If you trait in Curses (Parasitic contagion) + Blood magic (Vampiric traits + Unholy Martyr), you get an insane amount of healing coming from all the condi damage you’re spamming. Coupled with Barrier, it’s far tankier than base Shroud.

That sounds good but the problem is that I want to play my Power Reaper, not condi Necro/Scourge. My Shroud got nerfed so Reaper is not fun atm. I understand that Scourge needs new traits but why nerf my Reaper? It would be better to have options for more builds so people could choose what they prefer but Anet forces these new specs on us by ruining old stuff. I find it unfair.

I agree Reaper needs some work after the latest patch.

But it baffles me how people start complaining after trying a new elite spec for 30 minutes, and always ask for buffs. And then, months later, the same people start complaining about powercreep.

Scourge does the job of providing necros with new options to play and be a bit group-oriented. And more importantly for me, it’s actually fun to play.

Scourge looks fine, just a bit of tuning needed here and there but it’s already fun and useful to play.

Utility skill “Stand your Grand” skill now gives 10seconds of Quickness (5 stacks of stability x 2sec quickness = 10sec quickness) to all allies!

Nah, SYG only give you 2s of quickness.
But that’s enough for perma quickness.

Nope, he’s right, it’s 10 flat seconds of Quickness (just tested it with Stand Your Ground, with a bit of concentration you easily reach 12+ seconds of quickness with just this utility).

A Compromise for Others Who Don't Want Mounts

It baffles me how somehow people don’t seem to get what mounts actually are in this game gameplay-wise.

Basically, mounts are zephyrite powers from dry top (the kind of powers the OP is requesting) mixed with a rather convenient perma-swiftness buff applied to your character. It’s pretty much that simple. It won’t be game breaking or whatever. And they fit IMHO in the new areas pretty well lore-wise.

I really don’t get what all this fuss is about.

Hi,

A friend of mine is currently stuck in the personal story progression on one of her characters.

She’s just finished the level 20 “Shadows of the Past” chapter – Circus path – “The Ringmaster”.
Yet, she didn’t get any rewards for this chapter. Her map still pin-points the RingMaster location but when she open the story recap, the text says she’s completed it.
She’s also got the personal story text updated and telling her to open my mail in order to begin the next chapter of the storyline : “Traitor to the Queen” which begins at level 30 (so she doesn’t have any incoming mails).

I was running as the leader of the instance and I’ve completed the story just fine, yet she is stuck inbetween chapters.

Any other player having the same issue ?

(edit : we’re playing on the 64 bit client).

Jeez! It’s just 20 HP if you already have world completion. Or just (maybe) 40 if you don’t. You’re most likely going to get all of them in a single day, or in two to three days at most if you’re the “rushing” type.
You’re not going to get your elite spec instantly, and that’s totally fine, deal with it! And then you’re the same people that complain about lack of progression!

This community is so incredibly spoiled beyond belief.

Yeah, and now we’ll see huge zergs rushing through HP without caring about anything the new maps bring, just to unlock this spec, as you said, two or three days later. As if two or three days of HP farm-fest is going to provide players with a progression feeling.

This decision is a lazy one. You either gate content behind heavy-content stuff, or you give it to the players for “free” (considering players have to buy the xpac first). But you don’t lock it behind a system players will rush through in 24 hours. I mean, it isn’t hard to go to a point and hit “F” on your keyboard 40 times. It just annoys everyone who has tons of rerolls, newcomers who bought the xpac, and players who were expecting to play Revenant. And trust me, they won’t care about this “progression feeling” at all.

Most of you are throwing nonsensical hyperboles such as “just going to a point and press F”. A lazy decision? What/how do you even know how are these hero points going to be obtained? If you don’t like some of the hero challenges, or you don’t find them fun, you’re welcomed to come here to the forums and suggest alternatives, but these flat statements (before relase even!) have little to no contribution

—>

But to me, you went the lazy way about it by tying it to Hero Points. You could have tied it to the personal story-line, so players could unlock their new powers as the story unfolds and Destiny’s Edge 1.0/2.0 unlocks it too. That would have been a nice addition to content.

There you go. You’re welcome.

That is a good point. This isn’t “fun” progression. This is progression for progression’s sake, and that is ALWAYS a bad design choice. What purpose does this serve? It doesn’t sound like it will take a very long time to unlock, nor does it sound like fun to unlock it. It isn’t like I have a choice in whether I need to unlock these or not. You have to, especially if you want to have build diversity or access to your class’ new weapon. You can’t sit there and call something an “elite” specialization and unnecessary at the same time.

Thank you for putting different words on my ideas, sounds much better as you explained it

By the time I’ve fully explored the HoT content I might even have enough hero points to unlock the new specialisation. I hope the next expansion comes out soon so I might get the chance to use it during in-game content.

This, so much this.
Proves how illogical this decision is.

Proves you like drama and over the top statements, not a lot else.

No need to get personal just because I don’t share your opinion. That’s a narrow-minded judgement.

I’m really disappointed with this decision.

I do get why you’re locking specializations behind hero points. You probably want players to have this sense of progession as they slowly unlock their specialization.
And that’s fine.

But to me, you went the lazy way about it by tying it to Hero Points. You could have tied it to the personal story-line, so players could unlock their new powers as the story unfolds and Destiny’s Edge 1.0/2.0 unlocks it too. That would have been a nice addition to content.

Or you could have sticked to what happened in the beta, giving access to specializations as soon as we step into the jungle, which would have been fine because we will eventually get the spec through HP grinding.

But since you made this decision, now every player willing to use their elite is going to rush through the amazing maps and events just to get enough HP in order to actually start playing the expansion.

And don’t get me wrong on this, I’m not saying the specialization is the only viable spec to grind through the jungle. I’m saying that it is basically the most game-changing feature of the expansion, and people were expecting to play those specs through the new content, not to grind again some HP to start enjoying them.

Please don't lock Mordremoth behind a raid

Neva Eilhart.5347

Dearest Anet,

As a fervent player of your game, I’m really excited about what the expansion has to offer and all your announcements.

Still, I’m fearing that like in other MMOs, raiding might leave a large portion of the community behind.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m honestly glad hardcore content is coming for players who want to experience this kind of stuff ; I myself loved raiding back in the days. It’s totally fine if those players get their hands on great stuff (especially since in Gw2 it’s mostly aesthetics, achievements and titles).

But what I fear is that a whole portion of the storyline will be locked behind raids. I don’t want to get into the Maguuma jungle and really get involved into the story, if the most important bits of it are only unlocked by doing 10 man instances. Who hasn’t already played a MMO, doing all the side quests of an area, getting really involved into the story, only to discover that to enjoy its conclusion, you had to go through a time-consuming horribly-repetitive raid content ?

In the core game, you managed to get around this problem by providing a personal storyline and a story mode for dungeons, which allowed more casual oriented players to actually enjoy the story without having to get through difficult and time consuming content.

Since I think it’s quite obvious there can’t be a “story mode raid”, I hope all the important events will be happening in the living world. Especially the potential fight against Mordremoth. Please leave all the story elements in the living world.

I’m not playing thief, but I don’t think we can compare this class to any other.

Stealth is an important mechanism for thief damage, and it might be broken in some fights, but let’s not forget it’s also a defensive mechanism. If a thief gets revealed because of blind or aegis, he’ll get punished in the next few seconds.

Can you say that about a zerk warrior missing a F1 shot ?

Thieves don’t have the boons the engis got, don’t have the overall ranged weapons and survival skills the rangers got. If you strip them off the stealth mechanism, they’re pretty much naked.

So I understand it’s not an easy decision to make for Anet. It’s not all about damage.

Just a few minutes ago my whole 5-players team got disconnected during the battle of Khylo at the exact same moment ; which I guess is a bug on your side since we all played in unranked arenas and weren’t in a premade group (and so we all had different ISP).

HoT Map Events - Looting system

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Neva Eilhart.5347

Neva Eilhart.5347

This thread is mainly to discuss the new looting system implemented with the Silverwastes map, which I hope will find its way again in the new extension maps.

What I really like about the design of Silverwastes is that you don’t have to actually hit everything around you to get loot. You get a chest at the end of the event you completed, and that’s it.

Unlike in Orr, when you don’t get that much rewards when you’re not spamming huge aoes (if you have the time to do so before every foe is dead…), in SW you can actually play the way you want, and focus on the events rather than trash-tagging. You can run the build you want, wield the weapon you want without worrying about its aoe/dps capability. Players can take some time to revive friends, cast healing spells or run specific objectives instead of dpsing to get loot.

Which is a huge improvement, in my opinion, on the way the game works and players are helping each other.

So, I’d really like this loot system to be extended to the new maps. And I’d like to know if it is a part of what Anet is planning for Heart of Thorns. (I’d even like it to be implemented in all maps, but that’s another story…)

Look at how fun those events were back in the days. How long and hard it could be to achieve this kind of event.

And now you’ve got a whole bunch of 80 oneshoting mobs everywhere in QD – in all low level areas in fact – to get some cheap loot.

I think Anet should make downscaling harder on players coming to lower areas. It isn’t fun when you’re playing a low level alt and you can’t even have the time to tag any mob on a event – even a champion, just because you’ve got max level characters zerging around and killing everything. The QD train is just the tip of the iceberg.

In my opinion this is the kind of feature that deserves a massive thank you from the community.

I’d like to remember folks that in other MMOs, you do have a subscription fee, yet if you want to get a skin on two different characters from the cash shop, you’ll have to pay the price twice.

Here, not only we don’t feed Anet with 13$ a month, but they’re also making account wide all sort of stuff from the cash shop, so that you only have to pay once (e.g dyes and armor skins)

I don’t know if people are cynical about this change being some way for them to steal money from us, but I’m really feeling sad about those people. Because in years of playing, this is one of the most user-friendly game (and company in extenso) I’ve ever played.

So thank you all at Arena Net for such a wonderful and bold move.

Totally agree with you, OP.

I feel the exact same way. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy everyone can get their hands on those beautiful skins, especially those who couldn’t play the game back when the chests were available.

But as someone who spent gold and real money to get those skins, I feel like Anet has lied to me. Because when I bought those chests, it was clearly advertised by Anet that the skins would be available only for a short period of time.

If I knew back then that those skins could be bought off the TP months later, I definitely wouldn’t have spent so much money on this. I wouldn’t have felt the “gambling pressure” of not getting the skins I wanted in the time frame Anet clearly advertised, thus missing the opportunity to get the skins forever.

Clearly, knowing it would be available on TP (even years after) would have changed my behavior as a customer.

So, while I’m glad everyone can now get their hands on those skins, I’m definitely not happy with the position Anet has regarding the customers who bought their chests.

Meta Event Name: Temple of Balthazar – Southern Invasion of Orr

Name of stuck Dynamic Event: Orr south invasion.

Objective text for the stuck event: the escort npcs we must help getting to the Pact rally point are not spawning anymore.

Date when you encountered the block : 9/9/12, still stuck but on a different stage.

Additional Details :

The south invasion has been stuck both yesterday and the day before. Today it started working again and we ended up fighting against some Balthazar Priest. Though, we did not make it. Shortly after that, the two other invasion forces (north and center) made it to the Pact rally point in Orr.

Since those invasions events have been finished, the south one won’t work anymore and is stuck again. As Radu has said in the previous post, we’ve managed to take the Lone Post but no npc would spawn then. The event chain is stuck and the Lone post gets attacked from times to times. Even when trying to lose it in order to reset things, the npcs we need to escort to the Pact rally point won’t spawn. The cycle repeats over and over again.
