Dear Anet,
You gave us a ponytail. Soo much thank you.
<33
How does a new player get $60 worth of gold? That’s what I thought. Don’t be facetious.
Where do you even get the numbers from?
You are assuming that:
1: People would buy every single episode.
2: People would buy every single episode on their own.
3: ArenaNet won’t release a package at the end of a season at a reduced price.
Not to mention, they do sales and such on their items rather frequently in the gemstore.
If someone buys the game after the end of living story 2, they’d have to pay to unlock living story 2.
If I buy lets say Lord of the Rings Online today, I have to pay to unlock a kitten-ton of expansions. How is this different?
Pretty much this ^ If someone missed all of season 2, they hypothetically missed a year’s worth of content. That means they hypothetically missed an expansion (seeing most games do expansions yearly – biyearly).
If I want to play Guild Wars and unlock all the content? I have to buy Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North. If I want to play World of Warcraft and unlock all of the content? I have to buy Burning Crusade, Lich King, Pandera. . .
Aye, but every other GW1 or WoW player had to pay too. Expacs are not just new players who have to pay for access, it’s every player.
This is a premium charged on being a new player, instead of all players accessing new content. That’s not a healthy decision to grow a game (but it’s a very healthy decision for making existing players happy).
I don’t feel that the “new player” argument here is a strong one for a multitude of reasons. I’ll list them off:
First, a new player probably isn’t going to initially want to go back and play through all the living stories they missed. They’re new to the game. The first thing on my mind wouldn’t be, “Let’s do all this stuff I missed and I’m under level for!” My first thought would be: explore the game. That’s going to be doing hearts, running around in the content that’s present, and completing by personal story. Only after all that may I take a look at the previous living story content and go, “Huh, maybe I’ll play that.”
Second, you’re trying to account for interest that may not be existent. How many Living Stories have bored people (who have been consistently playing the game?). If say week 6’s story is boring. Don’t buy it. You get to pick and choose if you want filler or not.
Third, it’s not limited to new players. There’s a lot of players in GW2 who take breaks, play other games, or get caught up in real life.
Fourth, no one in this game has to spend actual money to buy things. Getting 200 gems through gold isn’t hard. A new player is going to have access to in game funding like everyone else.
I feel like by the time a, “New player,” takes interest in the content they may have missed, they’re not going to be an entirely new player anymore. Furthermore, they’ll actually have feedback on the stories they missed and get to decide for themselves if it’s worth it.

I got an error too. Lame! However, I do agree with the above comments.
Pretty much everything I want to say has been said already but I’ll highlight some fine points:
- You can log in, just once, for fifteen seconds every two weeks to get your next chapter.
- It’s $2.50 USD to purchase content you may have missed for whatever reason.
- That’s 65$ USD (max) if you miss an entire year’s worth of content.
- It’s a nice balance between players who want previous content in the game, verse those who’ve already played it.
- If you’re interested in minis, armor pieces (like back skins), or special ore nodes? Those are usually on the gemstore for 200-800 gems. Which means, you have the option of getting these things for free (by playing the content) or you spend the same amount (if not less) to get them.
I’m personally all for this adjustment. Not only does it give players a chance to complete content they may have missed, but it also appears that they’re trying to make things less zergtastic.
I don’t know about you but my computer (Windows 7) has this nifty feature where I can set more than one clock so when I click on the clock in the system tray I get to see TWO CLOCKS next to each other, one with my time and one with a different time.
But I don’t really care because nothing changed except what is considered ‘server time’ and now it’s all standardized to one time which is great! Everything still happens at the same time as it used to as far as I’m concerned and if I need to track something’s time then I use one of the super duper handy dandy timing apps/sites that are prevalent on the internet.
Perhaps it would be nice if gw2 would show both times (local and UTC) on the mini-map.
This is actually really nifty.
The point still stands that they’re NA servers so they should display a NA server time. European servers would have a European server time, etc.
I think it’s honestly preference. It’s simply a suggestion. (:
It’s about local ease. North Americans would only have to work in a 1-4 hour time difference instead of having to schedule things for +8 (ish) hours which can take things into the next day. It’s about convenience more than anything else. Yes we could learn it, but we play on North American servers so shouldn’t our servers be set in some form of North American time zone?
I dislike comparing games on one game’s forums but an example would be World of Warcraft. WoW had North American and European servers. Those servers were set in time zones to their world clock. They went a step further and did individual time zones for servers but I’m not asking for that much depth (especially not with megaservers). Just a basic “server time” for those server’s continent location.
Hello there!
After playing mostly caster classes and their metas, I’ve decided to finally take a step into attempting to play an engineer. With that comes research and a try-and-fail mentality. However, I’d like to reach out to some people who already play the class, and what they’ve discovered in their time of playing it. I know the feature patch brought in some new changes so I’m tentative to build search when I don’t know the last time it was actually updated.
For that reason I’m making a suggestion request! I’m looking for PvE builds that people enjoy with their engineers. Things that are functional in open world, dungeons, and fractals. A link for observation is preferred but not needed. Tell me why you prefer this build.
I’m going to ask people play nicely in here. I’m looking for assistance, not battle of the opinions. <3
Recently, Guild Wars 2 updated their in game time to UTC. Whereas this may not seem like much of a change for European and Chinese players, it is a bit of a change for the people on the opposite side of the world. For those of us who relied on server time to schedule events on calendars or otherwise, it’s become difficult and confusing for a good portion of players. Not only are things now scheduled usually a day ahead, but frequently there’s a +amount of odd hours.
Please note that I’m talking about scheduling events on community websites or otherwise.
A simple solution to this would be to split the “Sever Time,” up by server location.
Example: All European Servers would run on UTC. All American servers would run on PST. All Chinese Servers (assuming there’s more than one) would run on a time better suited for them. This would make scheduling for these separate communities easier on all those involved.
I can’t, honestly, say I’ve ever coded for a game. So I don’t know how easy or hard this would be but perhaps it could be a considered change for convenience in the future.
Thanks for reading!
I wrote a review on the armor here: http://gw2fashion.tumblr.com/post/86986665070/ancestral-outfit-review
I’m actually rather happy about this. I know some people are upset because the female charr aren’t wearing something more masculine, but I’m content with them having some more “feminine,” variety to them.
Just putting this out to you all, but China’s release has a couple hairstyles we do not have. One includes a ponytail and I mean a regular one down the back, so possibly that style and the others may come here.
I read this and started screaming in my guild chat. Want want want want want.
Dear ArenaNet,
I noticed this instrument on my birthday (April 8th, today) and originally freaked out stating that I needed it. As I have all your instruments (except the horn and bell ): ). It was then given to me as a gift.
What I did not realize, was that this drum would literally become my life.
I AM SO HAPPY THIS THING IS SO AWESOME AND SO COOL NEVER CHANGE IT BECAUSE IT IS BRILLIANT. Yes, capital letters were needed there. This drum speaks to me. As a drum enthusiast in real life, and someone who spends a lot of time listening to more celtic genre music, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THIS DRUM IS AWESOME. I can walk with it. I can loop it. I can make cool sounds with it. THIS IS SO AMAZING.
Thank you, so much, for this drum. That is all.

I’m glad those of you who saw enjoyed it! Of course, for those who missed it you can read the screenshots! <3
On the Tarnished Coast server, we held a memorial service for those who died in Lion’s Arch. This event was prompted by guild wars 2 roleplayers and many came out that night to listen to the speeches and remember Lion’s Arch for what it once was.
The full ceremony can be found here. The official thread for this event can be found here.
We have not forgotten the lives lost in the devastation, but our motto still stands strong.
“From Ruin We Prosper,” and we will prosper again.
Read carefully:
“What’s happening to town clothes with the April 2104 Feature Build?
The separation between in-combat and out-of combat appearance is being replaced by a completely new armor skinning system known as Wardrobe. This conversion will affect the town clothes that you already own in one of three ways:
Town clothing sets such as the Pirate Captain’s Outfit or Mad King’s Outfit will become one-piece account unlocks known as outfits which can be toggled to be displayed on your character instead of armor, even during combat.
Most pieces sold separately, such as the Fuzzy Animal Hats or Phantom Hood, will become armor skins for the appropriate slot, usable by a character that wears armor of any type.
Some promotional town clothing, such as the Dragon Emblem T-shirt and retired town clothes such as the hoodies, will become endless tonics which allow you to continue to wear the clothing in non-combat situations.
Can I still mix and match my town clothes?
Clothing pieces that are converted to armor skins can be mixed and matched with the same restrictions as other armors. Outfits cannot be mixed as each of them now is stored on an account-wide basis as a single unlock. Items related to endless tonics cannot be mixed or dyed.
What’s happening to toys?
Toys obtained prior to the implementation of the Wardrobe system will first need to be exchanged at a Black Lion Armor Trader for a new toy before they can be used again. Costume Brawl equipment such as the Boxing Gloves or riding toys such as the Witch’s Enchanted Broom—all of which previously were equipped on the Town Clothes page—now will be used directly from inventory.
If I don’t want a tonic, can I get a gem refund for the purchase?
Customer support will be able to fulfill gem refund requests only for town clothes that become endless tonics. Such requests must be made after the Town Clothes system changes take effect; refund requests cannot be processed prior to the April Feature Build. Customer Support is not able to fulfill requests for refunds other than those related to Town Clothes that become endless tonics. This means that town clothes that become skins are not eligible for a refund.”

Just re-posting this here since it’s more relevant to this thread:
While I’m usually amused by the creative lengths some go to find something to complain about on these forums, the concerns about the ‘all or nothing’ system for town clothes is totally justified.
I was going to quote a post that I specifically agreed with detailing the problems with the proposed town clothes wardrobe system but there was just too many that word for word mirrored my concerns.
I really do think the community found the ‘fly in the ointment’ of the otherwise exciting new wardrobe system. ArenaNet, please re-think & re-work just this part of the proposed wardrobe system and make all town clothes mix & match just like every other piece of armor in the game.
I feel it’s the only part of the new wardrobe system ArenaNet has missed the mark on and hope they will be flexible enough to fix it before it goes live.
This describes how I feel perfectly. So here’s the deal:
A lot of the changes they’re making in this upcoming patch are comparable to Guild Wars (1). I won’t touch base about all the pve/wvw/pvp changes they’re making and how they’re similar because they don’t matter in this thread. However, on costumes? When you bought a costume from the store you had three options:
1) Dye color
2) If you wanted to wear the entire costume
3) If you wanted to wear just the helm or just the outfit.
Whereas this doesn’t give you the option (apparently) for just wearing the outfit or just wearing the helm it is very “similar” in the way that one costume = one full outfit.
Now this system was flawed. There were certainly pieces of the actual outfits I would have loved to mix in Guild Wars. That being said the game is older. Guild Wars 2 is not an older game and already has the implemented code to allow us to change out the Town Clothes.
There’s multiple reasons why this is bad for business and bad for us. Some of those include:
Less Customization – People like to choose exactly how they look. If they cannot it will be less used.
Unfavorable Pieces – I don’t use the fuzzy shoulders or hat (for example) from the Wintersday town clothes. This is because I don’t like them. Now, other players do. Tastes vary in large MMOs and trying to force everyone to one system is not going to work for you.
Expense – These costumes can be expensive for your player base. You’re asking them to shovel out more money for costumes but are giving them less customization.
Roleplayers – Roleplayers are a huge part of your income because they like vanity items. If you remove the customization over their character they’re not going to continue funding you (see previous notes).
There are far more reasons than this. Admittedly, the solution is really simple. Just keep them as individual pieces. I am rather disappointed about this change and I hope that the developers reconsider it before it’s too late.
Addition :
After reading the provided link ( https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/45944258-Town-Clothes ) I don’t feel like they’re going to change this upcoming system. It is disheartening. Perhaps if (when) they see the decrease in sales on these costume items they’ll shift it back to the old ways (that, or when they see how many people request a refund).

Soo. . .
“A simple memorial marks the final resting place of Ascalonian hero and Ebon Vanguard commander, Gwen Thackeray—loving wife of Lieutenant Keiran Thackeray and great-grandmother to Captain Logan Thackeray.”
This statement is important because for anyone trying to figure out how many generations have passed between your Guild Wars character and your Guild Wars 2 character this could solve all your problems. . . except one thing.
For Gwen to be Logan’s great grandmother that would be:
Gwen,
Her kid (grandparent)
Their kid (parent)
Logan.
That. . . doesn’t make sense.
The average American has a kid around 25-30.
According to the timeline on the wiki, Ebonhawke was established in 1080AE. Gwen was a part of that (she was 20 years old). The current day in GW is 1327. That’s 247 years ago. Even if Gwen had a child super late in life, like age 40, and that child did the same, and their child did the same, that’s still half the time until Guild Wars 2.
See math:
Gwen is 40
Kid is 40
(80)
Say parent is 40
(120)
Logan is … 20-30
(150)
150/250. We’re missing 100 years.
10 generations is approx. 250 years.
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_years_are_in_10_generations
So here lies a problem:
It makes no sense.
To go through 250 years in 3 generations makes no sense.
Solution: it could be changed to great-great-great and so on grandmother, or. . .
“A simple memorial marks the final resting place of Ascalonian hero and Ebon Vanguard commander, Gwen Thackeray—loving wife of Lieutenant Keiran Thackeray and ancestor to Captain Logan Thackeray.”
Thoughts? Opinions?
./confused.
Yes, but it’s also worth mentioning that since that video was posted a dev livestream said that the Mad Realm gargoyles have no connection to the Ascalonian gargoyles- they just thought that gargoyles would be a good Halloween prop.
That escaped my memory. I just remembered watching the youtube video recently. xD
It might be worth mentioning that in the Mad King’s Realm there are Gargoyles (and if I remember correctly, they look a little stone-y). Their design has completely changed from the Ascalonian gargoyles, but they’re there.
There’s a WoodenPotatoes theory that they were somehow related to one of the rituals needed to set Thorn free.
The Link
I’m bias, so I’m making a bias thread. Note there may be spoilers here.
Yup.
Basically, I am in love with necromancers (and ritualists, but beside the point) and I thought, “Why not combine my two favorite things together in one thread: lore and necromancers?”
The goal of this thread is to find interest lore tidbits on this profession from both Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. That way, we have an interesting collection of profession based fun facts. This can be here for enjoyment, roleplay reference, story reference, or what have you.
It can include speculations (as the lore only explains so much), but clarify it’s speculation. Example:
Speculation :
Verata’s studies are related to the base cast for the necromancer minions we see today. Why? Two hundred and fifty years ago, Verata was working on experiments to lengthen the health of his minions. They lacked the inherent health degeneration of normal minions. Today (Guild Wars 2), we no longer have a health degeneration on our minions.
Be willing to discuss the lore you find and your speculations. Try to play nicely if you participate in this thread.
After all,
We’re all a little mad here

I personally didn’t mind waiting the two hours. The guys I was with in mumble were pleasant and map chat / say were fun to hang out in. -shrugs!-
I’m sorry you got put into the overflow! That really sucks. I have a few suggestions:
1) If try entering after the last Marionette fight. People usually leave due to the 2 hour wait.
2) If it’s a computer issue (ex: constant DCs), try turning your graphics to the lowest setting.
I, personally, didn’t experience any lag on my computer — however I’m also running on a gaming computer. We didn’t get too many reports in mapchat about constant DCs, so I can’t tell you if it’s a server cap issue.
All I can say is keep trying! It’s a really fun fight when you’re able to truly participate.
First and foremost, congratulations Tarnished Coast for killing the Marionette!
Tonight, Tarnished Coast beat the Marionette battle at around 8:20pm. It was actually exciting! I have to say that this is a world boss I really enjoyed. People on the Tarnished Coast main server were really pleasant to one another.
I really only have positive feedback to say about this fight. I felt that it was actually a really nice blend of coordination and organization. It was something that could be explained to people in both map chat / say, or mumble, without taking up so much time that people lost interest. It was a good blend of tactics and tank-and-spank, that weren’t too complicated for newer and/or less experienced players.
From a personal perspective, I feel the difficulty of this world boss is what should be aimed for. Tequatl arguably has too much coordination and/or damage issues and I don’t see that problem here. Arguably, I wouldn’t say make it much more harder than this due to venturing into Tequatl level of difficulty (which has received wide reviews but many are rather negative for various reasons).
That’s all from me!
Congratulations Tarnished Coast and good luck to the other servers who have yet to complete it!
Alright so I know that during the assault each race got three new hairstyles. It’s super appreciated! A lot of people really like them.
However, this request is to give human females (and male?) a regular ponytail. Now I know, “But wait, Mint, human females have a side ponytail!” Oh gosh, I know I promise. However, I’m a girl in real life, and I think I can speak for enough of us who have the length to do it? We all have those days where we shove our hair into a simplistic ponytail on the back of our heads and call it done. It’s out of the way. You can make it pretty if you’d like. Add some sultry side bangs or make it waist length (human females have two long hair styles).
I’d like to point out that asura, norn, and sylvari all have a long, normal ponytail (whereas I think it would be hilarious on a charr it may not exactly fit), so why don’t humans?
I know that if you gave humans another hairstyle, you’d have to for all the other races. Luckily, there’s been plenty of provided material on site in hopes that the artists will take something (and Ree mentioned in a livestream to my memory that hairstyles are something she enjoys making / playing around with).
Alas, this would be my biggest request. Not guild halls or more clothes. Just. . . a regular ponytail.
Thanks for reading!
Interesting topic, interesting answers~.
Hey Angel, Mint here from 2RP! I just wanted to give you a huge thank you for coming into these forums and chatting to us. I can understand how finding time for these sort of personal communications can be incredibly difficult, but the fact you’ve responded multiple times to multiple questions is extremely heartwarming and kind. It’s nice to hear from you again, so truly, thank you. (:
I actually like these critiques and the solutions provided.
So, I was nitpicking in my sleep deprivation this morning. This is what a Melandru Stalker looked like in Guild Wars:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/9/91/Melandru%27s_Stalker.jpg
And their text (taken from the wiki):
Melandru’s Stalkers are charmable animals that can be found in both pre-Searing and post-Searing Ascalon. Many of them can be found roaming around a shrine of Melandru in Regent Valley prior to the Searing, though after the Searing, they seem to be slowly dying out and they are much harder to find, but there is usually one past the Statue of Balthazar and Master Ranger Nente. Their locations:
Core
Battle Isles
Zaishen Menagerie Grounds (levels 5, 12, 15, and 20, depending on unlock progress)
Prophecies
Ascalon (pre-Searing)
Regent Valley (pre-Searing)
Ascalon
Old Ascalon
Alright so. . .
This is what they look like now:
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/zz23/MintsRealities/gw135_zpsac58ee84.jpg
Side by side:
http://i810.photobucket.com/albums/zz23/MintsRealities/c27xdkpi_zpsb075c306.png
~-~
So my first problem was their appearance. I’ll give that they’re slight similar with their markings, I guess. However, one is distinctly a dark brown and the other is a golden with white. That is a very clear adaptation to their fur coloring in what could be considered a fairly darn short period of time.
My second issue was their location. I found there in Caledon Forest. They somehow — while being a dieing breed — got all the way across the continent, and then survived in a drastic climate change (they survived the Shiverpeaks, somehow). It could be argued that one guy was like, “I’mma bring my cat here!”
Which I guess gets into my hypothesis. I have the assumption someone brought a cat or two with him and migrated into Kryta. Said person’s cat likely bred with a local species, and what we see today aren’t purebreds. Though, should they really be called Melandru Stalkers? Also! Is there any actual lore stating how they 1) survived 2) moved across? Any names mentioned?
A mini but curious rage. Opinions?

Maybe if we spent less time on, “Murr we want this, murr,” or, “Blah this isn’t here yet,” and spent a little more time being productive at least we can say we tried to contribute? What I mean by this is that the Devs have already stated that they don’t respond well to whining / drama llamaing. So, if we want them to respond at large maybe we could try taking negatives and making them neutrals or positives.
Example, expand.
“Murr, I want guild halls.”
Okay, well, how could you see them being added into the game? What type of progression do you see? Will it be a gem store thing like arenas? Will it be guild progression through missions? Will it be gold like in Guild Wars?
“Murr other games had this, this, and THIS!”
Maybe expand on the types of guild hall designs (this goes for player housing too) that they could add. In Guild Wars there was everything from the Jade Sea to Kryta. What do you envision? Do you want to see certain achievements added? Do you want to be able to buy things for your guild hall (like merchants, or chairs?).
Promote productivity. Some of you are already doing this but I encourage the rest of you to do it. That way, these threads stop getting so much overlook because of whining, and may actually get reviewed and tips even taken.

I’m making the effort to move this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Uninstanced-Salma-new-walls/first
Here.
Along with an official statement,
Dear ArenaNet,
We, your roleplay community, have been fairly quiet on these forums. It is ot often that we complain about in game mechanics, or that we fuss over people being too strong in PvP. We’re fairly quiet, because well, we’re out experiencing the rich lore and world that you have designed for us— and all players. However, I speak for many, when I say that your RP community is quite upset with how you’ve blocked off U. Salma, and ultimately, a very high level RP spot for players.
The role playing community is relatively quiet on the forum here (for the most part) because of one reason: Arena Net did a good job of keeping role players entertained by giving us access to certain locations and allowing us to find ways to create our own stories without getting stressed in the process.
However, when locations start to get closed off after players have been using certain locations for months at a time, it’s extremely upsetting to those participating in such places. A building or a house being shut away is one thing, but an entire district of Divinity’s Reach is a whole different story.
Now I can understand why Arena Net might want to close off an area like that. Reducing the amount of players visiting that location probably saves a bundle on memory usage across the server, but so does removing unnecessary objects, scripted events, etc. from certain locations. I can understand you want your world to feel more alive, Arena Net, but at the very same time if your servers are over cluttered and you need to conserve memory, removing some stuff would be a good choice. For example: You could set it where the NPCs and such only appear in Instanced Salma during personal story quests, but then remove the NPCs running around in Uninstanced Salma District because there’s no reason for them to be there if nobody can see them.
Optimization. I can understand the desire to clean up your world a bit to smooth performance, but don’t do it at the expense of the players’ enjoyment. Remove mobs from a location that gets WAY too much action (such as saving the Ascalon Settlement with those centaurs that never stop spawning up at the Dwayna Courtyard), and that’s just an example. There have always been a lot of places that need more attention and more bug / glitch solving than a location such as Uninstanced Salma.
Which again begs the question of why Arena Net would choose to close the location off.
It’s been said already that role players have been using that location for their own role play for about nine months (give or take) and so it’s a popular location with establishments that players have created (such as a tea house) and it helps them find enjoyment in their evening hours (or whenever time it is when you hooligans decide to role play).
The problem is that not everyone who plays MMO games is a hardcore PvP / WvW / PvE player. Not everyone wants to spend their evening hours farming for tier 6 materials in Orr or Frostgorge for their legendary weapon. Not everyone wants to get all of their characters to max level with the best gear and the best builds and the best dungeon farming solo groups and blah blah blah. There are a LOT of people who play the game to role play, but it seems more and more that the role playing community is being punished while new PvE / PvP / WvW content is released.
So… why close off such a heavily used location? Really we just want an honest answer, not a quick “It was an exploit that we closed off” answer. From what I’ve seen, the role play community within Guild Wars 2 is very understanding and mature (for the most part), so we’ll understand if it was a real issue that was causing trouble on your end, Arena Net. Just please be honest with us.
I would appreciate if a Dev could read, and respond to this — or the other forum.
Thank you kindly,
A Roleplayer.
(edited by Mint Rain.6798)
Dear Devs,
Hello again! As to keep this fairly simple and brief, I’m going to cut right to the chase and hope that this provides you with as much detail as possible.
As you’re aware, there is an entire roleplay community, spread over multiple servers, that have all been asking for one thing in particular. Chairs. Now, in an earlier discussion about this, it had been mentioned that chairs were difficult to add into the game (we’re talking about chairs we can sit on), due to the different seating portions. So I took some time to think about how this could be adjusted.
And I figured it out!
One of the biggest things that ArenaNet has to manage is their money. Any gaming company has to. The argument that players can just convert game gold to gems is still a valid one, but I’ll be the first to admit that even I’m lazy when something super cools comes out and I want it now.
Now, we’re already aware that NPCs have the ability to sit on things. That means, the code itself is in the game, it’s just not readily available to every player. So the idea, and solution?
Sell chairs on the trading post/gem store. Now, I know you’re not here to tend to just the RP community, and yes, this would be a huge but absolutely loved vanity for us. So I’ll speak for the PvE and PvP community as well. As someone who used to be a hardcore PvPer I can certainly vouch for the amount of, “LOL I BEAT YOU,” attitude that people have. Whipping out a chair and sitting it down on someone’s face after battle would provide entertainment for the winner, and a fussy-pout for the loser. For those who enjoy PvE? Well, they buy flutes and other vanities, don’t they?
That gets me into how it would work. The chair would be much like your flute, where it sits in your bag. You could use it in Town Clothing, or in Armor, and double click it. You would then have the option to sit on the chair. You could even add extra things in, like dance on the chair, or with the chair, depending on how many skills you’d like it to have.
Overall, you’d be gaining:
Gem sales
Happy consumers
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
~Mint.
P.S
I used the term “Trading Post,” simply because I (and others) identify the trading post with the gem store (same button). I do mean selling it on the Gem Store (hence gem store sales!).
Update:
When it comes to skills: You could add the five basic race seats (1-5), 6 could be sit/stop sitting, 7-9 would be vanity or empty, and then your exit.
This was originally posted here but per.site adjustments I am moving it into the proper location.
This is . . . amazing. Allllll of my yes.
I made a way for waypoints to make sense, having what we have in game and knowing what we know from interviews. Please note this is completely fandom, whereas I’ve gone to lengths to try and make it make sense, it is not confirmed by ArenaNet.
The thread can be viewed there.
Yes, these are confirmed lore. It has been stated in a dev interview, and you also see them being used in game. See above for examples, along with Orr and how the golems use them.
snip
If you know that Anet is listening, they’ve even admitted that she wasn’t well presented, and are about to wrap her “season” up, what are you complaining about? There’s nothing that can be done about her at this point, right?
Which is precisely why this thread isn’t about, “She’s doing this, this, and this wrong,” and more about, “Hey wouldn’t this be nice!?”
SPOILER WARNING
I decided to expand a little on this concept. As I thought on it, I considered reasons why it may not happen (just throwing hypothetical concepts in my head other than, ’They’ve already written it.‘). One of the reasons I came up with was the fact that this game is not only for lore/story, but also PvE (and PvP). I thought of a dungeon concept that they would have, and I figured it’ll look something similar to this:
The player characters discover Scarlet’s lair. They go to defeat Scarlet, but half to defeat waves of: Molten Alliance, Aetherblades, and Twilight Alliance. They then defeat Scarlet.
We already know that the MA — to some degree — is still functioning/in assistance, because of the Wintersday patch and the Tower. It’s a good base idea for a dungeon if you’re going for something with a gauntlet theme, or even just a base theme. This is a concept that’s frequently seen / used (looking at you World of Warcraft). However, it doesn’t have a lot of story potential, which is the biggest problem right now. So, problem solving, I continued to come up with an answer to this question, using the C&E I posted above. It would look like this.
Through the Living Story, we see the alliances beginning to turn on Scarlet. Eventually (and maybe with some assistance), the player character, Jory, and friends discover how to get into Scarlet’s lair .
For the sake of simplicity, I built this lair with levels in my head. Her, being at either the top or bottom.
First Level: Work with <name> of the Molten Alliance and defeat the Clockwork Horrors .
First Level: Work with <name> of the Flame Legion against the Dredge and Clockwork Horrors .
First Level: Work with <name> of the Dredge against the Flame Legion and Clockwork Horrors .
I gave a few variants of how to do the first level. Admittedly, I’m fond of the first.
Second Level: Work with <name> of the Krait to defeat the Courtiers and Clockwork Horrors .
Second Level: Work with <name> of the Court to defeat the Krait and Clockwork Horrors .
Second Level: Work with <name> of the Twilight Alliance to defeat the Clockwork Horrors .
The first concept is going by the idea that was posted on the thread. The Krait slaughter Courtiers for their betrayal and manipulations, and seek revenge to please their prophet. I would truthfully choose the first or the last.
Third Level: Work with <name> of the Aetherblades to disarm the traps while defeating the Clockwork Horrors .
This idea would be your gauntlet and CoE-inspired (that room where you have to use the console while things blow up on you). Of course, it can be an easy, “Get from one side to the other,” but I’m fond of the gauntlet concept. I think it would add some difficulty.
With the Aetherblades they could even do a “civil war,” idea. Where you’re fighting against Aetherblades who are still loyal, and the horrors. I have boss fights for each level, look!
First level:
This would likely be a Clockwork Horror. Although, if you go with the other two options it can be a “leader,” or, "head of the organization.
Second level:
If you go with the first option, it could be a retinue member, another corrupted tree (maybe something with Scarlet-tech).
A clockwork horror for the last.
A krait for the middle.
Third level:
If you go with the civil war idea? It could be a leader / assistant of Scarlet. Maybe even the “leader” of the Aetherblades (considering Scarlet is boss, it would be someone she’s placed beneath her). It could be a commander. In fact, any Aetherblade official works.
The gauntlet, if made hard enough, could be considered the boss fight.
Lastly, it could be Scarlet’s “OMGWORLDDESTRUCTIONDEVICEOFDOOM,” clockwork horror. Maybe something that takes pieces of all the patches and stuffs them together (a flame blowing, toxin spewing, super golem).
Final floor. Defeat Scarlet .
At this point, you have all three NPCs helping you (MA, TA, Aether + Friends). You either kill or capture Scarlet (maybe you want to capture, your MA, TA, Aether friends disagree and turn on you? Get creative!). At this point:
She’s been betrayed
Revenge is sweet.
Scarlet is gone (dead/captured)
We get a cool (imo) dungeon
????
Profit.

There was discussion (sorry for the alt-link), here:
http://www.guildwars2roleplayers.com/forum/page/1/m/2737230/viewthread/5911959-gregorian-to-mouvelian-calender-conversion-charts/post/33247796#p33247796
Now, of course, there’s things missing / don’t perfectly line up, and the calender is being remade (I suggest reading the first post, going to the end of the thread, and reading backwards like you would do in build threads). It might help out with the days, where they are, and how to mathematically do it in you head. However, I do agree with Konig when it comes to,
If you’re wanting simple dating for your character’s age: the game began in 1325 AE (same year as Zhaitan’s death and the Karka invasion), and is currently in 1326 AE (the year of all of Scarlet’s antics so far; once Wintersday is over, it’ll be 1327 AE given current state of things). So if you want your characters to be, say, 28 when Zhaitan died then said character(s) will have been born in 1297 A.E. In regards to dating, it is done in the format of <Day> <Season> <Year> – e.g., 09 Season of the Phoenix 1326 A.E.
So long as you avoid going above the 90th day of a season, you don’t need to know where those five days are placed in the year (of if there’s a leap year).
But yup!
I want to give this shout out here too. Angel McCoy, Scott McGough, and Stéphane Lo Presti, you were all wonderful and easy to work with. The material you have provided will be amazing for discussions. I want to thank those who take the time to read, discuss, and comment on this interview! Admittedly, it’s my first one. So, I’m quite thrilled with how it turned out. For now, that’s all from me. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

Hi everyone!
So, I know that there are a handful of people who are really dedicated to lore in the thread too. So, if you follow that link above, it’ll take you to the home page of GW2RP. There, I have an interview I did with (as the title says) Scott McGough and Angel McCoy. I hope you enjoy it!

I’d like a chair for Wintersday?
There’s something to show for a community that cares. Over the course of having made this thread on 2RP, I’ve found something incredibly touching, something that has restored my faith in humanity. That people will actually stop looking at what they can’t give, and look at what they can.
GW2RP.com is a website for the Roleplayers of Guild Wars 2. We’ve voiced our opinions a few times on this thread (Salma, Chairs, Scarlet), . . .but for the most part we’re fairly quiet. I’m not here to complain, or bring complaints, I’m here to show that despite everything that we as players kick and scream about, despite the hatred in map chat, or the trolling in PvP — There’s genuine kindness out there.
The thread started off fairly simple:
List the things you’d like to have, or that your characters would like to have! . . .What wasn’t expected was how well received it would be, and how far players would go out of their way. People have been gifting things like weapons (up to 70g worth!), t6 materials for legendaries, armor (TP and Gemstore), mini’s and so much more. I, myself, received Vision of the Mists (which is an item usually between 230-250g), and much more.
Wintersday is one holiday that, no matter what your beliefs are in real life, you can come together and celebrate this one in game. So thank you ArenaNet, for making something that brings players together, and this Wintersday season? Thank you to everyone who spends some time thinking about others, instead of themselves.

Maybe there could be a bar, like on the flute (using it for reference), with a new selection of skills. Those could be poses?
I originally posted this on Konig’s Theory Crafting thread. However, I felt it was a tad off subject and I didn’t want to disrupt the flow that thread was heading in. Therefore, I’ll make my own thread. Basically, this was a discussion between a friend and I on skype. For his sake, I’ve turned his name into, “My Friend,” instead of his real name. <3
I think that in order to make Scarlet’s story line a little more worth it they need to start releasing heavier details:
Hints / Explantions to why she is doing what she’s doing
Further explanation on her mental disabilities and how they effect the world around her
Maybe a fall out with the Aetherblades? She’s totally using them. No one likes being used forever
Maybe a boss fight with her — let us see how Scarlet handles herself. Maybe she actually has to run away from us (she has shown a lot of signs to being a coward).
[1:54:50 PM] Mint: A lot of hate coming from her is because we see:
[1:57:06 PM] Mint: Scarlet portraying herself as this insane character who’s super powerful — with no real proof. We don’t know why she’s insane, why she’s doing what she’s doing, or even really how she’s doing it. Answering those questions to a larger degree than they are now would really help that character. On a power scale, people are acknowledging that some how it’s her when it really isn’t. The cause-and-effect -ISN’T- her. The TA? Sure, she probably gave them a suggestion and some nice things but. Who built the tower? NC/Krait. Who’s spreading the hallucinations? NC/Krait. Who’s inside the tower? NC/Krait. Throughout the entire TA plot— you’re fighting . . . well, TA.
[1:57:47 PM] Mint: So whereas she is involved in the influence-of, she’s kinda failing in the activity-of. Which I wonder if it ties into her. . .
[1:57:54 PM] Mint: “Let’s play, okay I’m bored bye.”
[1:58:00 PM] My Friend: Exactly.
[1:58:18 PM] My Friend: That’s my issue, really. She’s just “there”.
[1:58:21 PM] Mint: But this:
[1:57 PM] Mint: “Let’s play, okay I’m bored bye.”
Is a mental flaw.
[1:58:34 PM] Mint: And if they DO play it off as. . .
[1:58:42 PM] Mint: “Hey I’ll help you, okay now I’m bored, bye”
[1:58:50 PM] Mint: I can really see people ultimately -turning- on her.
[1:59:12 PM] Mint: And it would be (though I doubt they’ll do this), interesting if the alliances she’s assisted / influenced -betrayed- her.
[2:00:05 PM] My Friend: I would absolutely love that.
[2:00:14 PM] My Friend: I want her to have underestimated them.
[2:01:38 PM] My Friend: In fact, that whole analysis there:
[2:01:41 PM] My Friend: Post it somewhere.
Soo I’m posting it here. Basically the summery is:
Scarlet has shown a lot of signs to start something, and then abandon it. However, it’s no longer studies she’s doing this with, but sentient beings, who could ultimately turn on her. I think it would be a smooth and fascinating transition if these villains we’ve all come to note (the alliances, Aetherblades, etc), ultimately turned on her in some form of sweet betrayal. Either they assist, prompt, or cause her demise (cue Scarlet dieing as her machines close in on her?). Betrayal is beautiful in writing, and I feel like it would be a satisfactory end to the character.
There’s enough Scarlet hate, but I’d like to hear your opinions on this train of thought.
UPDATE
(edited by Mint Rain.6798)
I vote for Jormag as well. He has driven the Norn from their homes, and has his general terrorizing Frostgorge Sound, while not being that far away himself. This will be a perfect excuse to revisit areas from Eye of the North. I want to see the outside of the Hall of Monuments, and visit the towns and outposts from GW1.
Jormag is the closest Elder Dragon right now, so it makes sense to add him next. No one knows where Kralkatorrik is, only that he flew south towards the desert.
Alongside this, if we killed Kral, there would be nothing stopping us from aiding Elona. That, would create the need for a new mass content, when we don’t even have Tyria (land) fully open.
I vote Jormag in agreement with Malafide’s statements.
Game is called Guild Wars because of the lore, for the record.
Writer’s Note
I used the term “Trading Post,” simply because I (and others) identify the trading post with the gem store (same button). I do mean selling it on the Gem Store (hence gem store sales!).
Dear Devs,
Hello again!
