Outfits? No thanks.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

NickChabby.8907

Sigh… You really had to make another “outfits no thanks” thread?

Here’s what will happen:
- OP explains how they like the outfit(s) in the gemstore but would want to mix and match so they won’t buy it
- some people come to explain how they would NEVER buy an outfit because of principles
- others will explain how outfits are ok because you can wear them on any class, change without transmutation, etc.
- people will claim they’d pay thousands of gems just to be able to mix and match certain parts of a certain outfit
- they’ll come up with ideas how to solve the “problem”… release both outfit and armor set, give parts a toggle (show/hide), etc.
- the thread moves to the second page and is buried
- anet brings another nice-looking outfit…
repeat.

ROFL! You sir, made me log in just to quote this, because it’s very accurate.

I’d like to add though that Anet is probably saving tons of armors for HoT. Outfits ask for less development time, so it’s easier for them to make those, right now, and earn money in return to help the production of HoT with which we will likely get tons of new gears.

Can we have a proper management of the maps?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: NickChabby.8907

NickChabby.8907

… Please?

Just tonight I was trying to join an organized labyrinth map. 90% of the time when I was trying to join a group through the LFG tool, either my joining attempt was suddenly canceled out of the blue, or when I finally managed to join a group, the members were on a full map.

Which resulted in me trying for at least 10 time. The result? I couldn’t use the LFG tool anymore (“too many attempts”) AND I was still stuck on an empty map. In the meantime my boosters were being wasted.

I don’t understand. We could choose our map in Guild Wars 1. How come the map management is still clunky?

Thank you!

Allow us to download gw2.dat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

NickChabby.8907

Everything is in the title.

We shouldn’t have to download a 20 gb file everytime something goes wrong with our computer, forcing us to start clean. My internet connection won’t take that and I can’t imagine new players joining. During beta, the file was just 12 gb. It’s now above 20.

So, my suggestions:

1- Allow us to download an up-to-date gw2.dat file in two .rar parts or something

2- Update your gw2 installer or something

This is just ridiculous, the game keeps getting bigger with every update. It will eventually become a nightmare for new players.

Thank you.

NickChabby.8907

I didnt buy gw2 for a challenge… thats not what I read the advertisement of it to be. If I wanted to challenge I’d pick a different game. (and thats exactly what most hardcore players do.)

See, that’s where players complaining about Liadri fail to acknowledge. It’s not your game, it’s not all about you.

Okay, you have a disability, I’m sorry to hear that. On the other hand, a MMO needs to have a variety of elements to please a wide range of players, from grinding content, to jumping puzzles, to challenging bosses. Like an amusement park: different activities for all taste.

What you ask for is the equivalent to have a bypass in jumping puzzles because you have a disability. Or a bypass in a meta achievement because you’re not a hardcore player. Truth is: it won’t happen. You have to accept not everything is meant for you.
Plus, Liadri is not even 1% of the game. It’s not because there is one challenging element for an audience different than yours it’s bad advertising.

And the incapacity of most players to just accept it’s not meant for them is the source of the rage. Too much pride? Unhealthy stubbornness? I don’t know, but it’s clear that some of you try harder than they should. I long ago understood I wasn’t geared/skilled enough to do high level fractals. Did I ask for a nerf? No. It just meant it wasn’t for me. I did things I enjoyed instead.

For God’s sake, deal with it, stop doing something that makes you rage, do things you enjoy!. And I mean it. Complaining, whining that something is too hard, insisting on a nerf because you didn’t have your candy is just beyond ridiculous and yes, I know, you have a disability, and if so, do things adapted to you. It’s like if someone was in wheelchair and was complaining he can’t participate in a marathon. It’s sad, but it’s life and they have to either find workarounds or do something more adapted to them.

That’s how it works.

PS: I would have loved to see most of you try last year at the last gauntlet, when AOE were barely visible, when there was camera issues with the ceiling, when it cost gold to repair the armor and when changing your traits/builds also cost money. You’re in no position to complain this year after all these change. Not at all.

NickChabby.8907

Okay so, if I follow you correctly:

- Because you can’t beat a boss aimed for hardcore players, you ask for it to be nerfed to your need. You want the entire staff to change something appreciated by many like this for your own desire. You want to punish the people loving challenge and hard bosses because you don’t have the skills to do it otherwise.

It doesn’t work like that. Life doesn’t work like that neither. She’s exactly the same as last year, which implies strongly that Anet doesn’t intend to change her.

Even better: we now have Ascended weapons and armors, something we didn’t have last year when she first appeared. The AOE are even more visible and we don’t have any camera issues caused by the dome anymore.

During the first gauntlet, I’ve beaten her (after +80 tickets and 50 gold lol) in exotic, in half soldier/berserker. I had a bad time (worst of my GW2 time in fact, the rage, oh gawd), but it ended being possible and when it happened, it felt so rewarding. I’ve tried again this year in full berserker, with ascended weapons and ascended trinket and she ended being way easier this time around.

The Gauntlet asks for you to change your playstyle to overcome the challenge. Traits are free to change now, so is armor repair. Find a new combination, try new armors, new weapons. There are tons of guides out there. If you really can’t do it, I think it would be better for your own sanity to accept the defeat and move on. Raging and crying for a nerf will just make you look like a spoiled child.

Good luck.

TL;DR: No, she’s made for hardcore players. She’s meant to be hard. The rewards is meant to be rewarding. Deal with it.

Jerky sound with new graphic card?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: NickChabby.8907

NickChabby.8907

First, thanks all for all your advices/opinions. I really appreciate that since I’ve been really in the unknown about what was going on.

I might try Darth Llama’s solution and try one piece at the time. Before I do though, I bring in an update:

The common denominator in the 2 games you’re having problems with is that they’re both online games.

I thought the same, since the probleme was, up to now, isolated to online games, but after buying a recent release on Steam (DreadOut), a single player horror game, this theory went to garbage: it also suffers from this glitch, aka lag and sound issues.

also, how long have you been using this same PSU ? And how did your 8800 came to its end ?

I’ve been using this PSU for (deep breath) five years. It’s very old, but it still works I guess since I can still run most of the things on my computer, minus three problematic games.

As for my 8800’s death… After playing all day on a 2D MMO (all fine), I wanted to play a little bit of Tomb Raider 2013 before going to bed. It didn’t take 5 seconds into the game that everything froze, forcing me to restart the computer. Same process repeated 3 time until the Bios starts being all crazy with “!” everywhere, colored flash/squares everywhere… And I couldn’t reach the Desktop at all except in Safe Mode.

Ever since I changed my card, it’s back to normal, except for this issue.

First, thanks for the replies.

I would highly advise updating the rest of your hardware as soon as you can because while you may be able to play without issue (other than the jerky sound) currently, the issue could get far worse the longer you play with this configuration as your GPU is now overpowering the rest of your system and could cause hardware issues for you in the long run.

So, if I understand correctly, in a nutshell, my new graphic card is too powerful for what my PC can handle and it can causes issue in the long run?

It’s not that I don’t belive you, it’s just odd. Also no, unfortunately, I can’t play at all, I get lags regardless of the graphic settings and the sound is affected by it.

It wasn’t like that before with a weaker card. I mean yeah, I could get lag, but the sound remained constant and the amount of lag could be reduced with the graphic settings. Now it’s just lag and horrible sound whatever I do. It’s just weird that:
- My PC and a Weaker card could do the job properly before, the same PC with a better card cannot anymore

It’s now almost unplayable, the minute I turn the camera it lags/calculates and the sound become jerky.

So the source could come from the fact my card is too good for my motherboard? If so, is there nothing I can do beside upgrading everything else? Because GW2 (and another online old 2d game, Ultima Online) are the only games suffering from the change of card, everything else is now better.

Because, well, I don’t have the money for that right now, upgrading everything would take time I can’t really give neither and it’s just kind of odd that it would happen because my card is too good for my PC. :s

Thanks!

As far as maxing Tomb Raider, you will need a better card for that one, 1GB vram isn’t enough unless you drop settings to Low :/

No I meant: I can now run Tomb Raider to max with this card, so I’m surprised I’m having issues with GW2.

I could run GW2 perfectly (no sound problem) with a 512 mb card. I even tried with a 2gb card: same issue. So I just don’t know what’s wrong now.

Edit: Okay, GW2 is not an isolated case, I tried to play another online game (Ultima Online) on a private server and I was experiencing the same thing… I have even less clue now.

My first thought is that motherboard does not support PCI Express 3.0, it operates on a much older version, this could affect the potential processing power of the card as it cannot communicate fast enough between the game and hardware.

That’s what I thought too, but this card is definitely compatible with my motherboard. GW2 is the only game having issues with my new graphic card, since I can actually push Tomb Raider 2013 to ultra settings with TressFX and no lag (something I couldn’t do before).

My other thought is it not getting enough power, what is the PSU rated for?

My powersupply : http://i.imgur.com/7RWlGZC.jpg

Also what do you mean by “connected directly to the power supply”? How is it connected now?

My old card had some wires connected directly in some kind of port at the back of my card, along with it being inserted in the PCI thingie. The new card (the EVGA) doesn’t seem to have any place for the powersupply to connect to, it justs had the monitor port and the PCI “teeth” to be inserted (sorry for my awkward way of describing things lol).

Nevertheless, it runs well on my other games, so I assumed it was normal.

Hello.

1. System specs
Old card: NVIDIA Geforce 8800 GT
(http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-8800-gt/specifications)

New Card: EVGA Geforce GTX 750
(http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=01G-P4-2751-KR)

Intel® Core™ 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz

Motherboard:
http://us.msi.com/product/mb/G31TMP21.html#/?div=Basic

2. The issue

Until recently, I’ve been playing the game with my Geforce 8800 GT. Some lags there and there sometime, but the game ran pretty smoothly. No sound issue neither. I had lags mostly when the screen was crowded with players and such. All good, though it was a weak card.

But it died. Therefore I’ve bought a new one. Some people recommended the Geforce GTX750 1gb. It’s supposed to be twice the strenght of my first card. In theory yes, it is, and judging by its informations, it’s supposed to be.

Yet ever since I changed my card (with up to date drivers), everytime I play the game, it lags more than before regardless of the graphic settings I input. Even worse: the sound and music are now affected by the lag. It’s jerky and annoying and I don’t know how to repair that.

I’m supposed to have a stronger card. My PC has proven to be able to run the game in the past with a weaker card. Why is this happening?

Oh and it’s important to know that my old Geforce 8800 GT was connected directly to the Power Supply. But it can’t be just that, can it?

Thank you!

Then explain to me what these mean:
“Single items, such as the Fuzzy Hats and Scarlet’s Spaulders, will be unlocked for your entire account and usable with any armor weight.

“Most pieces sold separately, such as the Fuzzy Animal Hats or Phantom Hood, will become armor skins for the appropriate slot, usable by a character that wears armor of any type.”

It means what it means.

Any town clothes set (chef/pirate/mad king/witch/winter) will become a whole united set toggleable, which will cover the armor.

Every hats (sold separately from a town clothe set), like the Phantom Hood, the reading glasses or the fuzzy hats, will become an armor helm skin.

The rest (aetherblade armors, phoenix set, Scarlet’s spaulders) will remain what they are presently: armor skin

The question is: If you hide the helm of a town clothes, will the armor helm show? Why wouldn’t it show?

Screenshot:
http://cdn.pcgamesn.com/sites/default/files/gw2wardrobe.jpg

Judging by it, no, it won’t show your armor helm. You hide the outfit helm by unchecking the little box on the helm icon. In theory it would hide the helm of both set.

Edit: You could wear different headgears with different outfits in GW1.

… I know. I’m a GW1 veteran. My system would allow this. I won’t repeat for a fourth time, I’ve made myself clear enough.

But your system will have to adapt to the glitches that are caused from mixing and matching extraordinarily amazingly, then fuse them together in a non-clipping way.

Not really. It will just take the town clothes system we have now, and make it cover the armor. There wouldn’t be more glitches than what we have at the moment with the town clothes: not many.

@NickChabby: I like that it goes over armor like in GW1. Your system removes that. Your system, in order for them to work in combat requires them to be converted to armor sets. Your system will take that option away.

Facepalm Noooooooooo -_-"

You really haven’t read a single word about the outfit system. Go read right now: https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/45944258-Town-Clothes

They don’t need to be converted to anything. The outfit system that will be implemented on April 15th cover the armor, all at once.
No, you can’t wear a different headgear with the whole outfit set. If you wear the pirate outfit, you’ll have to:
A- Either wear the pirate hat
Or
B- Hide the pirate hat

But no, you won’t be able to wear the witch hat with the pirate costume NOR wear reading glasses with. It’s the whole set all at once. It’s either all the pirate/witch/madking/any outfight you bought or nothing.

Secondly, look at this picture:
http://cdn.pcgamesn.com/sites/default/files/gw2wardrobe.jpg

Next to the helm, you see a little square you can check. This is the outfit system. You put something in there and it covers your whole armor.

What I am suggesting (for the third time….)

Put a case like on the screenshot next to each armor parts.
- Don’t allow the outfits to appear until all case are filled
- Allow the player, when choosing a town clothes headgear skin, to choose to be converted to outfit or armor.

That way:

- The outfit STILL COVER THE ARMOR
- It PREVENTS the armor glitches Devs are unable to correct
- Will allow to wear different headgears with different “outfit coat” and “outfit legging”, which is a step ahead of GW1
- Will still allow to wear town clothe headgears with your normal armor
- Will allow to mix-match.

You could have tried something funny that didn’t ruin RP for your community.

Oh jeez, you’re lucky to not have played GW1 then. April Fool is a tradition for Anet.

Guild Wars 1
2007: Gender reversal
2008: Players transformed into stick figures
2009: everybody transformed into a chibby version of Gwen
2010, player’s size changed to miniatures and miniatures to player size

From 2011 to 2013 and onward, there is a playable Terminator-like quest with a soldier from the future available in a zone. Nothing major affected.

As you can see, it could have been worse to your immersion. It’s Anet’s way of celebrating the day. It’s a shame if you can’t handle it.

NickChabby.8907

But I wouldn’t be happy with that. I’d like to wear both the armor and the town clothes like in GW1 and like they’re going to do. And I would also like to fight in town clothes. You are already forced to choose with one or the other So yes, I would be unhappy with your solution.

You… Obviously didn’t understand the whole point of the outfit system.

First, in GW1, you couldn’t mix-match “outfits” with armors. It was a whole set. You could only wear a different head gear (on that matter, GW2 is a step back since you won’t be able to wear a different headgear, only hide it).

Secondly, no, the feature patch will allow us to fight in town clothes. The town clothes will cover entirely your armor just like GW1. Read again the FAQ. They’ll be a whole united set appearing all at once.

Thirdly, it’s technically impossible (the Dev explained why) to mix town clothes with armors at the moment. They can’t. Because of that, they made the town clothes a whole set toggleable. You’ll wear either your armor (mixed with town clothes head gear) or a whole outfit set. Not both. You might ask to mix town clothes with your armor, but it’s impossible. It’s sad, but you’ll have to deal with it.

The solution to point 3. is to use the same system, as in having town clothes covering the armor, but instead of having one case for the whole set, put case for each armor parts. If we activate the outfit, it activate all the separated parts at once. Using the upcoming outfit system, they’ll act like they’re supposed to: they’ll cover the armor and be useable in combat. The only difference is that now we would be allowed to mix-match outfit parts altogether. That way, it prevents the horrible technical idea of having “town clothes” mixed with “armor parts” and still allow us to mix-match town clothes altogether, which is what the fuss is about.

Obviously, it’s not a perfect idea, but it’s better than … what we will have in term of town clothes.

Okay so I’ve read the words from Anet that it would be an impossibility to mix-match town clothes with armors and vice versa.

Fair enough.

But I’ve yet to read a good argument of something preventing us to mix-match town clothes with the outfit system itself. There’s already a case to put in the outfit of our choice. What about putting a case for every armor part, like right now, and force us to wear either the town clothes or the armor, not both or no in-between. One or the other. Trigger all the town clothe parts (which are placed separately in the hero panel) at once if activated.

I’m sure it’s possible. That way:

- No glitch for mixing armor types with outfits
- People can still mix-match like right now
- It’s going back to the system we have right now but improved since we can now use it in combat and it covers our armor instead of replacing it.

Everybody happy.

I think what you guys fail to understand is…

There is no confusion whether or not I was leaving that room…

I knew i was going outside.

The confusion was that I thought I was supposed to go back outside when I was not supposed to because of the quest marker.

… Seriously, the amount of pointless complains on this forum………..

So. You just finished the hologram fight. You run toward the yellow-greenish star marking the entrance of an instance like it always worked.

Fact #1: You enter an instance. If you are in party: you’re said so. If you’re alone, it seems quite obvious you’re in one just by the fact you’re
a) alone
b) on a map surrounded with red lines.
c) Game developers usually try the most possible to avoid pointless loadings; what you’re saying is that you believed Anet would randomly make you load two different maps in a short time (and instance and a full persistent map), although they’ve never done it before.

Fact #2: You’re shown going downstair with a camera traveling going through the ground to the entrance inside the instance.
- Therefore, it would be dumb to send you back up again. Follow the flow of events.

Fact #3: Living stories always used yellow stars instead of the green ones. When you enter the instance and walk toward the yellow star (the NPCs), a big title appears telling you to go find Scarlet downstair… And a yellow star marks where she is.

Fact #4: Going to the green star asks your permission to exit the instance. Refer to Fact #1 & 2 as of why it would be dumb to exit like that.

Considering these facts, I fail to understand your logic. Yes, you’re the one to blame for blindy, without using your own logic and common sense, following a green star. You have to pay more attention to what you do.

Now if you’re mad about this, you can always craft the fine Spinal Backpack for ~ 5 gold and enter, at will, the ending sequence instance with the south-west portal (look on your map, south-west of the trill, big yellow icon near the water).

Exotic equipment boxes and ascended

in Suggestions

Posted by: NickChabby.8907

NickChabby.8907

Hello.

I bought an exotic equipment box in the Fractals of the mist (for 250 tokens…). It was very useful since when I changed weapon, from 2 hand to 1 hand etc, all my weapons were going straight to one box in my inventory, I didn’t have to move them manually or else. Always at the right place regardless of my swap.

Brilliant system.

But now I have ascended weapons mixed with exotics. It’s annoying when I swap or else, because my ascended get lost between my other boxes and loot instead of going to my equipment box.

Can we have:
1- That anything above exotic counts toward “exotic equipment boxes”?
2- … Or an ascended/legendary equipment box?…

But I’d prefer #1.

Thank you.

Lunatic Inquisition need some tweaking

in Blood and Madness

Posted by: NickChabby.8907

NickChabby.8907

Hello,

I’ll start first by saying I love this game. I fell in love with it last year and I’m still having fun this year. But my love for it doesn’t blind me from the issues it has.

Lunatic Inquisition need some balancing for next year.

At the moment, being a villagers is a synonym with death.
Ghosts respawn in 3 sec where they got killed, they do lots of damage and can spawn a fear scarecrow. Mad King Says is also a very powerful skills that harm a lot.
They can also see the location of almost every players by stepping on portals. The only disadvantage they have is their running speed. What can villagers actually do against that? Hidding in the best spot is impossible, staying in group and defend ourselves means one villager will at least get killed since the ghost will respawn anyway. Even if you slow them down with spider webs/torches, it’ll spawn the scarecrow or mad king says resulting in a death. It’s just delaying the inevitable.

We can’t do anything. At all. Which might be the point of the game, but why bother even trying to stay alive as a villager if there is no advantage to it? Why not just kill yourself and get all your pts/winning loot as a ghost? Being a villager should be as thrilling as being a ghost (and weaker too, I have nothing against that). The villagers only need to be a bit stronger.

I’m not suggesting to remove any skills. The only modification I suggest is very minimal: when a ghost get downed by players, it should respawn in the middle of the map.
That way, staying in group would actually mean something: killing the ghost would allow us to move to a next event/spot and stay alive. Hiding, although not the best playstyle I suggest, could end being useful once in a while, equiping bones, torches would actually serve another purpose than delaying our death of 10 seconds.

Because except all staying together next to a cliff with a bunch of hammers and torches, we can’t do much at the moment and the situation quickly gets out of control.

TL;DR: Make ghost respawn in the middle so villagers can be at least helpful at something and less lame to be.

Thank you

120-130 people in VoIP to kill Tequatl

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: NickChabby.8907

NickChabby.8907

Coming to complain about an event being too hard after 12 hours it has been released is not reasonable. I could also argue about it’s intelligence.

To trivialize the concerns to simple “complaints about it being hard” isn’t any better though.

As far as I’ve read both on here and reddit, people aren’t concerned about the mechanics of the fight, which are so far the most interesting the game has offered yet.
Nothing is perfect and I’m sure Tequatl can still be improved.

The players are mostly worried about the amount of organization and precise communication that need to be done in order to win this fight. 15 minutes isn’t a lot and there isn’t much place to mistakes… Try organizing a gigantic 100+ players group and make them listen to you in the open world. Granted, most of us are experienced players, but throw in there a bunch of new players who just want to join the fun and it can result in an automatic failure (and blames toward them). You don’t have a wide range of mistakes allowed when it comes to turrent and a simple player not knowing what he does or going AFK can result in an automatic failure.

The difficulty should come from the game itself, not from possible outcomes of players’ attitudes.

It just asks for too much for what many servers can actually offer. Yes, maybe it’s been out for 12-14 hours only, but we have 20 servers on two continents with thousand of players in each of them who tried more than once. Yet, only one server managed to do it and by using a third party tool: Team Speak, and because the playerbase was willing to listen to everything without discussion, mostly because of the reputation of the ones commanding everything (WWW). There is definitely something wrong.

Seriously, all those who said that “engine problems were a fine difficulty” need to learn more about game designing. A game designer (in other word Josh) usually wants to be the one deciding what is hard, not the lag, the glitch, the collisions issues etc.

That you accomodate to these issues doesn’t make them right in the end, they’re still glitches/bugs you managed to get used to.

Hmn… while I was grouped in Normal Mode, I got a yellow message if someone reached a checkpoint before me telling me I’d spawn there if I died. I did die once before reaching a checkpoint and was able to hit the keys with the group because I spawned right on it where they were waiting. I’m not sure if this works in World 2 though…

Oh, yeah, perhaps, but needing to die/sacrifice a life to reach the others during a challenging part isn’t very “helpful” for less skilled players. It’s counterproductive and you don’t end learning anything.
Note also that lives become very important in World 2, so avoiding sacrifice (except if you bought infinite coin) would be a good thing.

Like you said, normally you could just pass the gamepad to somebody else to complete it for you, it wouldn’t require you to sacrifice yourself to skip a part. There is no proper way to help other players in jumping puzzles and this is an important issue in something like the SAB.

Like I said in an earlier post, if only we could climb on someone’s back, we could not only study the path he takes, but less skilled players could go through challenging paths more easily without much loss AND more experienced ones could physically help others. It’s a win win scenario.

People in the SAB are telling others to solo it and not group – I’ve found out this is a BAD idea. The group mechanics in this are a hundred times more forgiving – kinda like when you’d pass off the controller to your friend to get you past a bad part since checkpoints apply to everyone and as long as someone is alive in the instance, you can pop back in. Nice mechanic there.

… Except all need to reach the said checkpoint to activate it and you can’t really “pass off the controller” for the difficult parts.

Maybe they updated it though, but back in April when SAB 1 was there, all 5 needed to reach the checkpoint.

This is as designed. Dungeons are designed for up to 5 people. If you choose to solo a dungeon you should expect this sort of thing. At leas that’s how I look at it. Maybe because SAB doesn’t look like a dungeon there are different expectations? We did clearly communicate when you enter a world that 5 are recommended.

The problem is that the SAB doesn’t work as a dungeon:
- You can’t rez your teammates (though maybe you can, I don’t recall well about doing it in team)
- You can’t help them neither to do difficult jumps (would be cool if we could carry people around)
- No mesmer portal
- Each death costs a certain amount of continue coins/bubbles
- In many parts of World 1 you could unlock bouncing mushroom shortcuts, but they seem fewer in world 2, which doesn’t help at all for less experienced players in jumpings.

So it’s all “to each their own” except during fights and puzzles, unlike the dungeons where you can do all of the above PLUS use waypoints (and if someone lacks money for repairs or whatever, you can send him the amount, unlike bubbles that are account bound). You can’t really expect people to consider SAB as a dungeon, it’s a complete different gameplay.

Therefore, by doing it in group, you expect them to be good enough to complete it otherwise they can become a burden… And we all know what kind of experience random grouping can give. Luckily we’re getting the LFG tool soon, but that doesn’t help the above issues.

Now if there were a proper way to help other players otherwise than by encouraging them, it would be a good start in the matter.

The Queen Pavillon update left a bad taste in many’s mouth, especially with the lack of concrete answers toward the glitches that could occur during Liadri’s fight (I’ve beaten her nevertheless).

So, I recall having a great time in SAB World 1, especially the whole “let’s embark on an adventure” feel of discovering new areas, new challenge, new gameplay. I had tons of fun, even had the patience to farm for two skins.

Today I jumped directly in SAB World 2.
Oh god.

Oh god.

Oh god.

This summarize my experience in World 2, zone 1

[…]

13 lives (including two continues) only for the first zone. Eight lives in world 2 before I give up lol. I wont repeat what was already exposed in the thread, since it has already been said and re-said AND heard by our almighty Josh.

I also want to express my gratitude to him for taking the time to answer our concerns and explain his position. We don’t see this much often. Plus, I don’t feel like needing to repeat in detail what went wrong since we know that they know.
And also thank you for taking the game’s engine to its limits to offer something new. Keep up the good work and great attitude toward feedbacks.

Now, instead of making a list of what is bad, I’ll instead offer suggestion.

1- Less Ninjas
They’re interesting enemies and they also fit the themes of world 2. It’s also normal to get slightly more challenging enemies in World 2.
That said, we got used to use the stick as a weapon for 3.5 worlds in the first SAB update in April and suddenly we’re thrown into areas filled with 2-3 ninjas, swallowing frogs, that have way too much health for the weapon we have. Granted, we can unlock an upgrade, but as far as I know, it costs 400 bubbles, it’s hidden in a secret shop somewhere, so it’s easy to miss and by the time we find it, we’ve already been kicked in the nuts countless of time by them.

So, since they knock us back (often to our death) with little to no possibility to dodge and since we’re also stuck with a cheap stick to fight them, less ninjas would be a good balance.

2- Password checkpoints?
It might be a bit late to incorporate a such system, and maybe too hard I don’t know, but it never hurt to ask.
I’ve seen a couple of people complain about the fact the levels were too long and the need from our beloved Josh to make them ‘epic’. Granted, since the zones work as “dungeon instances”, there is no way to take a break and continue later… We already have Arah path 4 suffering from that, making it unpopular for a reason.
A good solution for Super Adventure Box would be to create an additional room to the one where we choose the difficulty and the zone. In it, put a giant keyboard.
Then, generate random passwords at each checkpoint. Each instance/zone run would have different passwords, they’re randomly generated so no way to cheat… And make them account bound too (I suggest that to find a way to link a password to certain party members).
So if your party disband or need to take a break, you could start again at the exact spot with passwords.

It’s a clumsy suggestion, not perfect, but it’s an idea that could eventually become something better. Don’t hesitate to discuss it.

3- Less expensive upgrades
400 bubbles per upgrades , we don’t even get that in one single zone and we’re still getting 1 bubble max per kill… As far as I recall, it was approximatively 150 per upgrades (for a total of 5) in the first world. Why the sudden boost of 400 per items now? Considering we’re still getting the same amount of loot per killt here is obviously something wrong. Either make the monsters from World 2 drop more (since they’re harder) or make the upgrades less expensive. We have 10 upgrades to do, I don’t know if they all cost the same amount, but so far I know three of them costs 400, it’s too much.

I also link this suggestion to my 1st one: anyone who completed all of world 1 with all upgrades won’t have the required amount to complete word 2…
And since W2-Z123 are hard as hell, it’s a clear “go back to farm the end chest once a day until you have the needed amount”. We should need to go back to easier levels to have the right amount to progress. Just make the zones more rewarding, less painful and it will already be better.

All the other things I wanted to talk about has already been adressed like I said so I won’t talk about them. In a summary:

  • Too many enemies in world 2, not prepared
  • Levels too long
  • Not enough rewards from killing foes/finishing levels
  • Upgrades too expensives
  • Difficulty spike too big from world 1 to 2
  • Collision issues
  • Unfair knock backs
  • Rapids…
  • Invisible traps
  • Flowers being unfair, resulting often in death
  • etc

I haven’t yet figured out what armor she wears, but I’ve got her facial features, skin color (I hope), and stuff down. (Armor is level 14 greens for now because I’ve been leveling her in the Pavilion.)

Made her a Necro because she’s in perma-deathshroud (although some could argue that she’s a Mesmer with her Visions, but I like to think of them as her minionshttps://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/faq/, not illusions).

… A miniature version of her, to follow you around like a curse, just to remind you how horrible she was, to remind you everyday of the nightmare you went through, like a curse.

Seems like a legit price. \o/

10 VI
15 V
30 VI – V – XI
Scepter Dagger
Armor: PVT
Weapons: Berserker with sigil of battle and precision
Trinkets: mix of PVT and Berserker, rare exo ascended.

What actually helped me is remembering that I had many boosters in my bank from the achievement chests. Speed, armor, power, health regen greatly helped. Knowing the AOE patterns too.

I have mixed feelings about how I feel now. I’m proud of what I have ascomplished, but I also feel mostly relieved, like freed from an enormous burden. Let’s say it, it was a chore. I didn’t have fun. I did it for the sake of doing it, but the fight itself is very flawed: the dome is nuisible, so are the zergs under the arena. It was a real pain and I pulled my hair tons of time.

Never again.

Gold sinks help balance out the economy and it’s needed in games and MMO’s.

But there is too many of these in Guild Wars 2.

Throwing in our face an event destined to try’n’failure AND requiring us to pay everything each time is just cruel and unneeded. At least, make the waypoint free.

Your point is valid if you isolate the Gauntlet and go for efficiency in terms of time, but it’s a choice that you don’t have to make

Not really. This update is temporary, which means I only have a limited time to vainquish the gauntlet and gain its unique rewards. It’s not a choice I made, well, not entirely, it’s something Arenanet forced on us.

If it was a permanent challenge, I would fell less stressed to complete it as soon as possible. And I have a limited amount of time to play too, like it as been said.

Gold sink. Apparently, they’re doing everything to ruin us lol.

You make more gold farming tickets than you loose by buying them presumably. So it is not really a valid gold sink, because most people will be farming over buying…

Gauntlet:
Repair bill: 1~3 silver
Waypoint cost: 1 silver
Both of above x the number of time you have to try.
5 tickets: 20 silvers

Now tell me, when you run out of ticket, are you really patient enough or in the mood to spend 1 hour to get 15 Watchwork sockets for 5 ticket knowing that a boss fight with gambits cost ~5 tickets or that you’ll need approximatively 50 just for the last boss of tier3?

We lose tickets quicker than we gain them.

I don't like this update

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: NickChabby.8907

NickChabby.8907

I don’t like this update. I’ll join the club and complain.

First, I’ll start by saying I’ve been playing since Launch (and even before), I went through every updates without any major issues and every dungeons (the only path remaining is Arah p1&2).
… And I’ve never experienced so much hatred and anger toward the game. Never.

The Crown Pavillon starts of as an interesting idea, it was, but when I look at it, it’s just a simple zerg fest. Add to that the disminished returns hitting after 30-60 min and the zone becomes pretty much pointless. It’s small and we end going in circle between the same areas over and over again… And that’s about it.

The Gauntlet. While fun at first, it becomes a nightmare once you hit Tier 3. Not only you have to walk back to the Ring Master after every stupid death, but you also have to pay the waypoint, the repair cost, AND 1 ticket for each choice made to the NPCs (gambit, boss choice, entrance)… So I’ve wasted approximatively 11 gold on Liadra without any success.

Challenge is good, but it needs to be dosed. Throw us Liadra in a dungeon or in Arah, I’m perfectly fine, but a solo boss:
1- Not instanced (which brings FPS drops)
2- With an orange floor (which make AOE invisibles sometime)
3- With weird camera angles
4- There for only two weeks
5- Asking for silvers of repairs and tickets every time
6- With a waiting queue…
7- …AND WITH LOADS OF BUGS/GLITCHS

IS INCREDIBLY STUPID. I stopped counting the amount of time I got stuck with Liadra AND some remains of the last fight (Quaggan or Ooze). Wasted tickets. Awesome.. Like I said, I don’t mind challenge, not at all, in fact I had fun doing the Mad King’s Clock tower (the hardest jumping puzzle in the game so far), because we didn’t have to pay the bills of our failures, we could try as much as we wanted for free, which isn’t the case here. Did we really need another gold sink? Like if the moa race from Dragon Bash wasn’t insulting enough.

The fact that this incredibly hard gauntlet is temporary adds a layer of pressure not very much welcomed. We feel forced to complete it. I know some managed to go through it, but either:
a- They adapted to the game’s bugs and flaws (which isn’t how things should work)
b- Had a specific gear, a specific build and a specific class
Which means:
c- In addition to all the countless gold I’ve spent on Liadra, I must also get a specific gear and a specific build., and maybe I should also create a Mesmer to have clones while I dodge the AOE? Play your style they said. Heh.

This update has way too many flaws to a point I got turned off and I’ll just wait until the next one. Worst of all: Since it’s too hard for me obviously, my gauntlet meta will be stuck at 9/11 and will eventually appear on my “nearly achieved” pannel to remind me of this horrible thing I won’t be able to complete anymore. GG.

Achievement pannel - Nearly completed madness

in Suggestions

Posted by: NickChabby.8907

NickChabby.8907

Hello.

I know the “nearly completed” part of the achievement is meant to be useful, and it is in some way… But it really need improvement.

At the moment, my actual “nearly completed” achievements are:

17/18 Asuran armor
79/83 hints
Troll slayer

The dilema here is quite obvious. Either I waste 20 gold on a glitched cultural armor part (T3 Asura) that doesn’t even show up on the character (the shoulder pads, I’ve been complaining about them for months), or I pay myself another character slot with gems to unlock the other hints with the other professions. It’s kinda unfortunate and frustrating in some ways, because there is no way for me to change what is shown, so I end stuck with only one useful “nearly completed” achievement until I waste my money on things I don’t need.

The same scenario could also applies to some players who avoid long-term achievements (like Southsun survival with its 2500 pts) because they don’t want it to appear on the achievement home page as “nearly completed” when they can’t do so. We should really be allowed to browse or uncheck the actual showed achievements so we don’t end stuck with the same ones for months.

Thank you

I’m also curious. As a casual player who has barely two or three hours to play sometime, I’ve been working a lot on Meteorlogicus for months and I’m still a bit disappointed about the lack of additional effects.

… When you have things like Bifrost, Twilight or Incinerator which leaves footsteps, it surprises me there is nothing else but the skin with the legendary scepter. At least, some clouds as footsteps, just to be on the same level as the others.

I mean, those hunting the Meteorlogicus put the same amount of effort as any other legendaries hunters, so why don’t we have the same amount of effects?

I agree, why aren’t we getting swimwear?

Because at the moment whenever we dive with our town clothes we switch automatically to our armor, since going underwater involve equiping our breather and trident.

So unless they deactivate that or allow us to equip our town clothes on our armor instead of swapping, getting any kind of swimwear is unlikely and pointless… Except if you want to walk around in bikini on the beach/everywhere else without swimming.

I love how you assume people give a rat’s behind if they can swim in the skin or not. I’ll give you a hint: they don’t. Even if this game didn’t have water people would want a swimsuit skin.

Where do I assume a such thing? I considered it. Reread me:
Except if you want to walk around in bikini on the beach/everywhere else without swimming.

And I was just voicing my thoughts and a simple theory. I never spoke for the whole audiance. If we were to get a new swimsuit, we would have one already, except if they keep it for the last part of the update.

Nobody is against the idea, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen anytime soon either. We’re still waiting for the famous city minigames they announced during beta and the thousand of other outfits the NPC wears and we were promised of being able to wear too. Having a swimsuit just to show off your skin while you can simply remove your armor might not be on their priority list.

I’ve recently experienced some issues with the trading post that never occured before. Here’s the quicklist:
- Unable to see the gem currency on the top left corner in the gemstores
- Whenever I go in the style menue, my character never load, therefore I’m unable to preview anything
- Unable to right click on weapons/armors/anything on the TP to preview them
- Unable to buy anything either, the “Buy” button remains gray whatever I do

I kept the TP window opened for at least five minutes without any progess. I don’t lag while playing so I just don’t get what’s the issue. It happens everytime I play the game and just doesn’t go away.

Thank you!

[March] Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?

Armor/clothing art issues
Asura Male Tier 3 light

Issue: The right shoulder stretches and clip in horrible ways. Plus, I’m unable to hide them even though I don’t have the right piece. In other words:
- The shoulders are attached to the coat instead of being an individual piece of armor (so, unable to hide them)
- The right shoulders stretches to the elbow and forearm
- Being technical: some vertexes are assigned to the wrong bones
- The left shoulders is perfect

What I would like:
- Being able to hide/unhide shoulders
- If you can’t, just correcting the issues would be a good beginning.

Note: I’m sure this has been reported already though, but still: I paid ~130 gold for this piece of armor. I can live with having a part of my legs going through the coat sometime, but a bad skinning is a bad skinning. It’s a really different thing. It’s been like that since launch. It’s not urgent I agree, but it’s a little bit disappointing to see that you take the time to add legs and a tail nobody asked for on an air elemental YET this kind of issues is still present. :-/

I’m sorry I forgot about the tearing and the stretching… oh and not to mention the HUGE hole on the left side of the leggings (when looking down). If you guys can’t look past some of the small problems then an MMO isn’t for you.

Who are you to decide what is for us and not? Good for you if you can live with it, but still, we paid 130 gold (119 for a RARE set to transmute into an EXOTIC one) for an armor that stretches in horrible way. Even worse: the glitchy parts are on the shoulder, an armor element we’re supposed to be able to hide/unhide at our will, but for an unknown reasons they’re part of the coat.

I wouldn’t mind if the armor was around 10 or 5 gold, but it’s not the case. Some of us spent a good amount of time farming for this set only to obtain something bugged.

What is seen cannot be unseen. I got annoyed to see this glitch to a point I had to choose another set instead. I’m waiting for Anet to repair it, and they will. They changed plenty of armor in the past for graphical issues, it’s just a question of time.

The shoulder-clipping issues have been there since the launch. I ended hating the armor I farmed for weeks, unaware the shoulders were that bugged.
