Found a solution: BootCamp. Done with the Mac “support” they’ve got here at ANet.

I just CMD-Tab out and then open it again from the Dock, though I haven’t been spinning out of control anymore lately.

Alright, here’s the deal. I’ve crashed 7 times today, losing a decent chunk of loot/karma/money/exp/etc every time. I’m frustrated. This didn’t just start today, and, from what I’ve heard, it’s been going on for far longer than I’ve been here. I’m tired of ANet’s bullkitten excuses of ‘oh, it’s a beta, be patient’. This ‘client’ (if you can even call a shoddy Cider wrapper a client) has been out for 2 years now.

Enough of this crap. I paid just as much for this game as all the other PC users did. They got a fully working native client. I got a piece of software junk. I’m installing gw2 on a windows partition until ANet decides to wake up and realise that they’ve screwed all the mac users.

I paid just as much for this game as the PC users did and I got a broken client that crashes constantly, is full of graphical bugs/glitches, has a TRASH trading post, and is just all-over bad. If we’re going to play a terribly broken game, we should get one hell of a discount.

Nevermind, this guy’s just a cheater who can freaking drink water twice as often as you can. Have fun with this one, guys.

Seriously, have you guys played against the second BB guy? Holy crap. “You mean to tell me I can only drink once every 4 turns? Pshhh. Screw that noise.”
Not even joking, this guy drinks every other turn. Match that with his special that makes water heal more, and I’m not even sure this guy is possible. Maybe this is just me being new to the minigame, but is this abnormal?

I have bootcamp, and, while it does work nicely, it’s just wonky enough that I’d prefer to not run anything that complicated on it… like GW2. Also, this is, what, a 20 GB game? My partition is 100 GB, and I’m very tempted to make it smaller. Not sure I want to use a fifth of my entire partition for a game that ‘has a mac version’.

We’re all disappointed, believe me I know how you feel. However at the end of the day just be grateful that we actually have the game running on Mac computers in the first place. Sure it’s quite buggy but they are trying to make it work for us. Other developers for other games may not have even attempted to expand their game to Mac computers, so the fact that ArenaNet are still trying to work with Macs despite all of these complaints and bugs I’m actually rather thankful for. I know it’s frustrating but once they get the fix it will be fixed, hopefully for good.

Do we have a running client though? it’s a cider port, so we get reduced performance. Every issue that affects mac users isn’t addressed until it affects windows users. Our BLTP has been down for ages (a crippling blow to an mmo, I might add)… I think you think ‘running on mac’ means something less than I do.

bltc is still broken. Chat’s fixed, thank the six. It’s been almost two weeks, ANet. Please. For the love of whatever higher power you want to believe in. Fix this soon.

New Wardrobe system is cool, figured it was about time to use my Primeval Armour Skin I got when I bought the Legendary Edition of the game. All the skins unlocked, but now I have each piece (legs, helm, etc) sitting in my inventory. I don’t really want to change my current armour, but I don’t want another whole set clogging up my inventory or bank.. any suggestions? What did you do with yours?

Anyway, my top 5:
1) NO MORE Black Lion bugs. Ever. Even before this giant (what, two-week, now?) fiasco, I’d been having temporary (several hours long) blackouts on the tp. It’s frustrating and a real hinderance.

2) No more beta! Give mac users a working client that is confirmed to work perfectly- we paid just as much as the pc users did, and they have 100x the support we do.

3) Don’t let us feel insignificant/ignored. I’m tired of feeling like an issue isn’t an issue until it affects PC users. If PC tp crashed, it would have been fixed within a few hours. I feel mac-exclusive issues are merely ignored far too often.

4) more great updates like this one! Time for a positive note, forums are far too often completely negative comments because the people who really appreciate the game are actually playing it. This update is great. I love the new pvp build screen, new runes are pretty cool, and two sigils for each weapon? Rock on, man!

5) a fully working, reliable client! I know this is kind of my first 3 points mashed together, but, I just want to be able to play the same game the pc users do without running into roadblocks at every turn. No, it’s not a gaming computer. But GW2 is a very aesthetic-based game, and one thing my macbook does darn well is graphics. Have you seen this game on a retina display? Hoo, buddy. Looks phenomenal. Anyway, I digress.

Basically, I just want to be able to reliably play the game. Take care of the crashing, take care of the mac-exclusive bugs, and get rid of that annoying beta tag!

I’ve tried deleting the contents of the GW2 folder in Finder. I’ve waited a week. I’ve looked forward to false promises of fixes. ANet, what the bloody hell is going on?

My game crashed recently and needed to ‘update’ before I could play again. Awesome, a patch, right? Nope. Nothing happened. ANet, we get it that you don’t give a kitten about mac users. But come on. It’s been a week.

Last night, for instance. Guildies wanted to go ‘Nightcapping’ in wvw, capturing camps and whatnot while everyone is asleep for easy wxp and ap. We proceeded to build 5 Alpha Golems and punch doors and gates while I said “KNOCK KNOCK”, then just go in and smash face. It was pretty hilarious and a barrel of fun.

What the hell is with all these people losing their heads over giant heads? Jesus. It’s funny. I laughed so hard I woke my roommate up when my head suddenly blew up to 200% size. I logged in today after class and was genuinely sad to see it was gone. It’s a prank, guys. a PRANK. Think of when your friends put your fingers in warm water while you slept, or put a bucket of water over the door. It’s inconvenient, sure, and it’s not exactly what you’d like. But you look back on it and it’s seriously funny! So deal with it. Laugh. Enjoy the funny things ANet is doing and don’t be a fool about it.

I have literally just this SP left for zone completion, and it’s nowhere to be found! I’ve looked around on the internet and everyone seems to have a lovely candlelit dinner set out for them. I’ve murdered hundreds of Grawl (the spawn rate there is just silly), and there seems to be no hope of the SP appearing. Am I doing something wrong? Is anyone having similar issues?

My contribution- During Battle for Lion’s Arch, at final instance, everything went technicolour crazy. Faces disappeared. AoE rings were invisible. My inventory and map were all sorts of bonkers. I lol’d. Pic related.

I have mixed opinions about this next patch. Wardrobe looks SO FREAKING COOL. I’m excited for that. I’ve started using only Exotic armour now that I have a bit more gold stored away, but I’d also really like to use the Human T3 armour so I can be a female counterpart to ol’ Logan Thackery (“Retreat!” shout comes in handy here!). Now, I’ll be able to have my Exo stats with the T3 armour! That, on top of I only have to buy it once! So, if some time down the road, I roll up a human warrior, I can have that great looking armour on both of ’em!

Dyes.. I don’t know what to think. I’m glad they’re account bound. That was always the frustrating thing about rolling a new character, as I’m a customisation dork. I have so many colours on my main, and it was annoying to roll up a new one with, what, 12 starter dyes? Now I’ll start with all my dyes! Pretty cool! But.. no more Unid drops kinda sucks. I was about a fifth of the way to collecting 250 of them (saving for a Bifrost), and it’s gonna be MUCH harder to nab the last 200.

I feel you on the legendaries, OP. Like.. I don’t see why that needed to happen. There are clearly people playing this game that are totally okay with making 4 Incinerators because they have a need for that many. It feels to me like there isn’t really any purpose to making more than one of a certain legendary anymore. What if I want Bifrost on my Guard and my Ele? I should work for both of those. I’m not sure I like, or understand, their decision in that regard.

OP made it clear he wasn’t whining, and he has a point. Quoted post had a point. Granted, I cut it out, but that wasn’t the focus of the quote. The focus is, OP made his statement like a decent human being. You simply whipped out your opinion-dong and started waving it around and smacking people in the face with it. I’ve already seen too many games ruined by a toxic community. You’re the one who needs to take that second option.

ANet did a wonderful job with these hairstyles, honestly. I was getting kinda tired of the hair on my main, and was so pleased to see how wonderful the new human female hairstyles are! OP seems to have left out the best ones, though! Oh well. Normally wouldn’t have spent so many gems on this (I’m broke), but those hairstyles are awesome.

Why was she hiccuping anyway? I enjoyed the fights on the airship, even finishing Scarlet was interesting, but the whole time I was playing it, it was pushed to the back of my mind. The front was occupied by ‘why the heck won’t you shut up? stop it with the hiccups!’

So, only thing that we get is the “heroes” stand around in a bar making jokes. The PC tells them it’s a Dragon and Kasmeer is surprised. (has she been living in a barrel?) Then Marjory’s sister comes in (?) and drops a hint about going to Brisban wildlands, which is about the only interesting thing about this. After standing there and listening their yammering some more you get a reward (which you deserve) and can leave. And you’re left hanging with a feeling of … lacklusterness.

But yes, I was really disappointed that so many plotlines were left unanswered and the focus was on these NPC’s the devs are trying hard to push as interesting characters. So fitting end to the living story, I guess.

Did anyone else believe that was a party?

Not one had a drink or food and didn’t exhibit any party-like exuberance.

Not only that, that was the quietest part I have ever seen, no band, and these are the heroes of Tyria in a tiny place without the grandeur of the city they are sitting in with its Queen still firmly on the throne?

Ok, so where’s the dragon and how do we do anything when there is no direction to the dragon or any ability to rebuild our city.

I am as confused as anyone else.

I don’t mind the quiet, subtle atmosphere of the party. The lighting in the bar is really cool, the ambient noise is a really nice touch, and, well, flame me if you like, but this little bunch kinda started to grow on me a little. Granted, the game already had its token lesbian couple (Faolain, anybody?), so that seemed like overkill, but I dunno. I thought the scene felt like, not so much a party, as a ‘well, we did it.. Let’s kick back and relax for a bit now that we just saved a whole friggin’ city’ kind of deal.

I agree, I’d love to know why the vendors just packed up shop and left when LA was safe.

Also, I was actually completely unaware that the vendors were going away until I went to one of the camps and found only a standard kit/gathering tool merchant. But I shant feed the trolls.

I agree with you, though. This update is COOL. We finally get to kill Scarlet, and in a pretty cool showdown, I might add. The hologram fight is truly fun and interesting every time.

I’ll give all the ranters two things. One- it’s buggy as all get out. I haven’t played it in the past few days, maybe they’ve fixed it. All I know is, what an earlier post mentioned. In the first 6 days, we had 6 patches. (psst, that means they’re working on it. Don’t be a grouch.)
Two- zerging isn’t for everyone. There are those of us who like to take everything down in the most systematic, speedy way possible. They want to hit all three knights at once. Not because they need the ach, necessarily. That’s just how it makes the most sense to them.
Then, there are those of us that just wanna SMASH THINGS! Hmm, I can beat up this robot with 40 people.. Kinda tough though. What if we get the other 80 here? I bet we can blow the durn thing up faster, then just run to the next one and give it a similar beating! That’ll teach their metal butts to mess with a group of 120 angry Tyrians!

Anyway, stay classy. Hopefully everything will be right soon.

P.S. When you finally get to the end, and a little bug gets through.. Instead of raging, try laughing. It’s healthier. Pic related, this was supposed to be Marjory and Kasmeer’s ‘tender moment’. I lol’d.

Once I got into Scarlet’s chamber, the graphics went all psychedelic on me. Faces became floating eyeballs, the ground was multicoloured squares, and AoE rings didn’t appear.

Yeah, you heard me. Fighting Scarlet was real fun with no indication of where those kitten grenades would land. Also, the little scene with Marjory and Kasmeer looked pretty funny when neither had a face.

Honestly, I love the event.

Scarlet’s death is nice and climactic, plus we finally get to end the madness that’s escalated from the mostly silly shenanigans so far. Taking LA was a big step in the story, taking it back has proven to be exciting as well.

While I’m not a fan of the Knight fights (condis! no condis! condis! no condis! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WP IF DEAD!!!!!!), the loot (IF you manage to get it) is worth the bother, and it’s fun to sprint to the next one with a hundred people in a massive glob, swimming through the bay and jumping out of the water. Like a school of funny little fikitten

he Hologram fight is friggin’ cool. I love it. While the Knights are little more than a slight modification of Tank n’ Spank, the Holograms require coordination, movement, attention to detail, quick reflexes, all sorts of cool elements that work really well with the style of the game! Also, I’ve seen several classes that just fit a certain role really well in the fight. Mesmers (especially GS) have proven to be excellent at dealing damage to the Prime Hologram, with their range and high damage. Guardians have a fun little niche in that one of their vitrues (Justice, maybe?) gives everyone Aegis. See UV Bomb about to hit? Pop it, and everyone around you is totally safe. Truly the most interesting fight I’ve seen from the game!

That being said…

BUGS. Fix ‘em. You’ve got one hell of a diamond here, ANet. It’s just got a few flaws. Fix ’em, and this could be one AWESOME update.

So.. is the event fixed now?

Join the Grumpy Club. I’ve been on for 3 hours, DC’d over a dozen times, and found nothing but bugs. This is ridiculous.

Oh, it’s been delightful. Lost achievements, loot, good servers, potential victories… All because of DC. It’s not even just when we’re fighting the Knights, either. It’s happened SO MANY times for me that I’m just giving up. I’m gonna go farm iron. That’s more entertaining than watching my screen freeze then blip out to the login splash.

I’m so frustrated. So. Very. Frustrated.

I’ve been Battling for Lion’s Arch for around 2.5 hours now, and I’ve disconnected (and almost always been moved to an overflow with a lower population) 7 times now. I’ve also had several champion drops ruined (participate in Overflow A, reaching Gold participation against a champ, DC, move to Overflow B, get Bronze, AKA, not even worth the effort). I’m sick of this and simply cannot play until it’s resolved.

I know we’re not the most publicised guild, but [LUX] is a darn good one! I’m trying to expand, most of the active members stopped representing, and I want to get a community going again. We’re mostly PvE, though expansion into other areas of the game is not impossible once we get more members!

New players are more than welcome to join, also! It’s a big game, and I’d love to help someone get the hang of things.

Weekly events and raffles will also be starting once more people join! (I tried a raffle last month, and only 2 people participated, one of whom I told in person. Kinda disappointing.)

We currently have Poli III, Archi III, Econ II, and AoW I.

The way this game is set up is rediculous:
1. You charge us to go to a WP, which is just stupid.
2. You charge us to list our stuff on the TP, another stupid idea.
3. Whenever we do find a way to make money you guys nerf it by stopping it or way lowering the drops we get.
4. Donate to Winterdays to get part of the achievements, is outragous.

This is suppose to be a game that is fun and you doing all the above is not making it fun. Why are you guys constantly looking for ways to take the money we spend hours trying to get? Where does the money really go? into thin air as the NPC’s are not real people, WP, TP and Winterdays Donation do nothing but STEAL FROM US.
We spend grinding hours of trying make money or get items which is getting to the point of NOT FUN. NOT FUN GET IT????

My thoughts:

1) Look at any other MMO ever. If you want to get across the map quickly, you pay. If not, drop the whole ‘quickly’ thing. A good point was brought up with the ‘gold sink’ comment earlier. This is an example of some money disappearing from the system and not going into goods, items, et cetera. This, however, is a good example. More on why the Ho-Ho-Tron and shifty bard aren’t a good example later.

2) Through all my experience with MMOs, there have been three options for trading. One- stand in a crowded area and scream “SELLING TWILIGHT AND GLOBS OF ECTOPLASM” for hours on end until someone wants to underpay you for it. Two- Limited transactions at a time, but free listing. Three- Unlimited listings, but with a fee. This is another gold sink, like the WP cost, that helps balance the amount of gold in circulation. Besides, it’s only 10%. I’ve played plenty of games where it’s 15%.

3) I hear ya on this one, if only halfway. I do feel like ANet is constantly making it harder and harder to make decent gold (through means such as drastically lowering the drops of certain materials- Seriously, why is a chili pepper 11 silver???- and utterly destroying the drop ratios from bosses and champions), but the game still has plenty of options for making gold. Play the gem exchange. Play the TP! I bought 250 silk scraps a few months ago when they were DIRT cheap (less than a silver each, if I remember correctly), and now they’re averaging just shy of 2s each. Look out for great deals and take advantage of them! Also, don’t discount Dungeons as a way to make gold. Even without selling the mats I get (I love crafting too much), I still get an impressive amount of gold after a run.

4) Dude, I got nothing here. Ho-Ho-Tron and his shifty bard friend are satan incarnate. Do we even have stats on how much gold is required to start that Dolyak? It’s ridiculous, putting so much money into an event that: 1- no one will likely help with, and 2- is EXTREMELY easy to fail… and lose everything. At least we get some Giant Wintersday Presents, though! It’s not like we don’t have those flowing out our ears already…

Also, a parting note.. Might want to avoid the rage in your original post. Blind anger never helps to forward an argument.
