Thing is, I literally started getting these emails the day I made my GW2 account. I never used the same email on any 3rd party sites so it can’t have been cross referenced in that way.
In my experience (and I have plenty) you guys have a data leak (either internal or external) or your accounts database is compromised in some way. That is how the scammers are finding out the email addresses linked to peoples accounts.

Well, it is kind of a con. So it’s quite funny when someone screws them over :P

This will never happen because it means the age rating for the game would need to be re-reviewed. Also countries like Germany are really anal about gore in games (even though they don’t seem to care about movies).
The difficulty is fine. I soloed pretty much the entire way to 80 doing most skill points and even some group quests solo. There needs to be content which is not soloable otherwise what is the point in playing online.
There is WoW if you want an easymode mmorpg, but you will probably grow bored of having no real challenge when you want it. You should also note that wow is slowly dying and has been for about 2 years now…

You always get clipping problems with stuff like that :/
I remember Bioware spending ages and many patches during the beta for SWTOR (which has very good animations etc, to the point where melee weapons actually make contact with each other) trying to fix clipping issues with certain races and gear combos. They eventually gave up and started using work arounds, because it was taking up so much time when more important stuff needed doing.
Also proper cloth simulations are not a good idea, because of the amount of players on screen in MMOs. The poly count and number of advanced graphical features needed to be kept down.
From what I’ve read hybrid crossfire (the dual graphics you have) is lots of problems for no noticeable performance gains. Your better off just using the more powerful card exclusively.

Naa, we don’t need this at all.
Please no more wings.. we need a lot of different options, not more and more wings that just looks lame and cheesy
This
In fact we need an option to turn off the wing graphics
Lol what? GW2 uses Havok?
It’s must be a super basic version of it because there is no obvious evidence of it in game.
Same with the “havok AI”. The AI in GWs (like pretty much all MMOs) consists of: if player then attack until dead while spamming abilities as often as possible :/
I’m not sure the Unreal engine will cope that well with 100s of players on screen, it’s not really meant for that kind of thing.
You would need to look at something like the Lightforge engine, (which was used in Planetside 2 and will be used in the new Everquest) and is designed for lots of players and huge seamless worlds.

Well the top PvE players are in EU
The top PvP players are also in EU
The top WvW payers .. what?
That is the way in a lot of MMOs though. Maybe people in the EU just have longer attention spans :P
Yea, one of the selling points and attractions to GW2 was that it was NOT a grindfest. But they seem to be going back on that, so what’s the point in playing GW2 over others MMOs?
Yea I hate it when games over do the particle effects and then don’t even give you an option to turn them down. MMOs are the worst for it :/
It kills fps and makes the game look like a mess. Even with a small group you can’t see which way an enemy is facing or what they are doing (or what your own is doing in melee), because all you can see is a big white blob.

Charr looked a lot better in the concept art. Less hunched and better armour. It’s a shame the final thing looks NOTHING like it :/
Look at http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/4/46/Charr_concept_art_2.jpg
Compared to how they actually are. The one who decided to go with what we have needs a hard slap.

To whom it may concern,
I just purchased and started playing guild wars 2 2.5 weeks ago. Before that, I never received an email from “ArenaNet”. I haven’t signed up for any sites, haven’t done any web searches for guides with the exception of accessing the wiki (through your link in the loader) and via Youtube. From day 1 of activating my account, I have received the “it has come to our attention that you are trying to sell your account” phishing scam email from the same Chinese IP 62.150.38.163. I believe your website has been compromised, or at the very least your outgoing mail server has an address sniffer on it. Please do something to fix this.
Same for me. I got a scam email right after making account, to the email I used to sign in with. That smells like someone either snooping traffic or stealing data in some other way.
I build systems and overclock them for a living.
Please Dump that psu, get a corsair psu they are the most stable and wellperforming, they also come in all sizes, I recommend atleast 800w.
Actually go for a Seasonic PSU. They make corsair’s high-end PSUs but sell their own branded ones cheaper
For motherboards I always stick to Gigabyte, because from experience they have been the most stable and built to last longer. The dual bios is also really nice when experimenting with overclocks.

The next generation of ATI cards are coming out soon (9000 series). So don’t bother upgrading yet.
Also yes, you can install your OS and a few games on to an SSD and keep the HDD with everything else on. If you do buy an SSD, stick to Intel and Samsung. A lot of the others are a bit un-reliable tbh. I’ve had a corsair and OCZ die on me within a year :/
Yea something is seriously messed up with your PC. Try re-installing the OS.
..Or it’s just massively under-spec. In which case it will never run the game properly no matter what you do to it.
It could also be a slow HDD, or one with bad sectors.
A corrupt install of directx can cause problems like that as well. Try downloading and running the installer from Microsoft’s site: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109

Still seeing this.
In town ALL other players have their weapons in hand, but are idle (so they have swords sticking through them etc). Seems like it might be effecting NPCs as well.
The problem with AMD cpus is they seriously lack performance unless they can use multi-threading (GW2 does not). The equivalent Intel CPU will probably be pushing double the fps using the same settings, because they are MUCH better at single thread processing.
Also the 650ti is not a very powerful card, so you will never get amazing fps from it. There are huge leaps up to the 660 and 670 in performance (768 stream processors vs 1344), which is what most are using for games like GW2 to get good fps with high+ settings.

Don’t know why your getting problems. I’m using a 2600k i7 and a 670gtx (lower spec than you) and the game runs just as smooth as it did before. Except now I can see people in towns more than 6 feet away, which is MUCH better.
But they do need to switch to 64bit, there is no reason to code for 32bit any more. 32bit PC hardware on went obsolete over half a decade ago.

An SSD doesn’t have much of an impact on GW2 really (I have tried it on and off an SSD). The difference in load times etc is very marginal. But it’s still worth it just to put the OS on.
Also I wouldn’t bother with an i7 for gaming, get an i5 and save money. The only reason you would need an i7 is for vmware/hyperv or other apps that use hyper-threading and make use of the logical cores. No games do so you won’t see any benefit.
Your CPU is definitely a bottleneck. Even the high end AMD cpus are pretty bad for games that don’t make use of multi-threading (99% of them) compared to Intels.
To get the most from a 770 you need to be matching it with a mid range i5 at least, plus overclocking. Which also means a new motherboard.
Install HWmonitor and look at the temps.
When idle things should be in the 40s on air cooling, or low 30s on water.
This is the display drivers crashing, which in turn can cause a hardware crash and system lockup. I have the same problems using a 670gtx in this game.
Under-clocking your card can help, but it doesn’t seem to fix the problem 100% in GW2 like it does in other games, so I think the game is partly to blame. But tbh I wish manufacturers would stop selling factory overclocked cards, a lot of them are not as stable as they should be. Not all cards will overclock the same and they don’t seem to understand that.
(edited by Nasher.6874)
This sounds a lot like overheating, or a power problem. I think it’s just a coincidence that it happened after a patch.
Check what the card’s core clocks are actually reaching when playing the game. I’ve been plagued by random system lockups in certain games using a 670gtx and I have found that the card is hitting 1145mhz, when it’s only supposed to max out at 1045 under boost! Usually downclocking slightly, or upping voltages fixes it (but not completely for gw2 it seems :/ )
Most games won’t push the graphics card to it’s limit so you don’t see this problem. E.g. in SWTOR my card rarely even goes above 900mhz with 200 players nearby (and unlike GW 90% of them don’t get culled). Yet for some reason GW2 thrashes the hell out of it when there is barely anything on screen.

I have a 670 and I crash
Sometimes I can play for hours and be fine, other times I get constant system lockups. I even tried a different motherboard, ram and PSU. Also tried underclocking my card to remove factory OCs. Nothing has helped…
Like a lot of other people, the crashing problems in this game are about to drive me away…

I got one of these to. I only started an account recently and now I receive this email. This is either a coincidence, or arenanet have a data leak. I’m betting it’s a leak, it usually is in this situations :/
I get this a LOT in GW2. In event logs I get this message after it happens: “Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.”
But most of the time my whole system locks up and I have to hard reset it :/
Some games have problems with OCed cards (inc. ones OCed out of the box), but that is fixed by underclocking the card slightly. But nothing I’ve tried helps with GWs. I’ve tried a different power supply, stripping out hardware etc..
