I’d first like to state that I have hit 80 on a Warrior but truth be told I didn’t much enjoy it, I loved being a Charr though so I know what race I want to be if nothing else.

Now before I begin here’s a brief on my MMO history…

Back in other MMO’s I’ve always enjoyed playing a support class. In WoW I played Paladin due to the buffs before they were removed, I actually enjoyed managing them and making sure they were adequate for the situation but WoW is boring to me since the class changes to Paladin have steadily made the class worse in my opinion.

In Rift I absolutely adored the Bard spec for Rogue. The idea of doing damage and providing passive buffs to the entire party was my idea of support in that it worked best in a team but solo play was still viable and a lot of fun. I also enjoyed the Bladedancer spec, going toe to toe with enemies using dual swords. I do still love Rift but it’s very cut and paste of WoW.

Those are really the only MMO’s I got to a high level with. I used to be put off GW2 until the Action Cam was implemented and it’s made the game much easier for a left handed person like myself. I can dodge well and use my skills easier without having to fight with the camera and positioning. It may not make sense to some people but I genuinely feel like I play better now and have more fun.

I would love to find a class that may evolve into something with good support but not sacrificing my potential to deal damage in groups or survive alone. I haven’t played all the classes to a high level and would like help finding something that comes close to this playstyle in GW2 because despite not enjoying my last main, I did enjoy the story and want to continue it with a class I will enjoy.

Sorry for the long message, I look forward to any replies

Race for Thief RP idea

I’d go human. Asura are egomaniacs so they wouldn’t care about something like honour, and sylvari have more of a greater good sort of mindset because of the dream. Duelists are inherently self interested, which fits humans more.

thanks for the info, I had the same general idea but it didn’t hurt to ask incase :P

Race for Thief RP idea

TL:DR – Human, Sylvari or Asura for a sword/dagger duelist kind of thief for my first alt. Don’t like Norn Thieves and would like to avoid making a second Charr but thats my fallback :P

Sorry for the wall of text…

I’m happily addicted to my Charr warrior and am close to hitting cap for the first time since playing GW2 (yay) but as ever I tend to like to make an alt or two when closing in on the level cap like I did on World of Warcraft.

In my earlier GW2 days I loved my old Charr thief. The Ash legion story was fantastic, my personal story (Honourless Gladium) fit with his nature with what I chose and now I find myself drawn back to the class for my first alt.

While it’s easy to say, ‘Just do what you did before if it was fun,’ I’d like to give another race a try while I’m experimenting I like building my character with a backstory as well but without following too many cliches while not being a special snowflake as well.

As an example my Charr warriors RP is that he is Iron Legion, he specialises in rifles but is also trained in sword and shield combat to help protect the Engineers and their war machines. He’s open minded, not seeing Blood as thick headed or Ash as dishonourable but still believes in Iron above all and won’t suffer any unfair insult or treatment on his Legion and, most importantly, his Warband.

My idea is a quick footed duelist, a sword/dagger build with a focus on being too quick for the enemy to hit. On the other hand he still fights honourably, he just believes more in avoiding hits than taking them. He doesn’t employ dirty tactics in a duel but he isn’t beyond gaining the upperhand on those he himself calls dishonourable (Bandits, Seperatists, Flame legion, those kinds of people).

What race best exemplifies that though? Norn is a no go because they just don’t fit the class (I have a friend who plays one and he’s enough Norn Thief for me) and I’m trying to do anything but Charr (even though I want too, but kitten the world is bigger than Ascalon) so that leaves me with Sylvari, Human or Asura?

Sorry for dragging on, looking forward to the input

If you haven’t started playing yet, you may want to try your hand at it solo before playing in a group with other players. GW1 plays vastly different to what GW2 does. As such, build conventions and much of the game’s mechanics do not work the same way.

If you’re going to start in Prophecies, it may be worth considering leveling up to 20 in Pre-Searing Ascalon, as that will give you a unique title which you can add to your Hall of Monuments. It’s one heck of a grind getting there, but it’s something to consider.

You’ll also want to pick up Eye of the North ASAP, as you’ll need it for your Hall of Monuments, which gives you some fairly nice rewards for GW2.

I’ve got to Kryta on my main but was bored solo, I want someone to share in the adventure with and will probably focus on getting Defender of Old Ascalon later

After being told to move this post to the LF forum, I ask again :P

So I recently got Guild Wars 1, I got fairly far on my own but tbh it’s dull playing solo so I’m looking to make a fresh toon with someone and experience the story.

Must :-

Speak english (so long as I can understand you, any nationality is welcome)
Willing to play frequently
Not level solo
Understand that I want to experience the story and take things slow
Friendly (That ones my favorite)
Open to using Discord

Pick any class you like but we’ll obviously be doing prophesies and Eye of the North (Once I have it) and after that I would be open to exploring Factions and Nightfall naturally but atm I only have the trilogy, not EotN.

I plan on exploring pre-searing Ascalon quite heavily so to start with I’d like one person who is willing to take that time. Afterwards I’ll invite anyone else post searing who is interested to make a party of 4 and that will be the max limit for a while. If you want to meet us in pre-searing thats fine too. Not sure what level we’ll be in post-searing but I’ll keep updating this post.

If you want to have a casual, chilled out time with a good old game look me up, I’m looking forward to meeting new people.

Sylvari or Human Necromancer?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Melanu.7425

Melanu.7425

A good argument I saw is that Sylvari are born as adults and haven’t had the same lifetime of experience to understand death naturally. Some Sylvari will be curious about their own mortality and thus learn of Necromancy.

Also Death is a part of nature, harnassing it’s power isn’t evil.

This is just poor practice, new players should play full price for HoT’s as it unlocks GW2 from a F2P account but making the veteren players who already own it pay the same price again is just not on.

Anyone else simply bored?

I’ve played for a little while, hit lvl 30 on an engineer, got to a new area and realized that I was doing it all over again. Logged in a month later, got two alts to lvl 10 to try them out, still boring, still over hyped, still feels broken or incomplete in my opinion.

Thanks but no thanks, all I got from this is the feeling that I want my money back…
