I don’t want to sound too heartless, but how do you people that get motion sickness deal with other games?
Other games? You mean Civ VI, or WoW, or what? If we’re talking about MMOs, i only play ffxiv and wow now, and they work perfectly fine for me (and they care about such issues). Anet is ready to release a mount-based expansion, and the effects they chose for the mounts do cause nausea. Ppl predisposed to MS (and migraines) tend to avoid games that can cause nausea, but ArenaNet already faced the problem from the very start of GW2 and introduced some features like Collision Sensitivity and Field of View settings in 2015 (yep, for some reason it took some years to develop, test and introduce those options).
So calm down and don’t underestimate the developers. Maybe they’ll find a solution suitable for everyone. If they really care.
Try to use this thread only for your feedback about MS. Keep it clean pls.
i never really watch ME, i watch ahead. and while doing so on my mount, i dont even SEE the movements its making.
You don’t really get the problem, do you? It has nothing to do with mount’s running animations hun.
Hello,
I merged this thread to make it stand out a little better and to focus attention on this situation so that if others also are experiencing such issues, they can join in.
I’m sorry that you’re having this issue. I wonder, have you tried lowering your Visual Blur setting? That is a specific recommendation from the team, and they feel it may help with this problem.
We’d love to hear from you if this adjustment is effective. Team members who have worked/are working on the mounts will be tracking this feedback!
Thank you, Ms. Gray!
Today i lowered my Motion Blur Power setting (i suppose this is the ‘Visual’ one), but it didn’t help much. What’s really changed is that now migraine-like headaches come before nausea not after, so i can call it a brand new experience
but i had to log out after like 8 minutes of playtime.
It’s all about my mount and its camera behaviour (all those impulses and delays between my commands and its inertial movements, as was mentioned before) i believe.
I’ve never experienced “motion sickness” while playing a game, but I’m feeling a bit “off” when I use mounts.
And i’ve got real problems with it, not just ‘a bit off’, unfortunately.
Here’s my topic:
I had to uninstall Guild Wars 2 from my SSD because I ran out of space and now I’m trying to install it back on my HDD but when I click on the install button, I am NOT asked to chose the installation location and it de facto installs it on my SDD, even tho I downloaded the .EXE file on the HDD.
Please help ? Thank you
Try this:
Start the download, let it run for a little while just to get the gw2.exe and gw2.dat files built in the installation folder.
Take the installation folder which is normally in
C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2
and copy it to the desired harddrive location
D:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\
From that folder you can make a shortcut on the desktop which will start the launcher and download the rest of the gw2.dat directly to your D drive.

Hello, Anet.
As the title says i experience severe motion sickness every time i use my mount. There are two problems with your action camera (for ppl like me):
1. Inertia. Camera keeps moving when i stop my mount. That’s one of the best ways to trigger MS symptoms.
2. Positioning. The action cam rapidly changes my toon’s default position (which is in the lower third of the display for reasons: i should see as little BEHIND my characters when they’re moving as possible to avoid risks of feeling nauseous, because of how fast objects and textures in that particular area usually glimpse), which is not good for me (and other ppl with MS) at all. I attached a picture below (keep in mind that adjusting Vertical Position Far has no effect when you’re mounted). So actually here are two problems in one action.
Dear Anet, the game was literally unplayable (i mean it!) for me for a very long time (after i bought it in 2012) until you implemented a FoV slider.
Please, do something about it if you can.
Thank you.
Sry for my English.
Edit: i’m not talking about the standard Action Camera option (it’s disabled in my client), i just assume my problem’s caused by some action cam effects. I’m sorry if i call smth by a wrong name.
P. S. Here are two pictures with my char’s standard position vs that when mounted:

8 chapters in LWS2. Soon to be 6 in LWS3. 14 chapters total. 200 gems each. 2800 gems total, not counting any discounts at all.
Oh, thank you. For some reason i decided one should pay to unlock the basic HoT story separately. Silly me!
$120 a year to simply be allowed to logon and play your characters is greedy and dated.
Actually, without a discount now you would spend ~$120 for HoT and the locked story chapters.
$30 for HoT +$30 for all Living Story chapters = $120?
1. The keyphrase is ‘without a discount’.
2. How did you count the cost of all LS chapters? Last time i checked the full set cost 4000-5000 gems for a newcomer. Something has changed? Or am i mistaking?

you’re shifting the discussion without context here, I NEVER said wow had a smaller playerbase than gw2, I don’t discuss that, WoW has a larger playerbase.
The discussion was the money’s worth of content.
No! It’s not me, it’s you. I’m not saying i don’t like the game. What i said was ’you can get much more for your $10 in ptp games ’, maybe you should re-read the post i quoted when i entered this thread, i dunno.
did you forget to open it? it doesn’t show any parties until you actually select a tab
Oh, hun! Really? We can keep kidding each other, like ‘did you forget to log in to your WoW client… ?’, but that makes no sense. WoW, which has something ten times more active players than GW2, felt dead and empty to you. Ok, maybe. Let us just stop this funny off-topic chat right now.
I paid for expansion AND a subscription in WoW, but the expansions felt so dead and empty.
The lfg tool in gw2, that’s what feels ‘dead and empty’, dear sir. Unfortunately.
And in gw2 you get almost nothing? What? have you not been paying attention, you get for free: Raids, Living Story, Current Events, and in the last case, we got 5 maps, and a 6th map coming, for free
You’ll get almost nothing for 800 gold, imo. Those were my exact thoughts. Ok?
And btw if you need 5 or 6 new maps just to run through the same unworthy events with those wonderful greens and blues again, and again, and again ‘for free’, i see no problem with that: different ppl look for different rewards and have their own visions of a good content.
(edited by Nereikia.3507)
Why not just set up auto pay for $10/month and get 800 gems monthly? Same thing as to what you’re saying =/
But no! It’s not the same thing. In ‘ptp games’ (two healthy examples are WoW and FFxiv) you get a rewarding content for your 9-12 euros/dollars per month. And in GW2 you’ll get almost nothing. Not to mention that almost all in-game activities in GW2 are absurdly unrewarding for now. Anet makes more and more pay walls and time gates to encourage players to buy gems with real money (don’t get me wrong pls, i understand how FtP works, and i’m fine with that), but it doesn’t seem that many gw2players are very enthusiastic about this design at the present time (inc. myself: i’ve got an active subscription in ffxiv now, but i won’t buy gems in gw2, i think they’re overpriced, and you can feel free to call me cheap, i don’t mind, dear).
Long story short, you can buy an outfit or convert your 800 gems into gold (what cool stuff can you actually buy from TP for that amount of gold? it’s a rethorical question), but if you compare that to the rewards you can get in a ptp-game after a month of playtime, you’ll see the difference. And it’s huge. o/
P.S. Only wanted to mention that $10 can have a different value in another business model.
I’m sorry for my english.

How is it even possible to have these diverse and detailed faces for nearly every other race, but fail so hard at creating your basic human face?
Dear OP, the simple answer is: 3d-modelling is HARD, especially when it comes to real human’s anatomy.
I mean when there’s a humanoid with a cabbage or a pumpkin instead of a human’s head (say hi to those ‘arcimboldous’ Sylvari xD) or a cat-like creature, you call it ‘diverse and detailed faces’ and feel fine! BUT when you can see the difference between your own taste of human’s constitution (a face, in this case), or a beautiful 2d-concept and a picture 3d-artists managed to create, you get frustrated. It’s ok.
Furthermore, it takes years of practice to achieve some… umm… considerable skill at ‘real’ sculpting, and digital sculpting can be even more challenging (you not only sculpt and texture a model in some weird environment, you should follow strict rules). So, kitten happens. Students these days take some courses, finish a college and apply for a position in a game company, and then they should simultaneously lvl-up their skills and bring out a product of acceptable quality. It’s not an easy task, you know. Just take a look at ‘humans’ (or elves, or orcs, or whoever) in some other big gaming franchises like Warcraft or the Elder Scrolls. Their ‘faces’ are usually bad, too. That’s how the video game industry works, dear friend.
No offense meant, dear Anet! <3
P.S. Don’t forget about the ‘polygon budget’ and other limitations.
P.P.S. Sorry for my eng.

And how many other masteries would people go to say that they should have outright thus stripping any purpose or need in mastering masteries.
All of them please. I’m sick of leveling. I want to play the game.
You know, you dont have to play this game
I said I want to play the game, not that I have to. Is everything ok?
In the Middle Ages such a person would burn you at the stake, you know. But luckily nowadays fanatics can only use arguments like ‘you don’t have to’ or ‘you aren’t forced to’. So, if an innocent opinion of yours has triggered somebody on the forums to behave in a passive-agressive manner, you know the answer. =)

Stuns, knock downs, fears – unacceptable.
With all the HoT locations the game starts resembling some weird ‘simulator of immobility’ (a Steam user would say). I totally agree with you: it is unacceptable. Too many mobs with crazy amounts of CC [located in long&narrow places (roads, corridors, tunnels, bridges, etc.)]? — no, that doesn’t look like a promising adventure to me. It’s more like an unwanted sado-masochistic experience.
I can only hope that Anet introduced such design by mistake. The vanilla version is all about wide zones with a number of hidden/tricky/dangerous ‘sleeves’, and i’m absolutely in love with that design.
So,
Maybe they should try to make areas designed for multiple players (more and harder mobs) while leaving the main “roads” balanced for solo play.
— pretty much THIS.
Any news on the subject?
It works again! Woohooo!
