This week SoS won’t have a 1 time only event to skip in full force and jump 30,000 points instantly with. The larger portion of their lead last round was acquired during the 5 hour period when everyone was fighting that stupid giant crab for 20 slot chests.

SoS does reap the benefit of today being Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day. C’mon SoS, lets build a huge lead while SBI and JQ are celebrating Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day.

Would you remove the swords that go through objectives to show you they are under siege? As long as you see those swords you would still see objectives being attacked.

I think taking the cap off aoe and lowering the overall damage would be the way to go.

It’s a constant SOR hitting IOJ from this side, SOS hitting us from the other. The current scores, in no way, represent what IOJ is actually capable of, given a fair fight.

In fact, I’m calling it now, some big guild from SOR is xfering to SOS after they feed them a bunch of points this week.

Just watched your first wvw vid and enjoyed it a lot. I usually do S/D and staff, but have never really done D/D. I’m excited to try it out with a cantrip build.

I had said that better players will clear off conditions quickly in a previous post. I still stand by that. Luckily, enough people in WvW either don’t know they can clear conditions or don’t notice they have conditions on them. I often see my bleeds go their full duration.

I know that I’ve made assumptions that people are bad, but until I’m proven wrong it is working for me.

Most decent players don’t usually keep conditions on them for very long. Eles have several traits that get rid of them fairly quickly. That being said, I use full carrion/undead runes and I can get a fair amount of kills.

I don’t know why people don’t talk about it more. I wish I could get more ideas for my build and gearing by reading what others are doing.

EDIT: I also play mostly WvW and only rarely do I do sPVP and actually haven’t touched any dungeons. For sPvP I don’t use condition builds.

Stay on SoR. Next week (really 2 days from now) it will be SoS/SoR/IoJ. I promise you this will be a good match.

I use WASD where A and D are strafe left and right. I just completely disable keyboard turning.

1-4 are my attunement swaps. I’m not super comfortable with this since 4 is a bit far for me, but I’m getting more used to it.
Autorun – ~
Assuming a natural resting position with ring/middle/index finger on ASD, this will keep all your keys within 1.5 inches. Since my hands are on the small side, this is extremely helpful.

As for gearing…I run an uncommon build and spec (at least I can’t find anyone else that thinks it’s a good idea). I have full Carrion gear (pow/vit/cond) along with undead runes for toughness and condition damage. I have 30 Earth, 20 Water, 30 Arcane now, but I go back and forth between that and 30 Earth, 30 Water, 20 Arcane. I primarily use a staff, but I have exotic daggers and a scepter as well.

I also have a full zerkers set, but glass cannon didn’t suit me and I died way too much. I like this build because I have a lot of survivability and I can still output some damage if I’m really smart about my snares and AoE placement. With all the AoEs I have, I have also found that I can “corral” people in an open field. I don’t do any damage, but it allows my teammates to push back a force. It’s amazing how good people are at moving away from red circles, I just use it to my advantage.

Some downsides to my build, I’m pitiful at killing anyone 1v1 unless I remember to take my staff off before running around. I can still run away from anyone 1v1, but I hate doing that. I don’t see the large numbers in fire that I saw on with my zerker set. AoE placement is everything, and that takes some time to learn and I’m still learning.

I have a lot of fun with it. I can only play 6ish hours a week so I have to make it count when I do. In an average hour of wvw against even competition I usually net 5-7 badges and die between 0-1 times. Usually I only die when I over extend myself because I’m dumb.

It is back up and it is a great site. Thanks for doing this.

And that’s what exactly what you all did. You made SoS “more competitive” . That does not mean you will always win every match. There is still 2 more days to go. SoS may not be T1 server yet but has potential.

LoL at your first server match. Tysm, Atac, VI, Work, etc.. all left Dragonbrand for SoS right before that match up – of course that was an easy victory for SoS. That was a face roll SoS did.

I hope all you guilds don’t transfer off SoS and leave the server hanging, but then again I wont be surprised if you all do.

It’s ironic that you would accuse Tysm etc of server jumping. Yes, a lot of people left Dragonbrand (including me) after the match where Blackgate got a bunch of transfers mid week. I remember you trying to rally DB guilds after that match.

DB was my first server and I have only transferred once. A lot of the commanders I see on SoS I have seen from the early days of DB so I believe that they have only transferred once as well. In fact, I’m pretty sure that you and your guild have only transferred once.

What makes you think that the DB transfers that SoS got will bail? They left DB once week before you did. Are you going anywhere?

I know there were a lot of bad feelings when people left after that Blackgate match, but it’s in the past now. I usually only play during N/A primetime and I only play 6-8 hours a week so I really like SoS. The longest I’ve ever waited in a queue was 2 mins, I usually play alone and most of the commanders here are good, and at N/A primetime the matches are fun and back and forth. I’ll bet SoR is the same way (although I don’t know about queues).

A server is only full at a certain point in time. If you just wait until the off hours of that server and it switches to heavy, then you can transfer there. It should also be said that the server population is not directly related to the population in WvW. Of course more people on your server means the possibility of more people queueing up, but plenty of undermanned wvw servers are “Full”.

As for the current guild registration…I don’t know. I do know that there are rumors that because Blackgate is dominating so hard in T2 a bunch of them went to SoR to actually…you know…play wvw. Personally I would have went to NSP or GoM to really screw up the rankings…I mean, have a challenge.

SoS players almost reported every SoR shown on screen, it was kind of funny to watch…

With even numbers, hacks will not account for a 600-50-50 score which is what is was when I played for about an hour Sunday afternoon. But, I think someone said that it was oceanic Monday which I didn’t think about.

Hackers are no doubt a problem, but I doubt they can shift the score that much…or maybe they can. I haven’t hacked so I am not really sure how much of an affect it can have.

Hrmm, SoR getting second this week actually wouldn’t be so bad… SoS would go to T2 with their round the clock zergball and Crystal Desert with their lack of a sustained population would fall to T4. That’d make way for an SoR-Eredon-Tarnished Coast match-up that looks promising to me!

Interestingly enough, SoR had an extremely strong night presence during the weekend and gained 20k plus points on Sunday early morning and day. Not sure what happened last night (I’m guessing people work during the week) but SoS played PvDoor to make it up (I’m on SoS btw).

N/A primetime has been really fun during the weekend and I felt pretty even.

Oh and one more thing. Even if SoR won this match, as long as SoS came in second, SoS would still move up to the next tier and SoR would stay in T3.

Server transfers have nothing to do with it.

Server transfers have everything to do with it. When guilds (and bandwagoners) transfer en masse it can mess with the true ranking of a server and cause very lopsided matches.

I have transferred only once (two weeks ago) so I am also part of the problem, but if it cost money my friends and myself would have stayed on our original server.

GG’s SoS and DB, it was a fun week.

The overall score is not a good indication of how fun this match has been throughout the week during NA prime time hours. I always had an instant queue on one of the maps (on SOS) and there were always really good battles on both offense and defense.

For the last two months I thought there were 166 players/server/map. I’ve read in forums and other places that it might be different. Are there:

1. 500 players/server/map? 2000 slots available for each server, 6000 total slots.
2. 166 players/server/map? 664 slots available for each server, 1992 total slots.
3. 500 players/server? 500 slots total across all maps, 1500 total slots.
4. 500 players/map? 500 slots total for a map, but team A could have 300 and team B/C have 100 each. 2000 total slots.
5. or something completely different?

I guess 3 and 4 don’t make sense if you can have a queue in EB but none in the borderlands…but still I don’t know.

You are dead wrong about this. I would agree with you if there were no free transfers, but at any point (even mid week) a server can get a huge influx or outflux of players and completely change their ranking.

I’ve enjoyed the fights all week and I can attest that Mr pickles has not been smack talking. Some guys from Dragonbrand have however and it’s gotten pretty quiet from them now. I said on monday that they were counting their chickens kinda early even alluded to the fact that we didn’t have our full representation. Now Urge and RQ went on a bender. We got some morning coverage to match what DB had and look. DB has all but given up the ghost.
If you guys would have come out in force yesterday evening you could have kept yourselves in the game. Instead you could barely hold onto a supply depot all night, actually you did get your tower back in FA Borderland before I went to bed. It’s always easy when you are winning. I figure you guys for scrappesr that would fight even when down. Don’t make me wrong about that, come back and fight. You lost a lot of ground yesterday, don’t lose face tonight.

I am from DB and you can look back at my posts and see that I never bragged about winning for a majority of the week so far. I was actually pretty stoked that the fight was pretty close and fun.

I was also amused that some dude came to DB from BG, talked a bunch of cats, and then server transferred off when we started to lose badly yesterday.

I will say that what I don’t like about the free transfers (and I would still think this even if I was on BG) is that it messes with the rankings. Let me explain why this matters.

When the score is close, people queue up on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If it’s a blowout, usually people are done after the weekend. Okay there are some occasional pushes that can be fun even during a blowout, but those are rarer and harder to find. DB has been on both sides of the blowout before settling into a pretty even match this week. Unfortunately, the match is no longer even. I logged in before work this morning and saw that BG had 95% of the map. I have no problem with that, but it is different than it was on Tuesday morning when the potential score was far more balanced.

Bottom line is that free transfers basically pushed DB/BG/FA from being a fairly even matchup into complete BG dominance. I am not complaining about BG dominating us, I’m just complaining about the fact that their force does not represent their current rank. Just like if they lose a bunch of guilds (which I guess has happened in the past) it will also not represent their rank.

Here is to hoping that next week will be DB/CD/FA and we can have a week long fight.

We got smoked by JQ and I don’t remember a whole lot of arguing. Of course there is some kittening, but not a lot to make me notice and I saw nothing about it on the forums. I did however see a lot of kittening on the forums from TC and Mags a couple weeks ago.

I have a Mid-2010 iMac and I can say without a doubt that GW2 runs much better on my windows boot, and I do a good amount of wvw. To me the mac client is unplayable even for pve.

Isn’t it possible that when BG and GoM were fighting against a superior opponent their scores were tied because they were both gettting kittened with a kitten and kitten? It’s not necessarily true that people abandoned GoM for Blackgate.

The score difference between 2 and 3 is meaningless.

You are wrong about DB having a HUGE presence at all times of day. It just doesn’t…and along with that, we have no organized groups that fight during off hours, it is all pugs. In our battle (Jade/DB/CD) it was pretty close until the weekend was over and then jade took over. Ironically, this was exactly how our match with TC/Mag went, close and competitive over the weekend and then DB took over during the week.

A large blowout score midweek is not a good indication of how close the servers are since scores tend to snowball. I guess since I only play wvw on the weekends, I really don’t care what the score is on Thursday since I had a lot of fun over the weekend.

I will probably cancel my sub after a month.

Queue data was released. Needs no explaining what happened in this matchup.

What I see is that every server had a queue for every battleground in the first 6 or so hours. I’m pretty sure that after those first 6 hours Dragonbrand was in the lead by a non trivial margin. Bottom line is that the blowout final score is not representative of how close the servers are, so there are still pretty fun battles to be had. Considering the rewards for winning are pretty trivial, isn’t having fun the main point of WvW?

This is true. Okay, it’s fine if Dragonbrand pug zergs at night can beat TC/Maguuma’s night populations, but as for organized guilds taking objectives Dragonbrand doesn’t have it.

I think this is more of a sign that things really snowball out of control during off hours. During the first primetime battle between DB/TC/Mag, DB was winning, but the score was pretty close. I’m assuming that all three servers have no organization at night, but DB has the most numbers so DB won the night. Then close score again during primetime with DB winning the night again. Looking at the score now it seems like a blowout, but I never felt that way in the several times I’ve played this week.

Trust me, when DB fights any server that has any sort of organized off hours team, DB will be on the losing side.

I want to be clear, I’m not complaining about the fact that these are persistent matches, but in that last one day match, Dragonbrand had complete control up until primetime American hours were done. Fridays are my day off so I was on in the morning (mountain time) and watched IoJ take most of the map and the lead while most of my guildies were at work.

Dragonbrand has absolutely no off hours crew, we have zero queue during the day and a 2+ hour queue during primetime. This is the only reason why IoJ beat us on that last day and this is why I take a lot of pleasure that they are completely outmatched by ET, while we are in a fun battle this week.

First off, I love the heart system for questing. One little issue is if you finish a heart and still have Trophys to turn in, you can’t turn them in and they don’t disappear. We can manually destroy the item, but it can be a pain to search through your bags to find these items after a few hours of questing.

Not a huge deal, but one that I thought is worth mentioning.

The question is, will GW2 have more game sales than WoW has current subscribers? GW2 has 2 million sales and WoW has 9 million subscribers. I would think at some point those two numbers will intersect and GW2 sales will pass current WoW subscribers. Not really sure how much that will mean, but I’m sure it will happen.

Will there ever be more players playing GW2 than playing WoW…probably not since WoW will go F2P in the next couple years.

I will admit that I am one of those that is not quite comfortable juggling attunements. I got to level 40 mostly staying in fire while running around in the world in air. Between 40-50 I’ve made an effort to use all of my attunements and things are going much better.

I remember 5 years ago I went from being a clicker/keyboard turner in wow to binding all my keys and using the mouse to turn. It was hard at first, but now I can’t even remember what it was like. I’m hoping that attunement swapping will be more comfortable for me as time goes on.
