TWICE.
JQ Pride: T1 since 2012
GS was able to capture Blackgate’s garrison twice during reset. I’m truly shocked by how little resistance Blackgate was able to put up while we took their defensive structure. It was fun and exciting to be able to capture the garrison and we hope to show our strength in future resets.
We came into the borderland outmanned but not outgunned. Our perseverance and leadership and teamwork was able to pave the way for an exceptional reset for Jade Quarry server.
Welcome to the Gun Show, T1.
Guild Master
Here is our recruitment page on the Blackgate website. You can find recent raid and GvG videos in the thread.
We are fielding 18-25 each raid so far. We’d like to bump that up to around 30. Any players looking for a highly motivated WvW environment will feel at home in GS.
Our high priority classes for recruitment right now are necros and warriors. You can apply at http://gunsquad.enjin.com/recruitment

The Inventions variant is crap.
1) The Invigorating Speed and Speedy Kits combo gives you perma-swiftness (33% movement speed), which is obviously superior to permanent 25% boost.
2) If you want protection, kitten ICD Prot Injection is better than a 20s ICD Prot Shield.
3) Reset of stunbreak (Slick Shoes or EGun) > Reset of Turret heal
Inventions line should NOT be featured in the Ranked Arena build page. Roaming page, people use all kinds of different builds there so it doesn’t matter.

Here is our latest GvG, this time with Syn from SoS.

Thank for the feedback. It was pretty clear to the organizers what went right and what could have been done better so our next workshop will be improved off of that. Remember that this is the first time that something like this has been done in recent memory; overall, I thought the discussion was quite nice and informative.
If anyone’s interested in helping to organize the next event, feel free to contact me.

Guild Master
Tier 1 GvG Workshop
Date: August 2nd – 4pm EST
Hosted in gvg-workshop.teamspeak3.com
Goal: For the health of Guild Wars 2 WvW community – Introduce Tier 1 community to the Open Field Fights/GvG Playstyle
Organizers: [OnS] Haru, [OnS] Malevolent Omen
Introduction
The Tier 1 Guild vs. Guild Initiative is a joint effort of the GvG community to introduce the open field fights playstyle to the North American Tier 1 community. It is our firm belief that a fighting playstyle will benefit Tier 1 greatly as it leads to healthy and fair competition that is based on player PvP skill and group synergy.
However, this does not have to be at the cost of different playstyles. The goal of this Initiative is to promote a mutual understanding between the Tier 1 community guilds that playing for fights and playing for server rating are not mutually exclusive; when server communities come together with the understanding that each server needs to maintain a certain rating in a tier, we will be able to focus less on pushing hard for PPT and more towards fun and competitive fights.
While GvG’s are intimidating at first, it is our hope that the workshops hosted by this Initiative will gradually introduce all guilds in Tier 1 to the open field fights playstyle and allow the scene to flourish in this tier.
What will happen during the workshop?
The purpose of the workshop is to give a direct line of communication to a wealth of resources regarding open field fighting and GvGs for the Guild Wars 2 WvW community. The drivers that have been selected to sit on the panel represent some of the top core drivers of the GvG community; these drivers have exceeded expectations in this playstyle and have revolutionized this game that we love playing. During the workshop, the panel will be asked a series of questions designed to highlight key factors in the GvG scene, whether it be driving, tactics, meta, or other salient aspects of GvG success. The panel will be able to discuss these different topics in depth with the hope that those listening will be able to pick up key strategies to bring back to their own guilds. After that, participants will have a chance to ask their own questions. Participants in the workshop will sit in a Teamspeak channel where permissions to speak will be granted by our moderators in order to maintain order during this workshop; to speak or ask a question, you must indicate it in the Teamspeak chat box and a moderator will put you in queue.

Highly recommend for anyone looking for a PPT focused environment. One of the best PPT focused guilds in the game, up there with the likes of [Tsym] and [KnT]
Onslaught has recently shifted focus towards GvGs and open-field fights. We almost exclusively run unpinned in a private channel with 20-25 nightly.
Our recent GvG endeavors have resulted in wins against DN, PR, SF, STUN, and QT.

Current Recruitment Needs
*Guardians – Medium
*Elementalist – Low
*Necromancers – High
*Warrior – Low
Exceptions will be made for exceptional players looking to join us with an unlisted main class.
Prior GvG experience is a plus.
About Us
Effective gamers are quick thinkers, and make sensible decisions with precise reaction time and accuracy. In Onslaught, we attest to do just that. We have a community of dedicated players who have gamed with each other for years. Only players of great quality find themselves entwined in our ranks. In other words, the cliché, Quality over Quantity would be a sound explanation of our values regarding our roster. Onslaught is not for everyone. If you cannot listen, learn, or excel in a competitive environment, Onslaught most certainly is not for you.
However, we look forward to working with those who may not be on our skill level. As long as the persons interested are willing to work hard, and take constructive criticism, we do not mind helping them. We are loyal to each other and that will never change. We also consist of mature players and if you are offended easily by derogatory or profane language you might want to reconsider your interest in Onslaught.
WvW content and all its glory is what most of our members focus on. However, we plan to take part in all aspects of the games we play in order to enhance our capability across the board, but WvW is our main focus. Whether that means, PPT or open-field play.
It’s important to understand that Onslaught is a hybrid guild. Meaning, we can play like a fighter guild or we can play PPT and map politics. Our play style greatly depends on a number of key factors: The commander or driver, the week, and our server mates. We like to keep it fresh and entertaining to prevent burnout.
Requirements
Must be willing to change spec to fit guild synergy composition.
Must be willing to learn and improve.
Must have working microphone and the ability to call or shout cool-downs, blast fields, and combat actions.
Must be consistently active during North American Prime Time.
Must be able to take constructive criticism.
Must rep 100% during raid times and training.

It’s unfortunate that you feel that way but allow me to clarify a few points.
I clearly stated that the purpose of this workshop is to educate and encourage T1 guilds to start playing in an open field fights/GvG style. This has nothing to do with ego-stroking; everyone who is on the panel does have skills and experiences that bring unique perspectives to the GvG scene. Now, not only do Gismor or James have extensive open field and GvG experience, but they also bring familiarity with the T1 WvW community. James has spent months in T1 from back when he was in Choo and recently with TE. Gismor is on BG and also understands how T1 works. Do note that with Jericho, Odin, and Indevar (who recently said he would attend), who are arguably three of the best drivers in the history of NA GvG, are also on this panel. Intigo has been with the very best guilds in EU and surely will bring interesting perspectives to our discussion. You can start to see how this panel has been balanced to fit both technical and community needs.
With that being said, depending on the success of our initial GvG workshop, we hope to continue organizing these events with new drivers/players on the discussion panels. If you feel that there is someone that could bring a unique perspective to the table regarding GvG and its application to T1, please feel free to get in contact with me in-game or through this forum and I will certainly listen to your recommendations.
Guild Master
LOL I’m laughing at some of the people on that list. Three of the people that are on it don’t know jack kitten but to hump the meta and toughness and call out Sacrx comms because they are too stupid to come up with their own.
Where are HOPE, Ark, PYRO, APeX? who cares if PYRO is gone get in contact with their old raid leader, Ark is still around HOPE still plays so does APeX. People hump the kittening toughness beat a guild and they think they are better. Get EU guilds as well, yes they hump the meta and toughness far more than NA but kitten they would be better than some of the people on that list.
Ark runs some crazy kittened up builds, but they are still a force to be reckoned with. APeX hasn’t had a periphery team at all, yet they are still sitting as one of the top guilds in NA (it would be really interesting when APeX does get a periphery team) they play old fashion and still kitten . HOPE runs a kitten ton of people but they still have far more knowledge then a handful of people on that list. PYRO was known to be one of the most adaptable guilds in NA.
It is just appalling to see some of the people that have been chosen to represent the NA GvG scene, absolutely shocking. I honestly can’t wait to hear the crap that will be coming out of the mouths of some of those people.
Hey there, just a little perspective from the organizers of the event. You have to understand that we only have so much time for the event to happen and thus had to make the difficult decision of curating a panel that was balanced and that could address the multiple needs of the T1 WvW community. Being chosen to sit on the Expert Panel is not about who was the best driver or most successful GvG guild; rather, the Expert Panel represents a wide range of different skill sets and familiarity with the T1 WvW community.
This GvG Workshop is about learning, nothing more, nothing less. Please leave the bitterness and emotions at the door.
Also, this will hopefully be the first of many workshops, so there will be opportunities for others to sit on discussion panels.

Ascended armor is only worth the cost if you consistently play high level fractals. If that’s not the case, I strongly recommend you stick with exotic armor and focus on getting appropriate ascended trinkets and then weapons. Ascended armor is expensive to make and the stat gain is minimal. You actually gain more stats through infusions.
TL;DR – Berserker ascended armor only.
Guild Master
They have never fielded 50. I don’t know ANY guild that can field over 40 on a consistent basis.
IRON used to near queue a map by themselves – they used to start raiding during mid-late Oceanic with 20-30, peaking late SEA~mid EU prime at 50ish. There are a lot of T1 guilds able to do that. WvW in JQ is able to queue a map and then some, if all their members rep (a lot of cross-rep with Ge and ATM). CERN/PINK/ZzZz etc. are able to do that in TC if they rep one guild (I was told that there’s a lot of cross-repping involved, please correct me if I’m wrong). AoI and ND in BG can field huge numbers as well, with GoF, iCoa and KnT regularly fielding 30-40 and 40+ on reset night.
Hell, even TW and Choo used to field 40+
You’d be tolerable to listen to if you had your facts somewhat close to the truth.
Guild Master
Overflow hopping is tedious. The map feels like a wvw hotjoin, but it doesn’t have a hotjoin UI to swap maps or even queue for. I would like to queue for a full map my friends are in.
Group with you friends, right click on their name, select “join friend” (or something like that)
Rather tedious when you’re trying to get a whole guild into an instance.
Guild Master
I heard the OS has been poppin for fights this week. Time for me to head down there when I get the chance for some nice duels! :>
Guild Master
I think the funniest thing about warriors is how much they resemble cats. The second they don’t see something they like, they immediately greatsword 3/5 rush outta there. Usually accompanied by a sword 2 or that one hammer leap. Hilarious.
I am annoyed with the warrior class in general, and I don’t find mine fun to play. It makes the cheese that is the mesmer class look tame. I would rather fight a PU mesmer and actually have a shot at killing them than I would fight a warrior who I know will bail as soon as things get tough. Warriors are just as skittish/lame as thieves except they have insane survivability and CC so when they come back from resetting the fight they have a better chance at winning.
@Prysin.8542
You can’t even use stun breakers or stability against a warrior. Why? Because they have access to more CC than any other class has access to stability/stunbreakers.
Earthshaker
Hammer Shock
Staggering blow
Throw Bolas
Pin Down
Stomp
Bull’s Charge
Rifle Butt
Skull Crack
Tremor
Pummel Bash
Flurry
Shield Bash
KickThere’s only like one underwater CC. It’s completely out of control.
The worst part is that it is possible to have access to like 8 or 9 of these at one time, while still having room for balanced stance or another stability.
Seeing as stability makes you an unstoppable killing machine aside from direct/condition damage (which is useless because nobody can catch a warrior), damage should be severely reduced while under the effects of stability.
30/30/30/30/30 warriors are SO hard to counter!
Guild Master
I just want to ask you guys do you think it is actually possible to have balanced Tier 1 to tier 3 servers for the long run? One problem I see that make T1 servers unique coverage wise compared to T2 etc is that SEA/EU players tend to only converge to 1-3 servers to get other players to play with. Unless this problem is addressed, it’s hard to imagine achieving balance between T1 and T2 in the long run.
I remember there was a brief time when we did get a semi-balanced T1 and T2 between SOS/JQ/SBI?BG/SOR/IOJ, but it did not last long as eventually off-coverage players just moved to pretty much 3 servers. Now we have less off-coverage players around compared to that time, it is probably even less likely to get them to spread out.
T1 was pretty balanced the few weeks before season one of leagues.
Guild Master
Us players on BG are severely outnumbered by the huge militia blobs of JQ and SoR!!! Please halp us with even more guilds to help our amazing Smokee and Huggy Bears [HB] regain PPT dominance in EU!

No one is going to fall for the “BG is weak, we need more guilds!” pre-season crap again, Reverence.
If your memory is that short, then I really have no words… Everyone knows what happened to BG pre-leagues. Everyone had written BG off in winning league before it started. Every t1 server had equal queues 24/7 at the start of season 1 so there was no population imbalance. That’s all ancient history now. Suffice to say, SoR is the only server still whining about it.
We have no way of knowing what the difference between T1 and T2 is until there’s a different matchup than T1 getting each other week in and week out (which is fine, but some variety is good once in a blue moon, right?)
Lesson learned, you can never get through to someone brainwashed by the Church of Blackgate.
“Always outnumbered, lel, we ppt through skill” is the motto of every Blackgate preacher.

Specialty: Warrior and ele.
Active dungeons: All dungeons of Tyria.
Availability: Varies, but I’m usually on during NA prime time (7-12pm EST). I can always arrange something with a student.
Communication: Teamspeak preferred
Message:
You must have a good attitude, be willing to listen, learn, and improve, and have the appropriate meta gear and traits. The optimal student will have a broad understanding of the dungeon (Youtube is a great resource); I will focus more on speed clear tactics. Lupi melee is the exception; while I do expect at least a general understanding, I will go step-by-step with each of the moves involved in the fight. I enjoy teaching others and putting in the appropriate effort; I just ask for the same amount of effort in return.

talk crap when u can manage to win an open field fight. lol baggate ftw
I would hope they could win open field fights since they havn’t had any organized guild to fight against since IRON.
You calling IRON organized?
HB have been an EU / NA EST guild since last xmas, and we play just as often in each timezone. In NA prime we get plenty of fights vs. organized guilds
We are only out in the field ~2-4 times a week though, which could be the reason you dont always see us.
Seems like you have an unhealthy obsession with IRON, buddy.
Considering that HB dodged IRON repeatedly when you were on their own, you have little room to talk.

Soo I haven’t touched WvW on Sor since the 4th week of season 1. Can someone catch me up on the situation on this server?
IRON – Wrex left because of personal issues and new management decided to go back to EU?
TW – half the guild split up for some internal conflict of sorts?
FEAR – left the server recently?
RISE – Jarvan doesn’t play anymore and the guild is dead?
Hel – ?
Choo – ?
SAHP – ???I’m sure I’m missing somemore guilds but I haven’t played WvW in such a long time.
Hmm, let me try to help you out here.
IRON went back to EU, Gunnar’s Hold specifically. Talked to some old guildies there; they seem to be doing alright, actually.
TW had an internal split but I think the guild has become stronger with the influx of new recruits.
FEAR left for FA.
RISE is dead – a bunch of members are in TW now.
Hel is alive.
Choo is alive.
SAHP is dead. SSQ quit the game.
Guild Master
Also, did anyone else laugh at how hyperbolic the thread title is?
“For the sake of God…”
Guild Master
Does anyone know which server FEAR transferred to?
FA
Guilds traditionally would go to a competitive underdog server (SoR) to have good fights and competition. Instead, SoR is shedding guilds left right and centre.
3 guilds is shedding guilds left right and centre?
2 NA guilds, 1 Oceanic, 1 EU guild in the past 3 months, all of them big name guilds. I’d say so.
When RISE, MERC, TKG et al left BG, we were talked of as shedding guilds too remember? No? Selective memory?
Let’s talk about the four guilds you mentioned.
FEAR is a PPT heavy guild and it was getting annoying having to support their drives for PPT. Weren’t particularly skilled and blobbed a lot.
RET is a small guild that I cannot really comment on.
XPK can’t really be considered “big name” since no one really knows who they are…
IRON needed a boost and revision of strategy after the temporary loss of Wrex. Moving back to EU (GH) was their best bet and it seems like it has paid off.
So out of four recent departures, only one of them was truly a “loss” to SoR. Even so, one of the reasons why RET left to T2 was because they were bored of fighting BG and JQ blobs and wanted better competition from guilds on servers like SoS and Mag. Any RET member feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

So only having one real viable build per class isn’t broken?
So ANet shouldn’t try to increase the variety of viable builds in a way that isn’t nerfing the one build?
Viable != optimal. Just because zerker gear is optimal doesn’t mean it’s the only set viable.
When I say viable, I mean viable for speed runs. Most people in here seemed to get what I meant so I didn’t see the problem or feel the need to edit my post.
For speed runs, you want the best build and gear. Optimal = best. How can there be more than one best? Seems like you need to brush up on your English definitions.
PTV, cleric, and condition damage sets are viable (aka feasible) for all content, just simply not the best.

I never understood why people want to spend more time in a dungeon for the same reward.
The reward is usually as meaningful as the struggle/journey to obtain that reward… Ever heard the saying “the harder the battle, the sweeter the victory” ?
If you put it like that… why would you even want to spend any time in a dungeon, just have a starting vendor with all best gear in the game…
I get 3g out of an Arah path whether it takes me 15 minutes or an hour.
I’d rather take 15 minutes to do that Arah path and the rest to WvW.
