I decided to stay with what I call the Teldo setup. I copied it off his stream one day.

Not sure if this is new or not but toolkit underwater Thwack (3rd hit) has an evade on it.
Sitting duck when im not using rifle range. Knee Cap not as good imo.

As it stands right now. I find that turrets are only useful as niche utility skills. Kinda what Gadgets should be.
I will bring Flame turret and overcharge it and use smoke bomb when I want to keep a target blinded for 9 seconds.
I will bring Net turret when I need to keep a target immobilize and I will take the sitting duck trait with Net Turret for single target vulnerability.
Thumper turret for blast finishers. Good for stacking might or stealth.
Rifle Turret staple in Static discharge builds.
Heal turret pretty self explanatory there
I never use Rocket turret in PVE.
A whole bunch of HGH Greande Engineers could do it.
AOE stealth combo = free shadow refuge (I do this all the time when i dont have a thief)
Toss Elixir S for RNG WOR/Smoke screen (I do this when pug guardian fails)
Use Chill Grenade to keep mobs at bay.
Abuse that 1500 range.
I would be up for doing this but I don’t want Grenade nerfed again but its possible.
Crit damage scales best on accessories . So you want berserker there first.

I do agree Pistol auto attack needs something. Although I don’t think they should change anything with it until they tone down Grenade kit.
I perfer to look at it optimistically. This gives us opportunity to improve the adept traits and move them to GM slot while bringing the +50% endurance trait down. A better kit refinement?
I would be happy if we could get rid of the artificial time gate for those dedicated players. Who have been trying for 5 months for a particular skin… Not saying any names >_>
Basically allow us to get the daily chest again if we decide to run say 30+ (40+?) again. So then maybe if I run FOTM48.. say.. 6 hrs a day I might actually get the skin I want. This gives players some incentive to run 30+ (40+?) whether its for skins or pristine relics.
Personally not a fan of RNG+ time gate… Although I’ve gotten just about every other skin then the one i actually want. Just my 2c.

It is nice to see some work being done on Reserve Mine. Other then that not much to write home about. The next patch is what I’m looking forward to.
I expect a nerf coming to 409 eventually and maybe shrapnel but for shrapnel its more grenade kit then the trait.
Which trait would you remove/move in order to put Deadly Mixture into the Firearms trait?
Even with Deadly Mixture Flamethrower is inferior. Only thing I see improving is build diversity but even then you probably want the pts into alchemy to make use of the might stacking from Jugg.
The idea that hobosacks are needed to help the enemy know what kit you are in is the weakest argument Ive seen on these forums.
Hobosack visibility is greatly reduced with any sort of range especially when the engineer is looking toward you. This is quite apparent on Asura and Norn.
The Bomb kit and toolkit have the same sack.
You are more likely to recognize the kit they are in by the weapon they are carrying more then the sack on their backside. Even more likely by the distinct skill animations.
I think merging Fireforged Trigger and Deadly Mixture is a bit much. I’d rather they just move Deadly Mixture to the Firearms tree and make Fireforged Trigger an Adept trait.
As for a proposed change for Acidic Elixirs … I like the idea of making thrown elixirs a Blast finisher.
So instead of buffing the weakest kit (flamethrower) we should make elixirs even stronger?

2177 hrs played of engineer 90% or more of that was in PVE. I learned to deal with the shortcomings of Engineer in PVE. I still enjoy it very much. 5 months or so grinding for that Fractal rifle.
Thing is everything else about flamethrower sucks… where as Grenade kit everything it does it does better then all the alternatives. So your % chance procing spam is just icing on the cake. Flamethrower 10 hit channel that misses often and takes almost 3 seconds to do…. grenade kit 1500 aoe range death spam.
Pretty sure that is pretty obvious. Just look at the disparity when you have 2 extra tries to proc everything. Sharpnel on Grenade kit vs bomb kit.. or Steel packed powder Gkit vs Bkit…Old Incendiary powder comes to mind…Old Kit refinement…i can go on and on.

Problem with % chance traits/runes/sigils is Grenade Kit. It makes it so we cant have nice thing. Those 3 grenades all have a separate chance to proc.

Agreed without traiting for radius which was bugged for a while. The mine field is not very usuable. Although I use it with my melee burst build when i don’t mind traiting for it when i have bomb kit. Only problem is the spread is the worse of all our abilities. Sometimes I get all 5 mines to kit..other times its only 2. Although again I dont use them as mines. I use them as a Grenade Barrage with boon removal. Other wise you are wasting value time running around like a chicken trying lure enemies into mines.
Also hard to judge the radius unlike the Throw mine there is no range indicator when placed down. Also the thing is the explosion radius is bigger then the proximity so you hit more things by blowing it up manually.
TLDR: it works better as a burst skill then a mine field.
They need be a proper 360 range area denial. They could achieve this by increasing mine explosion radius and add more consistent placement. So it feels more like a mine field instead of an old battle ground where u might step on a mine.
I think that will give them the niche they need. As it stands now I use it more against walls or tight spaces to reduce spread and instantly detonate it for vulnerability stacking. It is more of a crappy version of Grenade Barrage right now. Although the boon removal is nice on certain boss fights. Hard to use in PvP environment as u have to get your opponent to run into it to be effective.
Just tested it in the mist, PVE and underwater. It seems to be a bit less then 3 seconds. Overcharge doesn’t seem to increase the speed by much if any.

Well for good reason, players tend to overreact to changes. Also they havent finalized most of the changes up until last few days of patch. We see this first hand with the SOTG speculations. Alot of those changes they mentioned never actually happened they change their mind or delay changes often. Hell they even released patch notes will changes that they pushed back.
I think Kimbald got it correct in saying anything is better then a non working trait.
I think Grenade Kit will get nerfed regardless tbh. If we are lucky we will find out during the State of Game.
Either way, I think a auto fire would be nice but no auto aiming mechanic.
My guess they will just make it grant Fury for 5 seconds with an ICD of 10 seconds when you stand still.
Although, I’m hoping for something really cool. Only time will tell!
As awesome as that is, we don’t need anymore reasons to run elixirs.
The bug compilation thread hasn’t been updated in a few months. So think it is time for a new thread. I’m considering making another thread but it is a lot of work. They fixed some of the bugs on there and added some new ones. So we need a new one tried contacting the guy as he requested if someone wanted to take over but haven’t heard back from him. I’m gonna take a crack at testing all the bugs there and making sure they still exist. Last thing we want is the developers wasting time on non existing bugs. Also I think some video representation would help explain some of the more complex bugs. So they know how to reproduce them.
And I made a video just for you….I spent 10g and everything…I had to expose my dull voice to the interwebs.

Good thing the mine field bug is still there though.
Easy to test that it isnt working, but lucky enough I kept my gear from last time i tested it. Very simple to test but you need a large sample size. Although with 90%+ critical chance the non crits will proc very rarely.
I will have to record a video for the record. What most people forget is the most you can take is 14 pts in firearms or u will target the weak and get 100% crit rate. Best way to test is with precision major stat gear so u dont need the points into firearms.
Finally I don’t have to use Grenade kit to get 25 stacks of vulnerability I can just press Glow bomb.

The best thing you could hope for is that they replace Low Health Response System with grants Heavy armor (+147 armor) or add a heavy armor trait.
Yeah I think the solution is to toggle on and off the auto attack. Not sure if we have the tech to do a ground targeting when auto attack is off. Im actually working on a post on how to balance Grenade kit forever. Although its taking a long time cuz im my own worse critic.
Yeah, I agree they should give it an auto attack but I also know why one would not want an auto attack due to the spread of the Grenades when you throw them. Even with auto attack underwater they spread out and sometimes miss the selected target. This is further problematic due to the long travel time of Grenades. So targets can move out of the way during the travel time. You cant account for the travel time by leading your target into the attack with an auto attack.
Again, I understand the pain that is associated with spamming Grenades for hours. I got 2000 hrs playing Engineer and I do level 48 fotm almost every day. It is why I mostly run a SD build because of the carpal tunnel from spamming Grenades. The solution to this problem though is a lot more complicated. They would have to fundamentally change the way Grenade Kit works in order for the auto attack to be useful unless fighting a stationary target.
I never use shield but i dont pvp/wvw much so that is why. In PVE control doesn’t matter but yea its a good off hand weapon very versatile. So many tools packed into 2 skills.
I use Elixir X in the Underwater fractal for the tornado or lich form thing. Only time I ever use it. It works pretty well with a few ele or mesmer who whirlpool too.
