To be honest, I partially disagree.
The only symbol I see that possibly needs to be worked on is Symbol of Blades simply because it does TOO much (blink, AoE blind, AoE pressure, Fury) for a #2 skill while the #3 skill has always been clunky and lackluster (a bit less post-patch). The rest are mostly fine.
- Scepter symbol is a little better and more consistent version of what the skill used to be but provides the all too common Might buff. It’s fine considering what the rest of the weapon kit does.
- In my opinion Staff symbol needs to be somewhat reworked. Not in the scope of this post.
- I mostly agree on your intent with Hammer symbol but considering it gives protection I doubt something like that will happen.
While this, hopefully, is not the only balance change, the issue with Merc amulet is that it was the best-in-slot option for almost all condi builds. So, hopefully again, they’re removing “build diversity” as most of you call it for… more build diversity?
Release the flails!
Anyone made any cool builds taking the new guard shield skills into account? Always wanted to play with shield in PvP
I’ve been pretty much using meta bunker and just swapping Focus for Shield. Shield #4’s aegis is pretty strong in teamfights coupled with Aegis traits.
I’ve been looking into for a Shattered Aegis build, but I haven’t played around with the idea too much.
I’ve been having a lot of fun with an Aegis build with the shield in PvP. Loving the Shield #4 buff.

The issue is that laurels can be turned into gold.
This concerns me. I’ve never been one to jump on the elitist bandwagon when it comes to F2P vs. Paid debate but the fact that Joe Smith from Botsvilia can create 1000 accounts and just camp in for the daily rewards as a form of revenue generation could have an effect on market prices.
This game is basically a F2P model anyways with micro transactions being the main form of revenue but removing the initial $10 to $50 cost per account would open the door to problems we cannot predict.
Daily login rewards are disabled on free accounts.
The changes are interesting. Looking forward to testing them in a future BWE.
Thanks Karl.
I’m just sick of fighting the same premade over and over again
It’s literally killing the game, just bring back Solo ranked

HoM related bug: Guild Wars 2 removed all my HoM titles and achievements despite me being 50/50 in GW1 since long before GW2 launched. Tried logging into GW1, switch the HoM display from personal to account-wide multiple times, to no effect.
I even got the mail from LOR-748, but only after I created a new Sylvari thief character just a while ago but affects all characters in my account.
EDIT: Resolved by entering GW2’s HoM after logging to GW1’s HoM.

It’s been like that since betas and every friendly AoE field has them.
Like you said, you probably just noticed because of your new videocard.
90s ICD?
This is a joke post referencing the GW1’s Smiter’s Boon: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Smiter's_Boon_%28PvP%29
If you’re serious: I can’t take this post seriously coming from an Ele.
No.
“Duelers” would just be the same WvW roamer thieves who will ask for a duel on even the slightest disagreement.
The amount of toxicity it would create on the PvE community is not worth it.
To add: An ArenaNet employee running with the zerg while tagged does not mean anything. As they have previously said, when they are tagged it means they’re working. They could’ve been gathering feedback/reports on how the map is currently being played.
I was going to post my thoughts on this, but fellow programmer aRestless pretty much said what I would say.
Sorry Ardenwolfe but what??
You think its acceptable for this player to have his 1 hr effort wiped and have to spend another hour gaining it all back because chest farmers cant be considerate?OP im totally on your side. Its not a reporting issue, they aren’t technically doing anything wrong, but they are being inconsiderate kittens and I think its a shame they are happy to ruin peoples time and effort and not care.
If they just stuck to 0% maps, which are easier to get into anyway, then both playstyles could continue happily without getting in each others way.
This are my thoughts on this.
I was in the same situation as OP some days ago. We were 1-3 players per fort since 0% and we started taxiing at around 50-60%. Some commander came in and said “Chest run on my tag” while tagging around 220 shovels on chat. No one came to any fort and the map was full. They stopped farming chests for Breach and Vinewrath of course. They even failed Copper and south lane failed Beekeeper boss, though we were successful in the end.

Worthless junk. There’s no point to them. They should’ve just made the items drop more frequently from mobs. Another genius idea from Anet!
My uneducated guess is that they want to provide us with geodes and keys as drop from mobs, but without it being affected by Magic Find. Having the sand always drop allows them to do so by using fixed rates on whatever silky sand drop rate table they have.
Thanks a lot for your input, The Gates Assassin.9827.
On a related note:
I was invited to a team sPvP earlier and we faced a 4 turret engi + necro on the enemy team. As expected when put up a fight but eventually lost. See attachment for more info.
So here I’ll ask a “l2p” question:
How can one beat that comp? Or was the match already lost?
condi
You underestimate the condi cleansing power of 2-3 healing turrets which basically forced us to retreat if more than one engi was on point.

the new Amplified Wrath trait makes guardians kind of the king of burning, in a large group you will probably not be able to keep it up…. but welcome to GW2. This is not a Guardian problem alone.
Pretty much this.
It’s a problem with how conditions are designed.
How did you unlock the Master and Grandmaster tiers in the tutorial area?
I can’t tolerate how you all use skyhammer as an excuse to remove the rank system. You don’t know the hard numbers behind who exploited it and to what extent.
From what I’ve seen, there were at most 1-2 active skyhammer farms at any given time, of which most players were oblivious. This means the amount of active abusers could only be a fraction of the actual player base.
These servers were only active for a few short months before Arenanet patched it (and it was patched, since glory and rank points are now only awarded at match end). Once again, this means the exploit was cut short long before it became a rampant problem.
I also doubt the players who did know about skyhammer were wasting much time on it since it’s clearly an exploit and incredibly boring to farm it.
Only arenanet knows the exact numbers behind the exploit, and they never shared that information with us. In all likelihood, the abusers are a fraction of a minority. So what if some players cheated to get where they are? That doesn’t render the efforts of the vast majority illegitimate.
This whole skyhammer thing has been blown way out of proportion and I’m sick of hearing about it. In my opinion, these complaints are likely coming from a vocal minority of WvW’ers/casuals who want pvp rewards/finishers, but who don’t have the patience to earn their rank. These are the players who have the least invested in the current system, so of course they don’t care about rank, and will make any excuse to get rid of it.
Regardless of whether ranks stays or no, exploiters should never be rewarded in any shape or form.
Maybe if they didn’t take months to find the wisdom in listening to their players that ACTUALLY play the stupid game we wouldn’t be bitter.
They already stated multiple times on the forums and again on the announcement why they didn’t. It’s not like they did it to annoy you.
Posting in this old thread since a quick search didn’t reveal information on this topic.
Apparently, it only works with Mumble if you’re on Windows 7 (64-bit).
I would love to be proven wrong since I’m having the same issue.
I kinda like the new sounds, even if they seem “out of place”.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Sad penguin is sad…
It’s not going to work. ArenaNet should remove the champion drops and add them as rewards for event completition (plus ban all the exploiters, of course – it’s rather obvious that intentionally failing an event in order to kill more champions is not playing the game as intended). Otherwise, they will just keep removing champions from events until the entire point behind the champion drops is rendered moot.
I said a similar thing in another thread. They could also make champions spawns as events with increased rewards compared to, for example, and escort event.
ArenaNet should reward players with a box for every event they participate in the invasion while removing champions spawns during the event.
and what exactly will entice players to do these events now?
If they give the champ boxes for every event completed in the invasion it actually promotes finishing the entire thing and completing multiple events instead of a clusterkitten on an single Aetherblade event for 10 minutes.
ArenaNet should reward players with a box for every event they participate in the invasion while removing champions spawns during the event.
Would be nice if someone else could confirm this.
