Hell NO!!
Compared to Elder Scrolls Online gw2 is a train wreck run by spoiled children.
Hmm. Anything yet?
Take your adult fantasies to an 18 and over game. This is not a topic for kids.
I bet if this forum was about how we loved the visual nerfs and we wanted more 8bit visuals Anet and Colin would be responding here. Lets give Anet what they want and leave GW2 and go back to Pen and Paper.
Problem solved!
Get yourself a refund.
Nope no one has had the courage to respond yet.
Just came in to check to see if anyone working for Anet had the courage to respond, but I can see they haven’t. Colin if this is how you treat your customers then I hope you FAIL! You deserve to FAIL! Oh well back to ESO.
So this is what this game has come to. PATHETIC! I think I’m going to join Reddit forums just so I can tell Colin and the rest of Anet how I feel, because they’ll never find out how their customer base feels in their own forums that’s for sure.
Get over here!!! Back to the top you go.
I just want to thank Anet. With my refund of HoT I purchased the Full game of ESO at half the price, and with the rest I made another pledge on SC.
You see Anet I’m spending my money on games I feel deserve my patronage. Using Bait and switch never pays off in the end; Lets include the shallow content, bug infested meta’s, and grind ridden mess that is HoT. All at the premium price of a FULL game.
Anet you’ve insulted this ex-customer for the last time.
Hell no. It’s nothing more than an overpriced grind fest.
Flamefang the Frizzled for charr, Deranged Lunatic human
Does anybody remember before this game was released on the official website under the class previews they had short 5-30 second videos of certain abilities/spells??? I remember watching them and linking them to a friend of mine and it made us both preorder the game.
Yeah, I know the feeling very well. After all the hype & previews of the Heart of Thorns Elite profession powers for months (I was especially excited about the Chronomancer’s time-bending effects), my wife and I immediately pre-ordered two HoT Ultimate Editions for a whopping $200 USD.
I got only got to enjoy my Chronomancer about a week before the Nov 17th patch destroyed her visual appeal in addition to trashing all of my other professions effects graphics. Can anyone see why I am extremely upset? The lack of a response just makes it worse. I guess ArenaNet doesn’t care since they already collected everyone’s money for HoT.
This might just go beyond false advertisement. Anet knew it was using these visuals to boost sales, and If Anet knew these visual changes were going to be implemented before the release of Hot then it’s was premeditated and that is now fraud. I would demand a full refund.
I sure wish someone had the intestinal fortitude to post here instead of other forums.
Flood Control? I have to wait 5 minutes between post! More like Damage Control.

Ehm… In response to A, Colin wrote this as a response to someone else. The “If you want to see the game fail I’m not sure why you’re here…” Bit was directed at the person he was responding to.
So what Colin’s is saying is that he knows this direction is doomed to fail so don’t watch it happen, or He is telling everyone that thinks this new direction of the game will fail to go away.
Well first of all your customers that took the time to post on YOUR forums are doing so in the hopes that you listen so the game doesn’t fail. Yet Colin’s takes his time to post a condescending response to his customer base concerning these visual nerfs on a different forum. This Shows the amount respect that Colin and Anet have for their customers.
I’m a really hardcore player but I never bought the expansion and find paying 50$ for thousands of game hours played to be too much.
Sure………you really sound like a dedicated player.
Do you realize how bored and cliche these types of “I quit posts” are? Oh this is your first mmo so you think it’s new.
Ad hominem, strawman, and hypbole all in one post. Gratz.
Now that’s funny. +1

As we double down on exciting and challenging content like raids, PvP leagues, and fractal dungeons, the need for us to push forward on solving some of the issues of visibility in combat become even more important for the future of Guild Wars 2. …
… The same goes for the need to help better support spectating content so that players who aren’t at the highest tier of competition in those areas can watch and learn from players whose builds and strategies can help them become successful.
Yes, how could we even think to blame e-sports for these changes… where would we ever get that idea?
A lot of us remember this and that’s what hurts us the most. We know it’s a lie. As per the forum rules here you cannot do personal attacks and must respect others. So Anet sent Colin to the reddit forums to attack and belittle the players that disagreed with them. IMO Colin’s post was nothing more than a Anet sanctioned hit piece on parts of it’s own customer base that they feel are no longer beneficial to them.

I for one love the new toned down effects. The clusterkitten of effects was unbelievably annoying and totally unnecessary. I think the new auras look more interesting and… sleek? I don’t know if that’s the right word. The old auras were just boring old spheres, didn’t look that interesting in my opinion. Also I play elementalist a lot, so I am extra thankful.
“I think the new auras look more interesting and… sleek?” You can’t seem them!!
But thanks for your 2cents or whatever Anet gave you.
At least read what Colin says before venting. He says it is not being driven by esports.
Of COURSE it isn’t .. it’s entirely coincidental all this nerfing happened as ANet’s e-sports antic got underway.
Blaming non-existent PVE QQ about visual effects is laughable but just another example of the contempt in which they hold most players these days.
Non-existent? Perhaps, you missed the countless threads lamenting the inability to see anything because of the over-abundance of visual effects. Many with screenshots.
So what you’re saying is that they should have had a setting for this years ago, but didn’t see at as a problem until after the sale of HoT and implementation of eSports.
How much time did they need to implement action camera? A year or more? What makes you think that it’s done over the weekend? You don’t have to answer me, just think yourself.
Yes, lets think about this. If this has been an existing problem for years then why was it not addressed? They have had years to address it, but have not. Yet when HoT and their eSports comes out they have a problem with it, and address it with a blanket “fix” in less than a month. Yep I thought about it, and the only logical conclusion I can come up with is that Anet is lying to me.

Hahaha. Good one Anet. I can’t stop laughing at how many refunds you’re going to have to give.
The truth of the matter is Anet knew it could not or would not be able to implement the visual effects it advertised in the GW2 expansion HoT. I believe this is a case for the courts on false advertisement. Demand a refund!
So Colin’s response is to belittle and berate their customers into believing that their visual nerfs that happen to coincide with their big eSports push have nothing to do with each other. Hmmm. Their HoT expansion showed all this great visual candy to help push sales then they take it away and we are supposed to believe what? So I guess what we have here is false advertisement. Anet knew they were going to remove these visuals after millions of customers purchased their expansion pack. Oh Anet lawyer up.
Remove the PvP League fail. It’s nothing more than VISUAL CLUTTER.
Anet just double down on their own demise. I’m already hitting other forums to tell people to stay clear of this eSport wannabe.

YES! I’m not alone..
OP welcome to HoT (Hate of Thorns). I feel your pain, and can only recommend that you get a refund. I did.
Using any excuse to nerf the F2P player in order to push them into the paid for content.
That doesn’t really make sense does it? People are going to take $50 and buy HoT because they dungeons rewards were balanced? I don’t think anyone is really that stupid to be frank.
Doesn’t make sense really? Did I say this nerf alone was going to make people buy an overrated, overpriced expansion? Read up on what F2P players can and can’t do then get back to me.
Very well written. Thanks for the read OP.
Ok you’re cut off sir. You’re going to have finish that last one at home. :p
I’ve been a very baaad boy.

Still no answer to my question. What core mechanics did they change? Oh I see, somebody deleted their post.
WRONG! I was censored by a moderator for my umm I don’t know why, but whatever. Thanks Mr. Mod. Enjoy your P2W game.. Goodbye.
What core mechanics did they change? I’ve been here for 3 years and I haven’t seen a change in “core mechanics”. Or do you mean the gold farm that dungeons were. Stacking in zerk gear for big money isn’t a mechanic.
Clearly you have set limitations if all you got out of this was dungeon farming. That being the case Anet has a NEW eSport game that you would definitely be interested in. Perhaps you’ve heard of it GW2 HoE the Heart of eSports.
(edited by NecroN.8306)
With changes like this Anet is showing how it really cares for it’s select few customers.
GW2=eSport Fail!
Everyone here ranting and complaining but doing nothing. Anet will continue in this practice until you hit them where it counts; their wallets. As in my previous post I stated that I’ve had enough and started the refund process. Well I’ve received a full refund from my HoT purchase and my sons. I promise you Anet heard my voice loud and clear.
I’ve already received my refund from the Bug infested Grind that is HoT.
Really? I would have never thought this to be problem. EVER. With all the other actual problems that need solving this does not even register as a problem. In fact I love transmutation charges and feel it’s one of the winning aspects of the game.
If Anet is our only hope then we’re all doomed.
Personally I don’t give a darn about my skills looking impressive. I want to be able to see what my enemy is doing, and I am tired of not being able to do just that.
Then go into your graphic options settings and adjust them so you can see your enemy. Do not make other people suffer when you can take care of your simple problem with a setting.
The whole problem is that, even with reduce effect LoD ticked, you still can’t see squat. Get any small group together and the game looks like someone is violently shaking a lava lamp in your face. It is rather selfish to demand that the notion of conveyance be ruined because you want the game to look like a back-lit tie-dye t-shirt is trying to eat your face.
Then you should be telling Anet to address this issue with the settings not breaking every players graphic immersion in the game.
Oh Anet I see what you’ve done here. You’ve made most the f2p worthless so people have to pay for your overpriced HoT expansion to get any kind of end game item content. Shame on you ANET!
I’ve already started my refund process. I will not put up with this * anymore.

I rate it a SOLID 3 out of 10. It’s nothing more than a grind fest that entire maps depend on 50+ people to attempt to complete. Don’t get me started on the BUGS. A year in the making and this is what we get!
We do have graphic settings for a reason Anet.
(edited by NecroN.8306)
So. We were all promised this that and the moon with the overpriced $50 expansion only to find out it’s bug ridden rehash of Invasion of the body snatchers story. Now they take away the visual appeal that we have already purchased. If I new Anet was going to do this I would never have purchased HoT for my son and myself. EVER! Anet you pulled a bait and switch. This with the bugged train wreck this HoT are to me grounds for me to get my money back. Anet knew they were going to do this and kept it under wraps. This would have definitely stopped me from purchasing HoT.
Right now it’s just worthless junk taking up valuable pack/bank space. Oh and thank you Anet for the rehashed Zhaitan/Invasion of the body snatchers rip-off story.
Then I will just chalk this down as another line of BS from Anet. Thanks all.
Why? There’s no evidence at all for what the drop rate was pre-patch (except: very very low). And there’s no data now either for whatever the new drop rate might be (except: very very low). All we have is stories from people who did or didn’t get a few keys; we don’t know how many drops they are getting, so we have no baseline with which to compare.
tl;dr we don’t know the drop rate before the patch; we don’t know it after — it’s (so far) impossible to say if it’s higher or the same.
You are 100% right. There is No evidence that they raised the key drop rate at all. Without Anet showing us the actual drop rate it’s just empty words (BS).
Then I will just chalk this down as another line of BS from Anet. Thanks all.

•Laurel vendors now sell 1 hour of the new Item Booster, replacing the Laureate Magic Find Booster.
•Laurel vendors now sell 1 hour of the new Experience Booster, replacing the Laureate Experience Booster.
I would like to know what the key drop rate was and went to. I can’t be the only one thinking this is just BS. Stephane you made a statement saying Black Lion Chest Keys now have increased drop rates, but from what I’ve experienced is that it has not increased at all. Would you be so kind to tell us all what the drop rate was and what it is now?
I for one have never EVER received a key as a random drop, but at least I’m now flush with Black Lion Chests.
Has anyone noticed this increase please share.
