It’s not an exploit to go to mists lobby and portal to LA, from which you can enter any city for free. I wouldn’t see them taking that away as players make alts to PvP on, and shouldn’t be required to play PvE to enjoy the aspect of the game they like.

Agree with this, I don’t think this has ever been viewed as an “exploit” – certainly hope they don’t change it now! I’ve played since the betas, and many newcomer guides listed this as one of the things to “know” when you first start playing GW2. So most people have been aware of this option, and I’ve always assumed I am using it with Anet’s blessing. As to the OP, I agree it would be nice to be able to directly WP to main cities free of cost, since we are able to do it anyway via the Mists.

I’m in North America, central time, so my reset is 6:00 pm. I feel for you OP, because I was literally minutes away from completing daily (had one more event to find) and missed it today. Had a very busy day and couldn’t make it in time (same for last night). Sometimes it just works out that way. I’m glad it’s a good reset for other areas of the globe – but I agree, it’s not so great for NA.

In the grand scheme of things, it really doesn’t matter tho.
But it’s certainly nice to finish the dailies when we can.

Ok, I just want to be sure I understand – I logged on for the event today, there is an instance (Tixx’s Infinirarium) that says explorable mode 2, recommended group of 5 – is this the toymaker event that’s happening each day?

I don’t usually run dungeons (I die a lot, and they just aren’t fun for me lol) but I realize this might be a “different” kind of dungeon. So perhaps some that have run it will give some feedback – would it still be fun for those players who don’t normally enjoy dungeons?

I dislike dungeons in general – but I tried a few here in GW2 (3 I think) – the experience definitely did not change my mind.

I haven’t read the entire thread, but in case a red name might actually read this thread, just throwing my 2 coppers in – I only log in on one char to get my daily now. (I had planned to be an altoholic.) I’m hoping to get excited about the game again in the future. Tried to figure out why I stopped logging in to actually play, and (altho there are other reasons), one thing that really bothers me is (lack of) loot drop.

My personal preference is yes, I do wish they were account-bound, not character specific. But I remember when that was the original intent (it was either in beta, or perhaps it was pre-beta?) – then later changed. It’s not a game-breaker for me, of course, just would prefer the dyes to be available to all my characters.

I’m playing casually, leveling some alts to get dailies, definitely not running FotM dungeons, leveling some crafting albeit slowly (I realized how much of a grind that was going to be, I’m one of those that likes to do all of the crafting professions.)

It’s kind of like I fell in love with GW2 during beta, but ….. it’s “different” now.

I’ve wondered about this myself. Don’t let it translate to WvW, or even out-in-the-world PvE (altho to me that wouldn’t really have as much of an effect as WvW). Keeping it applicable to the (new?) dungeons might be a good answer to a highly contested issue.

Well, there will be one at my house – smelling my pumpkin pie as we speak.

I don’t know that I have seen a Thanksgiving event in the MMO’s I play, usually an Autumn Fest or some such. Would be funny to see some risen turkeys tho …

Perhaps being an optimist, but I think they could still salvage things, stopping at ascended gear and not adding additional statted gear every so many months. I am just not sure who is in charge now tho, or if there’s been a power shift, and perhaps will never know for sure. But I do think it’s not too late to stop with ascended and make future content more in line with the original vision of Anet.

Whether or not that will happen though, that is my question. At the moment, still playing and watching to see what develops …

Sorry, not saying everyone’s viewpoint isn’t valid and relevant, it is – just had to get that out. Unfortunately, seems like the ship has sailed, so we’ll all have to make our decision on whether to coninue with the game in its current form.

haha well I will admit that earlier when I learned the JP was named “Under New Management” I had a big “hmmmmmmm” moment. Didn’t know what 4373 stood for, thanks for that. It does seem like a big shift has taken place, that’s for sure.

I have experienced the same thing – guild chat and guild forums (2 guilds) are opposite of what I read here.

Ugh, I feel awful for ppl who DC’d and didn’t get chest at end. I was able to play it through from start to finish, had a good time, guess I would say I enjoyed it. (I usually don’t like really long events, but once I started I didn’t want to quit, so glad I saw it through.) Lot of dead bodies, tho – but we were able to rez and continue on. So guess I would say – crab’s back on the menu, boys!

Thank you for the clarification, Stephane. I am somewhat of a “completionist”, so I do want to know that have completed the necessary steps for phase 1.

I didn’t read the preceding 7 pages (I usually do, just short on time – it’s usually depressing anyway).

Just wanted to say thanks for the update. Altho I did experience quite a bit of lag, I enjoyed the opening event. (Thinking of other “one-time events” I have attended in other MMO’s, the lag was always there, some were actually much worse.) My attacks were slow, but I still had a blast, and we cleared the Karka. (Never could get back to the NPC with my collections, unsure whether to keep my stash as a trophy reminder now or not :P)

While it was disheartening to have the NPC’s bugged/broken, I did enjoy interacting with the crowd that had gathered. Rather than loot and pillage, we told bad jokes and danced. Hopefully the troubleshooting your team did will enable future events to progress more smoothly. I have enjoyed the storyline of the chain, and look forward to phases 2 and 3.

I thought names from GW were only reserved for 3 days from GW2 head start, or launch, can’t remember which – after which, anyone could use the name, whether or not someone else was using it in GW. Is this what OP is referring to? If so, that ship has sailed, I fear.

I will add my thanks, Eveningstar. I am a bit disillusioned about my lvl 80 character right now, so am trying out the different alts that I rolled at launch. I actually thought Guardian would be my main before launch, but was lured away by the all the pretty lights .

I have started playing her today, and found your guide. Very helpful, and I’m hoping that I will enjoy this profession – your information and insights will certainly put me on that path, I hope.

I would have to say yes. I played from the betas, and have thoroughly enjoyed myself. However, I have a ranger at 80, and am really ambivalent about trying to equip to the nines and continue playing her. The endgame zones are not really fun. So am playing with my alts (have 5, with plans for a 6th alt). None of them are grabbing me – /sad face. Crafting is not really as satisfying as I thought it would be. Drops seem bad to me, and not just because of DR, I have always thought they were lacking May have to back away for a while and see if the old spark comes back. Really sad because I have been so extremely stoked about the game. I feel fickle. LOL!

Not all games are for everybody, but I seriously thought I would be playing GW2 for around 2 yrs – and that still may happen, just need to see how things pan out.

But for those who are still going strong, awesome! Go for it! Maybe I’ll get my mojo back

Edit: And I expected something a bit different from storylines. I was really looking forward to those, more from a lore/story standpoint than anything. They seem a bit .. difficult. I know, I know, L2P and all that. But still, some seem very difficult (Durmond Priory esp) and I’m not really encouraged about completing them. Partying up can help, but “personal story” seemed to indicate solo to me … I dunno.

Ok, no harpy event – does anyone by chance remember where the event chain starts? Sometimes talking to an NPC will trigger a DE, just can’t find anything to get this started. (Or perhaps DE is bugged out too). Or on another note, is there a specific time for HoD server restart? Maybe that’s what I need to be shooting for

Hmmm … I’ve been trying to get this one for quite a while now on HoD. Is it random when he becomes a seller? Mardine is not firing cows, but he is not a vendor and cannon is not clickable. Just wondering if it became broken after your post.

It does seem that the time is well overdue for the free server transfers to end. I think they did serve a purpose, however; I spent time on different servers to get an overall feel for the communities there and the population (in both PvE and WvW, because I enjoy both). But I decided on a server weeks ago, so hopefully everyone has landed where they want to be. As far as WvW goes, free server transfers are really not helping matters at this point.

If I never see another butter drop, it will still be too soon (and I do have cooking craft, among others). I would be happy to see it go back to vendor.

It takes a while to get the fines for crafting (not even mentioning rares), so the butter (and to an extent, chocolate) drops seem to lower the drop rate for these even further.

Ok, wow, I had no idea this has been bugged for well over 2 weeks. Like others, would be nice to get the completion. I can understand that perhaps this is low priority for some, but a little “bump” never hurts. Give the cow launcher some love, Anet!

I am experiencing the same thing … keep killing them (for 30 minutes or more) – my eyes are glazing over

Edit: Okay, there are a couple of undead out at the periphery that never move in – went out there to kill them, another swarm or 2 moved in – but after that the 2nd wave message popped up – that took about 15 seconds (?) and now going to 3rd wave. So does seem that something a little wonky is happening with the first wave.

I had to bring a friend (guardian) with me – this was before the recent update – we still died a couple of times before making it – we were both overleveled (yeah, I know you level down, but still helps a bit). So really glad you made changes to this.

And I appreciate the fact the the devs need feedback to tweak these issues. There will always be the “this is too easy, just l2p, learn to dodge, learn your class” etc. But if a large number of ppl are really having issues with a specific quest, we need to remember to post on these forums, that’s the only way to let Anet know.

On a side note, I just hope they will allow those who help others out on storylines to get some sort of reward – it’s my understanding that right now you get nada, not even karma. That kind of throws a wet blanket on the dynamic team feeling GW2 is creating.

Finally finished it last night – someone had posted start to run before the flags die down, which I did, and made it. Perhaps luck, I dunno. And I could never revive from a downed state, the red bar will move left the more I used my revive skills. (Sounds like there will be an option in upcoming update re changing checkpoint, so hopefully that will make the quest better for those coming after me.)

The thing I most love about GW2 is that the dev team seemed to try to remove the really annoying features you find in other MMO’s. So I guess it’s finding that balance between challenging and downright “really no good reason for this” annoying.

On a side note – I wish everything didn’t seem to involve a jumping puzzle!! (Haha, I’ll prob get flamed for that) I am completing all of my zones and attempting to complete my Sylvari/Priory storyline. Jumping seems to be a signature feature of GW2 LOL. But I am getting pretty good at it – haven’t asked my daughter to do it for me, not once.

Regarding Priory storyline, I had planned to take another character thru Priory also (will have 2 for each order, they kind of fit, lore-wise) – but I’m rethinking going thru Priory twice.
