Good post. I am hoping that the more content at this difficulty level that is introduced into the game players will understand that all content doesn’t have to be for everyone.

Most content should be for everyone, and then little elements of the game can be catered towards niche groups.

I mean I hate crab toss and keg brawl. I don’t think they are designed wrong, they are just not to my taste. I love Sanctum Sprint and Southsun Survial. I don’t post rants on the forums about the content I don’t like and demand it changed. I stick to the content I do like.

That is what erks me about all the SAB whining.

I am glad there is someone who shares my views and understand hat I am saying. I also completely Agree on the mini game aspect. There are plenty if mingames that I fin md unbearable but it is easily avoidable and if you don’t want to or can’t do certain content you don’t deserve that particular reward but there is plent if stud you can go and do, just let those of us who enjoy a challenge keep our extremely frustrating, annoying, infuriating yet fun content.

First of all I will say yes I did buy the infinite coin 1) because I support The SAB and 2) because I do not enjoy farming combat etc.

To begin I want to give the development team (including but not confined to Josh) my fullest respect for this content. Ever since Josh teased it on the forums I was hooked, loved world 1 and could not wait for this next installment.

Having now complete Tribulation mode start to finish 3 times I am slightly disappointed in some of the changes been made. Like others on the forums I feel the achievement has been cheapened. I agree the rapids needed fixing but reducing damage and knock back distance was enough. Removing the geysers has made W2 Z1 has made it far to simple.

To mention some issues I have noticed from extensive playing ;

1) The new checkpoint in W2 Z2 after the portals but before the beams respawns you on the spikes, you can get off fairly easily but not without losing lives.

2) Due to the checkpoint above the cloud checkpoint following that no longer works and you get taken back to the new checkpoint.

3) Party members disconnecting. Having done my first play through as a duo we got to W2 Z2 played for 3 hours, got near the end and his game crashed (which is still occurring.) He knew he wouldn’t be able to return and decided to play it again himself but as soon as he left the party I was taken out of the SAB as well. I was speechless to say the least. Looking back it should have Ben obvious but I feel this really needs fixing. As it is right now if someone disconnects or crashes they are forced to stay in the party until the other player / s have finished that zone.

As for what I would like to see for the future of the SAB ;

1) Much more depth in including it into the living story. The genie achievements and the cutscenes were amazing and I can not wait to see how that story is going to evolve.

2) Harer content. I know there we many people complaining but this is meant to be extremely hard content. Solo it took me 5 hours to figure out and complete W2 Z3 the first time and the second time I got it down to 55 minutes, which I felt was perfect. The sense of accomplishment after spending the time to figure it out was amazing but I dislike the fact that Josh has accepted that it is too long. Please please please do not listen to people complaining. This was well developed content at a good difficulty and should only evolve further.

3) Something tha has Ben mentioned once or twice but I would also love to see, a special weapon skin for combining the skins from all 4 tribulation modes, for example; combining all 4 variations of the great sword would produce a weapon that either cycled colours or produced some form of multicoloured aura etc.

4) Either a title or form if meta achievement for tribulation. Again, yes it is difficult but that is he sort of content we now need. Personally I was unable to defeat liadri as well as the other champions, doesn’t mean I complained on the forums, it just means I have respect for the people that could achieve something I couldn’t. Games shouldn’t cater to everyone at every level. When you make your hardest content either easier or less rewarding to compensate for the less abled players you are still impacting on a large portion of your community.

Once again I would like to congratulate everyone envolved in the super adventure box, it is an amazing feature in the game and there are far too many people complaining and not enough praising you for the outstanding feats you have overcome to create what you have.

Edit: Just to prove I am not lying etc. I hate not being able to back up what I say.

Couple of Travel Questions

Ok my first question is probably going to seem very stupid and an oversight on my part but how on earth do I get to Southsun Cove ? I do not have the waypoints and can not find the ship since the Bazaar of the Four Winds. How do I get there >.<

Secondly is more of a random idea that occurred to me. How does a ship take us from lions arch to the bazaar 0.o ?

Looking at the map all routes are cut off buy land masses or bridges . . .

The only other option is that it is sailing off the southern edge of the map, around the scavenger’s causeway and back up again, if that is even possible. And if this were the case, surely the travel would be ridiculously long, we would have access to different lands in between and it is highly unpractical. Anyway just a thought of mine I liked to share.

First Time Offence - 2 Week Ban ?

in Account & Technical Support

Novack.8624

I don’t know why you would have been suspended for two weeks. The general suspension is 3 days, but no warning is given, as per the Conduct Breaches and Outcomes document. Most importantly, though, I note that this has been resolved and you logged into the game today, so I assume all is well.

You know, the game logs do show a few rude comments, as you honestly mentioned. We all know that there could be a rare “slip of the tongue” and I’m figuring you’re not at all likely to do that again, so thanks for the self-awareness.

Yes thank you, I got the ticket system working (Possibly an internet issue at my end) and by the next morning the suspension was lifted which I am grateful for, and yes as you say it was the heat of an argument that should have been kept out of game, in rage I made a bad choice and regretted it instantly >.< It shall not happen again.

Thank you for also responding, and also thank you to the support team for dealing with the situation so swiftly =D I have seen them getting a lot of bad comments and alot of strictness towards players but they have my respect for how this was dealt with.

If 3 days have passed since you submitted a ticket and you haven’t heard a response, you can post your ticket number in the 3-day stickied thread. ArenaNet / Gaile doesn’t want people to create a ticket and then immediately post here in the forum hoping to speed the process up as that doesn’t work.

In any case, if what you said really was severe enough to warrant a 2-week suspension, I suspect that doing the same thing again could result in a permanent ban. Might wanna just put the person on ignore next time to avoid all of this.

It wasn’t to ‘speed it up’. I tried sending a support ticket in but it wouldn’t complete and just wouldn’t send. I will be trying again but just did this in the mean time since I couldn’t get the ticket system to work last night.

IDK =/ I did wonder this and I regret what I said so you may be right, and also there is nothing there about first offences but it has been repeated by mods / devs repeatedly over the forums. As I said, I agree I was out of line but 2 weeks still seems excessive, not even heard of someone getting a 2 week suspension before it happened to me.

I have tried sending a support ticket and shall try again but as I really want answers I shall try posting the same message here as well ;

To whom it concerns,

Earlier today I was suspended from guild wars 2. I believe I know why but was not in game so did not get an explanation. If correct it is because of offensive language during an argument with another player, the other player contacted me out of game insulting and harassing me and, stupidly, I responded in game so I understand why I received a suspension.

However, by going through the conduct information again, it came to my understanding that for each mark gained on an account you get suspended and each time the suspension is extended.

I have never been suspended in the past, so from my understanding, this is my first mark meaning a shorter suspension which I know the shortest to be 72 hours. So why is it that if this is my first mark (Having never been banned before) I am instantly banned for 2 weeks ?

I understand that my behavior was wrong, I should have kept the argument out of the game and realize I deserve a punishment but this seems to be against the conduct stated on your website and a very steep punishment for a first time offence.

Could I have any explanation as to why I have gone from never being banned to an instant 2 weeks.

Again I apologize for my behavior and would just like some help in understanding the situation.

Also, to anyone else reading this, has anyone else had a 2 week ban for a first time offence . . . Every thread post or comment I have found has stated that the first suspension if 72 hours and escalates. I realize that I was greatly in the wrong and deserve a suspension and even EXPECTED one in hindsight but never expected to login and see a 333 hour ban =/

Has this changed recently without it being stated anywhere ?

Bazaar of the Four Winds Arc

As much as I LOVE all of this ideas of flying, I think everyone is way off the mark. The below exert is from an interview with website Polygon.

“In the upcoming Guild Wars 2 update, Bazaar of the Four Winds which will launch on July 9, players will be able to take part in Mario Kart-like races across a cliff in a floating city. Whiteside teased that players will be able to take advantage of air and elemental movement when they take part in the event, and the event itself will build on the existing storyline and grant access to new items and activities.”

I would guess this is what ‘Movement’ is refering to !

SAB Races and Other Ideas ?

in Super Adventure Box

Posted by: Novack.8624

Novack.8624

So I have been playing ALOT of the Super Adventure Box and I can’t help but feel there are so many things that could be built on what is the basis of a great potential.

The first idea that came to mind whilst playing with a few friends were races. The more we played we soon learnt zones 100% and knew the exact path to take and started to compete in who could finish a zone quicker and timing ourselves. This made me think back to games like Super Mario Kart 64 and other racing games. How awesome would it be to turn the Adventure Box into a Multi-player Race with power-ups such as the collectible speed buffs or maybe even things that could hinder your opponents like splats that cover their screen, barriers that bock their path or sludge that slows them down etc.

Than that started me thinking about other old favorite multi-player games. What about a game where players raced to collect the most amount of baubles in a period of time in a specific checkpoint or zone ? How about racing to a centre point to be the first to grab a flag and holding the flag gives points per second, being hit by a player transfers the flag, most points wins ?

The ideas are endless, think of an old multi-player game mode and I am sure it could be made to fit within the Adventure Box. Which to me would really extend it’s life. Josh Foreman has already stated that their are ‘4 Planned Worlds’ and I am dreading the day that forth world is released. But by allowing players to create their own game mode with friends to compete for a currency (Bauble Bubbles?) would really be a great way to finish the Adventure Box as well as making it a highly re-playable feature in the game.

PS. I would also love to use it as a tool for deciding guild choices, Much more fun than a vote ! Team 1 wants to play WvW, Team 2 Wants to do Missions, SAB Battle Arena can be the decider !

grumpy/hard mode?

I for one, Can not wait for a ‘Hard Mode’ regardless of rewards ! I have been waiting for this ever since the first teaser released by Josh on the forums. Have been actively farming the box and trying to beat my best time.
Currently running it as a pair Zone 1 to Killing the King Toad – Best Time 13:40 ^.^
I can not wait to have a harder challenge and certainly can not wait for the next release >.< I just hope the love and demand for the SAB will convince the team (Or whoever controls release dates) To keep the box permanently and to provide smaller but regular updates!

I need my adventure box fix !

Someone mentioned it before and Yes IT IS the sword of time from Zelda – Ocarina of time. just google it if you haven’t played the game. whilst I would love to see it make its way intro the game it is seeming less and less likely.

Just to add my say to this, after watching the video not only is it a strange thing to be recording but it seems interesting that the person trebbing shows so much interest in the guardian from a distance. Sure you might want to quickly see what server they are from but he is actively watching the individual making sure there is a good view of him. Strange eh ?

I agree that maybe a full reset is too much as the game is now, but as you said, if the NPC’s AI was improved I don’t see the harm in punishing a group for letting them die, even if it isn’t a complete reset.

Any other ideas anyone ?

In a previous post about future updates there was mention of rewarding players for their achievement points. I believe this is the kind of thing you are talking about. I will try to find the original post.

[Edit] OK as promised here is the link to the full article :

The section I believe will interest you is the following quote:

‘Down the road, we’ll also be adding a reward structure to total achievement points’

I hope this enlightens you in some way.

I am glad there is someone who also feels that a bigger size group is a good idea.

Although I think there should be a way to do dungeons in larger groups as well.

I started a topic on this yesterday sharing my ideas for a 15 man-size version of AC would love to know what you think.

I nearly wasn’t going to even bother responding to that since it is such a short minded way of seeing things.

1) As I said idea wasn’t perfect, AI would have to be changed but this would not be the first game where you have to protect and uncontrollable NPC, it’s not a new concept and has worked in many games in the past.

2) You’re saying the majority of people YOU know struggle organizing a 5 man group. Whilst I can assure you this is not the case throughout the entire game. In a guild of over 450 active members 90% of them will agree AC is Stale and Boring, and they can run it without failing. Yes there are people who struggle in a 5 man group but than I never said take 5 man groups away. I am saying there should be an option that allows players to become more involved in a dungeon and to work in bigger teams.

Just because SOME people struggle with a 5 man dungeon your saying NO-ONE Should be given a challenge ?

I repeat short sighted comment, If you want to try giving constructive ideas, go ahead.

Ascalonian Catacombs - Dungeon Idea

Novack.8624

Just been watching an argument in guild about whether or not people would like raids to be included into the game. Whilst watching I realized many people were viewing the idea in black and white and comparing the term raid to that used in WoW. Now personally I hated raids in WoW but I would love to see some bigger events that I can take more guild members to. this got me thinking about how it could be done so hope you like it and let me know what you think.

I considered the current state of AC Explorable Mode. As it stands, I gather 4 friends we run in, choose a path, encounter some minor inconveniences than kill a boss. Rinse and Repeat. But imagine this.

You gather a group of 15 people all entering AC at the same time. You go through the usual prelude before starting the main bulk of the dungeon. It comes to choosing a path and this is where things get interesting.

Instead of choosing a path and all running it you make 3 teams of 5 players. Each dedicated to protecting an NPC. They have to stay with this NPC keep them alive or else the whole team will be inconvenienced, have to restart etc.

Each team will go a different direction to achieve their goal. At certain points they can choose to regroup to work together, for example a stronger form of Kholer, much harder to kill but with a bigger pay off.

Now for each of the teams.

Team 1 – Hodgins:

This team will accompany Hodgins in retrieving the sceptre in very much the same way it does now. The difference being one member of the team will actually receive the sceptre, the reason why will become clear later.

Team 2 – Detha:

This is where things change. Rather than having path 2 and 3 (As path 3 would contribute very little to the overall effect) I have split path 2 into 2 teams. Detha’s group will need to collect scrap metal, tools etc. in order to help Detha in repairing the cannons. Repairing the cannons can be done in very much the same way but they will be transportable, again the reason why will become clear.

Team 3 – Tzark:

Rather than collecting essence and transforming into ghosts Tzark will take over the collection of ‘Bait’ from the flooded temple. The event can happen in the same way but once the gravelings etc. are killed they will be gathered in containers for later on.

Reunion – Final Boss:

Once all 3 teams have completed their individual task they will meet and prepare for the final fight. As an example this could occur where the Howling King takes place. the difference is the boss will need to be killed in a certain procedure which involves all previous work in the dungeon.

Step 1 : Team 3 will need to work together to place bait in the centre of the room. whilst doing this they will encounter trash mobs etc. that they can either kill or run past if they can survive. This will lure the boss into the centre of the room.

Step 2 : Team 2 will each run to 1 of 5 cannons placed around the perimeter of the room. They will have to charge the cannons in some way whether it is the usual click and wait or by placing some form of power source. Once charged AND the boss has been lured to the centre of the room the cannons can be used to make the boss vulnerable. It could be by shooting a shield or by shooting the roof which collapses and causes a debuff. (This kind of idea, ideas aren’t 100%, making it up as I type ^^)

Step 3 : Team 1 will be doing the main damage to the boss. 1 Member of team 1 will be equiping the sceptres gained during the dungeon now this could work in 1 of 2 ways. They can be a defensive ability that would prevent team 1 from wiping (A shield from his yell which can’t be dodged kind of idea) or by giving every member of team 1 a buff which allows them to cause more damage to the boss. Without it the boss would take a very long time to kill. (As I said not perfect but 1 of the 2 ideas).

In my mind this would allow larger groups to all be able to work together as at the moment we are limited to just 5 players. As I said, this has been thought up of within the space of 15 minutes and the time it has taken me to type. I would love to see other peoples ideas and views, maybe even other ideas for other dungeons. Can’t wait to see what people think. =D
