We really do need something to publish for bragging rights aka team ladder not just indicudual ladder which would be aight too. Perhaps when someone wins a 3 round tourny’s there guild name gets posted or individual names.

Idunno last night we went un-defeated in paids, had several big come backs too and several very close matches and several just outright wreckages. Won a free tourny as well and lost two second round free tournies to some good teams.

The only time I heard Why….. Honey Why Are We Outta Beer!! She didnt seem to like that too much either perhaps he should have said how… Being that he mysteriously dispeared after that event for the rest of the night.

Matchmaking problems

Ya middle of the day is rough, not many on at all so doesnt matter what systems they have in place your going to get the same match ups.

In the evenings this is highly unlikely.

Resolution = Care more about spvp and fix / implement a bunch of stuff you have promised and bring back the player base.

Ya this is still an issue for when I solo que in free’s. Yes it could be the wait but in the evenings there isnt really much of a wait, no excuse.

Anyhow they had a system in GW1 for penalizing leaver or no shows AKA 15 mins of no PvP for you. Increase it if they are a repeat offender.

I want to be able to wvw but only have 1 lvl 80 char. Playing one char gets boring. If I could level in spvp for wvw I would be happy. It sucks that I have to grind for so long in PvE to make a build for WvW, when I spvp with these builds every day.

Lets look at this from another direction.

Why is the past, How is the future. In all discussions about why is always after the fact. The past is important if you do not want to repeat it, thats insanity if it was not positive. How is the future, how are you going to adapt, how are you going to change the outcome, how are you going to win.

Teams that are loosing and decide to focus on the why, never live in the present and thus never change the outcome of the future.

@ Razor is that Santa…. Your kinda proving my point for me already. If you where already in communication with your team and acting like a team there would be no why, you would already know. Plus there are many more factors to consider, all of which are much more important than why.. Perhaps try using How and you will recieve a response more conductive to winning.

So this is my little rant and it really applies to all PvP games. Good players say How – Bad Players say Why. This mostly applies to voice communication teams so voice inflection is implied but it just as well applies to text only teams its still inherent.

The Good
How is X doing
Does X need any help
X is fine
X is Moving to X

The Bad
Why is X not happening
Why are you not doing X
Why are we loosing at X
Why are you so bad lol – j/k on the last one but pretty much summarizes it

So it really comes down to team cohesion and communication in a positive manner. Why is Why so negative, I am not sure I am no pyschologist or english proffessor. But in my experience anytime someone on the team starts in with Why “X” the match is pretty much over right there and your team is going to loose. Why?

Well becuase Why seems much more like a fingerpointing than teamwork. Your wasting time directing blame rather than adapting and staying in the fight. You are calling out your teamates in a negative light, dividing your team. Teams that communicate positively and work together and help each other are the teams that adapt and overcome. Why is How much more posistive again not a profeessor buts its a passive way of gathering information. It says I am still in the fight and focused and attempting to make decisions. I am not assuming my teamates are bad and instead assuming they are trying to do there job the best they can. Trying not to provide a long list of concepts around this you have the basis.

Thus everytime I hear the phrase Why “X” that person goes on my blacklist and I never want roll with them again, I lose more with them than we win anyhow. Argue if you like but this is my years of exp in pvp and I am sick of players that say Why……

1 Week Test Issues List

On a positive note – Frees seem to be much more competitive for lower ranked players right now. Poping a little slow though but not bad at all.

Issue # 2 – we did the wait a min thing – we even did the wait 5 mins thing before popping another paid and got the same team again lol, its a little luck of the draw the other team could just have easily taken a quick break as well between.

1 Week Test Issues List

This is just my feedback on the negative items my team has encountered. Not everything is negative I like the direction but more needs to be accomplished still.
Lets please keep from QQing and more to the issues.

1) DCing, before the patch it was rarely ever a problem. Since the patch there has beena ton of DCing while not in matches and several while in them.

2) Facing same teams, match finishes – we pop out – queue up get same team again

3) Very few good matchups we had 1 in 10 matches yesterday that was a good fight

4) Needs match making even willing to wait in a queue for 5-8 mins if it would have match making. But this is not the only core issue.

5) This ties issues 2-3-4 together, you need more player base or match making wont matter. Take GW1 in its current state, its comparable to GW2 paids right now. You que for GvG wait 45 mins for a match and it eventually just says here play this team ( only one qued) and the divide in skill is reedonkulous. Making people pay something they get very little of to sustain entry is counter intiuative. You need to remove tourny tickets entirely and build a system around solo queing and pre-made team queing. Both with match making mind you. Also do something even further to interest more players and this is open ended becuase there are many things you could do to achieve this perhaps.
( two nights ago tons of teams doing paids – last night we faced the same team on half our matches with huge skill divides each time )

6) I believe there is a downed state bug now, several times in tournies last night teammates are downed, we down and kill someone and do not rally. Fairly certain damage was done by each player to target finished as well. This happend with stomping and dps’s out. ( Anyone Else )

7) Buffs on 1v1 tourny map – I am twisted on this right now. Lower mid buff at 8:30 secs gives the team all 3 points, but still you have to defend them. Upper mid buff gives a team double the points and it pops like every 3 mins. This map is pretty close to the only stand up fight map there is without gimmicks added. I do not think the lower buff is OP, but the upper I think is and with both combined totally OP. Or perhaps the upper only pops once in the map would be perhaps ok. ( just my thoughts )

8) Lastly and this goes back to issue 5 and more people, I think the game still needs balancing to an extent. ( not going to say what ) But GvG ruled becuase it was a 10 round heavyweight bout. You had to capatilize on multiple mistakes by the other team, no 1 punch KO’s. Granted good teams verse bad teams would not be strung out, they could still whip them fairly quickly. Idunno maybe match making would resolve half of this but I think there is more than just this. It just doesnt feel balanced yet with the playstyle. It feels like playing a spike team of any type without an infuser becuase only a handfull of builds/proff are viable.

So they said in the update you can not cancel cast – awesome and it would give you a global like 4 sec CD instead of the full normal skill CD timer.

Okay seems like its working except on Ele d/d earth #5 skill. If you cancel cast it still gives the full 30 second CD not the 4 sec like the rest.

Not sure on any other proffessions etc this is just one I noticed.

Make free’s solo random queus only
Make paids no longer paid but require a full team before entering 1Tv1T like GvG

I am going to defend my bro Waffles here, why becuase when he is on he rolls with me period. I do not mindlessly zerg, all we do is Free’s or now Paids and only go into the hotjoin servers to test out builds and 1v1. Last night we had a 70% win to lose ratio in paids, did one free and took the tourny. One of our losses was to Team Arenanet & PZ. I am not going to complain about loosing to them except cough “Matchmaking”.

I would like to say that our guild on this subject is equally divided. Heck one of our guildies defectivex was forum banned for going overboard on his opionon. Yet another one Waffles saying have a beer and mellow. Both points have merit.

Thats it, the sad thing is I know programmers that could do this in about 1 month prob a few lingering bugs that would get worked out in a couple weeks. So I really want to beleive you about caring, but ug help us help you lol.

To end on a positive note. I love the 1v1 paid map right now. I feel its the most balanced stand up fight map there is. No NPC’s no GL no Treb. My worry is whats going to happen in a week to 1Tv1T.

I agree the problem is they dont have a dedicated team v team tourny setup yet. So if I solo que up and I end up with 4 necro’s I can just swap and give this pug a chance to win it.

Soon as they get dedicated team v team ladders/tourny’s I would expect everything to be locked down before you go in.

Still the free’s with solo queu’s I wouldnt expect that. But I would expect that you have to solo queue for free’s, otherwise why have them.

Custom Hotjoin without Thief?

I did this yesterday too, I took them to an empty server and 1v1 them, I kept changing classes so he could get a feel for the different things coming at him. Still isnt the solution and custom servers still wont solve this.

They should have some servers that only people below certain rank can join. Making it a little easier on them all. Idunno might not be the answer either – matchmaking probably is the answer.

This is a real issue, so bad in fact I rarely if ever wish to solo que up anymore. I wish I could still do this for when I do not have a team running but 60% of the time when I solo queu I get 4v5 which ussually leads to 3v5 and so on. Its terribad and yes they used to have this for PvP in Gw1 a Condition applied for X amount of time that does not allow the affected to enter into any pvp activities.

I felt this way at the begining of spvp as well. The more you play in tourny’s with good teams the more you will realize there is much more depth than initially thought.

Is it GW1 Depth, no but it does exsist. I currently see spvp sort of like halls but without getting any credit when you take the tourny. IE no team name broadcasted to the world.

um anyone forget that there is a buff below the gate at like 6 or 8 minutes something like that, where if you get it you auto-aqcuire all three points. Thats what I have been told at least, I really only tourny so I wouldnt know.

I just dunno how if you have something like that the map could be considered competitive and balanced.

Its the part of any strategy, if you can have an advantage why wouldnt you take it. There are plenty of good reasons to 1v1 or 2v2 or even 1v2. But again only when its to your advantage.

Hey I don’t want to harp here aight just trying to give some support. But look I just posted the other day as we opened our Spvp guild. Granted I know some peeps etc and already had some players, roster is pretty big now already as I have closed recruiting.

Look a lot of people will just pm you in game. I didnt get many forum replies.

However I also agree with thirsty here, you add could be better organized and more directed. It will appeal more. Saying must play 4 hours a day…. Well when what time zone, do you have a website? do you have a code of conduct? what kind of player are you looking for not just rank or proff. Do you have a vioce comm, if so what type? How competitive are you looking to be, if you do not succeed are you all going to rage quit.

Okay recruitment is closed, please no more communications asking about it at this time. Let us evaluate what we got and go from there before any more guild requests. Recruitment could be re-opened at a later date. ( So far very pleased with the turnout and success, we definatly have some things we need to work on though )

Now if ppl want to pm me asking if we have room in a group, np never know more friends the better. However plz don’t do it when you can see I am in a match. Wait till I am in the mists again.

Hey alvha I added you and your buddy to my friends list but was never able to catch you last night I will try again tonight. We are getting close to the player cap I want so you and your friends will probably be it. In which case I will close down recruitment. We have a pretty solid, diverse and active roster right now.

@goob I get where your coming from, and no I would not want to turn down 1 player that plays 1 class really well. But when you have a guild of nothing but theifs that really hurts a teams chances, hence some flexibility is good. Yes you can learn a lot by playing against a class but you can also learn something if you play it a bit as well.

Anyhow goob I know your a solid player but I think we will run our guilds recruitment as we see fit. I am sure we will make your twitch stream against you at some point in time, hopefully we dont get crushed and its a good fight.

I question there priorities. Guild AKA Team ladders now is what is the most needed to bring players in. You want players to learn next include obs mode. The rest is good to have but not a priority.

Take free tournies and make them completly random no teams entering.

Make a team queue only for guilds since you can be in so many. No guests. include this as the ladder.

Do away with paid tournies and just make them team/guild queue tournies for QP’s as a guild for monthly tounries.

In other words follow GW1 footsteps.

Also they have been really vague and saying where not even working on this but we will eventually and or we are now. I am confused as to what it is there really working on and what is going to come down the pipe first and when.

I have said it before no guild ladder soon and spvp is dead.

So we have created a spvp only guild so that in the evenings we can get a coordinated team to run tournies with pretty much nightly. Sick of the junk you get without it.

Someone said this was GvG – Pug -

Requirements:

Gotta have mumble with a microphone ( communication is key )
Must understand base spvp game mechanics so lets say rank 10
Age 18 plus preffered – were an older group no e-drama crap or your gone
No monster ego’s – its all about teamwork not arguements
Ability to play at least 2-3 proffessions
We run roughly around 5pm MST to whenever almost each night just depends becuase we are a steam group that plays other pvp games as well.

Spvp destiny. An important message

I am getting pretty close to loosing hope here. My Guild played GW1 GvG till pretty much the bitter end of just playing the same teams and waiting 1 hour for a match. The game is only 6 months old and Spvp is already in the same state. PvE & WvW lost my love in 3-4 months.

So lets Spvp on the hopes of a ladder soon, lets get ready for some real team based competition. Nope doesnt sound like it. I can not understand why there is not a guild ladder based match-making system on top of the system you already have in place for single players. Or the length of time its taking to get it in.

The game is Guild Wars after all where is the guild in sPvP that is supposed to be the competitive part of the game right.

This single person ladder match making and private servers doesnt matter a bit to your player base. Winning matches is supposed to be about teamwork. Your priority list is completly in the wrong order. Guild Ladder then obs, you want people to learn let them obs players to learn.

For those that want to say be patient and wait, sure come out with this 6 months from now and hope players return, but I doubt it. Spvp is already in the same state as GW1 GvG is right now and I know its becuase no guild ladder. No guild ladder soon and forget about it, it will be too late your players will go elsewhere and not come back becuase something else new and shinny will already offer what you didnt. Its the wave.

I wish I didnt sound like I was crying here but ya no guild ladder and my guild will be done, not that I want it to be but my players will make the choice and move to something that satisfyies our teams requirements.

Bah now im just depressed.

I also want to add another observation, it seems to be dungeons have been built with everyone being level 80 in mind. like Ascalon Catacombs says 30 for story and 35 for explorable. Honestly I think add 10 more levels to whatever the dungeon requires and then you will be okay. Or even better just wait till your lvl 80 to do dungeons. In the end though everyone will be level 80 soon enough and then all of this will be moot anyhow.

Hey wanted to update the thread with the progress.

Well I have to say Kellie is the man or woman. Understanding the dynamics of the bosses boons has made a difference. We spam worthless fast recharge CE’s and time the worth while CE’s when the stack is down. However this bascially means only the 6th CE will work. Still seems semi kitteny imho however it does add some layer of strategy. So let us have a few more runs and we will get back to you.

Still our feedback thus far and its early, yes we see the boon but it is not entirely clear how to combat such a thing. Without Kellie’s guide we would not have known. It also seems again kitteny lets just make it harder by making them immune type thing.

Also with this new knowledge we focused much more heavily on coordinating combos. With the two strategies combined it turned a 20 minute fight with a ton of deaths to a 10 minute fight with only 1 death.

Thus knowledge is power, appreciate it. I guess it does boil down to just understanding the game better, just a little bit of knowledge can change a lot.

Oh but lastly the mounds again. Tell me they are bugged without AOE damage in the party you will fail. Got to have AOE damage to handle them otherwise direct damage just misses 50% or more of the time. That seems really bugged.

For hyper, I already said gear and level is not an issue. We also tried with multiple team builds and no real change.

Lets not turn this into a rant, I am not trying to make a negative session just provide feedback from 40 players in my guild. I provide this to hopefully help improve the game.

For crunchy, you are correct, its not all bosses and in AC I have yet to find another that does this. We have so far only done 2 of the dungeons, and not every style of each. However if you find a mechanic in one style I am pretty sure we are going to see it again being with all the dungeons and events possible.

For arcane, thanks for propping the job offer and all, I am flattered but lets be realistic I would already be in the gaming industry by now if it was in the cards for me. Don’t get me wrong I am still waiting for a call from John Carmack to go work for free lol. But I enjoy my job and the pay/stability that comes with it.

Thanks for not flaming me or giving me a citation or whatever. I just want the game to be successful and good so that my guild is sucessfull and has a good time. Thus not breaking up and playing other games.

There is plenty of very solid components to this framework. IE no holy trinity, however many of the negative issues stem from the no trinity. Finding a way to keep that engaged teamwork gameplay via skill and coordination without the trinity will be the key. Currently the game feels a lot like a MOBA, which makes it really difficult to achieve those key points while still staying away from the trinity. Give it some time and I am sure you will figure out a winning formula, it is anet after all.

This is probably going to be long and I am not trying to complain just provide our thoughts as a guild as we have discussed this at length. Thus this will revolve around the things we find negative.

First our guild is a GW1 PvP guild so our players are solid in there capabilities. When we roll into PvP we do well. So player skill is not an issue. Player level and gear isnt a problem either. No pugs just guildies well coordinated in mumble.

We have Ran Ascalon Catacombs Story mode probably 9 times
We have ran AC Explorable event #3 – 4 times
We have ran Mansion Story twice
We have ran Mansion Explorable event #1 once

So to the negatives.

Most of this is for bosses – but some applies to mobs as well

  1. uneffected by control and KD’s
  2. 1-2 hit death no leeway
  3. healthbars are ridiculous
  4. AI will focus on 1 person till there dead and defeated
  5. Doesnt feel like much strategy – no real agro juggle
  6. Dodging mechanic seems wrong becuase of the above
  7. Waypoint and run to keep from resets
  8. Static Mobs take no damage just miss miss miss to make it harder or more health to make it harder

So lets elaborate, all of these issue tie to another. You pull a boss, you know his thing or move you could say. Thus if you avoid this you stay alive. Miss it once and your dead.
Perhaps you would think multiple ways to control this one move via control or interupt or dodge roll. Great but control and interupts do not work 90% of the time. They do not even seem to start to take effect until you get the boss down to say 40% of there health. Thus left with dodge roll.

Okay dodge roll sorta works, unless of course you have the agro, so between there big one move they stay on you still kicking your rear. So your going to die unless you dodge roll. Okay so you dodge roll, wait here comes the big move, darn no dodge roll energy. Dead. Ultimatly either way your dead. Bascially this means 1 party member is going to die every X amount of seconds. If at least 1 party member can not stay alive while everyone else is waypointing to run back the mob resets and you start over. So boss fights are basically a garuntee your going to die many times and its just running back before they reset.

Once control and interupts etc start to work there is some mroe strategy to it finally. Also then this ties into the health bars. Okay so lets just say your perfect you can avoid all damage all his big moves. Which is impratical becuase he takes 20 minutes to die with him doing his big move every 20 seconds. Meaning what you have to avoid his big move like 60 times. Kind of seems wrong to me lets say your really good what 90% of the time you avoid it. Still means your dead 6 times for the boss fight. More than likely more like 10 times. Also this is real boring after 10 minutes of rinse repeat same thing. They take 20 minutes to die and you die in 1 hit. They are unnefected by your skills but you are effected by theres just kind of ug.

Agro is another problem, take explorable event #1 Mansion. Ice thrower, once you have agro he doesnt leave you alone, he will chase you till he snares you, then kill you, then stay with you until your defeated period. LoL was very annoying. Forget rezzing just waypoint, anyone that attempts to rez you will die.

Lets take AC Event # 3 explorable, the mounds that pop at the very end. Perhaps we could handle it but when you have your whole team swinging away on them and they take no damage miss miss miss no blind or anything just no damage to keepthe difficulty up seems wrong. We have attempted that event several dozen times with different build and config and no luck to complete it. No damage thus the mobs just zerg us once they get to big. Can not take out the mounds in time the mounds pile up and the spawns from them just keep coming.

Okay so plz dont give me another infraction for just stating our feedback. When we heard open world MMO but instanced dungeons we where like dungeons are going to be awesome. So far though dungeons do not seem to be about strategy which we are huge on. Hey WvW is amazing and we love it. But dungeons to us just seem to be lacking.

What can you do to fix this? Idunno I am not asking for nerfs I do not want it to be easy. I just want strategy and skill of the team to disctate the play. It doesnt seem that way with uber high health bars and mobs either take no damage or completly uneffected by control or interupts and kd’s and push and pull etc.

Ra has been around since the very begging of beta in GW1, We have had many players come through our doors over the years and we have now come back to continued into GW2. We have had the fortune of a very enjoyable climate because of our player’s age and maturity. Most of us are in our late 20’s to mid 30’s and are focused on a wide variety but PvP will definatly be our focus for us as it has always been for guild activites. Which is why recruitment is now open we want a larger guild group for WvW.

Sorrows Furnace is our home server
USA = English Language
We run our guild events nightly around 5pm MST to 9pm MST

Requirements are 18+
Mumble + Working Mic
Able to join us 4 Nights a Week for Guild Events
Monster Ego’s Need Not Apply
