Step 1: Anet Announce mega servers.
Step 2: Players voice concerns that are legitimate to their style of play. RP/PVE/PVP/Commuity.
Step 3: Anet Claim this won’t be a problem and that match making is intelligent.
Step 4: Players ask for mega servers not to be in Cities and Boss areas.
Step 5: Anet decides to roll it out in quiet areas.
Step 6: Players test mega servers and voice concerns.
Step 7: Anet ignores all concern, problemss and requests up to this time and rolls it out anyway in boss areas in cities. Guilds can’t rally, RPers get trolled, Guild Bounties get griefed, community groups break down.
Possible Step 8: RPers go back to wow, aeon, FF and Rift to spend their money, PVEers move to ESO where the Mega Servers are done better.
I feel bad for Chauncey von Snuffles III. >:
- Ugly as sin potions of town clothes with no customization anymore. (How is this better?)
- Glasses on all chars in pve gear is nice but I am really angry about my 4 winter clothes outfits which I used to use as beautiful dresses. (Now with ugly hats and no colour choices)
- Transmuting costs more for low level characters.
- 1 unidentified dye =/= 2 pyre dyes.
Log in your other alts and they’ll be added to your dye list.
Anet I must be honest, I am very very happy that I can use glasses on my armor sets. That’s great… But your model changes for the rest of town clothing seem like you’re trying to make the feature worse than it already was.
Positives (psst there’s few).
- Removing the town-clothing slot removes it’s position in the wardrobe, ok that’s a positive.
- You can fight in town clothing now. Sure that’s good too.
Negatives:
Town-clothes being potions all together.
-Outfits un-dyeable.
-Cant mix and match.
-Cant remove ugly helmets.
-I no longer have an outfit for the beach. (This is serious)
-It adds absolutely no functionality and in fact has less than it already did.
-Seriously cargo shorts with boots? What are you thinking?
-I am seriously considering requesting refunds for all four of my winter outfits, I bought them to mix and match the coat but now that option is gone.
I am a ‘casual’ and I still understand where you are coming from. People who take the game seriously should be supported and pushed together because they are the bulk of the permanent playerbase. This would help RP guilds and PVP guilds find each other too.
Removing archaic leveling systems from mmos would be more fun
Hello!
Here’s some clarification, as I understand that this whole thing is quite complicated to grasp.
- The roll-out plan ultimately include all maps in the open world, including the cities. The speed at which we’ll roll out the system will depends on how the system performs versus our expectations, but the goal is to ultimately cover the whole open world.
- The roll-out is done on a per-map basis. Once a map uses the MegaServer system, it uses it for all Worlds (that is the point of the MegaServer system). The “map population” I am referring to is the average population on the map across all Worlds.
Thanks for your comments!
— SamuelWith do respect, what’s the point of this ‘update’? I don’t think anyone’s complaints, concerns or issues with the megaserver system has to do with the speed by at which it’s being rolled out. Whether you do it fast or slow, it’s not going to resolve issues like those people have brought up about schedules or problems with communities.
I mean, it’s not even approaching addressing those issues. At all.
It’s the ‘make you like it plan’
Do it slowly in order to make the people who don’t want it enough to talk about it ‘comfortable’ with it in order to stop them from complaining.
3 years later assimilate the world.
The Australian Government tried to do this with Daylight Saving. They failed.
I am still of the belief that low pop cities should be merged not ‘mega servered’. In fact I hope that cities will not be touched at all.
The problem with the algorithm?
Not all RPers are on RP servers. (They just guest)
Not all RPers are in RP guilds.
Not all people add Rpers to friends lists.
New players are going to struggle to get INTO the RP scene.
I will miss them. I remember my first one
Scheduling times for bosses seems to hurt people a lot at this stage. I cant attend most of the already scheduled bosses because of bad time decisions.
The non-Rper player base has made it very clear to tell us we’re unimportant and that their needs should be catered to. The same group of people who dismiss those who fight world bosses.
Casual Boss Hunters and RPers pay for the game too. In fact I am sure one Rper buys twice as much cosmetic items as an average ‘end gamer’. And a populated area =/= better gameplay. Some people deliberately choose low populated areas so they can do content in peace, have a less lagged environment, more challenging playstyle and game with people they’ll likely see again in that area (The latter of which is less likely to happen). Jumbleing people up may make the world seem fuller but what will it actually do for people? Popular World Events will remain popular, Quiet world events will hit max scaleing and lose difficulty (though some people will think free rides are good.) and any person you play with you will unlikely see again unless you make the distinct effort to add them to your friends list the first time you see them.
You can’t just discount the community sectors of an MMO, why? Because the community sectors of an mmo are the bonds that make MMOs more than a single player game with other people in the background. Saying these people are ‘not primary’ or ‘unimportant’ is usually a sign of someone who isn’t apart of those areas and would likely feel violated if they were the ones on the receiving end of the game breaking change for them.
They’ve had 3 blog posts to be honest and havn’t really commented on any of the panic that people are having. While I am sure they are formulating something to explain what’s going on for stressed people. I think at this stage a vote of reassurance would be nice for those who are afraid to lose their community.
I never suggested a tagging system, to be honest I would just appreciate cities not to be included in this ‘mega realm thing’. Also I am not of the pessimist party (thanks for that). However I would like my opinions on pessimist outcomes to be heard before those outcomes may come to pass..(Then I can dance around yelling how I told you so.) I am aware there is no suggestion guesting is being removed, however guesting could become inconsequential and not be including in the algorithm of where you are dumped.
Boss events are going to be put on stable timers between instances meaning it’ll all happen at once whether people want it or not.
Also waypoints make stalking as a griefer kinda hard.
If you don’t want a barren wasteland as a community there are other ways to do it.
Blizzard added connected realms: Placing two realms of the same kind together in one group. Meaning all the PVPers of one server were put together with the other PVPers of another server and all the RPers were put with their own kind too. Much better.
I am going to say this now. RPers don’t just RP.
Some of us:
PVP, WVW, PVE and many of us are in both RP guilds and other guilds.
Also: Not all RPers fit into one guild. There is a much larger player base than that. Even if we were in a max sized guild of roleplayers we’d still be all separated based on that premise. RP is based on random encounters 90% of the time. It’s like a pug where you have no que and no way to identify people also wishing to RP.
Trust me. Griefers are the least of our troubles.
Australia:
7am: Karka Queen
8am: Tequatl
9am: Junglewurm.
Oceanic/American merged servers ftw.
A really hope anet come to their senses and cancel the mega-server before there’s a mass migration back to WoW, Aeon, Rift and Final Fantasy 14.
It will affect the people who guest over to RP realms if they’re stuck back on their own realm based on their guild or friends.
No I don’t like the mega server. It’s going to be terrible for event meet ups and for RP.
GW2 are verging on the loss of player base that SWG is known for. Wrecklessly impacting communities, large group meet ups, server events (halloween bashes, machinima meet ups), RP.
I was fine with most of the changes (not how much a transmog crystal is going to cost)
But I feel it’s going to damage most of my reason to log in the game. The RP. The one content that I know a lot of people only play for.

Some nice hooded priestly robes would be nice… Oh and some nice big cloth shoulders.
I would totally be up or the grim reaper for necroes and a lab coat for engies
While my approximation is not entirely accurate. If you’re selecting a server, are in a guild of that server and have friends from that server and the area is made up from people of that server (give or take the odd stray). Technically it’s that server’s area and my estimate would likely prove true still. People seem to believe this is going to be all randomly jumbled with selections and choices having no bearing on what’s going on. While I believe this system is not entirely thought out and that Anet could have considered the mega server a lot more before making decisions I doubt RPers will be tossed from realm to realm while looking for one another.
I saw it as:
So there’s three servers. (Server a), (server b)(server c). and (server d)
(Server A) (Area A) Is full and needs to go into overflow but (Server b) (Area A) Has very few people in it. Instead of creating a new random overflow (area b), the spill over from (Server A) will go into (Server b)(area A). (Server C) is also in overflow and will go into the also nearly empty (server d). However John Doe is on (Server C) but often guests onto (Server A) and has friends and guild mates in that area. So instead of overflowing into (Server d) John Doe overflows into (Server b) to be better matched with the people he knows.

I doubt the devs are going to say anything, there’s not much that can be said to satisfy people without live testing it first. There is a few anet members on Tarnished Coast indeed (I saw one today) but they can’t really put their personal feelings before benefiting the game.
Regardless I am beginning to feel this won’t be as bad as everyone thinks it is. I am a little nervous of losing people in the community but I haven’t seen any word that they aren’t going to give people ways to guest on other servers with mega servers enabled.
At this stage I recommend patience rather than whining in distress about something that hasn’t even happened yet.
I think the races we do have are fine and I’d rather instead customisation pack for the races we do have (New hair, faces, colours, beards and body types) all in one go. Frankly what I’d want most is a new class to play, it’d take a lot less personal story integration and more game-play options.
Don’t be a sad quaggan
10+ man parties would solve almost all the problems.
I am fairly certain there are some tools/weapons that don’t use conditions. It should depend on your skills and traits. The conditions have never bothered me because I enjoy juggling turrets and healing moreso than the damage portion so I may be biased. If you wish to do everything I suggest the engineer or you could try mesmer or guardian.
I recommend engineer. They’re very versatile and have their own mortar canons and utilities that mean you can pick how you play. They’re also great at soloing champions and bosses if you need it even if they’re not necessarily always top on the damage meter.
@Star Ace
I think you are misunderstanding. Most of us (at least I am) are worried about losing the RP communities by all the players being flung to various servers against their will and receiving people who don’t really care for us in their place. I would welcome new people on my server who wish to RP on our server as long as their aren’t pushing out other people. I am sure this could be said for people who wish to do World Bosses and the Such not wishing their place in a ‘sure thing’ Tequatl kill to be taken by a casual who is just there because they happened to be bored at the time.
I dont know if this has been asked yet but it’s a 12 page long thread. Will we be able to force ourselves back onto our main server if we want to? If I am on JQ for a boss and I end up on Tarnished Coast for example. Will I be able to say ‘No I don’t wish to be on tarnished coast, I want to be on my main server’ and move myself back to an overflow or something similar.
Allowing RPers the single facility to play as they wish wouldn’t be a crime. I’d like a way to find other RPers if I have to have a whole new pool of people who don’t RP to fight through as a consistent basis. I wouldn’t mind -something- to make sure we’re all still together and not just luck because your guild happens to do other things too.
Please do not apply Megaservers to cities…
When most games apply features like this, they generally avoid capital cities. This is usually for a wide amount of reasons and having a mixed populace in those areas will unlikely enhance anyone’s game play, but instead may have more of a negative impact over established server communities. If these features can’t be withheld, I would like to request an option to remain on your main server for cities.
- Cities are usually the main hubs of a server population. You can get to know the people who are on your realm while hanging there. A stable community on a realm’s city makes it easier to make friends in hangout areas such as banks or trading posts. A large mix of people will make it a lot harder, sure you will be exposed to more people however a person has only a 200 person limit to how many people they know at one period of time. Having mega-servers apply to cities will do the exact opposite, if you don’t see the same person twice out of chance you may not necessarily become friends with them or get to know them if ‘john do’ was given their space in town instead one day.
- Unless there is an event such as ‘Attack on Lion’s arch’ going on, it is unlikely there will be any grouping for content going on, or world bosses in cities. Therefore a wider pool of people is necessary and only adds to population problems.
- There is already a post on this, but mega realms in cities will affect roleplay. Roleplay usually happens in capital cities and those people do not wish for their realm to be diluted by people who don’t even need or want to be there. While most of these people will group up while leaving cities, they generally go to the city for random RP.
- People who join a realm for certain reason when just starting to play the game could be flung all over the place when they don’t have new friends or a guild yet. They could think a certain community doesn’t exist because they become planted on the wrong realm.
- Some realms get a lot of overflow however the people on them don’t wish to be kicked off their realm for another in it’s stead. Some people don’t wish to be considered strays should they log in at a wrong hour.

I had a similar issue a few days ago where an item disappeared during a server lag burst. I think something seems to happen to item transferal during these times.
All problems have been resolved. Thank you for advice given.

I already had an agent speak to me. Their response was why I have complaint. It is not the time I am complaining about.
The new one is a complaint. The old one is a request. They are separate issues on the same subject and I am not wanting my complaint to go to the same people who were dismissive of me.
Sending a ticket, this post is no longer needed.

Tickets for Review (3 days and older) [merged]

Posted by: Nexxius.6017
Hello I submitted a ticket (( ticket no. 341028 )) 3/4 days ago concerning an item (Quivver from the gem store) that suddenly disapeared from my inventory after a lag burst without a deletion prompt. I gave the details of my character and the only response I can find in my email is the automated one you get after you send a ticket (More details can be found in my support ticket..). If you are requiring more information on how it happened I am happy to talk to you about it, I’d simply appreciate the acknowledgement that it is under review as I have been extremely happy with the support you have all given me over my other 2 tickets. This item is one of my favourites for Roleplay.
