Mirage changes - Possible Solution

in Mesmer

I think what I’d want is:
(1) have F1-4 shatter mirrors, not illusions,
(2) turn Infinite Horizon / Ambush into a baseline F5 ability,
(3) replace the Infinite Horizon trait with one that generates a mirror in some way, and (4) give us back a normal dodge, though perhaps with Mirage Cloak visuals.
If they can make clones perform a dodge as well, all the better.

The difference between well organized group play and poorly organized / solo is pretty significant for melee. Maybe they could make toughness scale higher when not grouped and melee weapon equipped.

What you guys think. Underwater expansion?

Ugh, I have no depth perception underwater. The combat would be soooo frustrating. However, an underwater city, mounts, and maybe one big bad boss as part of expansion could be really cool. I’d also like a sailboat please, tyvm.

Why are melee players punished?

MooTownSnacker.3659

tl;dr melee is punished when you are on your own and fight enemies that are designed to attack many people at once (like world bosses), but when you are in smaller scale fights, instances or in sPVP melee dominates.

You hit the nail on the head here, and this is probably what the OP is experiencing. For open world solo play, kiting and pets are king (imo).

I found the new zone starting area refreshingly… uncomplicated. I trust the other zones won’t be as simplistic, however, so as to necessitate use of the various mounts. As usual, A-Net’s art team made everything look gorgeous.

Loved the raptor mount, even the way it handles with a more realistic turning radius like BDO. If you’ve ever ridden a horse, you’ll know what I mean.

The new specs were a mixed bag. Loved the concepts, but the implementations need some tuning.

The art director at A-Net has an infatuation with bustles and hoop skirts apparently.

I’m guessing at least 1 zone will have more verticality to necessitate the bunny mount.

Personal sailboats? Yes, please!!! That plus housing would “complete” this game for me.

[Mirage] - Axe#3 as a shatter skill?

As long as we’re talking new skills, what say we put them on axe 4 and 5? I want an off-hand axe.

I’d love to see personal housing, whether it has a practical purpose or not. But I don’t want to be stuck in our home instance. I want a hunting lodge out in the hills somewhere. Or maybe a little tower overlooking the sea in the Wizard’s Fief.

Sigh. I guess my level 40-ish Necro decided she needed a life change, and re-traited herself completely while I wasn’t looking. This is going to be a lot of “fun” not playing her how I’d prefer. Why not offer a hero point reset?

I dig thigh-highs, but the full plate phalanx is definitely sexier overall.

And what’s with so many swords not having tips in this game? They look like big paddles.

25% speed increase across the board

I vote for giving Guardians and Mesmers signets that provide a 25% speed buff. To keep the status quo, they would only work in PVE, out of combat. This would simply be a quality of life / travelling improvement.

For example, the Mesmer’s Signet of Inspiration could “get smart” and trigger just the swiftness boon (though at 25%) when out of combat.

Why we necros are feeling so down about our class.

On other professions, weapon skills feel like my primary abilities, and traits secondary, to be used as the situation warrants. With the necro, it feels like the other way around. That’s just the feeling I get, so maybe there needs to be a better balance between trait and weapon utility (I’m looking at you dagger and axe).

Kailthir, try the Battle of Fort Selma event in Kessex Hills (south of the fort at a bridge). I’ve never not seen a large group of botters there.

Necromancer Suggestions (Anet Please Consider these suggestions)

I’m all for revamping the necro, but I think you need to be careful about putting a major health regen on a signet. This is because heavy health drain builds need to be separated from heavy condition damage builds, so that any one build doesn’t “have it all”. The best health drain should be traited, as it is now, though it needs to scale wayyyyy better than it does currently.

Also, I like the permanent run speed boost. I’d love to take the dagger trait that boosts speed, but then I’d miss out on buffing my wells. Grrr, too many good choices in the blood line. >(

Am I the only one who doesn't care about minions?

MooTownSnacker.3659

I don’t care for undead minions, especially the ones in this game, which I guess makes me a pretty mixed up necromancer. I do like the idea of health drains and dark sorcery, however, which is why I’m drawn to the class.

Wow, not many animal lovers here, whether pro or con mounts. Isn’t anyone else interested in building a more interesting and believable (well, suspension of disbelief) virtual world? Mounts don’t have to go so fast that you’d “miss the roses”, or events. I’d certainly stop for a downed player. I agree though, that they can be a clutter in crowded spaces, so perhaps they could be stabled while in cities. And while providing fantastic aerial views, flying mounts would unfortunately ruin the jumping puzzles.

And for everyone who thinks base run speed is ok, I hope you’ve at least played a Norn guardian for a bit to gain a proper perspective. =)

ECONOMY FIX: Get rid of random equipment drops

If all gear was crafted, I’m worried that we’d lose the wide variety of item types in all levels and stat configurations, forcing non-crafters (like me) to go looking for a crafter in chat, fingers crossed that someone had the necessary materials on hand. I rarely get drops with the exact specs I’m looking for, but currently I can count on the marketplace to have it, and usually at very reasonable cost.

Why the hammer shouldnt be faster

in Guardian

Posted by: MooTownSnacker.3659

MooTownSnacker.3659

The OP makes a decent case, but what I also find frustrating is that the hammer seems more trait dependent than other weapons, meaning you’re better off using something else while leveling. Not the biggest of issues, but a little frustrating for us slow levelers.

Also would be cool if we could choose between a knock up/down and knock back, say one tap to knock up, second tap to hit it out of the park.

Would like to see changes to Shield's 5 skill

in Guardian

Posted by: MooTownSnacker.3659

MooTownSnacker.3659

I feel like the shield goes well with the scepter, as my shield 4 has a nice range when kiting and my shield 5 is good for pushing people away from me, then allowing me to use scepter 3 to root people after they are pushed back. The focus seems more suitable for melee to go with my mace so I would suggest switching the focus and shield abilities with one another.

This feels conceptually backwards to me, as scepter and focus seem more “magical” in nature, and so better paired. I agree with the sentiment that skill 5 should be swapped between focus and shield.

Also, the cooldowns are too long. A-Net wanted shields in this game to be active defense, but it doesn’t feel like I get to use them often enough.
