He was the first sucessful attempt at charr revolution that IS what he’s special for.
What’s special about half of our legends? As I said previously at least three of them done nothing even close to what pyre did.
What did Jalis do? The turning to stone thing was a people based thing not something he done specifically, and Mallyx? A random Demon in a content area based in gw1, by that logic any boss can be a legend.
Ventari? He found a seed. He done nothing else noteworthy other than creating the sylvari ten commandments which anyone could’ve done.
Actions shouldn’t qualify you for a legendary stance, but power and uniqueness.
Jalis was a dwarven king, and had unique dwarven magic. Mallyx was the leader of Abaddon’s forces, and had unique demonic magic. Shiro screwed an entire continent and was one of Abaddon’s generals. Glint was a dragon, and a prophet. Ventari is the only one who wasn’t powerful, but still has some unique centaur and tablet magic.
Pyre was a normal charr, with no superpowes whatsoever. He is not even a magic user. What skills would you give him? Traps? You’re channeling a legend to set up non-magic traps? Or maybe you want to make them magic, and pretty much ruin his character and his crusade against charr magic users.
I’m sorry, but “leading a revolution” doesn’t translate into new cool mechanics and aesthetics in any way. Anything cool you could make around his figure could be applied to the ranger instead, through a “liberator/magehunter” elite specialization or something like that. Not the revenant.
I think we’re focusing a bit too hard on Pyre and lore here, he’s just one Ranger. There could be some other noteworthy ranger that could fill the role, doesn’t have to be him.
There are no other noteworthy rangers. He’s probably the only one that’s ever done anything major to the lore setting. I mean Charr probably wouldn’t be playable without anet setting up his revolution.
The idea of these legends as far as I can tell is to implement people from the past that have done things to change the world, all of the current legends have done this regardless of what I’ve said in my past posts. I feel Pyre as also, I’m not saying that there aren’t other choices, I’m saying that if we ever get a new legend I would very much prefer it to be Pyre who has done something noteworthy and yet is a known fire based archer.
Which I’m sure every revenant will agree we need both a new ranged option AND a condition set, Pyre fits both of these requirements.

Pyre might’ve been just ordinary in your view, but he has become a Charr legend in GW2. They made a glorifying gigantic statue of him that even has its own Vista!
Not only that, he makes the most sense. He’s going to fill in the glaring lack of a condi ranged weapon.
What’s so special about Pyre? He has no unique powers, and a legend without them would be pretty boring. And if you change this and give him special powers, you’re ruining his character. He was a ranger, that beat powerful magicians with just his bow.
There’s even better “normal” charr out there, like Bathea Havocbringer or Kalla Scorchrazor, who are more important to charr history. The revenant shouldn’t be a GW1 nostalgia dump. It’s so sad to only see people suggest former GW1 heroes for future legends when we have so much to choose from.

I do strongly believe that Longbow Pyre would be the best choice as both an additional ranged and we could easily put conditions on it for burning and poison/bleed, plus he actually done something major by starting the charr revelution against the flame legion oppresion which is actually more of a legend than most, traps would likely be the utility line but hopefully bring back the ranger “throwing traps” by letting us place them like wells.
Revenants are not tied to Utility types. Pyre might get 1 trap with everything else being something different. Even if he is not of the Flame Legion, Pyre is strongly themed towards fire, his initial Hero skills in GW1 reflecting that.
They’re not tired to utility types as the other classes are no but they’re generally got patterns but I will concede your point about what Pyres skillset would be, I want traps back solely because I was mad about them removing throwing traps from Rangers and there’s of course no need for his entire skill set to be nothing but traps, can throw other ranger stuff in there like a preparation for example which gw2 did not have. and I also agree with the fire theme, I don’t think I said anything against this.

I kinda feel that it should be Pyre, many of the legends can be assumed by a race and charr do not have one yet, for that matter neither does norn. I get that people think he was a “normal ranger” but most of the legends are actually normal, the only true big deals are shiro due to all the stuff going on with him in factions and glint due to her being a dragon lieutenant that betrayed her master. Jalis was just a dwarf king, Ventari a centaur that accidently found the pale tree seed and mallyx was nothing more than a margonite.

that’s why I think certain weapons wont work too well with traps. I was hoping SB would be strong and synergize well. but after seeing LOYF, I am sad.
Quoted for truth.
Some of this stuff is pretty neat. I’ve been playing a Ranger since release and this stream alone has finally convinced me to move on. Throwing traps were keeping me here and now it’s not.
Meh, doesn’t really matter to me. You can still trap bomb someone by being close them. Plus the traps should be more powerful overall considering some of the other trait changes.
I like the fact that they make them non-throwable, they were basically just grenades at that point. Also encourages more defensive style play like they were intended for.
I think the new healing spring will also work out quite nicely. That would be a little weird as a throwable trap.
Now if we just had an elite trap…
It was the entire reason I played the class.. : (
Entangle is likely to be the elite trap (catagory wise)
Is no one seriously talking about this? What are they thinking…
Not sure if the regular process is required but here goes.
Race: Charr
Class: Ranger
Sex:Male
Belinda’s Greatsword’s scabbard vanishes when the weapon is being wielded and returns when sheathed.
It’s not a gemstore item per say but I’d really like the ability to show off multiple weapon sets at once.
What I mean is, as a Ranger to have say, your bow on your back and a sword/horn on your sides no matter which you have active. Obviously just a visual thing but it’s something very dear to myself and I’m sure many others to see this stuff I honestly don’t see a reason why both of your equipped weapons wouldn’t show. Hiding the other seems silly.
Unsure if it was mentioned or not (I read it but it was a lot to remember) but a lot of people including myself would like to see visual weapons on our characters such as your offset weapons showing when wielding current (I.E playing warrior and having your duel wield swords on your waist whilst using your bow)
I wouldn’t be against this.
Hello, I firstly wish to state that I have a lot of admiration for the developers.
Especially the developers that take the time to read the forums and I pray that I am given such a visit in this thread, so shall we get started?
I was thinking back to what gave this game a lot of charm for me when it had first released and then it hit me. Detail. I had noticed so many little cool things about the game that it got me through anything bad (there isn’t much!) I had been thinking of the game at the time so I just started brainstorming a few ideas that can be achieved utilizing the current back item system.
- Bandoliers
I once saw a mod in Skyrim that had actually given the visual appearance of your bags on your character which only further made the character look a lot more enjoyable!
- Capes/Cloaks
Something that should be in every MMORPG these days. It’s almost blasphemy without them. For a game that has a huge emphasis on good looking characters we’re certainly missing some of the more prime candidate items for looking good…
- Offset Weapon(s) visible
Now this one may be a tad confusing as I could not find a better name for it and it’s not really a ‘back item’ but what I’m referring to is the ability to see multiple weapons on your character at a time. There’s little reason to not have this in modern games when it adds that extra flare to characters. Playing a Ranger? Imagine pelting your arrows into your target with your trusty sword by your side! I understand this may be hidden intentionally in PvP/WvWvW to keep a tactical edge but you could easily just disable it for there or even make it a back item that you can just hide which would in turn cause the offset weapon to hide also.
- Animation ‘skins’
A even more in depth customization option that could add a lot of cool little niches to certain weapons. Something that greatly irked me regarding the legendary and even a lot of the normal options is that a few of them really didn’t ‘fit’ with other classes. Incinerator for example looking like an engineer made it so it doesn’t fit Ele/Necro at all… The Predator being a ‘sniper rifle’ yet the Engineer Rifle playing like a shotgun etc I’m sure you can imagine if you put your mind to it!
- Quivers and other weapon based items
I was one of the zerg of people chanting for quivers to be added to the game and eventually we got em! but there is currently only two actual skins in the game and one of them is very ‘Charr’ and the other looks like it’s cardboard. What would be a neat touch is fiddling with some more arts for other races, such as one made of leaves/plants for Sylvari and Animal hides/furrs+feathers for Norn etc etc. Other weapon based items could include weapon ‘slings/sheaths’ but this one may be too hard to pull off due to the nature of Great sword variety
I’m aware that Capes/Cloaks had existed previously but were removed due to ‘glitching’ but if I’m honest there is so much of the game that already glitch’s anyway so it seems like a poor decision to base it’s removal on….
Let me know what you think Gents/Ladys and I’m sure we can get some attention to the thread/add to it!
Well with that rapier showing up now I guess we can confirm that we’re never getting unique rapier animations as a new weapon set. Oh well…
Noticed it very very very recently myself, the recent “weapon sliding” bug fix made me have faith in anet again and after noticing this bug… lost it once more.
OH cool, great find whoever noticed this! thanks for your time sir.
When was this name confirmed? or is it just another “bubbles” idea…
I’m sorry, I haven’t been around the forums much recently but who is this “mordremoth”?
Unfortunately the truth is that Anet haven’t really properly discussed this issue with us so we’re likely not to get anything done about it. Our only hope is that enough people make these threads and as have them be as large as possible to forge them into giving us some sort of indication they’re even doing anything at all about it.
Claws! As in actual fist weapon claws, Throwing Javelins would be neat too.
No need to pray.
What makes you so sure?
Guess you’ll find out tommorow won’t ya pal?
I pray sir. I farmed for the zerker version of the quiver awhile ago and I’m not even slightly bothered by this, Having an easier way of getting a second quiver for my other builds will be a welcome addition if this is even true.
Hot, do want!
I’m sorry if I’m “that guy” but I do not see any confirmation of the Quiver being an accessible art. If there’s actually a dev saying “we will make this available” then care to link it please?
+1 This would be a fantastic idea. At least for PvE I can understand why you’d want to keep it as a “element of suprise” sort of thing for PvP but this surely couldn’t do any harm in PvE?
Robert can I just say that you’ve been a light in the darkness recently for the Ranger community and I personally am very glad to know someone is watching the class.
Now onto my post. This isn’t a major issue per say but it greatly irks me. Could we get some icon and model fixes with the pets? The icon for the River drake is nothing like what the model is and the actual River Drakes in Queens dale look so much better than the one we get. (capturing a juvenile completely changes its model) and the same goes for the Swamp Drake it’s not even close to it’s portrait.
Additionally can we have a look at the Beast master traits related to the pet? Master’s bond is currently very useless because as far as I can tell the mechanic wants us to be swapping pets very often and on a related note rampage as one suffers from this as well as the pet benefits aare completely lost on swap. Also perhaps a look at the “stat” we gain from our Beast mastery tree? a 30 stat bonus to pets at 30 points really isn’t worth it at all.
But I want to play GW2
Oh well I’ll just deal with the crappy fps in X area till they fix it. (if they fix it)
It is not gonna change at least not for 2 or 3 years, so u can upgrade to a more powerfull CPU or go play a properlly optmized game like Tera i guess
Unfortunately I’m unemployed so I can’t really upgrade my CPU. This shouldn’t have been the case in the first place to be honest
I don’t mean to sound like I’m preaching here but honestly this is only 6 months after release and barely anything has been done to cure the major cancer that is holding Ranger back. I can understand that you as a developer want to keep this mechanic in and as a animal fan IRL and in video games I PRAY it stays in but it is not too late to scrap the current mechanic and work on designing one where the Ranger isn’t so dependent on a mechanic where the pets death cripples our viability. You said it yourselves that you want the Rangers pet to hold some of the Rangers utility but we are currently unable to use this mechanic to the mechanics full potential because of the issues that plague it.
This game has blown me away since release but these major and minor issues are starting to stack on top of each other and eventually the pile will lose balance. John got a very unfair treatment in this thread and I honestly can’t blame the community either but if we could just get SOME insight as to what’s actually being done then we can move on from this incident and to a brighter GW2.
DO NOT become just another game designer and claim you do this for us and then continue to ignore and/or stay silent thinking it’s for our benefit.
I hope I wasn’t too aggressive in this response and I pray that you take a look at everything that’s been said and take a bucket of salt with it. (pinch wouldn’t be enough due to the amount of very unthoughtful “solutions”
Keep up the good work.
I’m unsure if there is another thread on this and apologize if there is but this should act as another reminder that this game being CPU bound is limiting so many people from playing it enjoyabley. My graphics card can handle this game on maximum graphics but I can barely move in some areas due to my CPU being only a duo core.
Can we get a confirmation if this is ever going to even change or not?
A faster and simpler idea is to press CTRL+ALT+DELETE simultaneously and just find “GW2.EXE” under the processes tab and click it then press “end program”. THat show allow you to load up the game again.
I get this after I’ve already played GW2 today without my PC being turned off and have to do it every single time. Starting to get irritating but that fix should do for now.
This would indeed be the best gift ever. My card is said to have been able to run this game on high settings with over 60 fps regardless of where I am but it is being held back massively due to the games dependance on CPU and my CPU is very terrible. I will not spend £150-300 on a CPU just because this game doesn’t use the GPU as it should.
Whilst the above are cool ideas it’s way too much to do for one class.
P.S. (Condition damage for Canines? what Canines are you using?oO)
Let us pray that the 1h Sword auto attack has finally (Existed early BWEs probably sooner) been fixed and the other 50 bazillian requests for quivers have finally been granted
Hello,
Recently I had some Internet issues at home and had to get rewiring done around the house. Now you see the thing is ever since then (Yesterday) I’ve been having a very small yet highly noticeable amount of lag.
Basically when I use an attack such as Death Blossom on my Thief it has a small millisecond lag that is incredibly frequent and irritating.
I was asking around in guild and a few other places and they all stated that this lag I’m getting may be due to the recent patch as a few others have had a similar experience and I was curious to know if any of you are having the same and/or a fix?
I should probably mention that this issue is only in Guild Wars 2 and nothing else.
“I wonder how many people of ArenaNet are looking at the forums so small things like this can be picked up and can be looked at…”
This is not a small thing. Anet have proven again and again they care about the detail they put into their game and from even a first glance you can see the overwhelming amount of effort that has been put in the game. Yet the quiver is still such big thing that is missing. The Engineer has likely had all it’s unique backpacks since pre alpha because it would incredibly ridiculous without them and we’re still lacking quivers for bow users!
Please Anet give us quivers!
I use one handed sword right now on my ranger with horn off hand and shortbow on switch and it’s pretty amazing. Not sure what you would add to it that wouldn’t make it OP.
Honestly I think the 1 skill could use a look at. If you plan on using this ability for DPS (It’s a weapon so it should be) you would be required to constantly using the 1 key at least and majority of the time it locks you in place stopping you from dodging. This can be controlled with disabling auto attack but this is also a bad thing and it shouldn’t be necessary to do.
Signed! asked multiple times for this in beta as did thousands of other people and we’re still denied it. keep it bumped so we get heard!
Can we get a notification if the addition character slots gained even though only a single one was purchased is some sort of “we’re sorry have free slots” I dare not buy any more or make new characters in case they get removed.
Also payed 800 gems for a character slot taking my total to 6 but never received the slot even though gems were still taken. Paid for gems with in game gold if this information is of any help.
