I’m tired of my guild telling me to use the gw2lfg.com website when I ask if anybody is interested in running a dungeon. I’m tired of guilds that use the main lobby of vent for a WvW channel. I’m tired of pugging, rage quitters because they are in a pug group, getting to the end of the dungeon and having to quit without the reward because one pug can’t follow directions.
I am looking for a guild that is NOT focused on WvW. I’m looking for a guild that gives occasional game play tips. I am looking to play this game.
I’ve been in 5 guilds since the games release, and haven’t run made a single guild dungeon run. They have all been focused on WvW. The last two told me they were PvE based, but I haven’t seen any dungeon runs.
My main is a necro, with multiple builds. If you haven’t noticed, I am primarily a PvE based player. I am looking to help people as much as I am looking for help. Most of my play time is late morning and late afternoon/early evening in the central time zone.
but yes, you have a valid complaint.
The problem with that site is that it is killing any community that did exist in this game. I have yet to run a dungeon with the same group of people. I don’t know how people not pug in this game when I’ve been in 5 guilds now, and not a single one does dungeons. In the last two guilds I’ve been in, I’ve been told to go to the website to find a group instead of anoying them while they do WvW.
When i do a dungeon, at the end, i will ask the party if they want to do runs with me in the future. If they do, i just add them as friends and whisper them when i feel like doing a dungeon run, They do the same to me as well.
Please take some initiative if you want something done. DONT SPAM your guild chat.
If you aren’t running dungeons with a guild, then what is the purpose of having guild for those that don’t want to do WvW? With the implimentation of the gw2lfg.com site, there is no reason to be in a guild if you don’t want to do WvW. When the game has the name “Guild” in it, you would think that there would be more encouragement for guild activity in all aspects of the game. Instead ANet, and the players encourage you to exit the game, log onto a third party website, enter back into the game and wait for a pug group to form so that you don’t disturb people wanting to play WvW.
Almost all of the game is solo-able.
One of the best ways to ensure that people are available to group up for group activities is to make sure they can not be soloed. Cuz anything that can be solo will soon have solo as its default.
More help in grouping. A party interface that actually works. Being able to rejoin after the game crashes on you. Finish guild functionality. etcetera
There’s lots they could do to help. But a player should recognize that most of us playing this content are doing these activities without having troubles finding a group. We start with our friends list, then ask in guild. By then we’re usually full. In worst case scenario, we ask in map for someone to join.
The game is solo-able up to lvl 65 that is. After that, you pretty much need a group to do anything PvE. Go to any map in Orr and see how many people are spamming lfg for events.

I think I figured out the problem. I’m trying to learn the recipe with an alt that isn’t level 80. It is labeled the same as the rare recipes I purchased from the crafting vendor, but apparently I have to be level 80 to learn it unlike the other recipes.
I have recently aquired the tortured root recipe for the TA dungeon. The character that I am trying to learn it on is a level 400 jeweller, and I keep getting a “you already know that recipe” message.
I don’t know why, but I was thinking it came out in mid-October. Thanks for the math correction, 2 1/2 months. As Brutal points out, no matter what incentives they put in it to get people to run it again, people who didn’t grind fractals the first week still won’t be able to find groups because people like Brutal already have everything they wanted out of it and won’t be running it anyway. If there is nobody in running it, what is the point?
I’ve made dungeon runs doing full path clears vs. skipping. Belive it or not, it takes less time to battle through vs “skipping.” The reasons, when somebody dies, they can run back with out having to battle. The player that dies in a boss battle doesn’t pull half the mobs in the room before the boss that the party skipped when he/she returns, causing a party wipe. Most importantly, the party does not have to wait for the player classes that do not have any stabilization skills and keep dying at the same spot everybody else was able to “skip.” Or
“The goal is to allow everyone to play together and make partying less restrictive for everyone. We plan to ship these two features at the end of January.”
3 1/2 months for a fix that everybody complained about from day one. By the time the fix comes out most people will have quit running Fractals because they have the items they want from it, they have completely given up on it, or they have forgotten about it all together. By the time this “fix” comes out, it will be too late.
There will be a need for new incentives so that people that weren’t able to find groups to get past level 5 will be able to find players willing to start doing it again.
Everything aside, I would just like to be able to FIND a group to run fractals with. If you didn’t frenzy the first few days it was out, and do nothing but run fractals over and over, you can’t find a group now. I keep getting supressed trying to find groups because I am still low level, and have to spam for hours to get anything going.
You have to sit in LA to chat, and not play the game.
They’ve said that they were working on a LFG tool? Don’t see it any where on the forums. If they said time and time again, you would think that I would have seen that before I posted. Nope, probrably buried down on the bottom of some thread that is now 10 threads merged together, 20 pages down. If ANet wants people to quit complaining about the same topics, they need to keep the complaints visible instead of hiding them. It makes me feel like nobody has said anything, and that I am the first to speak up.
That aside, I have yet to see a LFG tool work in any MMO. Nobody uses them because you end up with random pugs. A chat channel dedicated to looking for groups that is servor wide is what I have seen that works best. I’m not saying it’s the best option, just what I’ve “seen” work with success. Considering you can talk to guild members no matter where they are on the server, it wouldn’t be a big step to modify that.
This is a sad fate of things, when you have to go to a third party, external of the game to find a group for a dungeon. After spending hours in LA spamming LFG, and not being able to do ANY game play because if I leave nobody can hear me spamming LFG, I find out that there are websites set up specifically for finding groups for guild wars 2 dungeons. I thought that nobody was running dungeons other than fractals lvl 14 and above until somebody told me about the websites.
Not only have we been forced into dungeons to get any decent drops, but now we have to go to a third party to find dungeon groups. Please ANet, this is getting sad.
I just want to scream at the people saying “they are group events for a reason.” How are you supposed to do a group event if nobody is around? I’ve run around in zones without seeing a real player (plenty of bots) for hours. I’ve called for people to help in map chat. I’ve triggered events in hopes that people I am not seeing might show up. I’ve sat there and waited. Unless you are on a FULL server that ingores WvW you can’t find people in all zones. It gets quite frustrating when you need to complete a group event in order to capture a skill point, vista, or POI in order to clear the map. On my server, the mid level zones are empty, the high level, and low level zones always have people availible.
Irnhide, you hit my second point on the head. It is too easy and cheap to go around ANet to purchase things. If ANet wants to make money off of their gems cash sales, they need to make it less easy and less tempting.
I was doing a search today to see if I could find anything about what ANet is doing about botting. I did an internet search, and I was suprised at how many sites there are that tell you how to bot, and provide the tools to do it with. I actually had to reword my search several times before I got hits for what is being done regarding bots.
I would think that ANet would take it more serious because if somebody can buy gold from a spammer or run their own bot to farm gold, why would they pay ANet cash for the gems to convert to gold or other uses. It means money out of their pockets.
I use tranmutation stones to retain both upgrade itmes and skins on non-salvageable items all the time.
I’m running a condition build for my necro and was wondering what people recomend for the armor?
Precision does nothing for a condition build. I have a crit chance of over 50% and I see a condition crit about 1% of the time. When I get the conditions stacked up, I watch them ticking off the health extremely fast, but hardly ever see any of the condition damage actually crit.
The OP has a point, in order to build up condition stats from my armor, I have to sacrifice vitality or toughness. I would rather sacrifice precision instead, since it is worthless to a condition build.
Personally, I would like to see some armor with some different stat combinations such as Power/Condition/Toughness.
Not yet. I have an alt that is lvl 26 strictly from crafting using mats my main has gathered.
Talk to all of the NPC’s some of them start the events. Once started, people will swarm to it. If you have promblems finding the NPC needed to start an event, talk to the scouts, they usually give you clues to events and heart “quests.”
I’ve been having problems with mobs respawning exremely fast. I’ve had issues where a mob will respawn before I kill it. Other times I will have taken out a bosses ads only to have them respawn before I take out the boss. I have taken mobs out in 3 shots, only to watch them respawn before the original has even hit the ground. I’ve seen this in all areas. I’ve even seen bosses respawn as they were dying, and had to fight them a second time without any of my cooldowns resulting in a death.
Would it be possible to start the respawn timer at the time of death of the mob instead of the time of the start of battle with the mob?
These are not respawns from other players formally in the area because I am playing during low trafic time, and I would be able to see some form of evidence that a player had been there, especially in a flat open area. This is also not an issue of not being able to play my toon as I have seen this when I have taken a mob down in 3 shots.
