Doesn´t really matter having 235023952 states of the game when this game´s pvp is horrible and poor in terms of quality and variability.
To start with, I feel good to be able to play solo Q and thank the developers for their time taken to make it, (better late than never).
The problem is, the way it has been implemented.
After 500 games in this new solo Q, I´ve worked hard to be around top 100, going from % ratings to top 1000, having played in every step of the tree.
In this topic I´m going to summarize some of the flaws the system presents with some possible solutions, in hopes some “Red” takes a momment to read it and communicate it to the PvP Team.

Players with 15 / 20 games played without a 90% win rate, in a “10 game test to determine your initial rating (with matches probably not against top players)”, should not belong to the top 100 leaderboard (and in some cases, not to their current rating, I´m talking about lots of people being rank 200-300-400-500 etc, with some balances like 20-15, or so on.
There has to be taken into consideration that lots of those “initial ranking 10 matches” have been against randoms in order to compute their rating, thats not fair to determine you are a top 100 by just winning against random / low ranked players.
This fact is angering a lot of the players I know (and I play with every day) that have 100+ games, being a high amount of them in the top ranked, against top 200 players. The effort the last ones had to put in order to stay on top of the tree, facing every day top teams in order to stand in top rating, is just not comparable to people who completed a few games and stopped there.
Solution: Take in account players who do not play solo Q actively, in order to make them decay in leaderboards. Take in account players who consistently match high ranked players to give them a real rating that shows where their competitive scene stands.
It is easy to realize that someone who is 80 wins above played in top ranked matches, should be higher rating than someone who is just 5 or 10 wins above played in top matches or random (10 games test initial ranking) matches.

At certain time frames, system does not find enough players from a similar rating to fill up 10 spots. Then what it does, is takes any player available to play. It doesn´t matter if you are top 10, you will get rank 900 and % players in your team.
Probably the enemy team will have to compensate this, let´s say, x2 rank´s 300 plus some % guys.
Well, mathematically things may compensate, but in practice, it is not the same that 2 veterans play with 3 news, against 4 medium ranked and 1 new. It is very likely that the medium players will capitalize on the 3 news and therefore you end up losing the match.
The problem with this, is if you lose this matches, your rating will drop hard. But ironically, the thing i´ve experienced is, if you win this kind of unbalanced matches, your rating won´t go up much.
To summarize this hard explanation: It all depends on if the enemy team has at least 1 or more top or higher ranked guy, if you win, you will increase rating, depending on the number or high/similar ranked players in the enemy team.
The funny thing is: if you get paired with low ranked players, and you somehow lose against a low ranked team at the same time, that will punish you a lot, and drop at least 30 rating places. Anyways, if you win, from personal experience, your rating won´t change in this situation, maybe 1-5 higher positions.
Well, personally, I don´t think if this is fair or not, or if I´m supposed to have the build or spec to carry without trusting in a team. I think this matches shouldn´t account for rating.
Solution: Make it so when the system is not allowed to put 10 similar rating players, it pops up an advertise telling that the match won´t affect your current rating, but you are still able to play a solo Q game. (this is not that hard).
3.
A point where most people will coincide with me: Lack of rewards.
It is true that we play for the fun and the competitive matches, and we are hoping for a system who makes us face players from our same skill ceiling and experience.
But there has to be some rewards for climbing the ladder. You reward every effort in pve, why not in pvp?
Solution: This is fairly easy, consumables, dyes, PvP skins, PvP armors, PvP Legendaries? Titles, etc…
There may be some flawss the following responses add, but I feel I have explained the most important ones above.

As a ranger rank 39, champion hunter, player of this class since the very beginning of the game release, after 1400+ matches, half of them over tournaments…
I have to say that, ranger has no spot in the tournament gameplay. There is no job he can do to specially contribute the ally team.
Anet defined rangers as a “Jack of All trades, but master of none”. Therefore, I suspect ranger class will be relegated to pve/WvW spot.
The fact none of the highest qualifying players use ranger means something.
Pets can´t attack while target is moving. F2 responsiveness is unreliable.
Pets are not allowed to gain critical chance from ranger´s attributes.
Pet switching is a real bad system and some traits really have no sense in them, like beastmaster´s bond.
Bugs are plenty for pets, as for some skills used by ranger.
Ranger weapons and skills have low damage and utility compared to the rest of classes.
Ranger is not able to have an impact in the game at all.
Even when I am somewhat challenging in certain situations, I feel outpowered by the rest of classes in lot situations. I have recognized to my pvp structured guild that ranger is in a ver low spot and I will probably switch to other class after this update.
I´m not expecting this update to fix ranger.
My hopes are, either fully rework this class, or delete and substitute with a new one.
Only wanted to express to the Anet team my deception about ranger mechanics and how it has gone down from that star class it was in guild wars 1.

also… give pets improved ability to hit targets, pets get correct usage of f2, pets start attacking fast after f4 switch.
rebalance beastmaster trait to 50% instead 25%
give signet of wild interaction with “F” hotkey.
give better condition removal to signet.
lower all the enormous cooldowns on signets.
make viable greatsword, make viable longbow.
rework 80% of ranger traits since they dont make any sense.
rework just everything about the ranger…….

that´s how we gona make it to e-sport.
Now the gap between casuals and teams will get bigger and bigger.
Casuals get stomped by premades = bad gameplay experience = they leave pvp.
I dont understand why few ppl even care about balancing skills like if their life went ahead that. The problem is much deeper (tho this has been said before me)
whole pvp is pointless since it has only 1 mode
this mode has the terrible and boring idea to be about capturing and holding its circle.
i started playing because i am old school gw1 pvper. that was a real pvp game. Pretty sure everyone who played it agrees with this assumption.
after some weeks and being top ranked in my server i left due to lack of pvp content, which makes it boring, compared to how exciting and fun is League of Legends.
I do understand the massive quit from top players and teams considering how bad was and is this pvp.
The pvp does not need actually only balance, the pvp needs a whole epic rework introducing multitude of game modes. I wonder who had the terrible idea to make it consist about 3 nodes. That´s just horrible man, get original.
Tbh I´d like my money back, since I´m not satisfied with this pvp.
GW2 will never get to esport, deal with it. Not fun to watch. Not fun to play.
I, by one, left the game months ago, and got back to LoL, where I´m having big fun and enjoy my free times.
Just one advice, if you dont find fun in this game, dont keep playing it, cause its not going to change, developers go ahead with their mistakes.

Ok, I was terribly upset by my first post. I apologize for this 5 minutes duration rage.
It was because I´m r44, got a nice ratio of wins in tournament. Guess what.
I go solo Q, I get ppl below r20 and we face premade with ranks 40-50
I was like… wtf is this???
I lose rating because the matchmaking solo q vs team q fails terribly

We are aware of this and are taking steps to mitigate this type of play.
This is certainly an exploit of the system. Hopefully A-Net is looking at permanent bans for the players involved as well as changing the system to encourage a more fun type of play.
It always amazes me when people who are breaking the rules blame it on the system instead of taking responsibility for their own poor choice. “You made me!” Is such a grade-school response.
then they would have to ban super and some of the winners of the PÂX

And what´s left for the people with 800+ games standing top 50 in solo q? We didn´t exploit the system or decay and played actively every day.
We aren´t getting any kind of reward for being on the top of the tree so much time consistently playing games?

I am ok with matchmaking fix and leaderboard fix, it was SO SO NEEDED.

I hope it will never be possible, if you want to play solo, there are hotjoins and free tournaments, leave paids to organized teams.
If I cannot have a premade team running 365 days every night because I have a social life, I should be able as well to join the competitive scene, and not only be restricted to hot join and free tournies.
Adding the option to enter as solo/duo queue is also healthy, and it will be of course at your own risk, but there should be the option.
NONE should be restricted to play only hot join/frees just because they don´t have a daily team running.

-Rangers have n4 longbow, pet fear, lsword knockback.

If pve players can get their legendaries, pvp players should be able to farm/grind some legendaries too.
Not saying rank 80 required for a legendary.

This build is completely destroying solo queue.
I play on top 50 and everytime a player runs that build you can´t beat him on a 1v1.
Simple as that.

I have like 1200 matches in solo Q.
Leaderboards are really way much better than before.
Games are definitely much more competitive and close than before.
Just give it some more weeks and more incentives to rewards and solo Q will be healthy with more players in it.

Im rating top 20 eu and rank 69.
I support making more maps like skyhammer.
We need more game mechanics, more builds, more game modes.
The next map could punish mindless use of dodges and jumps per example.
Long term goals aren’t a bad thing. Even after the re-balance, it will take the average player a very long time to reach 80 and will still be the long term goal for most people.
It’s important to have goals for different time commitments. Short term goal could be reward tracks or some skins. Medium term goals could be season rewards and a ladder. Long terms goals could be a legendary, rank 80 (for most people) or possibly multi-season rewards and yearly tournaments.
What kind of long-term rewards would people like to see? Maybe a rank 80 ‘prestige’ system is something to explore.
I´m all up for the rank 80 prestige system.
You can offer different coloured dragon finishers. Surround the finisher with an special aura or some special effects & particles.
Here you´ve got a good spot for creativity.
You could try making the advanced tiers dragons with different animations, colours. Endure their animations, hell you can even work towards a double dragon finisher or a dragon + phoenix finisher mixed together.
All the hard players that have farmed to r70 now are getting their effort screwed by half population of pvp being r50.
Dragon finisher is meant to be exquisite and elitist emote for a very reduced number of players.
Now you just made it a joke. Plenty players will leave the game now due no recognition in effort.

For solo q run meta builds and respect your team members with serious stuff, since they want to win instead to lose because some guy is testing.
You have the mists for testing along npcs.
In the long term each player will hold its real match making rating.
The system we have now is really much more fair than it was before.
What we need: Incentives of rewards for players to join solo/team q (already in progress).
- Solo Q / team Q unlocked at rank 30 so no new players can join it
