I never understood why mesmer’s blink is not working between places that are not visually connected and it just pops a message “invalid path to target”. I mean it’s a teleport. If I am not mistaken thief’s shadowstep can go almost everywhere. Why aren’t we getting the same with our blinks?
Not too often do I sign in, but give this a read:

That’s actually pretty cool.
I feel like Mirage benefits equally from both power and condi, in general PvE I think Grieving will be the go to stat combo, just like Berserker is now.
A new stat combo will be available in PoF called Grieving, it has condi and power as major stats and precision and ferocity as minor, it’s the best of both worlds when it comes to dmg.
They wouldn’t and I don’t expect them to haha, but one can dream!
Isnt Jaunt a leap btw? I can’t remember
Jaunt works exactly the same way as Blink only it has shorter range and doesn’t break stun. You still get the other Blink benefits though like channeling while blinking or climbing up obstacles.
Ever since the elite spec weekend hit all my games have been extremely bad, I started from Platinum division and now I strugle to berely hold onto Gold.
Before the demo weekend, games had been fairly balanced, I’d either win or lose with often times only a couple of points difference but then all of a sudden kitten hit the fan and spread it all over the gokitten place, now games look like a total joke, you either crash the enemy team or get crashed really hard(mostly the latter).
Did something change in the matchmaking or what? It can’t be just bad luck.
I see everyone complaining about the new dodge, I honestly don’t think that this is the problem with Mirage, you get an awesome elite that makes up for the leap, the problem lies in other places like the lack of movement speed, a fairly mediocore new weapon with messy animations/mechanics (why the kitten is it an Axe to begin with?) and Infinite Horizon being close to useless unless you play condi or use sword for the daze.
Welcome to the club, happens every season.
It would be nice if you could summon up to 2 (or even 1) Phantasms in adition to 3 clones. They don’t need to change the fuction of them (attached to a target and then dying with it) as long as the F skills don’t effect them.
That has been in my mind since I first touched my Mesmer but I kinda see why it’s not in the game yet.

I was strugling to survive too when I played my Ele, even in the main storyline (too used to the mesmer playstyle).
I found that by using Sc/D i was faring much better, Scepter gave me range and the water attument heals are extremely useful. I was using serk gears with Water/Lighting/Arcane trait lines.
Staff is the worse weapon for PvP, in my opinion it’s the worse weapon in all game modes for eles, you get so many fun stuff from dagger/x and scepter/x, Staff feels like any other mage in any other MMO out there, too boring for my taste.
In any case, ele in PvP is mostly played with the Tempest elite spec, auramancer build and it’s a very strong one too, it’s a support build that has very high sustain. There are a lot of videos on Youtube with that build so you can easily look it up and get a clear idea of how it plays even if you don’t own the expantions.
You have plenty of utilities + the F skills for self defence. Seems more than enough to me.
I don’t know which class to play. They are all cool to me, but which one would you recommend for PvP?
I want to do well in 1vs1 situations.
That’s a tough one actually, assuming you go by the meta they all have their uses.
Druid is a very good 1v1 but doesn’t fare that well against multiple opponents, Necros on the other hand are the exact opposite, they can take on many opponents at once but due to their lack of escapes they get focused down a lot in pvp which can be really really frustrating, still the highest sustain class in the game.
As for DH, it’s a double edged sword imo, it can either wreck kitten up or be fodder, depends on enemy comb.
And what would be a good class that can carry? (Barring thief, I’m an absolute disaster playing the class)
Usually the “playmakers” are Thieves because of their unlimited mobility (easy to +1 fights and decap unguarded bases) and Mesmers cause of portal, good mobility and decent survivability. Nothing’s set on stone though and both of those classes are really hard to master.
I strongly feel that power mirage is better than power chronomancer when it comes to running dual swords. It covers almost all of the weaknesses of chrono melee fighter.
How does Sword off hand even come close to the uses of Chrono’s shield?
One of the same here, I never managed to get any proper use out of this skill, the discription claims it to be unblockable but it seems to be missing half of the time.
I tried mostly GS, A/T and S/T, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would. I found the Sword abush skill very useful in several situations, it’s the best abush skill in my opinion. Axe sometimes worked sometimes it didn’t, too unreliable for a power build and the GS abush skill is a joke, absolutely useless in any possible situation, the dmg is non-existant and it slightly locks you in place while using it. Power Mirage is far inferior to Power Chronomancer in way too many ways.

Equip Spirit weaponsYou are now a blue Mesmer with higher damage and support with no broken mechanics.
Screw that, spirit weapons are too expensive.
The dmg is not bad considering you have it up almost all the time.
I agree with the range though, 600 units would make it more fun but you should also consider how useful it is as pure utility skill, using it over terain wihtout wasting your always important Blink cooldown.
How is 3 short range teleports with only 20 secs recharge time not “Elite-caliber”? It’s the one thing Mirage got right, leave it be.
Or you know, just make Mirage Cloak reset Phantasm skills.
That’s what I was thinking too, reset the attack of the Phantasms when you enter Mirage Cloak. That can solve several issues at once.
Except the one good thing about Mirage is trying to move away from Phantasms.
How is that a good thing? It only gets in the way of our potential. You did notice that clones do 0 dmg anyway right?

After observing for a while in HoTM lobby;
The teleport skills fail a high percentage of the time. I think the reason is that they don’t track a moving target. You land where the target was at the time of the cast.
It’s also possible they are affected by de targeting/taunt skills.
If these skills moved you to where the target actually is, they’d be much better.
I have a feeling that those issues will be adressed before full release among a few other minor issues in all new specs.
Mirage would work somewhat fine if there wasn’t so much aoe dmg going on which makes short work of our puny clones and leaves us completely open in a matter of seconds. Even then the numbers are simply too low for a class that’s supposed to be inspired by Thieves.
The spec is a joke compared to the Chronomancer, the only things it has going for it is the Elite skill and Axe 3.
Losing Shield off-hand (hands down the best off-hand in the game), Alacrity, Continuum Split or even the passive 25% movement speed that everyone underestimates simply ain’t worth it.
To be honest I didn’t expect it to be better than Chronomancer since in my opinion Chrono is the most “complete” spec in the game, has a role everywhere and is even essential in some content BUT I did expect something more than that, at least bigger numbers. I can’t see what the Mirage’s role is, in what kind of content would a Mirage be better than a Chronomancer?
