Anet clearly never cared about sPvP or the game would’ve had more than conquest long ago. It’s nothing more than a source of achievement points every day at this point.

The ranger doesn’t dodge anything, gets hit by everything, drops spirits and wins by default of being a ranger, and it’s the Ele’s fault for playing badly.

I could’ve done a lot better, but that’s both of them. It’s not as faceroll as a the warrior, but an ele is never going to kill mobs as well as a warrior or necro and it’s a fundamental part of the class.

It’s just a skin, sure, but those are what matter in this game. When you think about getting disgruntled because the average kitten could grab a full set of gear for losing 10 games every week in WoW, this is exactly the same. While you may not be getting any stat progression, you’re getting a unique skin that you worked hard for (by having the reflexes and time to sit there for hours learning and memorizing pixel by pixel every jump and step they take).

Skins are the main way people show off their accomplishments in GW2, from straight up just being present during an event to bashing their head against the tribulation wall or grinding the hell out of a dungeon that will only last a week, and for them to go up on TP makes that work, luck, or whatever nigh irrelevant.

Don’t you think there’s enough gold grinds and sinks in the game as is anyway?

I was able to do it with Dulfy’s guide 2 days ago. When I did 2-1 I missed some baubles, it really helped me to number them as I got him (like he does in the video).

The entire point of tribulation skins is to the demonstrate that you’ve completed tribulation mode. If someone can’t do tribulation mode, then they don’t deserve a skin from it. Using legendaries as an example of something sold on the TP is also incorrect as they’re nothing more than a (extensive) gold grind. Most Living World content in general doesn’t go on the TP.

I also find it very amusing you would complain about inane rambling with that post.

I love SAB, even doing the trib w2z3. Though it’d be nice to see more of a reward considering the massive time investment, I have no issue at all with the length. It’s quite gratifying finally beating it and especially doing it in half the time or faster again.

These nerfs are only going to bring more people to play the cantrip/bunker Ele, because Mist Form is far more crucial to any glass build than it is to a bunker ever was. If they really wanted to nerf the bunker build everyone was using they should nerf the water traits that make it capable of doing damage while still having condition removal everywhere and lots of healing. Now, with mist form and RtL nerfed which hit non bunker builds far more than the bunker build, you’re only going to see more eles playing it.

Hey, what can you say, people got really upset because an Ele was capable of running away from them. Good thing they will of course compensate by taking a look at our myriad of useless utilities, traits, or staff & focus skills.

We’ll be going through most of these in 2013 and looking at making them more fun and exciting encounters that better scale to support the huge armies of people who mob them.

And of course, we’re also looking into ways to make it so you can see more of those huge mobs of people as well.

Edited to add: This is a great place to throw out your ideas of what you’d like to see any of them do encounter wise to make them more exciting.

My only issue with the Elementalist are the worthless utilities and traits that clearly go against the theme of an Elementalist. Conjured weapons that disable 15 of your abilities? Stupid. Traits that only work in one attunement, when I’m supposed to be using them all? Insane.

Eles are excellent in PvE & WvW. Sure we can’t gather up mobs and mindlessly press 100b to clear them, but it’s not like a Lava Font + Eruption + Arcane Wave won’t clear most trash mobs anyway. In addition, with our permanent swiftness from the moment we get Arcane Wave on we’ll be running circles around said warrior.

In a dungeon, Eles bring a lot as well, very high AoE damage, a lot of AoE CC, group swiftness, minor healing, by far the highest damage to static things (very useful in runs like Magg CoF). The warrior will bring more single target dmg and FGJ.

Anyone crying about the class in PvE is delusional. Our main faults, the squishiness, and the worthless downed state are negiligable in PvE where it is easy to avoid damage if you use your brain and mobs rarely focus or are even able to kill you before Mist Form is available.

Anyone know what skin this staff is?

- More informative tooltips
The information provided by the tooltips right now is awful sometimes. For example, the sandstorm generated by Glyph of Storms will blind every tick, yet it does not even hint to this happening. The duration of the storms is not referenced either. (if needed, I’d be happy to list any issue I find with Elementalist tooltips specifically, I do not play other classes).

- Better tutorials
How many of you reading this knew there was a LFG feature within the game? That’s right, it’s one of the tabs on your friends list. How many of you know how it functions? Not many, I’d say (I certainly don’t). That’s just an example, I think this would really help people get into the game.

- Using spells at water surface
This is just obnoxious, why can’t we use any of our abilities, or at least our utilities at the surface of water?

- Private servers in sPvP
I love the way the servers work, but I also think it would be awesome if people could create their own servers (have a password to get in, or something). Make it so that if the servers created in this fashion fall below 5 players total for longer than 10 minutes, they are deleted, that way you don’t end up with a ton of unused servers clogging everything up. It’d be awesome if people would be allowed to select the map rotation, or even change things like the point cap required to win a game. Make it so you can’t earn glory in private servers so they are not exploited.

- Spectator mode for sPvP
This is basically a feature in every game that is an aspiring or existing esport, and if Arenanet is serious about GW2 being one I think it would benefit from having this feature. I’d also consider removing the red/blue restriction from sPvP outside of this mode if it is implemented.

- /who command
Staple of many MMOs, a command that would allow you to find out if someone is online and what zone they’re in. Naturally would not show someone who is logged in as invisible.

- Inspecting
Currently, there’s no way to find out if another player in your group is using MF gear, or something equally annoying. In addition, it would be a great way to see what dyes a player is using, as well as the armor they’ve transmuted. I understand that it’s not entirely needed considering all exotics have the same stat weights, but it’d be nice to have.

- Trading
When you consider that the Auction House has a 5% listing fee as well as a 10% tax on sales, people are going to want to trade with each other (and they do it). Currently, the only way to do this is by mailing someone what you’re trading, and hoping they mail their payment (or vice versa). I would consider this to be more prone to scamming than a functional trading interface. Some ways to prevent a bait and switch or other similar scams would be to simply make it impossible to trade for 10s after someone has put something into the window, or changed a value.

- Cash on delivery
If there really is going to be no player trading, then this would be the next best step. It would allow the people avoiding the fees associated with the AH a safe way to trade, of course, both things would be nice to have.

- Friends List information
I don’t think people should be granted access to all of the information currently available unless you add them to your own friends list as well.

- Fall damage should not trigger the in combat slow
This is incredibly annoying while doing jumping puzzles. Please change this. Personally, I’d like to see the in combat slow removed entirely but I can see why it exists.

- Elementalist conjured weapons
This whole line of utilities is generally awful, I would suggest revamping them into another weapon for Elementalists. Make the torch usable by Elementalists and make it replace the focus in every way (offhand, same abilities as the focus, etc). Make the focus a 2 handed weapon that will morph into the respective conjured weapon depending on attunement ex: Water: Ice Bow, Earth: Magnetic, Shield Lightning: Lightning Hammer, Fire: Lava Axe with some tweaking to the abilities as needed (note: wouldn’t have to use the focus/torch as I said, it just seems to make sense that the focus would be used for this purpose and the torch seems to make sense as an else weapon).

- Conjured weapons part 2
If the above can’t be done or considered, then I would suggest that if you’re wielding a conjured weapon and shift into an attunement not related to that weapon (ex: Fiery Greatword = fire, etc) you can use that attunement’s abilities for what weapon you use. For example, if I’m using a staff and summon a Fiery Greatsword, I would only have to use Fiery Greatsword abilities when I’m in fire attunement. I feel like this would make a big difference in whether or not people consider these utilities because as they are they are just way too restrictive and go against the whole idea of the class (constantly shifting your attunements).

- Elementalist elites
I must say, I am not a fan of Elementalist elites. Tornado is nearly unusable because it requires the elementalist to get in melee range, disables all of our abilities and our class mechanic. Glyph of Elements is a stronger version of an already existing utility, which is quite dull. How about combine them? Glyph of Whirling Winds: Surround yourself with powerful wind based on your attunement, fire: deal damage and cause burning, water: deal damage and chill, wind: deal damage and launch foes, earth: deal damage and blind foes. Make it grant stability or projectile reflection as Tornado did, and keep the close radius, and last x seconds. To replace the missing slot, I’ve got another idea. Elemental Rage (cantrip) remove attunement cooldowns and reduce the cooldowns of all weapon skills, and possibly give quickness for x seconds. Of course, you would have to make the attunement effects (arcane gain boon on attunement swap, water remove condition trait, etc) have an internal cooldown so you couldn’t simply spam swap attunements. I feel like these would function a lot better with the versatile / stance dancing playstyle that eles are meant to play.
