Basically its Settlers Heavy with Some Dire/Rabid. I put the minimum amount of Healing power from Settlers (600+) in order for the Death Magic XIII (unholy Sanct) to tick for at least 200 a sec. Also, i dont know if it’s a glitch or not. But Unholy Sanct will heal for an extra bit of health that seems equivalent to the total amount of health healed while in Death Shroud, when you exit Death Shroud.

The focus on the fight is attrition mainly as your dmg is mostly from fears, bleeds, and confusion stacks. The build is heavily focused on the staff due to its Ranged Life Force Regenerating capabilities. To stay alive you basically squeeze in as many Death Shrouds in between your heals & your plague. All while getting those fears in to interrupt your foe and get that confusion stack up.

As for the Last Utility in the build, you the player is open to chose whatever utility you wish to use. I often switch out between Well of Power, Spectral Armor, Blood is Power, Corrupt Boon, or Signet of Undeath/Spite.

As for the Traits.
In Soul Reaping You can switch out Soul Marks (X) for Path of Midnight (III) if you plan on running with the zerg. Since your Life Force will regen instantly from all those zerg kills, you can Substitute (X) for a lower CD on your DS skills with (III)

Anyway enjoy your LoL moments as you fear somone & then watch them kill themselves with confusion while you regen hp in DS. It’s a ridiculous combo for a mediocre Condi Dmg. Like i said the fight is all about attrition, but you’ll be surprised by how quickly you can burn someone down after you apply confusion on someone.

December 10th Warrior Changes

IMO the nerf to Hammer cc dmg is needed. I hate the idea myself as i have recently crafted an ascended hammer for my warrior, but coming from the perspective of playing a different class going against a hammer warrior i am looking forward to these changes. The 20% nerf is going to make the hammer cc abilities hit as hard as an auto attack. and from a hammer warriors perspective, the auto attack from hammer can hit pretty hard (my auto attack on the hammer crits from 2-3k while the auto attack from my gs crits from 1.3k-2k)

With the upcoming changes, ill be missing my epic 16k crit disable chains from my warrior. However this is GW2. There are other classes to play & have fun with and it seems like the devs are trying to encourage players to level up/play other classes rather than just sticking to one specific class.

yes. counter cc & burst dps. or multi-fast condi application can counter us pretty bad. our utilities usually consist of 2 condi droppers & usually 1 stun break/stability. hence the x & y warrior. some warriors roll with all condi dropping & 0 stability. or the z warrior using offensive utilities but that usually means he/she has less condi drops & maybe a stunbreak/stability. to really counter a warrrior apply as much pressure on him/her and study his/her moves. watch for boons & keep track of your applied condi and see how he/she reacts when you use a cc ability on him/her. they should all give you clues as to what he/she is using on his/her bar.

sorry i want to keep this discussion open to all the sexes. we are a happy group of people.

BTW when you see a warrior using axe or gs. it means they don’t have any cc abilities. keep that in mind. all other weapons will cc you. that’s pretty much the message

I just use my warrior to fight other warriors. That’s the best solution. A well played warrior simply can’t be beaten by any other class if the other person is at the same skill level. Warrior is godmode now.

as an ex-guardian this is sad but true. Warrior has an easy skill cap. and most of the classes that you mention to be your favorites have a pretty high skill cap. So in reality you can’t really judge the x-build warrior you’ve encountered because it could be quite possible that you counter the y-build warrior. The reason for warriors easy skill cap is that almost all the branches in the grand master tree affect the F1 skill button or your profession specific abilities. that being said. figure it out.

Some adjust are needed, but i will leave it here. Volley and killshot co-efficients are taken from wiki

1. Bleeding shot – make it the same as harpoon gun 1:
0-400 range current damage, 400-800 +50% from current, +800 a +100% dmg from current. Remove bleed.
Its actually makes sense as rifle is a range weapon after all, and has counter – getting closer to us.

2. Aimed shot – double its damage at range 400 or lower. (Personally i still think that its should apply chill but leave the cripple as it is)

3. Nerf base damage of volley by 20%. Reduce co-efficients by 0.25% (current 3.00).
I think its neccessary due to buffing #1 and 2.

4. Brutal shot – increase cd to 18sec, reduced casttime to 3/4, 1sec stun, keep vul, a bit easier to see animation to see its coming from miles to keep it balanced. I see it as set up skill

5. Rifle butt – change to launch.
People definitely recovers too fast from knockback to increase distance a bit from them.

F1 – Our master, mr Killshot:
-reduce base damage by 20%
-reduce co-efficients by 0.25% (lets face it, it scales too good in current state. Current 3.25 at lv3)
-reduce casttime to 3/4sec
-add a target icon on foe from “on my mark” shout for casttime

After these nerfs to killshot its should be like evi, but ranged.

so you’re basically saying. give rifle more sustained dps & drop its current state of burst dps every cd. I kinda like the idea. means less weaponswapping for me

oh & btw. LB untraited has a range of 1k yds. traited it gets 1.2k like the rifle. check again

well. i know i should really be rolling around with a x/shield + hammer or GS weapon set when i go 0/10/30/0/30. However when i did do this i found myself at the mercy to ranged/caster classes even when traited shield mastery or missile deflection. people are just smart and know that a warrior pulling out a shield means he’s coming in to setup a chain. so they just play defensively while i run hoplessly around trying to melee tag them as they slowly pick me off.

So i decided i should pick up a ranged weapon instead of the shield+x so i could actually counter ranged classes by putting some pressure back on them from a distance.

i’ve tried rifle/gs and i found that 0/30/20/0/20 or 0/30/25/0/15 to be the best for this weapon combo. either way i found myself relying heavily on the rifle and only using the GS to gain a peel however. but for this combo the only control i have is the GS 4 and the Rifle 2. and it’s not enough to apply pressure on my target.

as for LB i find it works well with GS and the bola utility to get in nice a 100b twice every 20 secs (LB 5 for the 2nd or first 100b)but a lot of classes i’ve been running into while roaming counter the immobilize condition especially necros when they flip it back on me. so i scratched that off my list

then i tried Hammer/LB which is alright but doesn’t work too well with the gear im running with since im in all beserkers cept a few PPT trinkets and LB is really a Condi ranged weapon. So what’s my other choice for ranged?

DA RIFLE! paired with the hammer i get 2 cleaving knockbacks. 2 burst abilities that can crit for high dmg. & 2 crippling moves. however since im rolling 0/10/30/0/30, my main focus is going to be my hammer since that’s where this build shines. I mainly just use the rifle to get a nice clean kill shot after i knock them back with my hammer 4 or rifle 5. Or lets say my foe escapes my disable chain from my hammer and gets a peel. ill switch to rifle and apply some pressure as i try to close the gap then switch to hammer and start my disable chain again. which is great because when my foe see’s me pull out my rifle & start shooting them with it…. their usual instinct is “oh he’s using ranged, maybe i should move into melee range to counter him” so they instinctually set themselves up for my hard melee chain. if they decide to keep their distance, i just keep gunning them down while i get into melee range. so far i’ve only lost to a ranger once and that’s cuz he kept sending his pet back to block my rifle shots while he kept his distance and pegged me down with arrows.

Condi? (esp torment/confusion) i just use the rifle killshot with cleansing ire & since i don’t move or use any other abilities while channeling killshot i barely get scratched. However since my weapon combo is rifle/hammer & not LB/x i cant afford to keep a nice distance between me and my foe when i want to burst & drop condi. My priority is mainly to stay in the hammer burst range incase my killshot does fail so i can switch to my hammer & quickly drop my condis on the fly. This isn’t necessarily a run in and run out guerilla style play like a lot of warriors like to do in wvw. its mainly focused on picking off squirrels and other solo roamers which is what i find myself doing a lot since zerg battles don’t really feel epic unless you pull a 300 and demolish your outnumbered foes.

I don’t like the cliche style of fighting that most warriors use in wvw where you run in. pick a fight, realize you’re not gonna win, & then zoom! run away. I’ve tried it and while it’s fun to stay alive, it’s depressing to know that deep down inside i just wasted everyones time. To me that doesn’t scream warrior. It screams kittens. I want to stay and fight to the end and grow big hairy man chest hair while im doing it. Fight to the end and win often is my style and with hammer/rifle i get that a lot. I guess it’s a personal preference. I fell in love with it when i got a 5k hammer # 5 crit followed by a 13k kill shot crit on a thief that opened up with a backstab on me. i could feel his tears behind the computer screen.

well. im currently using 0/10/30/0/30 (Hammer/x)

i find rifles strong points are in the crits. not the dot. just like hammers strong points are in the crits as well. so the synergy is nice. i can do dmg while im on downtime gaining distance on them. then when im close i switch to hammer & disable chain them. it either kills them or they peel with stun breakers. but thanks to having a ranged offset i can reset. use 5 if i need to. gain a clean shot with kill shot since really all you need with a rifle is 30 in discipline for burst mastery. because thats 10% * 30% extra crit dmg. + 3% dmg per boon on target. lol at guardians.
you also get cleansing ire when you kill shot. so its nice to have a multipurpose burst of dmg every 7 secs. however LB is a better weapon for burst cleansing, but i just cant find any synergy with LB/Hammer. feels awkward and less advantageous since LB has a 200 yd less range than the range of a rifle. you need to trait for LB in tactics to make the range on par with the rifle which IMO is a waste.

basically when i get a kill shot off they’ll either be otfd (on the floor dieing) or close to dead which i can follow with a number 3. or they’re smart & reset & get away. which can lead to chases on foot that end in failure. but hey you cant win all the fights you encounter in this game. no builds perfect. we’re not that over powered right? we all gotta qq about something.

i get beat up by d/d eles cuz they can burst in and peel fast and reset after whatever dmg i was able to do in that lil time frame because i like using a healing signet.

beserker necros with their staff auto attack critting for 3k is fun too. did i forget marks? no they dont hurt.. can’t really think of any other class to qq about since getting fair 1v1 encounters is pretty rare with the new season up.

aren’t i great? see this is what boredom leads to when you got nothing to do while you wait for class cuz you signed up for college too late. so in between the class gaps you sit in the library and mooch of their computer and write stuff on the forums to get a lot of attention. because thats what we warriors do. we like to brag how manly our builds are and grow lots of chest hair.

yes im saying fotm 0/10/30/0/30 hammer/rifle kicks some serious kittens. go try it. right now!

im curious as to how it will work with perplexity runes but i dont have the right condi set yet.

hi. i’ve playing around with 0/30/20/0/20 or 0/10/30/0/30 or 0/30/25/0/15 builds and found that they work quite well with hammer & rifle. Am i the only warrior that rolls hammer & rifle here? Lately the buzz seems to be all about having a shield + x or longbow for the offset weapon. I personally prefer the rifle for the range & the pretty 13k crits from kill shot & the channeled #3 button is an extra plus. not to mention beserker gear works great for the two.

the way i play this build is easy, i just start with the rifle from afar firing away as i make my way towards my target. when i get in melee range i switch to hammer and setup a nice disable chain. then depending on the situation i either stick to the hammer or the rifle. They usually die to my rifle however thnx to fury signet + kill shot.

So far in all my encounters i beat people 1v1 &1v2 situational, and the only thing i really regret is not using a GS for the mobility to get away, so i die a lot due to many zerg encounters when i roam. So yeah it’s not the best build for wvw, but it makes you feel like a boss in spvp. Anyway my real focus of this thread is to find out if there are any other x/rifle builds.

so please post up. i’m really interested on reading what you guys have to say.

i use the cookie cutter 0/10/30/0/30 with my warrior but i run hammer/rifle instead of the usual hammer/x+shield. The burst crits from the rifle do an immense amount of dmg along with rifle #3. what i do is i pull out my rifle from a distance & make my way towards the necro to get in melee range so i can setup up disable chains with my hammer. it wins like 8/10 times. The only time i lose is when a necro blindsides me & opens up with a ton of condis while i have 0 adrenaline, or the necro just somehow lives long enough for more to show up.

But is only my opinion, i respect your choice to try something new, right now the guardian is stuck in few high viable builds.

its not as solid as x/x/30/30/x in terms of what the developers have decided what a "guardian should do" but its fun to tinker around with. some people say the build is just a crutch. but crutches prevent you from becoming a rally bot.

The nerf to Judges Intervention pretty much forced me to seek out other ways to play aggressive. in this case i found that the build has a nice balance of aggression & defense to it since protection & might are on auto attack.

hi. i took some of your advice and decided to move the 10 pt.s from radiance into virtues. how ever i didnt get absolute resolution i went with master of concentration & dropped hold the line for purging flames (28 sec.multi- condi removal + dmg VS. PoV having 24-28sec. cd shouts that remove 1 condi VS. VoR 3 condi removal every 60sec. or VoR 6 condi removal every 60 sec. using renewed focus) I went with Purgin Flames since i really need an active condi removal that can counter pressure and at the same time support. not to mention its every 28secs traited which is on par with a traited Shout cd aswell. as for Absolute Resolution, the fact that it multi functions with a heal makes it useless to me because ill have to use it when im pretty high in hp to cleanse a condi & waste a valuable heal at the same time. I dunno, though ive heard that the passive regen speed makes it more valuable when in synergy with other traits. however for this build i dont really find it all that useful .^^

Still keeping the Spirit weapon so it counts as an ally and im getting the full regen affect from my boons. only this time im using Sword of Justice (mainly for the fast CD). Im only using 1 shout & thats the Stand your Ground since breaks stun/grants ret/grants stability/counts as 2boons.
I dont really need shouts tbh since my auto attack boons might & protection all the time. The build works nice. i can solo camps and take on anyone 1v1.

in terms of closing the gap im relying on my 25% passive speed from travelers & hammer #2/3 (although i usually save #3 when i need to peel myself & run) Ill make a video and post it when i have the time. FYI. this post was intended to shed new light on another possible roaming build using AH since its sounds like an oxymoron :P. i am familiar with monk/meditation builds, however i wanted to try something different and take a route that’s not as popular/cookie cutter. It’s not the best build for roaming but in my opinion its probably the funnest since it’s trolly. kinda like CRrabbit with his posts that subtly try to hint how much of a pro beast GW2 player he is. Kudos to you bro, gee i didnt know guardians could be kited….. even with GS & Meditations it can still be exploited around the cds…. atleast the gap closer with hammer #2 has a 5 sec CD compared to a 15 sec GS LoF or 45 sec Judge Int. even if its a shorter distance the splash dmg has a pretty big radius from the point of impact.

BTW i use shelter now instead of signet like a good boy :P

i think you failed to notice i had the 6 piece rune of the traveler passive. so no. i don’t get kited. im pretty much always in their face and people barely get away from me. unless theyre a War with a GS.

i put 10 pts. into radiance for the extra crit so it synergizes with empowering might in the honor trait. not to mention the cd reduction on the signet. you can switch it out for fiery wrath if you already have a high crit chance without being traited.
Now as for the Spirit weapon. I know theres a lot of talk of how useless it can be. but this build is idealy for roaming/skirmishing and most of the time the fights are small so your weapon isnt destroyed. not to mention the spirit weapon counts as an ally so my boons will heal me more (you get more heals the more allies you boon with AH). as for choosing the Hammer of Wisdom (it was my preference since it gives an added bonus of crowd control, you can switch it out for the sword however for the shorter CD).
The reason why i use the hammer is so i have constant protection. not to mention every 3rd auto attack i get 3 stacks of protection plus empowering might which gives might with every crit. so my regen is pretty good with a high crit chance just from auto attacking. as for staff its pretty obvious why i use it with AH.

I personally use the spirit weapon build for spvp & tpvp. the burst i get from it is uncanny compared to any class ive played. 5k crits from my hammer are just awesome. and the 4k crit from my summoned hammer is even better. The build i use for this is 30/25/0/0/15. you dont need 30 points in Radiance. just 25 for that passive that lets you do more dmg to foes inflicted with conditions. have a necro and mesmer around and you’ll be hitting their target for big numbers. Its best to shave that 5 from radiance & put it into virtues so you got 3 extra abilities to proc your retaliation with. The burst is awesome. time your weapon abilities right & you can kill someone in seconds from a stun lock. The only problem with this build is you wont do so well against condi classes since the build wont give you any condi removing abilities. bunker builds are a laugh with this build. burn down a tank in a matter of seconds. I dont use the shield of the avenger much because the CD is just horrendous for a 20sec. duration. The hammer of wisdom gives so much cc while the sword of justice keeps burn applied to your target. Instead of the Shield weapon i use the shout “stand your ground” for the stability & the extra retalition buff. not to mention it breaks you out of stuns. as for a heal i find signet of resolve works best since it gives the highest heal every 30s with the the signet cd reduction from the adept radiance bracket. and youre gonna need that big heal since youre pretty much glass. well theres my two cents. enjoy
