Remove 3 player requirement for g missions

I don’t care about the semantics definition & the philosophical argument about “what is a guild?”. Edit: (i.e. “how many players does it take to form a guild? 2? 3? 5?”)
But, as a WvW player, i care about just one thing: the WvW upgrades/buff granted by guilds.

Before the HoT WvW changes i had three 1-man “guilds”. I spent money in them to grant constant +5 to my server when/if needed.
Now even if you play h24 WvW you can’t even claim a structure for a +5 becase “excuse me Sir, you’re not in a guild, so we don’t care”. That is totally silly.

I think some of us (including me) are just tired of the whole thing.

- New WvW came out; it was disappointing and frustrating for countless reasons
- We went to WvW forum to try reason with Anet
- We got no response whatsoever from them
- Even more disappointment and frustration
- We just gave up

Personally I found my internal peace. I know if anet won’t change stuff, WvW will be dead to me. And that’s all that matters to me.

Looking forward for Blade&Soul and Black Desert. Meanwhile, some chill out PvE in GW2 and WvW forums

KILLED WvW Guilds

As I’ve posted many times, Guilds should not be prioritized in WvW, period! Worlds need to be a cohesive military force. Buffs need to be available to every soldier of a World because they all matter equally. Not gating buffs to social cliques, especially to only the largest large social cliques at that.

The entire design concept of gating WvW buffs to guilds is a complete failure….

With all respect to guilds i must say i agree with this. If you are a WvW player, you are a WvW player. Period. It doesn’t matter if you are in a 300 man guild or a guildless lone wolf. As long as you are an active member that does stuff, you deserve the possibility to earn your buffs

Guilds deserve some “extra stuff”, since they are, well, guilds (which should mean a group of people who play with the same mindset for a common purpose). But making +5 and such SO much related to guild (and ONLY to guild) is disrespectful for the guildless WvW players that yet do a lot of work and deserve credit.

Old BL alone will be pointless if they don’t revert the mechanics changes they did as well (autoupgrades etc). Because that is what is screwing WvW, not “a map”.

“server pride means nothing”. Well. LoL. No. The biggest % of players like to fight with/for a community they know rather than jump into a chaotic field and spam 1 because “rewards only matter”.

Legendary/ascended stuff is not a top priority for a WvW player and it certanly won’t bait properly any PvE player. So this is pointless.

Some suggestions for improving WvW since HoT

Recommendation 1.
EDIT: ok i’ve red your edit. I got clearer picture now so, i second this.

Recommendation 2
Totally yes on the WP back to W and E keeps but i think these wp still should be earned even in home BL, so they should be a result of upgrades like good old times. This would incite people to actually care even more about defense (if you don’t def -> you lose WP -> enjoy walking this endless map).
I’m not sure about the limit players x WP at a given time tho. It would split guilds/commanders groups in half making things a bit uneasy, maybe even leading to flame and such “omg commander why you wped your gruop? We said we [GUILD] wanted to wp there!”

Recommendation 3
Yes, just yes, remove oasis. Pointless full pve event that doesn’t make any sense in WvW and it is unbalanced since it is an additional tool for the strongest server on the field. But for this same reason, i don’t think something like “king of the hill” would be ok either (still the stronger server would benefit from it).
My idea: maybe they could make some small arenas where only a minimum/maximum ammount of players can be inside at same time and they can fight inside there for something that will lead to a small boon that grants some small benefits to whole server (ONLY in that map, not like former bloodlust).

Like immagine 5 circle areas like former ruins: if 3 green are inside 1 area then 3 and only 3 blue can enter this same area and join w/e quest inside. The winner gets the temporary server boon.

Or something else, i don’t know and tbh i don’t care, but oasis event must disappear.

Recommendation 4
I agree, upgrades must be human made so that everything is earned and not granted. Make the costs a mix of badges and karma and very low coins, so scouts can afford it.

Recommendation 5
EDIT: Ok i looked a bit better the picture and i think i figured out the whole “pair” “tiers” “major and minor” etc, makes sense. +1

Recommendation 6
All i care about guild claiming is this: It doesn’t matter if you’re in a 300 man guild or 1 man guild. If you are a WvW player you deserve full rights to give +5 to a structure. The rest is more “guild focused” stuff; altho i understand these problems i can’t say much about it since i’m a lone wolf.

Good job Grendel and nice detailed walltext. But i hate you because you didn’t read my own thread T_T

With merged servers/alliances any sense of server community/identity etc would go into the toilet. Not to mention that apart for some bottom rank servers merging servers is simply impossible due to too big populations.

And btw i can’t believe that after all the hell left behind by the WvW mechanics changes you consider this useless thing as the “first step to fix WvW”. Dem priorities.

SM Mass stealth Fountain. Why Anet why?

Wow i had no idea about this.

The new WvW is so full of kittens that i can’t even keep track of all them apparently.

I’m not sure if people answering with “well, use AC mastery” “well, use stealth traps” “well, use more scouts” are either trolling, just inexperienced players or straight forward stupid guys (no offense, but really).

How would you use AC to reveal a stealthed zerg? You place multiple ACs all around SM in the middle of nowere pressing #5 (everytime it is not on cooldown) in a random direction hoping for the best?

Stealth traps? Yeah, in a lifetime i havent’ seen a server putting effort in using supply removal traps massively and with coordination near own structures. Coordination to deploy any routh the enemies can take from SM while stealthed (aka everywhere) is never going to happen.

Scouts were a rare sight, they’ll slowly die with new WvW “autoupgrades and yay for karma train-mechanics” so that’s never going to happen either.

= this massive stealth is the 95th nail in WvW’s coffin.

I see a few claims that the maps are “too big”. What metric are you using to determine that?

I could probably answer simply with: commonsense. It would sound a kittenildish, but definitely short and correct. But hey.

Any player that spent a lot of time in EB/alpine BL naturally feels/notice that the new map is resonably too big for what WvW is intended to.

You don’t need a “meter” to say that, just like you don’t need to walk from USA est coast to west coast with a meter on your hand before you’re allowed to say “it is a big nation”.

Last but not least, you’re forgetting things i/we mentioned in other posts:

1) It is not just the size of the map that makes it big, but also other things (additional vertical spaces, no WP = slower movements around etc)
2) Map size is the least of WvW current problems. The changes to the mechanics are the real deal.

Guild Hall, Guild Claiming and WvW

The sad truth is – Guild Halls aren’t meant for a guild with less than 4 players. In other words, a guild with less than 4 players shouldn’t be able to claim an objective in WvW – to which I’m okay with. I’m tired of seeing a claimed tower/keep with NO BUFFs whatsoever.

You are assuming that each big guild grants buffs and that small guilds are not reliable for claiming buffs. That is just wrong. Before HoT i had 2 guilds purely for +5. 2 guilds with only me in them. As a single player, for +5 claim i was more reliable than entire guilds.

So don’t say stuff like “well who cares about small guilds, they can’t grant buffs anyway”. The problem of claiming with no buff is a whole different topic than this (btw this problem could be easily resolved by anet with a suggestion i made ages ago in a video, but that’s another story).
Point is, don’t “discard” small guilds/lone wolves.

This is a very common, very reasonable complain i’m hearing here and there.
You also mentioned how this damages small guilds/lone wolves and i’d like to underline that a bit.

A guild needs a lot of gold/time/resource to actually make useful upgrades for WvW (and they are forced to PvE as well). This is a BS expensive way (there’s no other way of saying it).
But for those who play out of guilds is even worse.

I’ll never be able to grant +5 to a structure/my server, no matter how much time/gold/PvE i can invest in it. I just can’t, simply because i am not in a guild.

Wth does that mean? Why if i play WvW i can’t do my part of the job even for claiming? Anet, don’t treat us lone wolves like we are not WvW players.

Some of us, even if out of guilds, do a lot to “earn theyr keep”…pun intended.

Ah, and don’t mind those that say “learn the map first”. They just start with the religious assumption that “you didn’t check the map!”.
Not to mention that focusing just on “it is the map” proves that they missed the real changes to WvW (aka the mechanics, not the map). So they have no clue about the bigger picture; they have no idea what they’re talking about.

The map size is NOT the problem of this new WvW.

Wake the f up people, they changed loads of mechanics, not just the bloody look of a map.

And btw, i have seen the new map filled, quite a lot of times now and guess what: empty or full it changes nothing; new WvW is awful. That is because you don’t need to see the new map “filled, before judge it properly”.

If a footbal match is going to be played with kitten rules in a stadium that is not well designed for it, you don’t need to “wait for the stadium to be filled with people, before you can judge that match”.
That game will be played with silly rules in a bad enviroment: this is what matters. Period.

Everyone please stop complaining about WvW. Anet did a good job. Plain and simple. It is the players that are making sound so crappy. The map is great. Yes there aren’t many people but they will be returning in the coming weeks. And yes there are some things that they need to fix but the mechanics and flow of the map are not terrible.

Litterally in each line of your comment there is a at least 1 proof that you didn’t bother even read any of the posts in here, and that you’re out of place. There is not a single argumentation or counter-argumentation. Not a single “well, i think that what you said is not correct because insert reasons here”.

Look, you’re free to think what you want about the WvW changes, but don’t come here and say “stop making complaints with valid argumentations because my argumentation is blank”.

Well, “my QQ” about WP, if you want to call it that way, is very reasonable considering i did care (also) about defending. It is your home BL = if you spend time to care about it = you get rewarded with WP that makes mobility across the map and defenses easier. Makes sense.

You say the new map is not as big as i think. Like i said in the previous post it actually becomes even bigger than it is, due to WP mechanics.

On the other hand, i like that you can’t get WP in enemy EB keeps. But i don’t like that you get WP in your own EB keep for free (just like i don’t like the whole “automatic process”).
I never really liked the fact that you could get a WP in enemy keeps (like you’re green and you defend so much red keep that you get a WP there). Some might say “well, it is the same thing: you put your efforts in defending, so you’d be rewarded with a WP”. BS. Honestly, if a server can manage to focus on getting a WP in EB enemy keeps or enemy BL maps, that means they are probably steamrolling alredy and a WP in these keeps would just make things further unbalanced, frustrating etc.

PS: a 4 server MU like you suggested would be a pain for FPS (i heard MANY people are having massive fps issues just with the map, even where there is basically nobody in it).

[Feedback] Guild Claiming & War Room Upgrades

My guild has only 1 member. Me.

Long story short: before HoT i had 2 guilds both sustained with influence points purchased via an NPC (that has been removed).

Now you can say all you want about how pathetic it can sound to have not 1 but 2 guilds as a single player. However, point is with both upgraded purely for +5, i was able to either have 2 +5 in a map or “chain the 2 claimings” so that my server/s could have +5 even after i logged off.

And if you are a smart/experienced WvW player, then you can immagine how useful that “tactic” can be. Not to brag, but as for +5 claims i was more reliable than entire guilds.

So i’ll get to the point. I am not in a real guild. I am not interested in GH and all the rest. (Altho ofc i perfectly understand real guilds want to discuss and fix any problems about GH, upgrades etc, and i genuinely wish you all the best luck with that).
All i want is the +5

Before HoT I spent many days/time/gold to care about sharing +5 with my server and now suddenly the game threats me like some kind of “non-WvW-player”. This is riddiculous.

Yes, guilds hall are for guilds, yes, give them all the upgrades they deserve, i am totally fine with that. But please, don’t cut me off +5 only because i prefer to stay guildless…

Just to make sure that we don’t lose focus on OP, i’d like to remind/clarify few things.

1. The map feels like desert not because “people are in PvE; things will get better in the future”.
The map is too big and (in some areas) bad designed for WvW purposes, regardless if it is empty or full. In fact, i played in that map even while at least 1 server (mine) had quee in it. It still didn’t feel right due to size and layout.

2. The new map (by itself) is NOT the main problem.
Indeed, like i said, size&layout affect WvW in many ways (moving/roaming, fights, scouting, sieging, refreshing, sweeping etc etc, just to make few examples). But what makes you notice/feel even more all these negative things is this: there are no possible WP upgrades to keeps. With slower movements, any kind of “action” (any kind, really) feels additionally long&boring.

So yeah, new map is directly and indirectly a big source of evil things. But don’t go tunnel vision like “oh, it is the map because the map”.
Keep in mind that they changed A LOT some of the core WvW mechanics, not just “a map”.

[Constructive Feedback] Desert Borderlands

  • Anything and everything. I play/played WvW with each existing class and i do/did any WvW possible role (scout/sieger/upgrader/dolly runner, roamer, enemy zerg stalker/spotter, “right arm of the commander”, commander, zerg fights and guild raids).
  • EB has always been more “let’s all zerg around!” than Alpine BL map, apart from that it never affected my style while doing any of the forementioned roles ^
  • My style changed with new BL map due to the map changes AND due to general WvW mechaincs changes.
  • The borderlands have not impacted my build/s at all.
  • In my experience (aka over 5k hours spent in WvW) capturing an enemy structure can take 1 minute just like it can take 40 minutes; it really depends everytime by how big/organized are the attacking and defending groups. However, i can say that capturing stuff in this new BL is way easier for reasons i’ll link later on.
  • WvW loot looks still the same: awful. Any reward obtained in WvW after X hours of play is incredibly lower compared to PvE rewards gathered in that same X hours. And for people who play only WvW the HP gain system currently going is simply unfair.
    (Not to mention that this^ actually incites people to go mindless karma train around just to rank up quickly, and that kills the whole sense and strategy of WvW).
  • Again, don’t pretend like the change was just “a map”, because it is not. They changed a lot of core WvW mechanics. Altho i am not happy with the new BL i can live with that. But i know that with the mechanics changes WvW will become a brainless fest. At that point i’ll quit GW2.
  • I’ll just mention the real importan ones: remodel the areas of the map that are awful for WvW purposes (nonsense cliff, heights etc) make keeps smaller.
  • They will be raised in a WvW with 0 strategy mechanics that incite only to go karma train…And they will actually enjoy thi mindless fest, because that is all they’ll know….I feel sorry for all future new WvW players.
  • It really depends by what you mean with “veteran”. A “veteran” h24 karma train zergling won’t care about these mechaincs changes. But a real veteran player that know what WvW truly is meant to be will hate the new mechanics (yes, again, it is about mechanics, not the borderland). A scout, for example, will see that his role is pointless, the new mechanics incite to discard defense and go karma train, and he’ll quit WvW (it alredy happened to the most dedicated scout i know).
  • I don’t know in which map you’ll be more likely to find me. Since defending is pointless and i have to grind to get the elite specialization i will follow the mindless karma train wherever it will go. But you can find me in any WvW map really, if i am not too bored of it and i went to glide in HoT.

Ciao Dawn! Mi fa piacere sapere che sei ancora su GW2

-Yeah, i understan that to get a better idea of the whole thing it takes some time, however not so much. I didn’t say “whole map is super duper impossible to navigate and there’s not a single spot that is suited for fights”. Actually i really like some spots. Very open, good looking, some small edges here and there so you can get a small advanate from heights etc etc. But then again, after wandering the map while paying attention, nobody can deny that some areas are awful for WvW purposes and definitely need to be remodelled a bit.

-Since you can’t WP to “new bay” and “new hills” actually there is not plenty of time to react to attack (not to mention that like i said imo this new WvW doesn’t incite to be a scout, so many flip will just happen unnoticed).

-People think it is too early to jump at conclusions because "you need to see it when there are more players " and stuff like that. But it doesn’t matter if there is just 1 player on the map (you) or a full que from all 3 servers. It is irrelevant for the real core point: autoupgrades removed the importance of people to pay attention to structures (if they really want to PPT), that + big areas to scout/siege made scouting process more useless, irrelevant, expensive, boring. Resulting in no strategy defenses, and that = 0 real challenge in attacking as well.

“Stuff could be interesting in the future”
Altho i focused on underlining the big problems, I actually like some of the new content. And yes as long as you’re with friends and such you can always find things interesting and have fun even in the most awful WvW scenario possible to think. However, i’d like to see WvW still focused on strategy. But for the reasons mentioned here and in OP, the new WvW is going to lose a masssive chunk of strategy.

“Get to know the structure and you won’t find it so big anymore.”
Like veryone else here, i surely am miles and miles away from being expert of this map, however, i can tell you i am not talking at random. I have spent quite some time to take a good look at things.

It is not the first comment about siege, so now i’ll explain myself a bit better.

Let’s compare older Hills inner with with Harrier’s Palace inner (just as 1 of the many possible examples).
Hills inner: few acs by W&N gates, treb at the end of bridge (maybe some ACs there as well to be turned towards W/N sides when enemies breach an ally group holds) and some AC back of lord room.

It is a great example of good & balanced siege coverage, for both sides. Overall few siege, so not too expensive for defenders and not too BS for attackers.

Now, Palace inner yard is so BIG that If you actually manage to siege so that any possible hot spot is covered (breach spots AND open spaces where your zerg holds the line vs enemy zerg) the results are terrible: expensive to siege/crazy to refresh as defender, BS and frustrating for attackers.

But ofc it is never going to happen (good sieging was expensive/boring etc in older BL alredy, here you have 0 motivation to even try to do good sieging).
So, back to square 1, siege defense will be ineffective/not used → 0 strategy in defending → 0 strategy for attackers.

Besides, this is not just about sige. You need to notice all the other minor&major consequences of these changes. Just another random example: how do you even sweep for mesmers in such a massive area? You don’t. It would require a full zerg to spread out for a couple of minutes. That is never going to happen. People will lose interest in sweeping. Small/big groups can hide and flip back stuff in a snap (alredy happening as we speak).

^And there you go, back to square 1, the game doesn’t make it easy for you to care about structures. No real care for defense, no real challenge in attacking. Everything is just mindless trainining around.

@ Bakes. I said that the map is too big and not friendly, but it has nothing to do with people playing PvE these days.
This map is wrong, for the forementioned reason, regardless if there is a group of 10 players or there’s a kittenrom all 3 servers. So you can’t dismiss the whole thing with “weeeeee, people are just in PvE, chill out dude”, because that is not the point.

@ Puck. Yes, like i said there are other problems (some bigger than others) and btw i agree with those you mentioned. But i believe the 4 ones i wrote are the most important/mechanics changing ones.

-You can say “it is just PvE effect” and i can say the opposite, point is: it is irrelevant for the real problem i meant to expose. I don’t care if in the map there are only 5 players or a whole quee. The point is the same: the map is still too big and bad designed for fighting purposes (especially in some areas).

-Believe me, i don’t mean to offend you in any way but “1 treb there and 1 ac there” is miles and miles away from what i meant when i said “effectively sieging these keeps, to make sure that each area is covered”. And, again, these keeps are so massive that good siege coverage is virtually-not-so-vistually impossible/expensive/tedious to do etc.

-These are not about elites scouts. Everyone get mad a “who started fortify?!?” “who built these rams inside the keep?!?” etc. That is irrelevant for the subject we’re talking. And in your response you bypassed completely my main point: scouting was hard and with no reward; they didn’t fix this in the right way, so now scouting is irrilevant (due to auto upgrades) and impossible (again, massive areas to scout, impossible/expensive siege etc).

It is a fresh release with lot of new stuff so, you know, bugs and such are inevitable.
Let’s focus on the real deal.

1. New BL is not friendly.
Some people may say “well it is new, you just have to get used to it” but that is not the point. The point is: the map is indubitably bigger and with a complex layout, especially in particular areas. For the groups it takes a lot of time to move around the map, sometimes across a boring, long, uneasy way. It takes ages to find enemy groups for open field fights, not to mention that (i’ll say it again) some areas of the map are just not well designed for fights.
EDIT Since many people go tunnel vision on this point, i am going to clarify: this has nothing to do with “there are few people around in WvW due to PvE”. The map is too big and bad designed for fights (in some important areas), regardless if in the map there are only 5 players or a full quee.

2. Defending strategy is dead.
Each keep is soooooo big to the point that it takes a lifetime to even check WHERE it is getting contested. Effectively sieging these keeps, to make sure that each area is covered, is virtually impossible, waaaaaaay more expensive, and a way longer and tedious process. Like, can you actually stop for a moment and truly immagine and visualize it how it would be riddiculous to siege such a big area AND REFRESH that siege?

3. Scouts will die.
Sieging, upgrading and scouting in WvW was just for an elit part of players. It was never a rewarding task, but at least at the end of the day, you could watch that keep and say “I feel happy about what I have achieved”. Instead of showing appreciation to scout’s efforts arenanet removed complitely any sense to theyr role by making any upgrade process, escorting etc complitely automatic, and instead of giving rewards to scouts they made scouting even more hard to do, boring, expensive and overall pointless and ineffective.

4. Attacking strategy is dead.
So, scouts and defending siege are dead. And with no real defenses on your way, that means the whole point of attacking a structure will also be boring and meaningless. There will be no longer the pleasure, the challange for a commander and a zerg to actually think, “ok what is the best way for us to work as a team to break the enemy siege defenses and breach inside that structure?”. Everything will just be a brainless karma train with 0 strategy involved.

Ofc zergs fights will still be there but that is different. Some people may dislike siege wars and think only about open field fights, personally i like to do both things; and to me, the use of siege weaponry was a very important mechanic in WvW that actually required strategy and teamwork both for attackers and defenders, and now that strategy is pretty much dead.

There are other problems about the new WvW but atm it is a bit pointless to talk about those because in my opinion these 4 are the real BIG ones that deserve attention right now.

Just tested this and it still works in HoT.

I think that what you guys did to WvW with HoT is far more concerning atm, but hey, i won’t digress or go off topic.
Just genlty reporting in that this portal+siege thing is still working in a non-intended way.

EDIT: Ok i expressed myself poorly. Yes, the main problem looks fixed. If you try place a 6th siege with a portal it looks like it doesn’t get deployed. However, you can still deploy siege (if number of limit is not reached) with that portal mechanic. Is that intended?

This limit can be bypassed. How? Well a video explains better than words:

“Omg cheater!” “Why you made it public? >_>” etc etc.

I am tired to answer to these ^ comments.
Just like for all the videos about bugs and such i made in the past (auto-rally, duplicated golems) i do not want to exploit this and i do not encite people to do it.

I made this video for fun, but this is kinda a serious thing that could affect WvW mechanics. All i am asking here is anet to work on a fix to this. Simple as that.

So people can start an upgrade if needed before it gets drained.

This seems cool but could lead to some epic trolling. For example: I build a spy account [etc]

It’s inevitable some features can be used as troll. In fact this alredy happens for countless things (order guards upgrade in keep while its under attack, go suicide golems off cliff, drop trebuchet in the middle of a zerg and have some pugs waste supplies, etc etc, you name it).

And they can’t really be fixed. So, we can’t really go paranoia for that and stop proposing suggestions.

1: I don’t know why, but it seems many people miss what’s the point of this suggestion.
I assume some people are used to just being in a/following a guild that “always” has a +5. Stick with them, stuff gets flipped, they have access to claim (due to majority), they put the +5. Everyone happy.
But if you’re in a pug zerg or a small roaming group with mishalaneous guilds tags this is not how it goes (most the times).

I really don’t understand why if i have a +5 i can’t immediately give it to everyone just because in that group we have more [guild x] guys, who don’t want to/can’t put a +5 anyway. It is just stupid.

2: If we allow the “take over rule”, then there’s no need to “lose the claim” when buffs end anyway. I’ll repeat myself tho: +5 is the one really important buff than can make a difference in defending. That is why this should apply to all structures and not only camps. Also: I’d rather have only a +5 then all buffs exept +5; so in this take over thing, +5 should always be the 1 value that matters.

5: You don’t play often with pug groups, do you? XD Ofc this doesn’t happen always, but when it happens it’s just silly. 5 secs of sups invulnerability won’t change anything in WvW rythm really. Ah, ps, standing right next to quartermaster doesnt help. When camp flip people just need to press f to take sups, while you have to press f to talk to quartermaster, click on upgrade and click to start. It’s impossible to be faster and avoid drain.

6: Means you don’t play 8 characters, all with siege, refill theyr stacks, and swap between them often.

AvAvA is short for Alliance vs. Alliance vs. Alliance. So instead of Server vs. Server vs. Server, you’d have alliances not linked to the server you’re on, which makes it unimportant what server you’re on, or what server your guild mates are on.

You’re forgetting the point of this thread’s 10 suggestions: “simple things”. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with this AvAvA-thing, but i’m saying it would basically change WvW complitely. So it’s not a “simple thing”. And it is not related to the original topic either.

1) For convenience I agree, but then you get the really sensitive people who are like “we have more people, we did most of the work, why are you claiming this?”

2) As with no 1, I agree for convenience sake, but then what about other buffs? What if somebody else has claimed and they have MF buffs and combat buffs etc, but no supply buff. Should another guild be able to claim over that? It will get a bit complicated unless the rule is simplied to something like “If a guild has no buffs running, other guilds can claim over them after x minutes/hours/whatever”.

6) I’d say no, since siege are not account bound.

8) No. That just encourages elitist behaviour.
9) No point. If the enemy seriously outnumber you to the point that they have enough supply and people to put down a ridiculous number of rams or catas, they’re going to take it anyway. No need to put an arbitrary cap on the number of siege.

1: I hope there are no kitten “hey WE were the most here during the cap so WE want to claim to give the +5” out there, but anyway, to “fix” this: The guild with majority members during a cap would still have the “major right” to claim “theyr” structure after capture. So, example: if 10 guys flip 1 camp and 5 are from same guild and 5 are miscelanous ones, if a “miscelanous guy” claim right after a cap, someone from the “5 guys guild” can “overthrow” the claim. But if miscelanous-guy claim with a +5 and 5-guys-guild has no +5, they can’t overthrow.

2: +5 is the most valuable buff. It is the one that really can make a difference between losing or defending a structure. Not to mention it is the most useful one even in time of peace, cause the group can constantly stack up on supplies. Anyway, i’d be fine wine even with your idea of making the “take over in claim” temporary .

6: The problem can be solved witouth turning siege in account bound. Just add an inventory bag (for siege only, available only in WvW) where you can access, put/take all your siege, regardless the character you are playing with at that time.

8: I didn’t mean to sound kitten. There is nothing wrong with being new to the game and having a “blurred idea” of what’s best to do. We’re all like that at the start.
I wasn’t being elitist.
But you need to see it from the other way: Some upgrades at wrong time can really be harmful. The upgrades that drain a lot instantly (hire additional guards, raise guards lvl for example) or slowly over time (WP, fortify) should be unlocked later on as a reward. Like the masteries for WvW really. The more you rank up the more “rewards” you unlock. I am not saying access to the major upgrades should be unlocked by WvW masteries (that doesnt sound too bad actually tho), but it’s just an example to give you the idea. If players obtain the power to do the major upgrades only after they have spent some time in WvW, then hopefully by that time someone alredy told them how upgrades works and what is best to do and why.

9 (and 10). It’s not true that “they’re going to take it anyway”. The number of rams deployable on a gate DOES affect many times if a tower/keep is captured/defended or not. With a limit to how many rams are deployable to a gate, plus the nerfed/scaling PvD things would be way more balanced.

It’s impossible to make everyone happy, so obv there will be disagrement and tears.
But if people will give feedback, and if anet will pay attention to the topic, then hopefully at least a couple of these suggestions will survive the meatgrinder-discussion and be approved. That’s what i dream.

1) Any guild should be able to claim right after a capture. Why:
In a game based on supplies, yes, all these constant supplies left behind due to “sry i can’t +5” are a real deal.

2) A guild with +5 should be able to take over a guild with no +5. Why:
Piles and piles of supplies are unused in depots simply because a guild claimed with no +5 (or it expired).

3) Golem owners should be able to kick people inside them. Why
Kick from own siege works for all siege alredy; why not also for the expensive golems?

4) Mystic forge recipes to get 10x blueprints.
Just refreshing an old suggestion, i know.

5) After a capture, supplies should briefly (like 5 sec) be impossible to take. Why:
So people can start an upgrade if needed before it gets drained.
Edit: according to an HoT announcement, this will basically “be fixed”.

6) Blueprints and traps should be shared between all characters inventory. Why:
Managing all the siege/traps spread across 8 characters is annoying and confusing.

7) /supplyinfo should have a wider AOE and be easier/faster to do. How and Why:
“stack pls” – “/supplyinfo” too much to type for a very frequently needed supply scan which also has a too small radius. Increase the aoe radius and add a “push to sup count” button for commanders.

8) Major upgrades shouldn’t be available for low WvW exp players. Why:
As shown in the video: “hire additional guards” instant -600 supplies while enemies are attacking. Classic. Usually mistakes done by new WvW players simply trying to help. But since upgrades can harm, the power to start the big ones should be granted later; hopefully by that time they’ll have learned from more exp players what is best to do with upgrades.
Edit: according to an HoT announcement, this will basically “be fixed”.

9) Limit N° of rams deployable x gates. Why:
Siege wars should be based on strategy, not on mindless bruteforce ram spamming.

10) Change PvD. How and Why:
PvD should only come in help in those situations where you lowered a gate to 10-15% but the enemies destroyed your rams and you don’t have supplies for more. Gates should take PvD damage only at 10-15% or below. For tagging/contested purposes they can still be attacked even when above 10-15%, but won’t receive dmg.
And since the game shouldn’t give advantages to blobs: the dps that each player can do to a 10-15% gate should be a fixed ammount and should scale based on how many players are close to that gate.

You have to be serious about “something” only when that “something” deserve any kind of seriousness, and this is definitely not the case. And it’s not in-depth because it takes 5 seconds in game to find what is wrong and why.

Posting it here because WvW players are The players and because WvW is The place affected by the changes.

how do you know those are easy fixes? do you secretly run MMO servers and code on gigantic teams and gaming data to know that? or are you just assuming because thats the fun thing to do? they got to it when they could , and it HAPPENED! let them get to things, they can’t rush every single complaint you have every day. it takes time and coordination and actual work to do that stuff.

I don’t know (and don’t want to) if you genuinely just have no clue/experience of the game’s problems & how anet usually “handle” them, or if you’re a “white knight” posting non-needed words “in the name of anet!” because thats the fun thing to do

The problem is real, cause it’s true it just feels like Anet is not paying attention to the WvW problem(s) .

People keep posting ideas & suggestion to fix/change/improve stuff (being finally able to kick people from own golems, siege wallet, guild tag, a GvG system outside WvW so guilds can stop transfer every second and finally put roots in the server/community they want rather than the one they are forced to go in order to have some fights; etc etc, you name it).

Even when 99,9% of community agrees on something, usually Anet keeps say is either “nope” or “we’ll think about it” …

Random example: think about how much time it took to anet to do the Commander tag account shared & multi colors. Such an easy/fast thing to do and always asked by EVERYONE…and yet it took them ages.

Communtiy discuss stuff in forum, community gets ignored by anet, community give up on posting/reading forum, game doesn’t improve. Easy as that.

Thank god only very few have this mindset. WvW is about collective strategy, fights, assault and defense with siege and what not. If you play WvW purely for kills i suggest you PvP, GvG in OS and such. Or might as well just go play CoD4.

Oh please, this whole thing of devs going wvw was a big joke. Going only in blobby servers (no offense to anyone) just doesn’t show the real/whole status&problems of WvW.

And btw, what kind of joke feedback these devs had from? Lowering the n° of rally? Removing white swords? (well no surprise there, as anet totally incite to go mindless blobby style). Like seriousely, is that what you think WvW needs the most?

The name on building sites and the nerf on disablers are good things, but the question is: was it needed to send devs to understand such obv things? No. Just like acc spread tag and additional colors: it’s not that you did an awesome feature, its that you made a feature that was supposed to exist since way earlier.

Still no acc shared blueprints, you can’t kick people from your own golems, you need to stop and type /supplyinfo every dam time to check supplies, green keep WG is paper even at T3, and i don’t know how many silly things of WvW that needs fix/improvement i could still be able to type.

I don’t know where you sent those devs, but they surely learned like 0 of WvW real problems & co.

I moved from WSR to AG along with my friends at the beginning of June.

As short as possible: the WvW here is very nice. You can get all the benefits from a “low tier server” (no/low quees, no skill lag, no mindless blobing around etc) while having access to a competitive and active WvW environment where you can still help in different (concrete) ways and have a noticeable impact on the match ups, both as individual and as guild group.

All that in a, usually, very friendly and warm communtiy environment. Are you a new player? An hardcore veteran? New to commanding? A chill around guild? The Glade pretty much welcome everyone, as long as you are nice and play for the team.

Very positive feedback so far; come get on board and join the funtime (and the loot).
