They’re just putting in more grind into the game to keep you buying gems. All this inconsequential ‘Living Story’ filler probably has a very low dev cost, and is of very low quality. They just don’t care anymore.
Low quality? Do you mean the story, the material in game itself, or the art assets? Because I thought the art and models were (mostly) really nice. Also, the dev cost is probably the same whether or not the quality is good or poor or the best thing since Al Gore invented the Internet.
You know what will keep me buying gems though? Useful things or fun distractions. Given I’ve only bought gems once for each infinite harvesting tool and once more for bank space? I don’t think I really “wasted” my gems, which is what I’d feel if I had bought, oh, the flute or some Black Lion Keys.
Love the art direction no complaints there, but the living story updates are stale gameplay wise. I’m also not counting the quality of life features as part of the living story btw.
Why do people support Ascended Gear anyways? All it is just two weeks of grinding, then the pro-vertical progression people will go back to the forums and complain there is nothing else to progress towards.
This is one of the more perplexing parts of Ascended gear. It solves no problems and creates new ones. Nobody gets super excited over Ascended gear. Some do get really kitten ed about it though. A new Legendary? People really care. New tier of power? Why? Is there a new dungeon difficulty we’re not aware of?
Given the limited and complex methods of obtaining this tier vs the prev BiS exotics, I’d say it’s a veiled attempt at dragging out our time in the game

A whole new gear tier is a waste of time for me, I used to be able to gear through just playing the game. Tokens etc. were a free way to gear. Now I actually have to undergo a massive grind to compete. 0/10

I wish I was a ele or engie main right now
AC- Path 2 Ghost Eater bugs out all the time for me
CM- too many trash mobs, boring bosses, camera issues
TA- Nightmare Tree, Feel like I have to play my guard for the blossoms
SE- Overall too many trash mobs
CoF- I don’t have a problem other than the bosses
HoTW- Too much trash, everything has way too much health
CoE- I feel this dungeon is in a pretty good place, but boss mechanics could be better.
Arah- Abundant trash, The Orb event, Sparks bugging out
Balance/Meta: Warriors out dps everything just by having mobs pulled correctly. Everyone else pales in comparison in terms of DPS as well as utility options. Conditions/Crits builds are hampered on things like gravelings’ burrows and the nightmare tree. Too many trash mobs are repeated without any mechanics unique to that fight.
Rewards: No reliable way to progress on fine mats/Lodestones. More tokens for harder paths would be nice. Better loot tables on chests would also be appreciated. I think the silver granted by bosses is pretty fair, but harder paths should grant more silver at the end to make up for the potential of easier paths to being farmed.

But we were already down players, and the new build prevented us from getting replacements, and then we couldn’t clear the trash guarding one of the circles.
Unfortunate timing, really. I’ve beaten a FotM L48 before with only 3 players against Cliffside boss because of a similar situation, but that’s just how it goes. Either make it happen or quit and try again after updating to the newest patch. It’s not ANet’s fault; no matter when they put up a new patch they will interrupt someone doing something.
I suppose that’s true. I probably wouldn’t be so frustrated if more players were actually willing to do path 4, or anything aside from cof farming.
I love that this community attacks anyone who has any kind of criticism of nonsensical elements of the game. Firstly, I know you’re supposed to stand in the circles to down the wraith before he resets, I never said it was bugged. But we were already down players, and the new build prevented us from getting replacements, and then we couldn’t clear the trash guarding one of the circles.
We didn’t quit at grenth we couldn’t even get past the wraith you need to kill first because we had lower dps and he kept resetting
Wasted 2.5 hours because player gets kicked due to connectivity issues. We can’t replace our war, and we’re unable to continue. I don’t think this path was even worthy of an hour, almost all padding, gimmicky mechanics, and generic boss encounters.

It almost seems that having Zerker gear is a requirement on anything other than guard/necro.
250 t6 mats + 50 ectos for the best in slot back slot is a grind, you can grind fotm also.
20 dailies + monthly=1 Amulet
10 Fotm dailies OR 25 dailies + monthly= one ring.
And this is just for four pieces
I’ve had this problem lately also. Know I’m weary of two people with the same guild tag in fear they’re just going to boot everyone else and invite their guildies for the loot.
*Dungeons take longer now with new down scaling
*Rewards are still the same
- Getting Agony Res. takes too long, or costs too much (ectos)
- Trash mobs take even longer now
Won’t be playing dungeons/FoTM until rewards/time are improved.
Was a bit confused how the reward system will work, so you’ll get rewarded for your maximum scale lvl if your playing a higher lvl?
Okay so I just completed scale 5, so I’m lvl 6 now. Anyways how are people come Monday going to be joining FoTM groups right for them? What’s stopping people from joining really high lvls and then ruining others runs?
I hope that getting ascended items from laurels will be at least same hard as on fractals. You said that its so easy to get ascended items from fractals but its not truth. For ascended back you need 1.850 fractal relics and its very long way to get it + ring MAYBE drop after 10+ and do you know that you need some Agony resistance before you enter 10+? If ppl dont have Agony resistace and everybody go there withou it, you will end soon. Its not so easy how you think and is visible that you are not going fractals because you dont know what are you speaking about. For me it was for example 210x simple fractals to get ascended back and you think that it is easy? It took much time and exactly same time should take collecting laurels for ascended items.
Is good to know that ppl will have ascended items in few day while other ppl spent weeks on getting same items from fractals.
If you want to be the 1% with the best gear there’s always other games, but guild wars should always be skill>gear.
Ok but if devs first intended for max gear to be easy to obtain, why legendaries are so much hard to obtain? Legendaries ARE max gear on game with best stats on future.
Cosmetic items rather that max stats, the only reason they’ll always be max is because of the insane grind required to earn them. Up until people realized that the dungeons were lackluster exotic pieces were easy to obtain through tokens. Now we have mini dungeons and the only way to obtain ascended gear was to grind the ‘new end game’ until they fixed dungeons. Now on Monday things may change, and others might finally be able to have some new shiny pink rings.
People who are championing FoTM grinding should realize that the devs first intended for max gear to be easy to obtain.
I would have liked it better if they had fewer difficulty scalings. The reason why they have 80+ lvls is for people to faceroll fotm untill they fix the actual dungeons.

Heavy and light have are almost colored the same blue color, and there was not warning ‘are you sure you want …’ that popped up for me. I got it later when buying a CoF GS
Well I suppose I’ve forgotten the new dailies which is of the most concern to me, hopefully it’s nothing that’s too time consuming. New dailies each day of the week, then later they’ll add 4 out of 6 you’ll need to complete. Thoughts?
What do you think of the Laurel system?
I personally always complete the daily/monthlies so I’m looking forward to finally being able to progress towards ascended gear without having to do FoTM.
Does anyone know how much it takes to get a ascended ring? We can see in the preview that is costs ~100 for a cat tonic, 5 for 10 uid dyes, and 5 for ‘class gear’ (yellow).

Just bought heavy armor for my mes with tokens I worked hard for. Why is it even an option to buy SOUL bound armor that isn’t going to work. Please implement a return system.

Open world is almost always empty for my on ehmry. Rarely bother with events or anything since they’ll take too long. This is consequence for poor reward systems in both dungeons and open world. No one can turn a decent profit from actually playing. Hoarding fine mats and selling them during spikes on fridays is the only real way to make gold aside from AC/FOTM runs.
Would you want HM? Are you happy with current rewards/challenge?
Implementation: Opens up to Players who have completed every Story/explore path of said dungeon(account wide). You must be level 80, as all monsters should scale to 80. Rewards from chests/bosses/completion should adjusted for 80’s and an option to obtain lodestones and other endgame mats.
Bosses are significantly more challenging with slightly larger hp pools and new attacks. Remove Repair/waypoints (you wipe you lose). Adds should be more or less the same maybe higher damage output?

As the title asks, when is the revamps coming. I’ve enjoyed dungeons mostly.However after running through all of them, and grinding the gear I like, there’s not much motivation to run through these again. I mean they ARE fun to me. BUT I’d like to make some actual progression towards legendary weapons/other high end skins. I feel like most of this could be fixed by adding guaranteed drops (UW/FOW would guarantee random shards/ectos) in the mobs. I think you were heading in the right track with the wondrous goods, however 3 tokens and an insignificant amount of karma isn’t cutting it.
I’ve done all paths except for the bugged arah ones.
Anyways only problem I have is with :
Some paths you’ll only want to play once (the looong ones) since they have poor rewards for the time your party invests in them .
Higher level dungeons still gives out mostly blues and other junk from chests. Compare to Fractuals where it’s fairly common to get an exotic from the chest.
Over use of trash padding to inflate the time. Worst offender here is Arah, maybe TA.
Hoping Arah is rebalanced so people aren’t so inclined to just baggie farm.
Especially post patches… I mean the paths seem rather difficult compared to all the other dungeons EM modes (excluding Arah). What do you think?
To have let this game breaking bug stay in for so long is unprofessional and a testament to how poorly polished this game is. Requesting refunded tokens for time wasted among my buddies and myself.
You really couldn’t have been bothered to at least buff some damage numbers. My Support guardian with tanking gear deals around 30% more damage, has better survival, better boons, and aoes. Really unacceptable.
I noticed that some of the mobs especially the vines hit MUCH harder
