Sometimes I don’t get Anet. I know they have a responsibilty to the economy in GW2, but they can be so hamfisted.
“Hey! You know how those wonderful spontaneous communities arise at the leather farm in Lake Doric, those joyful zergs that gather on the hillsides? Let’s start bombarding them with artillery! Let’s make it impossible to coordinate for fun! That’ll show those greedy Engis!”
Sigh.
[Sugg.] Show Aestus & Ignis Health to All
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Mr Cranch.3768
Apparently, once Ignis or Aestus is dead, the other becomes “enraged” and harder to kill. If we are meant to kill them simultaneously, why not show both health bars to each group, so that we can time things better (a la Triple Trouble)? I think these are awesome fights but they need some tweaking like that.
P.S. Also offer bonus rewards if both are killed.
Ember Bay, tube south of Promotory, which sends you to Burning Grotto. Consistently throws me right through the endpoint wall and underneath the graphics. Just recently started happening. Have to waypoint out. FYI. Not a terrible problem, just a shame.
The lieutenant fights are some of the best in PVE. But now that people are getting their fill of Draconis Mons, one or the other lieutenant is often neglected. That’s kind of a shame, especially if you have the misfortune of choosing the “unpopular” one that cycle.
Why not offer a particularly nice bonus if both lieutenants are brought down? (I was recently in an Aestus fight that was so well done that we succeeded in our CCs, and then nearly that entire victorious group, not unreasonably, wandered off, and Ignis prevailed. What a waste of a good group.)
P.S. Draconis Mons is fantastic and the Spiderman power is really well designed.
To be clear, I do not want high heels or cleavage. I do not want mere mimickry of humans. Consider the wedding outfit. That is what Sally is wearing right now. It is not a clone of the human female. Leaving aside any “lore-breaking” aspect, it looks Asuran AND female. And awesome. But it’s getting a little threadbare on Sally lol.
And what is this curious prejudice, that no intelligent being would wear a dress? So only pants imply smarts? (Tell that to judges.) What an oddly misogynistic concession. But no need to get polemical! I just want the more frequent option to let Sally appear as not a knock-off boy.
Oh, look. A new spring outfit. Let’s preview it and see how it looks on my little Asura Sally.
Oh, look. Again Sally is getting hand-me-downs from her brother. Great.
Come on, Anet. 98% of the Asuran armors and outfits are unisex. Which means male. I don’t care about lore; we have sunglasses and bunny ears. Give poor Sally some dresses already.
this one? you can click it to select it then press f (or whatever your interact key is), or double click it.
Yep that one. Forgot I could explicitly select it. Thanks.
The Posted Message next to the waypoint in Beetletun cannot be read. Three NPCs (including an Alderman) are blocking it. The only prompts are for talking to the NPCs.
Has anyone been able to cheese this or something? Is it just a show stopper?
…which means you can’t get into the Bitter Cold without doing the story. This is apparently per character. I don’t want to do the story again. I have no problem remaking the elixir. Why is the recipe not an account-bound acquisition? Reminds me of how you couldn’t complete Auric Basin (i.e. get to the Inner Chamber poi) without doing the story. Anet fixed that. They apparently forgot the lesson…
What OP said. I understand the story reasons but honestly, once it is opened on one character, alts should have access. I don’t want to replay the story or squander a 1000 currency (in my case, 10 times) to portal into a new zone.
The item is permanent and account bound. You only have to buy it once then use it on all your alts to get to the first waypoint.
Infinite uses? Well, ok then. Thanks.

I do not want utility enhancements. Never have. So fine, my amulets will now have empty slots. But I also have a bunch of non-agony infusions I can’t use. My characters are fully geared. Please let me return the useless infusions for laurels. That would be a true and proper refund.
It seems that the nicest designs are going to outfits.
Of course we never get armors in the TP anymore (I understand outfits are easier to program); but why do the in-game reward armors (leystone, bladed, silverwastes) have to be so… ugly? Covered in geegaws or hideously asymmetrical? There’s so little flow to anything. And the Pigpen-vapors from the leystone armor are sad.
To be sure, the outfits, too, are often covered in geegaws or hideously asymmetrical.
There seems to be an aversion to grace or simplicity among the designers. Or, rather, a bipolar inconsistency. For every Balthazar’s or Ironclad you get a thrown-together… well, I’ll be nice and not name the messy outfits.
The big shame is that, granting armors are hard to program, it’s a shame that the few times the effort is made to create new armors, they turn out so… not awesome. Ah, if only Ironclad were an armor (i.e., not all or nothing) and a Verdant Brink reward…
I completed City of Hope. I can talk to the Exalted. Yet I cannot get into the Inner Chamber except with the character who did the HoT story. Is that right? If I want to do map completion on Auric Basin with another character, I have to redo the story?
Khisanth, thank you for the offer. I had a different sort of luck. After farming fruitlessly for hours (in multiple sessions), someone in map chat said he had the key and a dozen of us who were also fruitlessly farming joined in. So I got the crystal. Community compensates for stupid RNG!
Just so we’re clear. I have to farm Metrica mobs for a small chance of finding the key to Oola’s lab; to trigger an event with a high chance of failure (i.e., protecting Asurans apparently made of papier mache). I never thought I’d be complaining about RNG, but dang, this is annoying…
Thanks. I figured the light had something to with it but using emotes never crossed my mind.
Um. I found a JP that is accessed from the underground river. The first half is crystals, the second is roots, and I end up meeting a L.O.X. who lets me in a big chamber from Rata Novus days. And… nothing. No chest. No achievement. I can’t find anything to turn on. That was a lot of work for nothing. What am I missing?
That’s a good workaround. Thanks!
I really like the mentor tag. I have been using it as I literally mentor my nephews, who got GW2 for Christmas. (‘Follow the apple’ is a great help.) However, when I turn it on, I start to attract people. I realize that’s the original intent, but it might be nice if I could make it private to my party.
Good work, Argon. I tried that but was not so adroit! And thanks, Fohd. I made it.
So during the follow Ruka phase, as Faolain is pursuing you, you come to a jutting precipice (after the hallway of pustules) and you’re supposed to —- what? There is nothing within the range of any of the Glint powers. I am missing something obviously. Ruka doesn’t say anything, there’s no help text… and Faolain kills me before I can even get oriented. What do I do?
Maybe Too Expensive, But Elites Are Awesome

Leaving aside the very understandable issues with Hero Points, I have to say the Druid and Reaper are just the sort of awesomeness I was hoping for in HOT. I love them. Lot of nice work in making them elite. Good job! (The Revenant seems cool, too, altho I’ve barely scratched it.)

Allow refund/rebuy.
Yes, elites are only available at lvl80. Yes, they cost more than core. But don’t require me to buy every other skill and trait just to start spending on elite. I don’t want half of those anyhow.
Allow me to distribute points across core and elite and to change that distribution. That will go a long way toward making it feel like I’m playing it “my own way” and not faced with a grindfest.

What happened to the Toy Soldier mini pet? He doesn’t march in place or present his rifle anymore. He seems only to have the basic Charr animation. Please fix him!
I get into a big fight. The combat music starts up. The fight ends. The music never ends. I change zones — combat music. I go to a city — combat music. I go to the character screen — combat music. The only thing that gets rid of it is exiting the game altogether.
This started just recently. I suppose since the last patch?
The only helpful clue may be that waypointing to a city right after combat (with music involved) may be the thing that makes it stick. I don’t know.
It’s remarkable how annoying combat music is when you’re not fighting. Yes, I can turn the music off — but the music is good in this game; I don’t want to have to go silent.
Anyone else experiencing this?
If you don’t get to Scarlet, it does not count as a stopped invasion. You can fail on Scarlet and it counts but you have to get there (i.e. clear all waves).
And I’m sorry, but farming pirates after the pirate bar is cleared but the minion bar is still there is just selfish. We lost yet another invasion this evening so that people could get their loot. There’s lots of loot in every wave. Stop holding things up and play the event. You still get your champs and everything else.
There are other posts praising this event, but there are also many complaining about it, so I wanted to bring some fresh praise.
The greatest problem in the game right now is its emptiness. So many fun event chains (like the Inquest base at Jinx Isle) that no one seems to do. It is wonderful to be involved in something where you see players converging and joining together for a spell of coordinated mayhem.
I love the Twisted. I love Hobo-Tron and Marcello. I love that the Playhouse is solo-able but doesn’t have to be. I love how access to the Playhouse comes through a tiny questline with Voorp that is tied to my participation against invasions. I love how the Pavilion was shutdown until I opened it up again. I love that I can get so much loot (even if the rares and exotics are so, well, rare).
I have my complaints, too, but others are covering those. The past weeks have been a riot. Thanks for the work, Anet.
I want to craft a specific item as powerful as possible for my level-X alt. I have to go through an awful lot to figure it out.
“Okay. Things around darksteel would probably do. I want the Knight’s version, though. I haven’t discovered that yet. My other darksteel items seem appropriate; they’re close to but under X. Okay, let’s try this… Oh, crap. It’s X+5. Useless!” Yes, I could eventually use it, but by and large I’ve just wasted some mats (which is especially frustrating at T4 and T5).
Now, I don’t know the precise ins and outs of how everything is ordered in crafting; I’ve caught on to things, of course. And maybe I’m just stupid. But it seems that “I want to craft a Knight’s axe that my level-X alt can use” should be a point of entry in the UI, and it’s not.
Of course if I discovered everything I possibly could, I’d surely know (although even then I’d have to open each recipe to tell); but what a waste of precious mats.
Yes, thank you very much. I appreciate that Anet is trying always to better things. People who bitterly complain about this or that change or event always seem to be ignoring the flexibility and openness of Anet to different approaches. I, too, have my year-long complaints (gads, the leashing in this game is maddening as implemented), but this game is far from stagnant and I really appreciate the work being done on our behalf.
FYI, Jennah is a Watchknight in disguise.
Rytlock Brimstone: She’s a Watchknight, isn’t she?
Zojja: I’m impressed. How many questions does it usually take to spot them?
Rytlock Brimstone: I don’t get it, Zojja.
Zojja: How many questions?
Rytlock Brimstone: Twenty, thirty, cross-referenced.
Zojja: It took more than a hundred for Jennah, didn’t it?
Rytlock Brimstone: [realizing Logan believes she’s human] He doesn’t know.
Zojja: He’s beginning to suspect, I think.
Rytlock Brimstone: Suspect? How can he not know what it is?
Nice Blade Runner crossover….I like it
There’s actually a nice in-game Blade Runner allusion in an Asura-Sylvari conversation near the Asura gate in the Grove, as I recall.
I know it was a reasonable question, but NO. NO NO NO NO. The “entry fee” for the game means your gamer population is not frivolous clutter. That “fee” provides Anet with what is essentially working capital and they can provide all sorts of content on a regular basis. Free-to-play is for games that don’t believe in themselves. It will cheapen Tyria. NO NO NO.
Like most armor on this game, the Aetherblade Steampunk armor is 80% cool. That is, one or another of the pieces (helm, boots, whatever) doesn’t work somehow. Obviously this is a matter of taste, but I would easily buy an Aetherblade coat and leggings, say, while I will never put out 800 gems for a full set I would not entirely wear.
When I visit the orchestra in Divinity’s Reach, there’s no music from it. All ambient sounds etc are fine. I remember it working months ago.
Thank you, William.
Will I need to turn it in within the next few days? I’m hoping not, because I can’t decide which weapon will be used most by my character. I did notice the Weapons merchants are still accepting F&F and Wintersday tickets, so I’m hoping I don’t have to rush my decision.
P.S. Sorry if this seems like a problem everyone would like to have; but hey, the RNG gods were kind to me.
I think RNG is dumb when it comes to events, but I also think that a player should work for a skin or special item. For example, the Wintersday event was perfect when it came to the minis: All you had to do wakitten Tixx’s dungeon several times and get the materials and build one. Not easy, not hard, but requiring some dedication; and I earned my Princess Doll and Toy Soldier. (And if Anet still wants to make $$$ on such items, sell them straight up, too.)
So I was wondering why, as I wandered around Cursed Shore, the Warmaster Chen event was always stalled. I happened to catch it at the start so I joined it. I was the only player. We get to the camp — and to say there was a “mob” is to understate.
It was ridiculous. Clearly this event doesn’t scale, since I was the only player involved and I get a dozen Risen Nobles thrown at me (and an Abomination). But seriously, I wonder if this is doable even with a party. It’s one of those “squad morale” events, and you know how well NPCs survive those in Orr.
It’s things like this that just discourage an Asura, you know?
P.S. I snuck back around to take the screenshot.
Could we give the poor female Asura more armor that doesn’t look like her big brother’s hand-me-downs?
I spent a long time previewing (and mixing and matching) cultural and dungeon and crafted armor, just trying to find something that looked feminine. So little of it, for Asura, was clearly distinguished from the corresponding male armor. Luckily I found a proper dress in the Winged armor, but really, why should such a thing be so rare?
In general, it seems that female armor is either R-rated or androgynous. Hey, I like the R-rated stuff well enough, but modest dresses would be in order, too, and perfectly suited to the girlish Asura.

Those who mentioned that the tears etc. can be turned in for stuff are absolutely right, and I think that there is a definite place for accumulating such wealth over multiple runs. And perhaps such accumulation is the true point of dungeons. I guess I am impatient, since I don’t see myself in dungeons day after day. I may also be generally frustrated with my drops game-wide and TA was the last straw. Ah, such is life. I am still enjoying GW2 a lot.
Yes, I think I may be one of those cursed by the spiteful RNG daemon.
Even so, to get chewed up by Twilight Arbor and get only blue after blue after blue in drops and chests is downright demoralizing. I only recently started doing dungeons and while I realize no one promised me good loot, shouldn’t good loot be the point of a dungeon? Sure it’s fun to help my party, but honestly, I can do that in PvE.
Make a dungeon rewarding. Tears and blossoms are all well and good, but an awesome greatsword would be better. Make the bleeding worthwhile, please.
SMALL SPOILERS. **** So I’m about to fight the Mouth of Zhaitan, and I’ve got my hammer and greatsword equipped, and the NPCs tell me to use my ranged weapons on the hovering specter swords. Fat chance: I’m already in combat and I can’t switch to my rifle or longbow — and that fight is rough in melee, if not impossible. Only my dying allowed me to switch, back at the waypoint.
Or I’ve got the projectile shield skill slotted up, but I just ran into four trolls who are freezing me to death and boy, it would be nice to swap to that condition-curing skill, but no, I’m in combat, so I’m stuck with a skill that is useless against the troll (but had been enormously useful ten feet back when I was fighting dredge).
The game should allow some tactical, in-combat re-assignment of one’s equipment and skills. I’m NOT saying to go so far as a pause-game feature — that couldn’t be done in an MMO! — but seriously: different enemies, different skills. Let me choose what I need while I’m fighting, especially if I realize I’ve got inappropriate tools equipped.
She used to be cute and impressive in cutscenes. Now she looks nekkid, as if she couldn’t bother to finish dressing…
+1, especially the inclusion of yellow NPCs in auto-targeting. Stop that please! I’m tired of having deer and sheep joining a mob. If reds are actively engaged, disable responses from yellows.
It just seemed like several of them were hitting far wider. I play several characters so I can’t recall which skills offhand (though it seems to happen with more than one). I’ll pay attnetion and see if I can’t get more specific; but I was just wondering if others were experiencing this at all.
You know the skills that bounce your thrown weapon (such as a sword) on multiple enemies? Did ANet recently increase the radius of effect? I am hitting all sorts of things I never did before. I am fighting more deer and dolyaks than I care to. It didn’ t use to seem this messy. Or is it just me?
(edited by Mr Cranch.3768)
Cool. I haven’t used any skins before; didn’t know if they were permanent. Thanks.
If I put a skin (such as the slingshot or star-wand) on a weapon will it be retained if I want to transmute it later with a more powerful weapon?
When you have 9 enemies to kill to succeed in the Event, don’t respawn those enemies just because it’s taking a while to finish them off. Nothing more frustrating than whittling them down, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, AAAARGH!
If even one player is steadily engaged in an event, let him finish it. Sometimes there just aren’t any other players around. I came upon 9 Fire Legion that had to be dispatched, I got my Deus Ex on, picked them off one by one, careful not to alert the others, and fat lot of good it did me as they just respawned.
Bug? Design? I don’t know. But again: If even one player is steadily engaged, don’t reset everything. Increase the respawn cycles or something. You’re killing the fun otherwise.
